AEW Collision spoilers from Albuquerque

The following are spoilers for the Thursday, May 22 edition of AEW Collision, taped Wednesday night in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after Dynamite.

Spoilers and commentary courtesy of our own Jim Valley.

Dark match —

Jon Cruz came out and asked “HOW’S IT GOING ALBUQUERQUE?” Then he said, “I DON’T REALLY CARE!” He then called “Breaking Bad” the “worst show ever on television!” Cruz added he can’t wait to win his match and get out of town.

Manny Lemons defeated Jon Cruz

Lots of playing to the crowd. Cruz getting booed. Lemons getting cheered. Bryce Remsburg got the loudest pop.

Cruz missed a dive off the top rope. Lemons crawled over to his fanny pack and pulled out (surprise!) a lemon! Unfortunately Cruz took it and elbow smashed it. Manny Lemons hit his “lemon drop” finish (fireman’s carry throw landing straight back rather than a flip over the shoulders onto the back) for the pin.

AEW Collision spoilers

Some predictable results but a lot of great matches. Worth watching.m Tony Schiavone in the ring introduced TNT Champion Adam Cole who sat in for commentary.

FTR vs. Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia contract signing

Tony introduced the two teams facing each other at Double or Nothing

Cash gave Garcia and McGuinness one more chance to reconsider. They think of Garcia like a son. Sunday, there’s no commentary table for Nigel, a shell of his former self, to hide behind.

Garcia said he cared about FTR a lot and he he still does even if they are narcissistic sociopaths. He’s standing up for Tony Schiavone, Daddy Magic, Adam Copeland and everyone who’s tired of FTR’s antics.

Garcia fired up Nigel by saying McGuinness has “still got it.” McGuinness said he needs FTR’s guarantee that they won’t touch Schiavone or he ever again. If they do, “it will be Top Guys out…for good!”

Lots of boos for FTR.

Dax said New Mexico is where the men are afraid to live in “real Mexico and the women are too ugly to live in real Mexico.” Dax told the crowd to “shut the f*ck up”. They chanted in kind. Dax gave McGuinness the option to walk back to the commentary desk and forget all of this.

Dax gave Nigel some condescending slaps to the face. Nigel and Garcia locked FTR in submissions and made Dax and Cash tap. McGuinness said “At Double or Nothing, this ENDS!”

-A Toni Storm/Mina Shirakawa video package aired.

Konosuke Takeshita & RPG Vice (Rocky Romero & Trent Beretta) (w/ Lance Archer & Don Callis on commentary) defeated The Outrunners and Bandido

Fun, action-packed match.

Triple suplexes by Bandido and The Outrunners on all the heels as we went to commercial. Rocky Romero came off the top rope and hit both Outrunners being held in the Jackal driver by Trent and Takeshita.

-Separate video packages for Gabe Kidd and The Sons of Texas aired.

Kyle Fletcher (w/ Lance Archer and Don Callis again on commentary) defeated Jay Lethal

Josh Alexander and Takeshita ran to the ring and attacked Lethal. Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong ran the heels off and saved Lethal.

Solid match. The outcome was never in question but, if you like wrestling, it’s as good of a TV match as you can ask for. Back from commercial, Cole said the Don Callis Family needs to be taught a lesson.

Paragon (Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) defeated Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake)

Strong pinned Gibson after a Total Elimination. Another good match. Right after, Cole on commentary put out the challenge: Paragon vs. Don Callis Family at Double or Nothing.

Josh Alexander (w/ Don Callis on commentary) defeated AR Fox

Alexander won with the C4 Spike. Another very good match.

During the match, announcers mentioned “Luscious” Lenny St Clair. That’s Luther early in his career.

Callis accepted the challenge so it will be Kyle Fletcher, Takeshita and Josh Alexander vs. Adam Cole, Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly at Double or Nothing.

TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defeated Reyna Isis to retain

Mone won by tap out with the Statement Maker. After the match, Jamie Hayter came out and said, “Let’s go!” Security came out and kept Hayter and Mone apart.

Mistico, Templario & Mascara Dorada defeated Los Depredadores (Volador Jr., Magnus & Rugido)

Dorada pinned Magnus with a shooting star press. Not the best Lucha match in AEW, but the best one in awhile.

-A video package aired for Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford against Anna Jay & Harley Cameron at Double or Nothing.

-Kris Statlander had some comments backstage to Willow Nightingale.

Komander & “Speedball” Mike Bailey defeated Rush & Dralistico

Bailey pinned Dralistico after a spin kick by Bailey and Cilieto Lindo by Komander. Great match. Komander did a springboard twisting Moonsault from the ring to the floor that got ridiculous height.

After the match, Okada came to the ring to confront Bailey. Bailey put out his hand. Okada flipped him off. Bailey kicked Okada outside the ring and then dove onto Okada. Bailey grabbed the Continental Championship and took it up the entrance to end the show.

Tony Khan speaks

After the show, Tony Khan came out and asked the crowd if it was true that this was only the second nationally televised wrestling show ever in New Mexico? He promised it won’t be the last.

AEW Collision Beach Break & ROH spoilers from Chicago

The following are spoilers for this Saturday’s AEW Collision Beach Break, taped Wednesday in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, following Dynamite.

Matches for Ring of Honor TV were also taped at the NOW Arena.

AEW Collision Beach Break spoilers

Kyle Fletcher defeated AR Fox

Competitive match. Good stuff. Maybe 12 minutes including commercial break. It was good but would have been better with more time. This was taped prior to Dynamite.

Steve “Mongo” McMichael tribute w/ Ric Flair live in person

Tony Schiavone stood in the entrance way to honor McMichael with pictures of Mongo on the screens. Tony brought out Mongo’s widow Misty and former Four Horseman partner Dean Malenko. Misty spoke and led the crowd in cheers.

Tony then brought out Flair who was very somber and serious.

Flair said Chicago is one of the greatest wrestling towns and mentions Chi-Town Rumble and Ricky Steamboat. “Steve McMichael is more man than any man I’ve ever known,” said Flair.

Megan Bayne (w/ Penelope Ford) defeated Anna Jay (w/ Harley Cameron)

Bayne won with Fate’s Descent. Match was fine but the finish was awkward. Ford took the padding off a top turnbuckle. Ford and Cameron fought to the back. Jay hit her back on the exposed turnbuckle. Megasus hit an awkward power bomb and then lifted Jay up for the Fate’s Descent and the pin.

Nigel McGuinness accepted FTR’s challenge

McGuiness, at the announce desk, accepted FTR’s challenge, making he and Daniel Garcia vs. FTR at Double or Nothing official.

Brody King, Tomohiro Ishii & Bandido defeated RPG Vice (Rocky Romero and Trent) & Lance Archer

Brody pinned Rocky after the cannonball. Heels attacked babyfaces afterward until The Outrunners made the save. Fun, action packed match.

“Speedball” Mike Bailey defeated Blake Christian (w/ Lee Johnson)

Christian makes everyone look great and Mike Bailey is no exception.

Bailey took the mic and called out Okada. “How about you bring your Continental Championship out here and we make it rain!” Okada came out in a suit. “Bailey. I prove it. BITCH!” Dralistico and Rush attacked Bailey from behind. Rush stepped on Bailey’s neck, made the throat slit motion, and left.

Big Bill & Bryan Keith defeated Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) in a street fight

Bill pinned Kaun. All four men wearing jeans or pants with no tights. Bill came out wearing a backpack. He handed to someone on the crew. Turns out there were bricks in the bag. A great brawl.

Lots of weapons — barbwire bat, chain bat, boards, tables, a pool cue, a metal sign, conduit, a garbage can, and more. Liona is shorter than Bill, but they match up really well size wise. Crowd chanted “MEAT!!”

