AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us and is joined by Taz & Tony Schiavone as the music for the AEW World Champion hits and we’re starting with our first Title Eliminator of the evening.

AEW World Champion MJF defeated Konosuke Takeshita in a Title Eliminator Match

(An excellent, action packed opener with the crowd loudly behind Takeshita. Had Takeshita won this, he would’ve gotten a title match next week, but it was not meant to be, as MJF was victorious in only his second match in about two months.)

MJF suckered Takeshita into a handshake, but Takeshita quickly turned the tables with ten corner punches and jumping knee. MJF pulled the ref in front of him to attack the arm of Takeshita before trash talking the crowd. MJF hammerlocked the arm and hit a cradle DDT off of it for a near fall. Takeshita reversed a whip into a corner Exploder, as that was followed by two corner boots. Takeshita hit a perfect brainbuster, but MJF kicked out at two. A perfect tribute to Eddie Guerrero in El Paso by Takeshita who did the Eddie shimmy before connecting with a Frog Splash to get another two count. Takeshita connected with a driver into a wheelbarrow German, as MJF was sent to the floor to regroup.

MJF tried to post Takeshita, but the tables were turned and MJF ate the steel to You Deserve It chants. Back inside, Takeshita tried a moonsault, was crotched, as MJF went for a back suplex, but Takeshita tried his home run lariat, only for MJF to land on his feet. MJF tried to throw a shot, but Takeshita turned him inside out with a lariat. Takeshita draped his bad arm over MJF, who immediately sank in Salt of the Earth, but Takeshita escaped. MJF was sent outside and Takeshita wiped him out with a somersault dive. As MJF got back in the ring, he shoved the ref and got a low blow to take over and zone in on the bad arm.

Both men traded strikes until Takeshita tried a hurricanrana, but MJF countered into a powerbomb on his knee. MJF clutched his own knee and ran right into a Blue Thunder Bomb for two, as Takeshita followed with his pump knee, but MJF got the rope break. Takeshita missed the senton atomico, as MJF sank in Salt of the Earth again, repositioned and cranked back at the arm until Takeshita tapped.

Post match, MJF got his Dynamite Diamond ring from the ref; pie faced him down and clocked Takeshita with it, busting him open. Bryan Danielson sprinted out, but the damage was done, as Takeshita was left lying.

-A video package is shown of Samoa Joe talking about regaining the TNT title last week. He mentions Wardlow wanting to take his TNT title from him, but he’ll take everything from Wardlow in return.

AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter (w/Britt Baker & Rebel) defeated The Bunny (w/Penelope Ford) in a Title Eliminator Match

(Not sure if this was supposed to go longer, but Bunny landed really rough on a second Exploder by Hayter. We came back from commercial and got about 30 seconds before the finish. I hope she’s ok after taking that rough bump, as she was helped to the back while Hayter was celebrating her win on the ramp.)

An early series of shoulder blocks by Hayter was quickly thwarted as The Bunny did her corner leg choke. Hayter responded with a suplex back into the ring, as Bunny suckered her in on the other side of the ring with a neck breaker through the ropes and snap suplex into the ring steps. Bunny controlled the action during break, as we came back to Penelope Ford ripping away a sign from Britt Baker, tearing it up. Hayter hit one Exploder, but the second dropped Bunny right on her head awkwardly. Hayter just pulled Bunny up and hit Hayter-ade for the win.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Toni Storm & Saraya, who call Hayter a loser before calling in Leva Bates. Saraya & Storm attack Bates; spray painting an L on her like they did the Renegade Twins on Rampage this past week. They said they aren’t here to make friends.

**********

-Lexy Nair is at MJF’s dressing room, as he says Takeshita wasn’t a match for a generational talent like himself. MJF doesn’t know if they people hate him because he’s twisted or if he’s twisted because they hate him. He tells a story about how in high school he got in a car accident with a girl he liked. She cracked her head on his windshield and when met with adversity and the cops came, he switched seats with her to make it look like she was driving. In this life, there are winners and losers; tonight he’ll expose Bryan Danielson for the loser that he is. MJF said he’s proud of being a scumbag.

Ricky Starks defeated Angelo Parker to advance in the Garcia-Guevara Gauntlet

Parker got a quick eye rake and snap suplex, as. Starks tried a Roshambo, but Parker raked the eyes. Starks ducked a shot and hit a Spear for the quick win.

Ricky Starks defeated Matt Menard to advance in the Garcia-Guevara Gauntlet

Menard tried a sneak attack, but was quickly rolled up and pinned in near record time.

Daniel Garcia defeated Ricky Starks

(Had Starks defeated Garcia, he would’ve faced Chris Jericho immediately after, as this appears to be the direction they’re going for Revolution I would assume.)

