Digital Media title match announced for Impact Wrestling Final Resolution

The Digital Media Championship will be on the line at Impact Wrestling’s last major event of 2023.

It was announced today that Tommy Dreamer will defend his Digital Media title against Cody Deaner at Final Resolution 2023. The show is being held at the Don Kolov Arena in Toronto on Saturday, December 9. It will air live on Impact Plus, Impact’s Ultimate Insiders YouTube service, and Fite TV.

Dreamer has been Digital Media Champion since winning the title from Kenny King at Victory Road this September.

On the November 9 episode of Impact, Dreamer defended the title against Crazzy Steve. The match ended with Dreamer losing by disqualification but retaining his title. The DQ happened when Dreamer used a fork as a weapon. After the match, Dreamer continued attacking Steve with the fork and left him bloodied.

In addition to being Impact Wrestling’s last special event of 2023, Final Resolution will be the company’s last major show before Impact Wrestling rebrands back to TNA Wrestling starting with Hard to Kill in January 2024.

Final Resolution is also set to feature the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs. Josh Alexander & Zack Sabre Jr. The match is Sabre’s Impact Wrestling debut.

Jake Something vs. Jason Hotch is set for Final Resolution as well.

Eric Young vs. Deaner no DQ match added to Impact Emergence

What’s believed to be the final match for this Sunday’s Emergence streaming special was announced during Thursday’s Impact on AXS as former Impact World Champion Eric Young will take on Deaner in a no DQ match.

In storyline, Deaner “killed” Young late last year on Impact to explain Young leaving to sign with WWE. However, Young was granted his release earlier this year and returned at Slammiversary. His non-death was later explained in a taped vignette to reveal he never actually died.

In his absence, Deaner took over Young’s Violent by Design group and renamed it The Design, aligning with Kon and Angels, the latter of which just left the group.

Here’s the updated card for Toronto, Ontario, Canada:

  • Impact Knockouts Champion Trinity defends against Deonna Purrazzo
  • Alex Shelley, KUSHIDA, Chris Sabin & Josh Alexander vs. Bully Ray, Moose, Brian Myers & Lio Rush

Bully Ray to team with Deaner at Impact Slammiversary

Update —

Impact Wrestling is saying that PCO’s status for Slammiversary is uncertain after he was attacked and set on fire by Bully Ray and Steve Maclin on Impact last week.

**********

Bully Ray has found a new partner for his tag team match at Slammiversary.

Bully Ray will be teaming with Deaner against PCO & Scott D’Amore at this Saturday’s Impact Wrestling pay-per-view in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Deaner is replacing Steve Maclin in the match after Maclin had to be pulled from Slammiversary due to injury.

Deaner was revealed as Bully Ray’s new Slammiversary partner during Monday’s episode of Busted Open Radio.

Maclin was injured while wrestling on Impact’s Down Under tour in Australia. After facing Alex Shelley on night one, Maclin wasn’t able to compete in his scheduled match against Frankie Kazarian on night two.

Former NHL player Darren McCarty, who has had issues with Bully Ray in Impact, will be the special enforcer for the Bully Ray & Deaner vs. PCO & D’Amore match.
