Luke Harper returns to the ring at WWE house show

Luke Harper made his in-ring return tonight.

Harper appeared tonight at a Raw house show in Rochester, New York, defeating Mojo Rawley. Although Harper was last seen on the SmackDown brand, he was at Raw tonight since Rochester is his hometown. He had teased an appearance earlier today in a tweet.

Harper took time off to get surgery on his wrist when his tag team partner Rowan tore his bicep in a match last August. He continued to compete until October, then took time off for the surgery. His last match was back on 10/1 when he defeated Tye Dillinger at a WWE house show. The last appearance of him and Rowan as a duo was on 8/21, when they dropped the SmackDown tag team titles to the New Day.

Rowan returned from his injury in late January but under a new gimmick as an associate of Daniel Bryan, dropping the Bludgeon Brothers gimmick for a flannel outfit in line with Daniel Bryan’s new character.

Tag team title match set for WWE SmackDown

A tag team title rematch is set for tonight’s SmackDown Live.

SmackDown GM Paige announced this afternoon that we’ll be seeing a rematch for the SmackDown tag team titles tonight between Anderson and Gallows and champions The Bludgeon Brothers.

“#MITB was exciting! … but that was Sunday” Paige wrote on Twitter. “This is Tuesday and tonight is #SDLive! So let’s make an exciting title match..Soooo the tag team champions, the #BludgeonBrothers will defend their titles against @LukeGallowsWWE and @KarlAndersonWWE.”

The reason for the tag team title match wasn’t made clear. The Bludgeon Brothers defeated Anderson and Gallows pretty cleanly at Money in the Bank, with the Bludgeon Brothers pinning Gallows following a double team power bomb.

In addition to the tag team title match, a gauntlet match featuring The Miz, Samoa Joe, Rusev, Daniel Bryan and Big E will determine the next challenger for the WWE title. We will also see the debut of SAnitY as they take on the Usos.

Bludgeon Brothers set to face Usos at WWE Greatest Royal Rumble

Another title match has been set for the Greatest Royal Rumble.

The Usos defeated The New Day to become the number one contenders for the SmackDown tag team titles, with Jey hitting a splash on Woods for the win. It was announced shortly thereafter that they would be facing the Bludgeon Brothers at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After the match, the Bludgeon Brothers came out and pointed their hammers at the Usos, signaling that they were next.

The Greatest Royal Rumble looks to be just as stacked as any recent giant WWE card, as it will sport seven title matches along with a first ever 50 man Royal Rumble bout. Title matches already announced include Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns in a steel cage for the Universal title, Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor vs. The Miz vs. Samoa Joe in a ladder match for the Intercontinental title and Cesaro and Sheamus vs. the winners of a upcoming Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy vs. The Revival bout on Raw next week. John Cena vs. Triple H is another bout that has been confirmed.

The event will take place on April 27 at the King Abdullah International Stadium. It will air live on the WWE Network at noon EDT.

SmackDown tag team title match set for WWE WrestleMania 34

Another multi-man match has been set for WrestleMania 34, this time a triple threat match for the Smackdown tag team titles.

It was made official tonight that the Usos will defend their titles against The New Day and the Bludgeon Brothers in a triple threat match. The New Day and The Usos have been feuding over the titles for the last year, trading the titles back and forth. But the Bludgeon Brothers have made it known that they are interested in the titles as well, and have destroyed everyone in their path since their return. The match was made after the Usos ran down during a Bludgeon Brothers/New Day match that ended with both Usos and The New Day standing tall.

Here is the current card for WrestleMania 34, now with 13 matches:

  • Triple H and Stephanie McMahon vs. Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey
  • Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal title
  • AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE title
  • Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon vs.. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
  • The Miz vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor for the Intercontinental title
  • Randy Orton vs. Bobby Roode vs. Jinder Mahal vs. Rusev for the United States title
  • Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax for the Raw women’s title
  • Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka for the SmackDown women’s title
  • Cesaro and Sheamus vs. Braun Strowman and TBA for the Raw tag team titles
  • The Usos vs. The New Day vs. The Bludgeon Brothers for the SmackDown tag team titles
  • Cedric Alexander vs. Mustafa Ali for the Cruiserweight title
  • Andre the Giant Battle Royal
  • WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal

Bludgeon Brothers to debut on WWE SmackDown next week

After six weeks of vignettes, the Bludgeon Brothers are set to debut on SmackDown next Tuesday.

The final video hyping Luke Harper and Erick Rowan’s return aired on last night’s episode, with them saying: “I don’t hear anything except for the scream. I can’t feel anything except for the cracking of bones. Every hammer needs a nail to give it purpose. And our purpose is — obliterate everyone. Harper. Rowan. Bludgeon Brothers.”

In a post-SmackDown video, WWE set up a match between the Bludgeon Brothers and the Hype Bros for next week.

Harper and Rowan previously appeared for the first time since being repackaged at SmackDown’s European tour show in Ireland. They were wearing new red and black gear and had a new theme song but went back to their old attire and song later in the tour.

Next week’s SmackDown will be the first post-Survivor Series edition of the show. In addition to fallout from that pay-per-view, SmackDown will start building to their December 17th Clash of Champions event.

Harper & Rowan returning to WWE TV as the Bludgeon Brothers

A video that aired during SmackDown last night hyped the return of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan as a repackaged tag team.

The video opened with a shot of Harper and Rowan’s backs before they turned around and revealed it was them. Both were wielding hammers and delivered a message, capping it off by announcing that their new tag team name is the Bludgeon Brothers: “There is no conscience. There’s no moral compass. The virtuous will fall. The wicked will rise. Broken bones. Severed spines. Harper. Rowan. Bludgeon Brothers.”

Neither Harper nor Rowan have been on WWE TV in months. They were feuding in their last program together, with Harper defeating Rowan at Backlash in May.

If they return as heels, they’ll be joining a tag team division that is weaker on that side outside of The Usos. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin won a fatal four-way number one contender’s match last night to become the next challengers for The Usos’ titles.

It had also been advertised that this week’s SmackDown would feature a Pulp Fiction-inspired edition of The Fashion Files, but it didn’t end up being shown as Breezango were in the number one contender’s match. Harper and Rowan had been speculated about as one of the options to eventually be revealed as their attackers from the Fashion Files segments.