Garcia & Sammy Guevara both came out and didn’t let Starks know who he’d face next until the last second. Garcia got the quick attack and controlled nearly the entire break. Garcia had a guillotine choke applied off a Spear counter, but Starks powered up into a powerbomb. Starks went up top, Garcia cut him off with a superplex, held on, but Starks turned it into a Northern Lights Bomb for two. Both men found each other battling on the apron with forearms and slaps until Starks hit a Spear on the apron. As Starks got up, he was clocked with a Judas Effect by a masked fan in the crowd. Garcia rolled Starks back in the ring and pinned immediately. The masked man unmasked to be Chris Jericho, as Guevara & Garcia acted shocked.

-The Acclaimed are backstage with Renee Paquette. Daddy Ass said he’s going to stay in the back for the Tag Team title match, as Caster approved, but Bowens was a little hesitant before asking Daddy Ass to scissor him.

**********

-Renee Paquette is back in the trainer’s room with Konosuke Takeshita & Bryan Danielson before they hear the door lock and Rush’s music hit. Rush made his entrance, as MJF walked out soon after. MJF tells “sweet cheeks” Aubrey Edwards that since Bryan Danielson is scheduled for a match, she needs to ring the bell to start the match. Edwards just does this, as Danielson bursts through the locked door, while Preston Vance & Jose the Assistant try to attack, but Takeshita fends them off. Ref Aubrey counts as slow as possible, as Danielson sprints to the ring and the match is on.

Bryan Danielson defeated Rush

(Danielson officially stamps his ticket to Revolution and the Ironman Match against MJF is set. This match was arguably the best hoop Danielson has had to jump through yet, as this was an absolute war, which is something I’ve said multiple times during this run of matches from Danielson. The crowd was phenomenal for this match also.)

MJF joined commentary, as Rush quickly hit a corner splash and snap dropkick to the back. Danielson started a chop battle, which turned into headbutts, only for Rush to hit a comeback German and chucking Danielson into the railing outside. Danielson is bleeding and Rush went to lick his hand clean of the blood, which is just downright gross, but thankfully ref Aubrey stopped that from happening. Rush is just battering Danielson on the floor, but Danielson fought back on the apron with a violent slap battle. Danielson charged at Rush, who hit an overhead throw to the floor and the blood from Danielson’s hair flew right onto the camera in a pretty cool moment.

Rush controlled the entire commercial and could’ve ended things presumably at one point, but pulled back on the Bulls Horns and opted for the LIJ pose. Danielson tried to battle back and nearly got the LeBell Lock, but Rush got the ropes. Rush tried to side step a dive from Danielson, who put on the brakes and hit one out of the corner to the floor. Danielson hit a charging dropkick against the railing and a perfect top rope dropkick back inside. Another brutal chop battle ensued, as Rush tried Bulls Horns, but Danielson hit his corner dropkick. Rush cut him off with a straightjacket piledriver, but Danielson kicked out. Rush relentlessly threw forearms, went for Bulls Horns again, but Danielson popped up and hit a Busaiku Knee for a close two.

Forearm battle turned led to nearly twenty back and forth headbutts, as Rush tried another comeback German, but Danielson landed on his feet and hit another Busaiku Knee to win an absolute classic. MJF quickly hit the ring, clocked Danielson with his Dynamite Diamond ring and locked on Salt of the Earth before he attacked security guards. Three of these guards couldn’t get MJF off Danielson.

**********

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Brian Quinn & James Murray from Impractical Jokers, as Murr has Floyd the bat from Chris Jericho, who has been on their show. They’re on to plug the new season of their show. Jericho isn’t getting Floyd back until he responds to them during their show tomorrow night.

The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) w/Don Callis, Michael Nakazawa & Brandon Cutler) defeated AR Fox & Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin) to retain the AEW Trios Titles

(Wow, not a lot happened prior to the commercial break, but once they returned, this picked up in a huge way and turned into exactly what you’d expect from these six men.)

Fast start from Top Flight & Fox on all of The Elite to get them in control early, as Nick made a blind tag to Matt, as The Bucks hit their somersault neck breaker combo. Fox tried to charge in, but Omega quickly dunked him to the mat. Omega made the tag; he lit up Darius with strikes as The Elite remained in control over the whole break. Darius managed to block a superkick and hit a Spanish Fly on Matt to make the tag to Fox, who rolled through a dive to Omega and hit a senton on Nick. Fox fought off all The Elite with various cutters before wiping out The Bucks with a dive, then Omega with one on the opposite side. One more for good measure, he took out The Bucks with a somersault dive.

Back inside, Omega was dropped with a senton atomico and Lo Mein Pain by Fox, who tagged Dante. To the shock of no one, Dante showed off his amazing athleticism until Matt cut him off with the locomotion Northern Lights. Dante avoided the third, made the blind tag to his brother as Matt hit a Northern Lights on both Top Flight, while stacking Fox at the same time. 15% by the Bucks caused a miscommunication as Dante spiked Nick with a DDT for a close two. Fox hit an inverted 450 to the floor onto everyone not named Nick Jackson, as he was hit with the Nose Dive by Top Flight, while Fox hit a 450 for two, as Omega broke it up at the last second.

