Jon Moxley vs. AJ Gray confirmed for GCW Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6

Jon Moxley will defend the GCW World Heavyweight Championship against AJ Gray during WrestleMania weekend.

Gray issued a challenge to the champion Friday night at GCW Welcome to Heartbreak. The match is now official for Spring Break 6 Part 1, which will take place on March 31st from Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. The event will air live on FITE TV.

The only other match that has been confirmed for night one is Alex Colon defending the GCW Ultraviolent Championship against John Wayne Murdoch. Sean “X-Pac” Waltman has issued a challenge to Joey Janela for the first night of Spring Break as well, however.

Gray won the Grab the Brass Ring ladder match at The WRLD on GCW last month, earning the right to name any match he wants at any time. He would announce Moxley as his chosen opponent on Friday night following his victory over ACH.

Moxley defeated Matt Cardona to win the GCW World title on September 4th, 2021 at The Art of War Games. The following month, he successfully defended the title against Nick Gage in a deathmatch at GCW Fight Club: Moxley vs. Gage. Moxley then defended the title against Homicide at The WRLD on GCW on January 23rd, 2022.

GCW Welcome to Heartbreak notes: AJ Gray challenges Jon Moxley, Janela attacks X-Pac

GCW’s Welcome to Heartbreak on Saturday night featured multiple angles setting up matches for The Collective events during WrestleMania weekend.

AJ Gray called out Jon Moxley for Spring Break, while the show closing angle saw Joey Janela turn on tag team partner Sean “X-Pac” Waltman.

Gray called for a match with Jon Moxley at Joey Janela’s Spring Break after he defeated ACH on tonight’s show. Gray won the Grab the Brass Ring ladder match at the WRLD on GCW last month which allows him to choose any match he wants at any time.

The show also featured the in-ring return of Waltman, wrestling his first match since April 2019. Following he and Janela’s victory over Matt Cardona and Brian Myers, X-Pac announced it had would be his last match. As he continued to address the crowd, however, Janela superkicked him, turning on his partner.

Cardona also interrupted a Chris Dickinson promo that took place on the show. Dickinson got in Cardona’s face and challenged him to a match at Spring Break.

Elsewhere on the show, The Briscoes called for a rematch with Nick Gage and Matt Tremont. It was noted on commentary that the match will happen at some point during The Collective. Gage and Tremont defeated the Briscoes for the GCW Tag Team Championships at the WRLD on GCW that went less than six minutes due to time constraints.

Jonathan Gresham to defend ROH title at GCW Blood on the Hills

Jonathan Gresham’s first Ring of Honor World Championship defense will take place in Game Changer Wrestling.

GCW has announced that Gresham vs. AJ Gray at their Blood on the Hills event will now be for Gresham’s ROH World Championship. Gresham vs. Gray is also now a Pure Rules match.

Blood on the Hills is taking place at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Los Angeles this Friday and will be available live via Fite TV.

Gresham became ROH World Champion by defeating Jay Lethal in the main event of Final Battle last Saturday. The title was declared vacant going into that match after Bandido had to be pulled from Final Battle due to testing positive for COVID-19. AEW allowed Lethal to return to ROH and replace Bandido as Gresham’s opponent at the pay-per-view.

Final Battle was the last ROH live event before the promotion goes on hiatus.

The Briscoes will defend their GCW Tag Team titles against Brody King & PCO at Blood on the Hills. The Briscoes currently hold both the GCW and ROH Tag Team titles.

Atticus Cogar vs. Jordan Oliver in a no ropes barbed wire match, Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green vs. Effy & Allie Katch, and Blake Christian vs. Alex Zayne are among the other matches that will be taking place at Blood on the Hills.
