Bozilla undergoes ACL surgery

Bozilla has undergone surgery.

The 22-year-old posted on social media Thursday revealing that she recently had successful ACL surgery. She suffered a torn ACL at Stardom’s New Year Stars show in Tokyo, Japan, on January 11.

Bozilla wrote:

“Surgery was a success! Now looking forward and focusing on the recovery to come back stronger!”

Bozilla is the daughter of German wrestler Ulf Herman and drew praise for her performance in the TBS title four-way at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door last August. Mercedes Moné retained her title in the bout, pinning Persephone in a match that also involved Alex Windsor. Dave Meltzer rated the match four and one-quarter stars.

Bozilla also headlined the first-ever Marigold show on May 20, 2024. She teamed with Sareee in a win over Giulia and Utami Hayashishita in the main event. She debuted for Stardom last June and also challenged for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship last summer.

Bozilla confirms torn ACL injury: ‘I’m deeply devastated’

Top female wrestling prospect Bozilla will miss a considerable amount of time due to a completely torn ACL that will require surgery.

The 5’11” standout took to Instagram Thursday to confirm the news that she sustained the injury in a January 11 match at Stardom New Year Stars in Tokyo, Japan. She noted she was able to make it through the five-on-four handicap match, but her knee completely gave out at the end.

“Honestly, it still doesn’t seem real. I’m deeply devastated and still struggling to find the right words. I wish this wasn’t true, but unfortunately, it’s reality,” she wrote.

The Deutschland, Germany, native credited the Stardom team for their help that night and as she has begun her recovery.

She has no idea when she will return or how long she will be out for as the surgery hasn’t happened yet.

“The next chapter will be the road to recovery and I hope you keep (continuing) supporting me through this chapter of my (life),” she wrote.

The 22-year-old has been a fixture in Stardom and made her AEW debut at last August’s Forbidden Door in a four-way TBS title match with Mercedes Mone, Persephone and Alex Windsor.

Josh Alexander posts statement on student Bozilla: ‘Hard work pays off’

Josh Alexander says he’s proud of his student Bozilla, who drew praise for her performance in the TBS title four-way at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.

Bozilla is the 22-year-old daughter of German wrestler Ulf Herman and also trained with Alexander at the Can-Am Wrestling School in Windsor, Ontario, which is run by Scott D’Amore, Alexander, and El Reverso.

On Tuesday, Alexander posted the following to social media:

“Can confirm I did infact train @therealbozilla at the famed Can-Am Dojo. She trusted me and worked as hard as anyone I’ve ever seen. She took to wrestling naturally and absorbed training like a sponge. Shes in the midst of conquering Japan. Once she does, who knows what next. I’m very proud of her. Hard work pays off.”

Our own Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed Bozilla’s performance at Forbidden Door on Wrestling Observer Radio, with Meltzer saying he believes she should stay in Stardom for another year or two.

“She is someone who would be better off spending at least another year or two in Japan, working with Stardom, getting better, rather than coming to the United States right now. But, the fact that people have now seen her and that she did get over in this match may, kind of, ruin that,” Meltzer said.

Bozilla was part of the inaugural roster of Rossy Ogawa’s Dream Star Marigold promotion in 2024, teaming with Sareee in the main event of the first show in a win over Giulia and Utami Hayashishita. She debuted for Stardom in June and most recently took part in the company’s 5Star Grand Prix tournament, advancing to the knockout round where she was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Suzu Suzuki.

Stardom representative revealed for TBS title match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door

The fourth entrant is official for the four-way TBS title match at Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door and it’s a rather large threat to reigning champion Mercedes Mone.

Announced on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, Stardom’s representative is the 5’11”, 200+ pound Bozilla who will be making her AEW debut on the show.

Mone and Bozilla will be joined by Alex Windsor and CMLL’s Persephone in the four-way in London, England.

The 21-year-old German native has been recently competing in the 5STAR Grand Prix 2025 and was unsuccessful in besting NJPW Strong Women’s Champion AZM in July.
