Two title matches official for this week’s NXT

Two title matches have been made official for this week’s post-Survivor Series edition of NXT.

WWE has announced that NXT Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish) will defend their titles against Keith Lee & Dominik Dijakovic on tomorrow’s show. Akira Tozawa will also challenge for Lio Rush’s NXT Cruiserweight Championship tomorrow night.

Team Ciampa (Tommaso Ciampa, Lee, Dijakovic & Kevin Owens) defeated The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, O’Reilly & Fish) in the men’s WarGames match at NXT TakeOver on Saturday. Lee and Ciampa also represented NXT in the men’s elimination tag match at Survivor Series, with Roman Reigns last eliminating Lee to get the win for Team SmackDown.

Rush retained his Cruiserweight title in a triple threat match against SmackDown’s Kalisto and Raw’s Tozawa on the Survivor Series pre-show. He pinned Kalisto to win the match.

Rush’s win was one of the four brand vs. brand vs. brand matches that NXT won at Survivor Series. They won the night at the PPV, with SmackDown getting victories in two matches and Raw winning one.

Kay Lee Ray, Dominik Dijakovic added to WarGames matches

Team Baszler officially has its final member for WarGames.

After her appearance on tonight’s NXT, Triple H posted a tweet confirming that NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray will be on Team Baszler at TakeOver. The women’s WarGames match will be Team Ripley (Rhea Ripley, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae & Mia Yim) vs. Team Baszler (Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai & Kay Lee Rae).

Team Baszler will have the numerical advantage in the WarGames match. The advantage was on the line in Mia Yim and Io Shirai’s ladder match on tonight’s NXT, with KLR appearing and helping Shirai win.

It was also announced tonight that Dominik Dijakovic is replacing Matt Riddle in the men’s WarGames match. It will be Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, Dijakovic, and a partner vs. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish).

Dijakovic will face Cole in a ladder match on NXT next week to determine which team will get the WarGames advantage.

Instead of being in the WarGames match, Riddle will face Finn Balor at TakeOver. The show is being held at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on Saturday, November 23.

Adam Cole vs. Dominik Dijakovic ladder match announced for NXT

For the second straight week, there will be a ladder match with TakeOver: WarGames implications on NXT.

WWE has announced that Adam Cole and Dominik Dijakovic will face off in a ladder match on NXT next Wednesday. The winner will get the WarGames numerical advantage for their team.

The men’s WarGames match at TakeOver will be Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, Dijakovic, and a partner vs. The Undisputed Era (Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish). Dijakovic is taking Matt Riddle’s spot in the match, with Riddle facing Finn Balor at TakeOver instead.

Team Baszler will have the advantage in the women’s WarGames match. Io Shirai defeated Mia Yim in their ladder match tonight, with Shirai winning after getting help from NXT UK’s Kay Lee Ray.

Team Baszler (Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Shirai & KLR) will face Team Ripley (Rhea Ripley, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae & Yim) in the women’s WarGames match.

Next week’s NXT is the go-home show for TakeOver: WarGames.

Triple threat NXT North American title match announced for next week

Roderick Strong has two new challengers for next week’s episode of NXT.

Strong will defend his NXT North American Championship against Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic in a triple threat match next Wednesday (October 23). Strong defending his title against Velveteen Dream had originally been announced for the episode.

Lee and Dijakovic faced off on tonight’s NXT, but Strong interfered and caused the match to end in a no contest.

Lee vs. Dijakovic was made a North American title number one contender’s match following an angle that took place earlier on the episode. After Tommaso Ciampa defeated Angel Garza, Undisputed Era came out and surrounded the ring. They gave a USB drive to Mauro Ranallo. When it was played, it was revealed that Undisputed Era had laid out Velveteen Dream backstage.

Strong defeated Velveteen Dream to win the North American title on NXT’s USA Network premiere last month.

Tonight’s Lee vs. Dijakovic match was the fourth time they’ve faced each other on NXT television. Lee and Dijakovic each have one victory in their series, and the other match ended in a double countout.

