Rip Fowler & Jagger Reid request release from WWE

The former Grizzled Young Veterans could be on their way out of WWE.

Fightful reported today that Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid have requested their release from WWE. They’ve been part of the NXT brand as members of Joe Gacy’s Schism faction.

The report didn’t state whether WWE has responded to Fowler and Reid’s release request.

“We haven’t heard a reason why they’ve asked for their releases, but they’re expected to announce themselves shortly as well,” Fightful wrote.

Fowler (formerly known as Zack Gibson) and Reid (James Drake) were formerly known as the Grizzled Young Veterans on the indies and in NXT/NXT UK. They were one-time NXT UK Tag Team Champions.

The Grizzled Young Veterans got their new in-ring names when they were revealed as Gacy’s associates on NXT last July.

Schism (Gacy, Fowler, Reid & Ava Raine) lost an eight-person tag match to Chase U (Andre Chase, Duke Hudson & Thea Hail) & Tyler Bate on the pre-show for NXT Stand & Deliver this past Saturday. The match had a stipulation where Schism would have gained control over Chase U if they won.

Hudson pinned Reid to win the eight-person tag match.

The Dyad revealed as Drake & Gibson on WWE NXT

The Dyad revealed themselves tonight on NXT.

It was revealed during a vignette that the two druids that have been competing in tag matches in recent weeks are the former Grizzled Young Veterans, Zack Gibson and James Drake. During the segment, the two were transformed, no longer sporting facial hair and Gibson now wearing contact lenses. They are now going under the names Jagger Reid (Drake) and Rip Fowler (Gibson).

Gacy told them in the segment that their past is now behind him. Reid said they had found redemption, while Fowler said they now can be truly recognized. The segment ended with Gacy welcoming them home.

Gibson and Drake hadn’t been on television since the April 19 edition of NXT, when they lost to Legado del Fantasma. After the loss, a vignette on social media aired with the two saying the NXT Universe would no longer see Gibson and Drake.

In recent weeks, Gacy has introduced two hooded figures known as The Dyad. Last week, Gacy revealed their stable name was The Schism, and The Dyad would reveal their identities next week.
