Kay Lee Ray, Dominik Dijakovic added to WarGames matches

Team Baszler officially has its final member for WarGames.

After her appearance on tonight’s NXT, Triple H posted a tweet confirming that NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray will be on Team Baszler at TakeOver. The women’s WarGames match will be Team Ripley (Rhea Ripley, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae & Mia Yim) vs. Team Baszler (Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai & Kay Lee Rae).

Team Baszler will have the numerical advantage in the WarGames match. The advantage was on the line in Mia Yim and Io Shirai’s ladder match on tonight’s NXT, with KLR appearing and helping Shirai win.

It was also announced tonight that Dominik Dijakovic is replacing Matt Riddle in the men’s WarGames match. It will be Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, Dijakovic, and a partner vs. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish).

Dijakovic will face Cole in a ladder match on NXT next week to determine which team will get the WarGames advantage.

Instead of being in the WarGames match, Riddle will face Finn Balor at TakeOver. The show is being held at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on Saturday, November 23.

Finn Balor to face Matt Riddle at NXT TakeOver: WarGames

Finn Balor has a new opponent for NXT TakeOver: WarGames.

During tonight’s episode of NXT, it was revealed that Balor will face Matt Riddle at TakeOver. Balor vs. Johnny Gargano originally appeared to be the direction for the show, but it was announced on WWE Backstage last night that — due to a neck injury — Gargano won’t be cleared to wrestle at TakeOver.

Balor laid out Riddle with a 1916 DDT on the floor in the main event segment of last week’s NXT. Their storyline continued tonight, with Riddle attacking Balor as he was cutting a promo in the ring.

Keith Lee then faced Roderick Strong on tonight’s show. The Undisputed Era tried to get involved — and a brawl broke out between them and Tommaso Ciampa & Riddle. Balor attacked Riddle and hit a slingblade, a double stomp, and a shotgun dropkick into the steps.

The Undisputed Era attacked Lee after he defeated Strong, but Dominik Dijakovic came down and laid Undisputed Era out.

Dijakovic will take Riddle’s spot in the men’s WarGames match at TakeOver. It will be Ciampa, Lee, Dijakovic, and a partner vs. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Strong, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish).

The Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois is hosting TakeOver: WarGames on Saturday, November 23. The women’s WarGames match will be Team Ripley (Rhea Ripley, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae & Mia Yim) vs. Team Baszler (Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai, and a partner).

NXT UK’s Kay Lee Ray appears to be the final member of Team Baszler.

Johnny Gargano not cleared for NXT TakeOver: WarGames

An injury will prevent Johnny Gargano from wrestling during Survivor Series weekend.

On WWE Backstage last night, it was announced that Gargano will not be medically cleared to wrestle at NXT TakeOver: WarGames due to a neck injury. WWE is claiming that the injury happened when Finn Balor turned heel and attacked Gargano on NXT three weeks ago.

Bryan Alvarez said on today’s Wrestling Observer Live that the injury to Gargano is legitimate, though he didn’t know if that’s when the injury happened.

Gargano vs. Balor had never been officially announced for TakeOver: WarGames.

Two WarGames matches have been confirmed for TakeOver. Team Ripley (Rhea Ripley, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae & Mia Yim) will face Team Baszler (Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai, and a partner) in the women’s match. Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Riddle, Keith Lee, and a partner vs. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish) has been announced as the men’s match.

The Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois is hosting TakeOver: WarGames on Saturday, November 23 and Survivor Series on Sunday, November 24. Raw vs. SmackDown vs. NXT is the theme of Survivor Series.

Mia Yim added to Team Ripley for NXT TakeOver: WarGames

All four members of Rhea Ripley’s team for NXT TakeOver: WarGames have now been revealed.

On tonight’s episode of NXT, Mia Yim was announced as the final member of Team Ripley for the first-ever women’s WarGames match. The match will be Ripley, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae & Yim vs. Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai, and another partner.

Baszler defeated Dakota Kai on NXT tonight, with the match being set up by Kai saying she wanted to prove herself and get the final spot on Team Ripley. A brawl broke out when Baszler, Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke attacked Kai after the match. Yim came out with a kendo stick and made the save for Ripley, Nox, LeRae, and Kai.

Ripley announced Yim as the final member of her WarGames team during a backstage segment later on tonight’s show. Ripley told Kai that she didn’t make the cut. Kai said she understood but looked disappointed and walked away.

The Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois is hosting TakeOver: WarGames on Saturday, November 23. Survivor Series will take place at the arena the next night.

There will also be a men’s WarGames match at TakeOver.

NXT TakeOver: WarGames set for Survivor Series weekend

NXT TakeOver: WarGames is officially returning this November.

Ahead of tickets going on sale, WWE has announced that NXT’s Survivor Series weekend special in Rosemont, Illinois will be branded as TakeOver: WarGames and will feature a WarGames match. The show is taking place at the Allstate Arena on Saturday, November 23.

Tickets for TakeOver: WarGames will go on sale to the general public this Friday (May 24) at 10 a.m. Central time. The pre-sale will begin at 10 a.m. Central this Wednesday (May 22).

TakeOver: WarGames being held during Survivor Series weekend has become a tradition for NXT. The brand’s first WarGames match took place in 2017, with Undisputed Era defeating SAnitY and The Authors of Pain & Roderick Strong in a three-team match. Last year’s WarGames match featured two teams, with The Viking Raiders, Ricochet & Pete Dunne defeating Undisputed Era.

NXT has two more TakeOver specials before WarGames. The Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut is hosting TakeOver XXV on June 1, while TakeOver: Toronto will be held at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on August 10 as part of SummerSlam weekend.