Sons of Texas (Sammy Guevara & Dustin Rhodes) defeated CRU (Lio Rush & Action Andretti) to earn an AEW World Tag Team title match at Double or Nothing

Guevara pinned Andretti with a Go To Sleep. Solid, entertaining match. Sons of Texas get an AEW World Tag Team Title match vs. The Hurt Syndicate at Double or Nothing.

Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Wheeler Yuta

Hobbs pinned Yuta after a powerslam and a spinebuster.

Yuta attacked Hobbs from behind to little success. Hobbs used his power and size to foil Yuta at most every corner to start. Yuta got the advantage for several minutes. Crowd hated him. Splash off the top rope by Yuta. Two count. Hobbs came back with a clothesline, axhandle and powerslam. A series of clotheslines by Hobbs in the corner. Spinebuster for the win.

Marina Shafir attacked Hobbs from behind until Willow Nightingale’s music hit. Willow took out Shafir. Wheeler threatened Willow. Kris Statlander watched from the entrance but did nothing. Willow called Kris out on it.

Ring of Honor spoilers

La Catalina defeated Trish Adora

Catalina won with a splash off the top rope. They didn’t quite gel. Adora took most of the match. Credit for effort and unique offense but it still needs a little work. This was taped prior to Dynamite.

Atlantis Jr., Neon & Fuego beat Cavernario, Hechicero & Volador Jr.

This was taped after Collision.

Atlantis Jr. pinned Cavernario with a frog splash. I was hoping for a super high or super spectacular dive from Neon. No such luck. It was built around Atlantis Jr but Neon and Fuego were having a better night.

This match was hurt by it being so late in Chicago and the crowd not being familiar with anyone but Hechicero, who was a rudo.

AEW Collision Playoff Palooza spoilers from New Orleans

The following are spoilers for this Saturday’s AEW Collision Playoff Palooza episode, taped Wednesday in New Orleans at the Lakefront Arena.

Spoilers and commentary are from our Suit Williams.

**********

AEW Collision Playoff Palooza spoilers —

Swerve Strickland came out for a promo but the Young Bucks cut him off immediately and moved his scheduled match up…to RIGHT NOW.

Swerve Strickland defeated Blake Christian (w/ Lee Johnson)

Swerve got jumped by Johnson, disposed of him, then got jumped by the Bucks. Kenny Omega made the save, and fist bumped with Swerve afterward.

Toni Storm defeated Queen Aminata in an AEW Women’s World title eliminator match

I swear to God, they traded hip attacks during this match like forearms.

Hologram defeated Max Caster in a Caster open challenge

People were actually doing Max’s super dumb chant, but he lost to the Hologram Slam (which is actually called the Portal Bomb). Max crawled to the back like a worm after his loss.

Anna Jay defeated Taylor Gainey

Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne attacked Jay after the match with Bayne laying her out with Fate’s Descent. This was Jay’s first AEW match since mid-December and first match anywhere since mid-January.

Cru (Lio Rush & Action Andretti) defeated Top Flight (Darius Martin & Dante Martin) (w/ Leila Grey) in a tornado tag match

Andretti shoved Darius into Grey, knocking her off the apron, then hit their finishes to win.

ROH World Champion Bandido defeated Dralistico to retain

There was a botched rana off the apron that took the steam out of the crowd, but Bandido got them back with a pair of dives. Bandido won with the 21-Plex.

Rush defeated AR Fox

Rush won with The Bull’s Horns.

FTR (w/ Stokely Hathaway) defeated Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly

Strong & O’Reilly came out to End of Heartache by Killswitch Engage, Strong’s long-time theme on the independents. After the match, Daniel Garcia returned to run off FTR. He said he would continue to chase them until he made them pay.

AEW Dynamite off-air notes, Ring of Honor TV spoilers from Boston

The following are off-air notes from Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite and matches taped for future Ring of Honor TV from the MGM Music Hall in Boston.