Fox went for another Lo Mein Pain on Nick in the corner, but Omega cut him off with a Snap Dragon off the ropes. Dante wiped out Omega with a flying lariat, as Matt ran wild with superkicks and standing sliced bread. Fox charged but was dropped with the assisted More Bang for your Buck. Nick, with help from his brother, hit a moonsault to the floor to wipe out Top Flight, as Omega hit Fox with a V-Trigger and Doctor Bomb for two. Another V-Trigger and One Winged Angel attempt, which Fox rolled through for two. Fox & Omega traded pin attempts before Omega ultimately got the pin.

-Lexy Nair is backstage with Stokely Hathaway, who said there are no cracks in The Firm. All the problems stem from HOOK, who walked up behind Hathaway and put him in an arm bar. Nair pleaded for him to let go, as he told him to be cautious of his words.

**********

The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn) defeated The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) to win the AEW Tag Team titles

(I didn’t care for this match at all; it was way too much nonsense to lead to the finish. It is what it is, as the hot crowd most of the night seemed more stunned than angry. The final shot of the show of The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn just standing there was awkward too. After such an entertaining episode of Dynamite, this was a very questionable finish to the show to say the least.)

Both Colten & Austin were picked apart early until Austin was hit with Scissor Me Timbers which allowed Bowens & Caster to scissor for the crowd. After a dive by Caster, the Gunns took control during commercial and kept Caster isolated. Caster was able to get free to make the Bowens hot tag, as he ran wild with a series of strikes. A reverse Rough Ryder by Bowens got two, but miscommunication by The Acclaimed allowed The Gunns to regain control.

Bowens tried a discus forearm on Austin, who pulled the ref in front of him and the ref bumped outside. Austin hit a Quick Draw on Bowens, grabbed the title, but Billy Gunn hit the ring. He shoved Bowens out of the way and Colten hit his father with the AEW Tag Title belt. Bowens hit The Arrival on Austin, Caster hit The Mic Drop, but there was no ref. Colten sent Caster into the railing, as Colten also broke up the pin attempt by the groggy ref. Bowens tried a roll up, but was sent into the ropes where he was clocked by Colten with the title belt. Austin got the pin and the ref slowly counted three.

Post match, The Gunns stared down The Acclaimed & their father from the ramp as the new champs music just awkwardly stopped and Caster, Bowens & Gunn just stood there until The Acclaimed music played to end the show, which was really weird.

**********

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Taz & Tony Schiavone as Ohio’s own Jon Moxley makes his entrance through the crowd with his father Danny and Wheeler Yuta.

Jon Moxley defeated Hangman Adam Page

(This was a fantastic Pay Per View caliber match for the opening contest tonight. The crowd was very much into it, which should surprise no one, as Moxley was super over in his hometown area. I liked the finish, as this feud could and should absolutely continue.)

Moxley attacked Page prior to the bell and brawled into the crowd. Page hit a running boot, but Moxley quickly applied a Figure Four, which Page escaped by throwing a beer in the face of Moxley. Both men spilled back ringside, where Moxley tried to Pillmanize Page’s ankle, but as the ref was admonishing him, Page chucked the chair at Moxley’s face, which busted his eye open. A snap suplex on the chair followed, as both rolled into the ring and the referee officially start the match. Page won the forearm battle until Moxley hit a low dropkick and again went back to the Figure Four. Page fought back with Moxley being hampered by the blood getting into his eye, as Page viciously zoned in.

Moxley tried fighting back, but Page hit a fall away slam, but Moxley leveled Page while trying a springboard lariat. Moxley locked on a rear naked choke on the apron, but Page avoided a piledriver, while Moxley avoided Dead Eye. Page got a fireman’s carry and was tossed face first onto the buckle. Moxley fought off the onslaught back in the ring, raking and biting the back in the corner. Page bit free and answered with an Avalanche Death Valley Driver for two. Page screamed at Moxley to stay down and that wasn’t happening, as he hit a desperation Cutter for a double down.

A strike exchange with forearms, chops and kicks led to each man hitting the other with back drop drivers. Moxley connected with a front chancery superplex into the Bulldog choke and poured down stomps. Page avoided Death Rider and got a rope break to escape a cross arm breaker. Moxley was backdropped to the floor, as Page missed his moonsault and Moxley turned him inside out with a lariat. Moxley cleaned off a table, but was immediately put through it by a Page pop up powerbomb. Moxley beat the count at nine, but ran right into a lariat and Dead Eye for a close two. Page missed a Curb Stomp, as Moxley hit a home run King Kong lariat. Another forearm exchange led to a gnarly small package driver by Page for two. Both man traded counters to their finishes, as Page hit a Tombstone Piledriver and Buckshot Lariat, but Moxley kicked out as the crowd exploded. Page applied his own Bulldog Choke, but Moxley was able to hook the leg and trap Page into a flash pin.

Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta stepped in the ring to help out Moxley, as Page wanted to keep going. Commentary said Moxley couldn’t have been happy with that not being a definitive win, as both Moxley & Page showed they still had energy to keep going.

