CMLL set to air on Fox Sports 2, date announced

CMLL has announced a major new path for the promotion.

Earlier tonight, CMLL announced that their events are scheduled to begin airing on Fox Sports 2 from Friday, April 24, 2026 (quotes translated from Spanish).

“Starting Friday, April 24, don’t miss The Best Wrestling in the World live from Arena México on Fox Sports 2.”

The newly released promotional teaser for CMLL’s Fox Sports 2 shows a masked luchador tightening their mask, while the Fox logo is visible in the background.

Every Friday, CMLL runs events at Arena Mexico. While the events were previously available to watch on the CMLL subscription service, they will now be available for viewers to watch on Fox Sports 2. CMLL has a working relationship with Tony Khan’s AEW and often features wrestlers from there as well as NJPW and MLW.

In contrast to CMLL, another top wrestling promotion of Mexico, AAA, also partly owned by WWE, airs on Fox Sports in Mexico and on the WWE YouTube channel every Saturday.

La Catalina reportedly set to sign with AAA in historic move

Hours after her CMLL departure, La Catalina is reportedly set to make a historic move and potentially sign with AAA.

La Catalina parted ways with CMLL when her contract expired at the start of April 2026. Now, according to a recent report by Luchablog, it was noted that La Catalina will debut for AAA on Saturday, April 11, and make history.

If she successfully makes her debut for AAA, she will become the first talent to jump from CMLL to AAA after WWE purchased AAA last year in 2025. She was previously with WWE from 2019 to 2021. She was also a part of the WWE roster from 2019 to 2021, where she was known as Carolina and Catalina.

La Catalina is the pick up AAA’s needed since WWE took over. She’s not the biggest possible name to jump, but she’s the one who fills the most obvious need. WWE/TKO believes in having strong marketable women’s stars, the AAA roster they took over did not have many women that fit WWE’s conventional thought process about female stars,” the report read.

La Catalina, 25, has also worked CMLL matches against former AEW champions Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone.

As per CMLL’s statements, it was noted that it was Catalina’s decision not to renew her contract with the promotion.

CMLL aims to expand ‘global image of Mexican lucha libre’ with Slamfest

CMLL owner Salvador Lutteroth III says his company’s aim is to expand the global image of Mexican lucha libre.

During an exclusive interview on Wrestling Observer Radio, Lutteroth spoke about CMLL’s first-ever full international show, which will take place in Las Vegas on April 16. Lutteroth said the show is an opportunity for CMLL’s talent to showcase what they do in Mexico.

Lutteroth said:

“It’s the first time CMLL goes abroad with a complete show… an opportunity for us to show a complete program of CMLL talent in the States. We’re asking our wrestlers to do what they usually do in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Puebla, and the rest of the country.”

Lutteroth also addressed CMLL forming alliances with promotions outside of Mexico and showcasing its talent internationally.

Lutteroth continued:

“What we all aim is a presence of CMLL, or Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre, at the international level. We formed alliances with New Japan Pro Wrestling, with AEW and the branches that belong to AEW, RevPro, MLW, MLP, and we still want to be part of a more global image of Mexican lucha libre.”

CMLL announces departure of La Catalina

CMLL issued a statement on Tuesday announcing that a member of its women’s division has departed the promotion.

La Catalina exited CMLL when her contract expired at the start of April 2026. In the company’s statement, CMLL said it was Catalina’s decision not to renew. CMLL concluded the statement by wishing Catalina well in her future endeavors.

There has been no news on why Catalina made the decision to leave or what her next move in pro wrestling will be. She shared CMLL’s statement on social media but has not addressed the situation yet.

In 2024-2025, Catalina worked CMLL matches against AEW stars Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone. But given that AEW and CMLL are working together to offer dual contracts to talent, it would appear unlikely that AEW is her next destination.

Catalina, 25, is originally from Chile and spent some of her early career with WWE, where she was known as “Carolina” during a brief pairing with Sin Cara on the main roster and later used the name “Katrina Cortez” in NXT. Working for WWE fulfilled a dream for Catalina, but she has spoken negatively about her time with the company. If she were to return to WWE, it would presumably be for a role in Lucha Libre AAA.

Mascara Dorada says getting AEW contract was ‘huge surprise’

Mascara Dorada wasted no time accepting dual contracts with AEW and CMLL when the opportunity was presented.

Speaking with Denise Salcedo, Dorada stated that signing with AEW and CMLL came as a surprise since it was limited to wrestlers. He instantly took up the opportunity which was a childhood dream come true. He further expressed his interest in working with wrestlers globally, across promotions.