AEW Dynamite off-air:

Samoa Joe did a promo after the Trios title win, saying he is like Tom Brady and doesn’t lose in Massachusetts, noting it is where he has won all his major titles.

He then said to everyone in the ring, “Let’s party tonight!”

A fired up Tony Khan then came out and thanked everyone for being there from episode one to 289. He then pushed Collision hard for tomorrow and is looking forward to another 289 episodes.

Ring of Honor spoilers:

  • ROH Women’s TV Champion Red Velvet defeated La Catalina to retain: Velvet got the win with a single leg crab while using the ropes for leverage. This was Velvet’s first match since late-January due to injury.
  • Nick Wayne (w/ Mother Wayne) defeated Michael Oku (w/ Amira): Fans were into Oku who was a surprise in his first AEW match since August 2024. Wayne got the win after hitting Wayne’s World after Kip Sabin interfered.

AEW Collision & ROH TV spoilers from Peoria, Illinois

The following are spoilers for this Saturday’s AEW Collision in addition a future episode of Ring of Honor TV, taped Wednesday following Dynamite in Peoria, Illinois.

Ring of Honor TV:

ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes, Ross Von Erich & Marshall Von Erich defeated Dominic Garrini, Kevin Ku & a third enhancement wrestler

Marshall got the pin with a claw into an airplane spin and then a claw slam in kind of a sloppy match. The opponents seemed inexperienced. Not the Von Erichs fault.

AEW Collision:

Announcers are Tony Schiavone, along with Don Callis sitting in for Nigel McGuiness.

Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita defeated Powerhouse Hobbs & Tomohiro Ishii (w/ Rocky Romero)

Fletcher pinned Ishii after two Protodrivers, a variation of a tombstone. Fun, action-packed match. Afterward, Fletcher and Takeshita posed with a ringside fan dressed up like Callis.

Max Caster’s Open Challenge

We learned another Caster open challenge will happen Sunday at Dynasty. Here on Collision, it was answered by Mark Briscoe. Briscoe made quick work of Caster and pinned him with the Jay Driller. He crawled almost the entire way to the back.

PAC defeated Cash Wheeler

Solid match. Claudio Castagnoli came to ringside, Cope cut him off and they started brawling. Dax Harwood ran into the ring, only to get nailed by Wheeler Yuta. Cash gave Yuta a piledriver. PAC caught Cash in a crucifix and pinned him. Cope, Dax and Cash shook hands and hugged in a show of unity.

– Backstage, a face-to-face interview with Kris Statlander and Thunder Rosa talking about how facing each other in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament is nothing personal. So, of course, it got personal.

Top Flight defeated CRU (Lio Rush & Action Andretti)

Dante Martin pinned Andretti with a crucifix (same finish as last match). Leila Grey came out by herself at first, allowing Darius and Dante to attack CRU from behind. Fun match. Lots of action and the crowd was behind Top Flight. AR Fox came out after the match to help Top Flight. Nick Wayne followed closely after, helping CRU to lay out Top Flight and Fox.

– Backstage, Harley Cameron and Mercedes Mone with Mini Mone were stretching and arguing over their tag team match coming up.

“Speedball” Mike Bailey defeated Dralistico (w/ Beast Mortos)

Bailey won with a spinning heel kick. Ricochet was on commentary. After the match, Ricochet snuck into the ring and kicked Bailey low from behind, leaving Speedball laying on the canvas.

Julia Hart & Athena defeated Mercedes Mone & Harley Cameron

Hart made Cameron tap to the Octopus Hold. Mone seemed to make the conscious choice not to save her partner and slowly backed up the aisle on her own. Hart, who was in the ring for most of the match, looked good. When they were in together, Athena and Mone had great chemistry. Athena did a fall away slam on both Harley and Mercedes at the same time. Julia dove off the ring post onto the other three women at one point.