-Backstage Renee Paquette is with AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter, The Bunny, The Butcher & The Blade. Bunny congratulated Hayter on beating Emi Sakura next week and challenged the champ to a Title Eliminator match next week. Renee quickly threw it to the screen above them where Saraya & Toni Storm were beating down Britt Baker as Hayter ran away to make the save.

AEW Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed (Max Caster & Anthony Bowens w/Daddy Ass) defeated The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd)

(The match was quick, but the post match really makes me fear Daddy Ass will turn on The Acclaimed to help his sons, which is something I hope doesn’t happen.)

Caster’s rap compared The Outrunners to the bootleg Beverly Brothers, as The Acclaimed quickly hit Scissor Me Timbers, The Arrival and Mic Drop to win this easily. They even got a triple scissor with Daddy Ass for good measure.

The Gunns immediately came to the ring to officially challenge for the Tag Team titles. Bowens called them Rod & Todd and asked the crowd if the Ass Boys deserve a shot, which got boos. They all got into a scuffle until Daddy Ass said he’s had enough and told The Acclaimed to beat his sons up. Austin told his dad to leave like he used to do and go drown his sorrows in the bottom of a pill bottle. After a brief mic malfunction, Daddy Ass said next week The Gunns get a Tag Team title shot, which baffled The Acclaimed. The Gunns got what they were looking for.

-Alex Marvez is backstage with Jungle Boy Jack Perry and asks what is next for JungleHOOK, as Perry said he’s done the tag team thing before and it didn’t work out. This year, he will be champion again, a singles champion.

Konosuke Takeshita defeated ROH Six Man Champion Brian Cage (w/Prince Nana)

(Action packed match here with Takeshita getting the biggest win in his AEW career thus far.)

Takeshita got a hot start with forearms, Takeshita-line and slingshot cross body to the floor. Takeshita tried to keep it up, but Cage caught him with a powerbomb on the ramp. Back inside, both men traded strikes until Takeshita hit a beautiful Blue Thunder Bomb for two. Takeshita missed a charging corner knee that took him to the floor, as Cage brought him back in with a suplex from the apron back inside.

Cage controlled the action during commercial with the 818 and nasty overhead release German suplex. Takeshita rolled through a Buckle Bomb attempt and hit a dropkick off the second rope for the double down. Takeshita hit a lariat and stalling German suplex, but missed the jumping knee. Cage tried a Death Valley Driver, but Takeshita countered into a Liger Bomb for two. Takeshita was planted with a back drop driver and lariat to put Cage back in control, but missed Drill Claw and Takeshita hit two brainbusters. Cage again avoided the jumping knee and hit the F5, as they went to the ropes and Takeshita hit an Avalanche Brainbuster followed by the running knee to get the win.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with the Jericho Appreciation Society, who said they didn’t cheat to defeat Ricky Starks & Action Andretti. Jericho said if Starks wants another match with him, he’ll need to win the Garcia Guevara Gauntlet. Starks must beat Angelo Parker, Matt Menard and either Garcia or Guevara, they will let him know the last second. Jericho said they call the shots and he’s ready to whip his ass.

**********

-The Elite are back in a gym with Don Callis & Michael Nakazawa and Kenny Omega accepts Top Flight & AR Fox’s challenge for the Trios Titles next week. Omega said if they want to shoot their shot, they better not miss, as Nick Jackson hit a jumper. Ethan Page, Stokely Hathaway, Matt Hardy & Isiah Kassidy interrupted with Page challenging them to a match on Rampage, which The Elite accepted.

Bryan Danielson defeated Timothy Thatcher

(The facial expressions of Timothy Thatcher are just so fantastic, there’s nothing like a Thatcher mean mug. Danielson survived this war, one that I wish would’ve lasted even longer. This was an impressive debut for Thatcher and impressive victory for Danielson.)

Thatcher had a smirk on his face from the jump, as he was just waiting to pour on the punishment to Danielson and the injured arm. Joint manipulation early by Thatcher, as Danielson responded with strikes and bow and arrow. Thatcher escaped, with Danielson hitting his corner dropkick, but Thatcher absorbed it and drove Danielson down shoulder first onto the mat, applying a key lock.

Thatcher controlled most of the break with Danielson nearly getting the LeBell Lock, only for Thatcher to go right back after the shoulder. Thatcher trapped the bad arm and hit an overhead throw, as they went up to the ropes where Thatcher wanted a butterfly superplex, which Danielson fought free from with a top rope dropkick. An uppercut exchange occurred with Danielson switching to kicks and anvil elbows. Danielson applied a rear naked choke, which Thatcher wrenched at the wrist to escape, as they charged to the corner where there was a ref bump.

Right on cue, MJF wlked out with his diamond ring, but was wiped out by Konosuke Takeshita, who brawled with MJF to the back. The ref recovered as Thatcher applied his Fujiwara Armbar, but Danielson got the ropes. The belly to belly throw connected, as Danielson avoided the second attempt with a release German and Busaiku Knee for the win.

MJF & Takeshita are shown brawling backstage until finally security and agents Pat Buck & BJ Whitmer pull them apart. Renee Paquette steps between them both and said Tony Khan has signed a Title Eliminator match next week between the two.