Lee vs. Dijakovic IV, Dunne vs. Priest set for NXT next week

The latest chapter in Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic’s rivalry is set for next week.

WWE has announced Lee vs. Dijakovic for next Wednesday’s episode of NXT. It’s being promoted as the “rubber match” between the two due to Lee and Dijakovic each having wins over each other in NXT.

Lee defeated Dijakovic two weeks ago, while Dijakovic picked up a win against Lee in August. They also went to a double countout in a match this February.

Pete Dunne vs. Damian Priest has also been announced for next Wednesday. Their feud began last week when Priest attacked Dunne after Dunne defeated Danny Burch.

In his first match in nearly eight months, former NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa will return to action against Angel Garza next week.

Tegan Nox, who suffered a brutal leg injury in last year’s Mae Young Classic, is also set to make her televised NXT US in-ring return. She returned to the ring at an NXT house show this July and also recently appeared on NXT UK TV. Nox’s opponent for next week hasn’t been revealed.

During tonight’s live premiere of NXT on USA, it was announced that Dijakovic vs. Lee will take place next Wednesday (September 25). It will be part of the USA Network portion of next week’s NXT broadcast.

For tonight and next week’s episodes, the first hour of NXT is airing live on USA Network at 8 p.m. Eastern time and the second hour will be live on WWE Network at 9 p.m. Eastern. NXT will then begin airing live on USA for the full two hours on October 2.

Dijakovic defeated Lee when they faced off on the NXT episode that aired on August 28. They also went to a double countout in a match that aired on NXT TV this February.

Before signing with WWE, Dijakovic (as Donovan Dijak) and Lee had an acclaimed series of matches on the indies.

Dakota Kai returning to action is also set for next week’s NXT. She’s been out of action since tearing her ACL in December 2018.

Dominik Dijakovic undergoes surgery for torn meniscus

Dominic Dijakovic has undergone surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

In a tweet today, Dijakovic revealed that he had surgery on Tuesday in Orlando, Florida to repair the meniscus. WWE.com later confirmed the surgery, but did not provide further details as to when the injury occurred.

Dijakovic did not appear at the last set of NXT television tapings after Dijakovic vs. Velveteen Dream for the NXT North American Championship had been teased in the prior tapings. Velveteen Dream vs. Tyler Breeze appears to be the new direction while Dijakovic is out of action.

WWE’s Big E is also currently out of action following surgery to repair a meniscus tear. While no official timetable has given for either man’s recovery, the standard surgical repair for a meniscus tear is arthroscopic. A typical recovery timetable from arthroscopic knee surgery is 2 to 6 weeks.

In his post, Dijakovic delivered an in-character promo, vowing to return and capture the North American championship.

WWE has announced matches for the next two weeks of NXT television.

The Street Profits vs. Barthel & Aichner and LeRae vs. Aliyah will presumably be taped at the Barclays Center before TakeOver: New York tomorrow, while Lee vs. Dijakovic should be filmed at NXT’s TV tapings at Full Sail University next Wednesday.

Aliyah and Vanessa Borne interrupted LeRae during an interview on last night’s episode. LeRae was asked about Johnny Gargano’s NXT Championship match against Adam Cole at TakeOver and discussed her own goal of becoming NXT Women’s Champion.

Lee and Dijakovic went to a double countout on the February 27 episode of NXT. They were supposed to have a rematch at March’s TV tapings, but the match didn’t end up happening. Dave Meltzer reported that Lee had an injury that wasn’t thought to be serious and wasn’t expected to keep him out for too long.

This was two big men going at it. A dive over the top by Martinez got a “holy sh*t” chant, but the power of Babatunde was just too much.

Real good match here. Kai ran wild with a series of kicks and a top rope foot stomp for a near fall, but she was no match for Baszler and got choked out.

The crowd loved this one and the fans were thoroughly behind Gargano. Dijakovic overpowered Gargano and towered over him, but he was wrapped up in the Gargano Escape for the submission.