AEW Collision Slam Dunk and ROH TV spoilers from Omaha, Nebraska

The following are spoilers for the AEW Collision Slam Dunk Saturday and Slam Dunk Sunday episodes airing this weekend, taped Wednesday after Dynamite in Ralston, Nebraska, at Liberty First Credit Union Arena.

Additionally, a segment was taped for future Ring of Honor TV.

Ring of Honor TV:

The Outrunners (with the Omaha Mavericks Bull mascot) put over how the Mavericks were going to win in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament Thursday night.

The Infantry came out, ran down the team and Omaha. The Outrunners grabbed trash cans, hit The Infantry and sent them backstage. The Outrunners elbow dropped the trash can, and celebrated with The Bull.

AEW Collision Slam Dunk Saturday spoilers:

TNT Champion Daniel Garcia and Adam Cole went to a 20-minute time limit draw

Great match. Time ran out just as Cole was going to hit the Boom.

Julia Hart defeated Queen Aminata

Hart pinned Aminata to win the best of three series, two to one.

Aminata hit a hip attack outside on Hart sitting in a chair that looked stiff. It looked like it smashed Hart’s head in between the guard rail and Aminata’s hip. They showed it in replay and it looked bad as Hart had a little blood coming from her nose. Aminata went for the Off With Her Head, Julia moved, and rolled Aminata up for the pin.

Brian Cage, Lance Archer & Konosuke Takeshita (w/ Don Callis) defeated Mark Briscoe, Rocky Romero & Powerhouse Hobbs

Takeshita pinned Romero after Raging Fire. Very good, very fun match. Tons of action.

AEW Collision Slam Dunk Sunday spoilers:

AEW Trios Champions The Death Riders defeated Top Flight & AR Fox to retain

Very fun, if not perfect, match. Fox is over in Nebraska. After the match, Lio Rush and Action Andretti laid out Top Flight and choked them with necklace chains.

Bandido defeated Johnny TV

Bandido and TV didn’t gel as well as I expected. After the match, Bandido demanded Chris Jericho bring his brother’s mask (Gravity) out right now. Jericho, carrying the mask, came out with Big Bill and Bryan Keith. Jericho said you can only take him for granted for so long before he starts taking back. Jericho’s sorry to make Bandito’s mother cry, but he had to teach him a lesson.

Jericho puts Gravity’s mask on, calling it a bigger insult than taking it. Bandido threw a bad punch, kicked Keith, escaped Big Bill, grabbed Gravity’s mask, and escaped to the floor to celebrate getting his brother’s mask back.

As Jericho was leaving the ring, a little boy probably eight years old, flipped Jericho off. Jericho told the kid to go to his room. They went back and forth. Jericho pointed to his abs. The kid lifted his shirt, showing abs of his own. Kid was cut. Jericho fought it, but he did smile and asked the kid, “Are you on the gas?” Crowd popped huge for the kid. I hope they put it on social if not television.

Harley Cameron defeated Amina Belmont

Cameron pinned Belmont with her finishing move in a quick match. Cameron stayed at ringside, joining commentary for the next match.

Titanes del Aire (Hologram & Komander) defeated Dralistico & Beast Mortos

Komander pinned Dralistico after a Blue Thunder Bomb by Hologram and the Celito Lindo by Komander. Crowd loved it. Everything you’ve seen and expect from these four. Maybe their best outing together.

Cameron had to leave to “call a friend.” After the break, who should appear, but the mysterious Harleygram, wearing Cameron’s exact tights. Pure coincidence, I’m sure. She cheered with Alex Abrahantes at ringside.

Harleygram and Mortos went face to face. Dralistico told Mortos to get a grip. So, the Mortos and Harleygram romance continues.

Saturday’s show will air at 8 PM Eastern on TNT, going head-to-head with the WWE Royal Rumble.