-Vignette from Swerve Strickland and Mogul Affiliates is shown talking about Dustin Rhodes and their run in last week on Rampage. They’ve decided to target Brian Pillman Jr. on Rampage this week and Swerve referred the previously unnamed member of his crew as Trench, I think that’s what he called him.

**********

-Lexy Nair is backstage with Rush, Jose the Assistant & Preston Vance and is told he’s facing Bryan Danielson next week. MJF walks in with a briefcase and says the first one is for them, next week he needs to rip of Danielson’s arm and beat him over the head with it. If Rush does that, he’ll get another briefcase full of cash.

Jade Cargill (w/Leila Grey) defeated Red Velvet to retain the TBS Title

(This was the match that suffered from picture in picture and except for the awesome press by Cargill, there wasn’t a ton noteworthy aside from Cargill going to 50-0 and celebrating with her daughter post match.)

Velvet tried to attack early, but Cargill mowed her down with a back elbow. Velvet used her quickness to send Cargill to the floor with Grey where Velvet hit a dropkick through the ropes. Back inside, Velvet roll up for two, but as she tried a cazadora, Cargill hit a slam. Cargill caught Velvet leaping off the apron with a cross body and drove her into the post. In a spot that shouldn’t have happened during picture in picture, but instead on full screen, Cargill pressed Velvet over her head on the floor and walked up the steps to throw Velvet back in the ring.

Velvet fought back with a lungblower, but Cargill responded with a pump kick for two. Kiera Hogan hit the ringside area and threw Grey into the steps. Velvet hit a spin kick on Cargill, but referee Aubrey was too busy kicking out Hogan and missed the visible pin. Velvet applied an arm submission, but Cargill powered out, swinging Velvet into Jaded to retain the title. Cargill brought her daughter in to celebrate with her and made her way to the back.

-Renee Paquette is backstage asking Britt Baker how she was doing following her attack by Saraya & Toni Storm earlier. Ruby Soho interrupted and asked as well, saying she had nothing to do with that, which Baker didn’t really believe. Baker said she’s fine, as Soho walked off.

**********

ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe defeated Darby Allin in a No Holds Barred Match to win the TNT Title

(What a violent war of a rubber match this was between these two. Joe put the end to an awfully impressive Allin title reign and we’re off to the races for Joe’s first program as two time TNT champion. I’m hoping Allin can enjoy at least a week off after defending his title on every show the last month, he’s certainly earned it.)

Allin showed up wearing a hoodie covered in tacks, as he charged Joe immediately with a corner charge. Joe wisely wrapped his towel around his hand and punched at Allin, ripping the hoodie off. Joe pulled a table out from under the ring, but didn’t see a charging Allin wipe him out, busting Joe open. Allin set up the steps to whip Joe, who in return whipped Allin clear over the steps into the crowd where the action spilled. Up the steps they went as Joe hit a hip toss over a railing. Joe chucked Allin back over the ringside railing and I believe Allin smacked his head on the steps in the process.

Joe kept up his beating during commercial before Allin had a hope spot that was thwarted by a STO in the corner. Allin was booted to the floor where Joe set up another table against the railing. Desperation jawbreaker and chops from Allin, as Joe responded by just launching Allin over the top rope to the floor like a t-shirt you’d fling off as Taz described. After a brainbuster, Joe tossed chairs into the ring and hit a back suplex on the edge of them, as Allin had powder to blind Joe to avoid a powerbomb into the Code Red. An over the top stunner from Allin allowed him to put back on the thumbtack hoodie to hit a Coffin Drop for two. Thankfully for Joe, Allin wasn’t able to get the hoodie on all the way.

Allin had a switchblade and started ripping away at the canvas and mat to expose the wood. Joe rolled to the floor and suckered Allin into diving through the ropes, missed and went right through the table. Back inside, Joe powerbombed Allin on the thumbtack hoodie and wrapped it around Allin’s face. Allin fought back, but as he went for the Coffin Drop, Joe shoved the ref into the ropes to crotch Allin. Joe hit an Avalanche Muscle Buster on the exposed wood and won the TNT Title.

Post match, Joe was about to celebrate until a returning Wardlow hit the ring and took down the new champion. Wardlow has a new hair cut thanks to Joe last month and was about to hit a Powerbomb Symphony, but Joe bailed. Security tried to hold back Wardlow, but he laid them all out, looking to powerbomb one from the ring to the floor as the show ended before we could see it. I obviously was hoping to see what was going to happen instead of cutting to the opening of Power Slap.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with Judas already playing as Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara make their way to the ring with Daniel Garcia by their side.

Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara (w/Daniel Garcia) defeated Ricky Starks & Action Andretti

(Much needed victory for the Jericho Appreciation Society over the two who have been thorns in their side this year. I liked this opener was shown in its entirety and not broken up by picture in picture or commercials. This made the match far more enjoyable.)