“Well, it was a huge surprise, since the only wrestler with a dual contract at the time was Hechicero. When they told me, I didn’t hesitate for a single second, because this has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid, I always wanted to work for two companies, since there are very few wrestlers in the world who have two, three or four contracts. I wanted to be part of that very small group of wrestlers, because for me, it’s a real pleasure to wrestle all over the world.”

Dorada cited Mistico as a huge reference in his wrestling style in addition to Andrade El Idolo’s contributions to revolutionize the industry.

“Many of the wrestlers who have the same style that I have, obviously I have them as a reference. One of them is Mistico; he has always been a reference for all Mexican wrestlers, and whoever says he is not, they are lying because in reality Mistico has always been a reference fighter. Mistico, Volador Jr., Andrade was also one of the references. I think they revolutionized wrestling and that I have always liked their style.”

He added Will Ospreay and PAC’s aerial style of wrestling also helped shape in-ring abilities.

“A very aerial style, very acrobatic, flights, punishments, many of those things. Same now, when I have more experience, because I have other types of references, not like Will Ospreay, PAC, who even so at some point can become my rivals, but they do not take away that admiration that I have for being very agile and very complete wrestlers.”

Dorada first appeared on AEW in 2024 representing CMLL with Hechicero, Místico, and Volador Jr. In January this year, Dorada confirmed that he had officially signed with AEW making him one of the rare few to sign with the two promotions simultaneously.

Mascara Dorada reveals which AEW star he’d like a match with

Mascara Dorada knows who he’d like to face in the future.

In an interview with Denise Scalcedo, the CMLL and AEW star brought up one name that he would like to face in the future: Will Ospreay.

“He’s a very well-rounded wrestler, every time he steps into the ring, it’s a five-star match, no matter who he’s facing. He’s a very imposing wrestler, very strong, very agile,” he said.

However, Dorada went on to name someone else as a potential future opponent: PAC.

“PAC is a wrestler who’s also incredibly strong. He’s a very, very daring wrestler, he has some beautiful dives,” Dorada said. “These are wrestlers whom I want to absorb a little of experience because they’re the best in the world, right? To be among the best in the world, you have to face the best in the world.”

Earlier this year, Dorada confirmed he had signed a dual contract with AEW and CMLL, making him a part of both promotions moving forward. He currently holds the Historic Welterweight title and is one third of the CMLL Trios Champions with Mistico and Neon.

Mistico vs. Hechicero confirmed for CMLL Slamfest in Las Vegas

A Champion vs. Champion match has been announced for CMLL’s upcoming show in Las Vegas.

As first reported by our own Dave Meltzer, CMLL Light Heavyweight Champion Mistico will wrestle CMLL Heavyweight Champion Hechicero on the show, which is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, at the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino.

Meltzer wrote:

CMLL notes: Thunder Rosa dual contract confirmed, date for MLW joint event

Notes from Friday’s CMLL show at Arena Mexico.

During the show it was announced that Rosa, who was in the ring, had signed a dual contract with CMLL. Earlier on Friday, Fightful had reported that the “working plan” was for Rosa to be offered a dual deal.

Rosa expressed hopes to secure such a deal in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated.

“Really you gonna ask me that question? Of course I’m interested in something like that,” Rosa said at the time. “It’s a big deal, it is such a big deal and it’s such an honor when they recognize you to be somebody to be part of their organization. Absolutely, it would be an honor.”

Elsewhere on the show, it was announced that CMLL will have its joint show with MLW on Friday, May 1 at Arena Mexico. The two promotions have enjoyed a strong working relationship in recent years, with Ultimo Guerrero and Blue Panther battling for the National Openweight title in Mexico last year.

CMLL held a similar joint event with MLW last May. Top matches from that card had Mistico defeating KUSHIDA, Ultimo Guerrero defeating Matthew Justice for the National Openweight title, and Neon taking on Paul London in a match that ended in a no contest.

Report: Former AEW Women’s Champion to be offered dual deal with CMLL

Thunder Rosa is reportedly expected to receive an offer for a dual contract with AEW and CMLL.

During an interview with Sports Illustrated earlier this week, Rosa said she would like to join the ranks of Hechicero, Persephone, Mascara Dorada, Mistico and Claudio Castagnoli as those who have deals with both companies.

Fightful Select reported Friday that the “working plan” is for Rosa to be offered a dual CMLL and AEW contract, with the CMLL deal running concurrently with her current AEW agreement. The report noted that her AEW contract is believed to expire sometime next year.

Rosa is scheduled to wrestle on CMLL events this weekend. She will team with India Sioux and Marcela against Persephone, Olympia and Princesa Sugehit at Arena Mexico on Friday.