**********

Rush (w/ LFI) defeated Max Caster

This was Caster’s first open challenge and he got crushed. Afterward, Rush took the mic and yelled at Mortos.

Samoa Joe & Hook defeated Nick Wayne & Kip Sabian

Joe pinned Sabian after a muscle buster. Right after the pin, Christian hit Joe and Hook with his metal folder and left them laying in the ring.

Chris Jericho & Bryan Keith (w/ Big Bill) defeated The Outrunners

Bill tripped Truth Magnum which led to Keith cradling Turbo Floyd for the pin.

Bill beat up both Outrunners after the match. Jericho and Keith set up a table. Bill was about to chokeslam both Outrunners when Bandido’s music hit. He attacked Bill, hit a tornillo on Jericho, and press slammed Keith through the table.

FTR defeated Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta in a Mid-South street fight

This started before it got to the ring. Mox and Wheeler brawled with FTR around the ring and the stands.

It was essentially a Texas Tornado match. Marina Shafir interfered sending Cash Wheeler into the ring post. Mox tried to use pliers on Dax Harwood’s nose and teeth. Mox brought a black bag into the ring and emptied thumbtacks out onto the mat. Cash gave Mox a spinebuster onto the tacks. Mox set up a table in the corner. Dax used a metal hook to low blow Mox. Marina got on Dax’s back. Both fell into the table in the corner, taking Marina out. Claudio interfered. Jay White and Adam Copeland came out.

FTR gave Wheeler a spike piledriver on the announce desk for the pin.

FTR, Cope and White took turns hitting finishes on Mox. Jay White got a chair, but Claudio saved Mox, pulling him from the ring.

Timeless” Toni Storm promo

Standing in a spotlight, she wsa wearing an evening gown with her hair done up. She confesses that she has been playing a role for the past six weeks. “Nobody realized this because – BY GOD – I’m good!”

When Mariah May took everything, Storm was embarrassed and ashamed. She had to run away.

“Pussy-faced fraud! You shambolic bitch! It doesn’t get much more real than me because I AM TIMELESS TONI STORM AND YOUR TIME IS OVER!!!”

Megan Bayne defeated Hyena Hera

Bayne pinned Hera with an F5.

Harley Cameron defeated Taya Valkyrie

Harley was babyface-ish here and got some chants. I’m not sure Taya was the best opponent for Harley.

TNT Champion Daniel Garcia (w/ Daddy Magic) defeated Kyle O’Reilly & Lee Moriarty (w/ Shane Taylor) in a three-way title defense

Garcia rolled up and pinned Moriarty. This was maybe the best Collision match of the night. Lots of action with a mix of strikes, wrestling and high flying. One fun spot: all three knocked each other down with three simultaneous standing kicks to the head.

After the match, The Infantry with the rest of STP surrounded O’Reilly, Garcia and Daddy Magic. Undisputed Kingdom’s music hit and out came Adam Cole and Roderick Strong to chase Shane Taylor Promotions away.

Off-air Story time with Adam Cole

Cole thanked the fans and said they were the best. Daniel Garcia asked to do the Adam Cole catchphrase with him to end the night.

AEW Collision Maximum Carnage spoilers from Cincinnati

The following are spoilers for this Saturday’s AEW Collision edition of Maximum Carnage, taped Thursday in Cincinnati.

**********

There were a few more empty seats than Dynamite on Wednesday, but mostly full as Cincinnati got another solid show.

Backstage pre-tape with Cope, Powerhouse Hobbs, FTR and The Outrunners

Hobbs says he’s got a bad leg but he’s going to limp out there and kick ass.

Hangman Page defeated Christopher Daniels in a violent Texas Death Match

Page dominated early with barbed wire and a power bomb through chairs. Daniels bled quite a bit. His blood was all over the mat. Caster said Bowens has to choose between Caster or “washed up Billy Gunn.” Bowens went to scissor Caster, but instead flipped him off. Caster said he’s breaking up the team.