Andretti & Guevara showed off their speed early on with a series of counters before Andretti tried a standing moonsault, Guevara moved and we had a face off. Guevara popped Andretti with a superkick, but Andretti responded with a head scissors to send Guevara to the floor. Guevara quickly returned to the ring and hit a back flip into his corkscrew dropkick. Guevara took his eyes off Andretti, who wiped out Garcia with a dive, while Guevara took out Andretti with one of his own. Guevara tried a top rope hurricanrana, but Andretti landed on his feet into a standing Spanish Fly for two.

Jericho & Starks made their respective tags and immediately had a chop battle, as Starks did his top rope strut, only to be caught by a flying Guevara cutter in mid air. Jericho & Guevara took turns picking Starks apart and did their Le Sex God pose for the crowd. Starks got the double boots up on a diving Guevara, as Andretti made the hot tag with multiple back breaker neck breaker combos and topes. Starks hit a swinging DDT on Guevara, while Andretti hit a springboard moonsault for two. Andretti & Guevara collided on a double cross body, as Jericho & Starks again tagged in. Starks caught a Spear for a close two, as Jericho tried a Code Breaker, but Starks countered into a Liger Bomb.

Andretti tried a split legged moonsault, but Jericho got the knees up, as Guevara made the tag, couldn’t get the GTH and ate an enzugiri. Jericho ran distraction and brawled with Starks outside, as Andretti hit a Poison Rana and hanging neck breaker for two. Starks was able to hit Roshambo on the floor on Jericho, as Guevara tried a springboard cutter, missed, as Garcia smacked Andretti with the baseball bat as referee Aubrey’s attention was turned. Guevara hit the GTH and got the pin on Andretti.

-Excalibur threw it to a tribute video for Jay Briscoe showcasing The Briscoe Brothers rise in Ring of Honor and had clips of Jay’s family and daughters as well. This was a beautiful tribute, one you need to go out of your way to check out.

Buddy Matthews made his way to the ring with Julia Hart before break, as the TNT Title match is coming up next.

Darby Allin (w/Sting) defeated Buddy Matthews (w/Julia Hart) to retain the TNT Title

(Allin’s fourth successful title defense in four weeks, as this was a really good match. Matthews got to show what he’s capable of as a singles, while Allin was really selling his leg from his recent schedule.)

Allin’s leg is taped up from his match in Japan for The Great Muta Final Bye-Bye this past weekend. Matthews has half his face painted as well, as Hart ran distraction immediately and Allin was flattened with multiple back suplexes onto the edge of the apron. Allin countered a powerbomb into a hurricanrana to the railing, as Matthews was able to target the bad leg of Allin by sweeping the ring apron out from under him. Nasty Meteora from the top rope onto the edge of the ring, but Allin fought back with an over the top Stunner and Coffin Drop to the outside.

The lights went out and when they came on, Brody King & Malakai Black were on the ramp staring down Sting. Ortiz ran out from the back with a kendo stick, as he & Sting brawled with Black & King up the ramp. Matthews hit a high stack powerbomb for a near fall as Allin responded by fighting off an electric chair into a Poison Rana. Allin hit a nice crucifix bomb as both men slowly rose to their feet with strikes until Matthews blocked a Code Red into a back slide, pump knee, buckle bomb and Curb Stomp for two.

Matthews tried his Pump Handle Driver, but Allin countered into Code Red for two. Allin was cut off in the ropes, as Matthews tried a superplex, but Allin countered into a Scorpion Death Drop in mid air, the same way he countered Juice Robinson in their match on Rampage. With Matthews hung up in the ropes, Allin hit a Coffin Drop to retain his title.

Tony Schiavone came to the ring post match to run down Allin’s recent accomplishments, but before he could say a word, Samoa Joe interrupted on the big screen. Joe is coming to take everything from Allin and he’s coming to take back what is rightfully his. Allin winning that title is the biggest mistake of his career, as the King has spoken. So anticipate the rubber match coming soon between Joe & Allin.

-We get a highlight video on Adam Cole’s return a few weeks ago and footage of him training in the ring prior to the show. He’s shown looking at the banner for Revolution, so I think it’s safe to assume Cole is returning on that show.

Jungle Boy Jack Perry & FTW Champion HOOK defeated Ethan Page & Matt Hardy (w/Stokely Hathaway & Isiah Kassidy)

(This was the tag match that suffered from picture in picture. It would’ve been nice had they explained the relationship between Page, Hathway, Hardy and Private Party more, as this storyline has been barely talked about on Dynamite, only being really on Elevation and Rampage.)

Similar to recent weeks, Hathaway & Page talked down to Hardy & Kassidy during their entrance. Perry fired off a quick hurricanrana on Page, who ditched Hardy during a four man face off. Page pie faced HOOK and bailed on his partner again to get beat up. Perry hit a dive on Page outside, but was tripped up and allowed Hardy to take control. Perry was isolated during break and HOOK made the hot tag with the El Camino and overhead throw on Page.

HOOK was pulled to the floor by Hardy, as Page stumbled into a blind tag. Hardy flattened Perry with a Side Effect, but as he was about to hit a Twist of Fate, Page demanded the tag. Perry countered a Page Twist of Fate into the Snare Trap, as Hardy lightly reached for the tag, but HOOK pulled him off the apron, as Page tapped.

