Knockouts title match added to Impact Wrestling Bound for Glory

Mickie James is gunning for the title she never lost.

As revealed during the closing segment of Thursday’s Impact Wrestling episode, James will challenge Trinity for the Knockouts World Championship at the Bound for Glory pay-per-view set for Saturday, October 21 in Chicago.

James made the save for Trinity as the champ faced a two-on-one attack from Savannah Evans & Jai Vidal following a win over Giselle Shaw in the main event of this week’s Impact show. James then announced her intentions to challenge Trinity at Bound for Glory. Impact then officially announced the bout in a social media post.

James was forced to relinquish the Knockouts World title due to injury this past April, and never lost the Championship in the ring.

The Knockouts title bout is one of two new matches announced for Bound for Glory, as an X-Division title match with Chris Sabin defending against KENTA was also added to the lineup this week.

Here is the current Bound for Glory card:

The updated Bound for Glory lineup:

  • Impact World Championship: Alex Shelley defends against Josh Alexander
  • Impact Knockouts World Championship: Trinity defends against Mickie James
  • Impact X-Division Championship: Chris Sabin defends against KENTA
  • Will Ospreay vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey
  • Don West, Mike Tenay, Traci Brooks will be inducted into the Impact Wrestling Hall of Fame

Two title matches set for next week’s Impact Wrestling

Two title matches have been announced for the Thursday, March 24 Impact Wrestling episode, both rematches from Sacrifice.

Tasha Steelz will defend the Impact Knockouts World Championship against Mickie James in a street fight. Steelz defeated James to capture the Knockouts title for the first time at Sacrifice on March 5.

On this week’s Impact episode, Chelsea Green offered to be in James’ corner for the street fight, but James declined, citing Green’s injury.

Also announced for next week’s episode, Violent by Design will defend the Impact World Tag Team Championship against former title holder The Good Brothers in a lumberjack match. Violent By Design defeated The Good Brothers to win the Tag titles at Sacrifice.

The winners of the lumberjack match will go on to defend the Tag titles in an eight-team elimination challenge at the April 23 Rebellion pay-per-view.

Impact will be taping television, including next week’s episode, Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

The announced lineup for next week’s Impact Wrestling episode:

  • Impact Knockouts World Championship street fight: Tasha Steelz (c) vs. Mickie James
  • Impact World Tag Team Championship lumberjack match: Violent By Design (c) vs. The Good Brothers

Three titles change hands at Impact Sacrifice

Three championships changed hands at Saturday’s Impact Sacrifice event.

Tasha Steelz defeated Mickie James to become the new Impact Knockouts World Champion, pinning James after hitting a cutter.

Steelz attacked James before the match began, then Chelsea Green’s presence at ringside distracted James throughout the contest, as Steelz’s second, Savannah Evans, attacked Green, and the combination of factors led to the title change.

Later in the show, Violent By Design’s Joe Doering and Eric Young won the Impact Wrestling World Tag Team titles, defeating The Good Brothers. Deaner was at ringside as part of the Violent By Design trio, who observe the Freebird Rules.

Violent By Design have now begun their second reign with the Impact Tag titles, while The Good Brothers saw their second reign with the titles come to an end.

In the night’s first title change, The Influence’s Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood defeated The IInspiration’s Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay to capture the Impact Knockouts World Tag Team Championship.

Rayne has now held the Knockouts Tag titles on three separate occasions with different partners.