She previously wrestled at Arena Mexico as part of the Ring of Honor Global Wars Mexico show last June, teaming with Persephone in a win over Athena and Red Velvet. She returned to Arena Mexico two days later during the Fantastica Mania tour.

Thunder Rosa hopes to secure dual contract with AEW and CMLL

After Claudio Castagnoli, Thunder Rosa is eager to sign a dual contract with AEW and CMLL.

When The Takedown on SI asked Rosa about signing a dual contract with AEW and CMLL like Castagnoli has done, she instantly responded that it would be an honor. And the opportunity would fulfill her dream of competing and training at Arena Mexico.

“Really you gonna ask me that question? Of course I’m interested in something like that,” Rosa exclaimed. “It’s a big deal, it is such a big deal and it’s such an honor when they recognize you to be somebody to be part of their organization. Absolutely, it would be an honor.”

“That’s like one thing that I always, when I started wrestling, I always wanted to do is wrestle in Arena Mexico, to be part of some of the trainings in Arena Mexico, which I will survive when I do them. I will survive them all (laughs). It’s like pushing myself to the limit and it’s like one of those things that I’m really enjoying the process because it’s like pushing yourself in a different way.”

Rosa made her CMLL debut at their cross-promotional event with AEW and ROH in 2025. On April 4, she will make her return at Arena Coliseo’s 83rd Anniversary Show, teaming up with Garra Negra & La Jarochita against Zeuxis, Keyra & Sanely.

CMLL champion ‘really’ enjoying dual AEW contract, names dream opponents

MJF seems to have another feud lined up for him after Kenny Omega and Nic Nemeth in AEW.

In an exclusive interview with The Takedown on SI, Hechicero discussed his ambition to take the CMLL World Title to another level. Despite defeating Castagnoli for the CMLL Championship this month, he would still like to face him, MJF and Mark Briscoe in AEW.

“Well I aspire to the highest level as CMLL World Heavyweight Champion,” Hechicero said. “First of all, MJF is the company’s world champion, it would be really great to face him.”

“Also, Claudio Castagnoli, it would be great to have a rematch against him because he did so well and I had two matches before with him in CMLL and the last time I also face Mark Briscoe, so I really want to face the top of AEW because if we see the AEW roster, there are the greatest wrestlers that I really want to face for the CMLL World Heavyweight Champion.”

Hechicero also commented on the hectic travel schedule that comes with his dual contract with AEW and CMLL. While tiring it also provides opportunities for his career, his match with Bryan Danielson in February 2024 on Collision being a noteworthy feud.

“With this double contract with AEW and CMLL and also since that match with Bryan Danielson, for me has been very fun, tired, constantly traveling long distances in Mexico, United States, but I really enjoy being part of this dual contract with CMLL and AEW. It’s something important for my career.”

Hechicero has been competing on CMLL since 2014 and on ROH in 2016. Nearly a decade later he made his AEW debut to represent CMLL and set up a singles match with Danielson.

At Homenaje a Dos Leyendas on March 20 he captured the CMLL World Championship from Castagnoli to kickstart his second title reign.

AEW World Champion MJF is set to defend his title against Omega at Dynasty on April 12. He is also involved in a non-AEW feud with Nemeth. The two will collide in May hosted by Create-a-Pro Wrestling in Melville, New York.

New Don Callis Family member revealed ahead of AEW Trios title match

A new member of the Don Callis Family has been revealed ahead of challenging for AEW gold this Friday night.

In a video uploaded late on Monday, Rocky Romero announced that CMLL wrestler Volador Jr. has joined the Don Callis Family ranks. The faction will attempt to gain the AEW Trios titles on Friday when Volador, Hechicero & El Clon take on Mistico, Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey in the main event of CMLL’s Arena Mexico show.

The 45-year-old Volador is a long-time CMLL star who has made frequent NJPW appearances over the years, including featuring in multiple Best of the Super Junior and Super Junior Tag League tournaments. He debuted for AEW in 2024 and MLW in 2025.

Mistico, Knight & Bailey became the new AEW Trios Champions when they defeated Don Callis Family’s Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis this month at Revolution 2026. That same night, it was announced that Mistico is now under a dual contract with AEW and CMLL.

Last week, the Don Callis Family was dealt a blow when it was announced that Josh Alexander will need to undergo knee surgery and miss an extended amount of time. Fletcher also could be dealing with an injury as he was wearing a walking boot after wrestling on AEW Collision this past weekend.

The April 3 Arena Mexico card also includes AEW’s Thunder Rosa teaming with Marcela & India Sioux for a six-woman tag match against Persephone, Princesa Sugehit & Olympia.