-It’s now time for Family Therapy with The Acclaimed, Daddy Ass & The Gunns as a therapist is with them. Austin & Colten said they always came second to their father, his career was always first. Caster & Bowens called them jealous of their relationship with their father, saying they can’t do what they do. Austin said they pushed Bowens in his wheelchair when injured and was hit with the crutch when he was all healed up. Colten said their faults as sons were because of their father. The AEW Tag Team Titles will make them happy, as they stormed out. This was short, that’s about the only positive thing I could say.

**********

-Backstage Renee Paquette is with Hangman Adam Page and she asks about his vague response last week into what’s next. Page said as much as he wants to look forward, he can’t help but look back to Ohio. He & Moxley are 1-1 in their series and when they are in Dayton, Ohio next week, he wants to knock out Jon Moxley. Wheeler Yuta comes into the shot and says Moxley accepts, challenging Page to a match on Rampage. Page asks what makes Yuta think what happened to Moxley won’t happen to Yuta?

Bryan Danielson defeated ROH Six Man Tag Champion Brian Cage (w/Prince Nana)

Excalibur told us if Cage wins, due to his win-loss record, he’ll be the new number one contender for the AEW World Title, which is questionable in my opinion. Danielson was able to get an early crucifix into the anvil elbows, as the LeBell Lock was applied, but Cage got the ropes. Danielson hit a dropkick through the ropes, tope and top rope cross body to the floor. Back inside, Cage caught Danielson with a gorilla press and tossed him into the corner with Danielson landing awkwardly. Cage followed with a release German suplex and driven down on the edge of the apron.

During commercial, Cage really zoned in on the arm of Danielson that he promised MJF last week he would break. Danielson escaped a bearhug, tried his corner moonsault, but Cage caught him into a shoulder breaker. Cage did his suplex from the ring apron into the ring, and followed with a German suplex from the outside in for two. With Danielson hung up in the corner, Cage tried an avalanche powerbomb, but Danielson fought free with a charging dropkick and superplex. Yes Kicks connected, as Danielson tried a triangle choke, but Cage easily powered out. Danielson countered into an ankle lock and leg trap German suplex. Cage & Danielson traded home run shots until Cage hit a buckle bomb, powerbomb, tried for a third, but Danielson got the roll up for the flash pin.

Post match, Cage attacked and hit Weapon X as MJF walked to the ring, shoved a ring attendant down and took his chair. Cage put Danielson’s arm through the chair and posted it, as commentary talk about the Bounty that Cage collected. MJF beat down Danielson and was about to Pillmanize his arm when Konosuke Takeshita made the save, as MJF bailed like a coward while Cage was laid out with a running knee. Takeshita & the doctor checked on Danielson.

**********

-Renee Paquette goes backstage to the doctor with Bryan Danielson and said he there was a dislocation. Danielson doesn’t care, as he’s wrestled an hour injured before and he’s going to expose MJF for the fraud he is. The doctor will not stop Danielson from wrestling ever again, as he’s going to become the AEW World Champion.

Ruby Soho defeated Toni Storm

(A hard hitting match and another chapter in this new Originals vs. Outsiders kind of storyline in the women’s division. It’ll be interesting to see which woman takes which side going forward.)

Storm cut an inset promo during her entrance and complained about Ruby Soho helping the home grown idiots, as that’s not who she is, she’s a misfit. Soho’s inset was her saying she has worked her ass off to get to this spot in AEW and won’t look down on the women here like Storm does. Tony Schiavone said the line has been drawn between AEW Originals and the ladies who didn’t get their start here. After bailing early, Storm caught Soho with a superkick, but Soho battled back with forearms and strikes. Soho was sent to the floor with Sweet Cheek Music and Storm kept pouring on the attack.

Storm controlled the entire break until Soho got her face buster in the corner and Saito suplex. Soho missed Destination Unknown, as Storm got a roll up with the tights for two. Soho answered with No Future for a close two of her own and went up top, rolling through a senton attempt. Storm acted like her nose was hurt and the ref called for a stop, as Soho fell for it, as Storm pulled Soho into the ropes, hit a nasty Sweet Cheek Music and corner DDT for two. Britt Baker’s music hit and she walked out not looking very hurt to me. The distraction for Storm was enough for Soho to hit Destination Unknown and get the win.

-MJF is in a dimly lit room, runs down Takeshita, saying he’s talented, but to stay out of his way. Despite being injured, Danielson will keep marching to Revolution like a hero. That’s what the fans think, but not MJF, as his Triple B is what makes him get out of bed in the morning. The belt makes him better than you and you know it. MJF asks if Danielson he has a whole in his soul and trying to fill it with this title. Physical pain is fleeting; mental pain will leave a scar. Next week on Dynamite, Danielson will face a man who enjoys pain, Timothy Thatcher, who had clips shown of his time in Pro Wrestling NOAH using the Fujiwara Armbar.

-Taz & Tony Schiavone tagged out for the main event and Excalibur is joined by Ian Riccaboni & Caprice Coleman. An emotional Sonjay Dutt gave Jay Lethal a hug during his entrance prior to commercial.

**********

Ian Riccaboni did a great job talking about Mark’s journey through ROH with his brother during his entrance, as Bobby Cruise gives us the introductions. Mark has both ROH Tag Titles with him.

ROH Tag Team Champion Mark Briscoe defeated Jay Lethal

(In a match I never wanted to end, this was a beautiful tribute to Jay Briscoe from start to finish. The commentary was excellent, the finish was perfect and the final shot of the show was incredibly emotional. Bravo to everyone involved.)

Both men adhered to the Code of Honor, as Lethal is visibly trying to keep it together. Lethal tried to use his speed early, firing off a quick arm drag into a stalemate. Each man take turns chopping away and to the delight of the other, as Briscoe hit a snap mare into a snap dropkick. Lethal tried to fight back, but was planted with a Briscoe neck breaker for two. Both fought to the ring apron and had a forearm and chop battle until Lethal took out the leg and hit a tope.

Lethal kept Briscoe grounded until Briscoe used his redneck kung-fu with a top rope chop. Enzugiri sent Lethal to the corner where Briscoe hit a splash and Iconoclasm. Briscoe tried for a Jay Driller, but Lethal fought out into Lethal Combination. Briscoe got a roll up off a Figure Four attempt, as Lethal responded with a front face suplex into the Lethal Injection, but Briscoe wisely rolled to the floor. Lethal followed out after and set up Briscoe on the time keepers table, as Lethal went to the top. Briscoe cut him off and hit a dropkick through the ropes. Briscoe hit a blockbuster off the apron, set up Lethal on the table and drove Lethal through it with a Froggy Bow off the top rope to loud Holy Shit and This Is Awesome chants.

Lethal kicked out at two back inside, as Lethal bridged out of a Jay Driller attempt for two, but Briscoe responded with a lariat that turned Lethal inside out multiple times. Briscoe successfully hit the Jay Driller and got the win in an incredibly emotional main event. Mark looked into the camera and told his family to keep their heads up and told his brother he loved him. The AEW locker room came out to the stage to applaud Mark as he hugged Lethal, who gave him the ring. Mark soaked in the applause, and walked up the stage to hug Christopher Daniels, Rush and BJ Whitmer, as he held up the ROH Tag Titles to go off the air.

AEW Dynamite comes on the air with a memorial graphic for Jamin “Jay Briscoe” Pugh as Excalibur welcomes us to the show and we immediately get to the entrances for our opening title match.

Orange Cassidy defeated Jay Lethal to retain the All-Atlantic Title

(A mix of outside shenanigans and action in the ring led to a fun little opener to continue the storyline between Lethal & Company and Best Friends.)

Despite being barred from ringside, Jeff Jarrett, Satnam Singh & Sonjay Dutt immediately walked down from the stands to take a front row seat. If they interfere, Sonjay Dutt will lose his job. Fast start as Cassidy was sent to the floor and Dutt had to hold Jarrett back from interfering. Danhausen, dressed as a security guard, inspected their ticket, as Trent & Chuck Taylor walked in with popcorn and brewskis as Cassidy wiped out a distracted Lethal with a dive. A tornado DDT was blocked into a hot shot as Lethal took over. For some reason Danhausen was allowed to jump the rail and stay ringside, as Lethal drove Cassidy into the ring post.

Commentary pointed out the arm band tribute that Lethal has for Jay Briscoe, as he did a Fargo Strut before controlling the action more, but Cassidy kept rolling away from a top rope elbow. Cassidy was sent to the apron and delivered 10 corner buckles and followed with a top rope cross body. Cassidy hit a Stundog Millionaire and spinning DDT, but only managed two. Cassidy missed a top rope DDT, as Lethal countered into a Lethal Combination and ultimately a Lethal Injection, but Cassidy wisely rolled outside. Chuck Taylor dumped his popcorn over Dutt, while referee Bryce went down to get distracted. Jeff Jarrett tried to hand his guitar to Lethal, but Danhausen intercepted and played a little tune. Back in the ring, Lethal was rolled up for two, as Cassidy popped up and fired off an Orange Punch to retain.

Post match, Satnam Singh jumped in to attack Best Friends, but Dutt put a stop to it, fearing he’d lose his job. Jarrett went for a guitar shot, but again Dutt stopped it and Cassidy threw some little kicks before Dutt & company left.

Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin) defeated AEW Trios Champions The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson w/Brandon Cutler)

(This was a great tag match, the biggest win of Darius & Dante’s career and one that really had to happen after winning the trios tag team battle royal with AR Fox last month. The Elite have their next challengers for their Trios Titles if booking so chooses.)

Nick & Dante showed off their athleticism to start as Taz compared the similarities between Top Flight and young Jackson brothers. Darius & Dante made quick tags for fast offense on Matt, as Nick are a double dropkick. Low dropkick sent Darius to the corner, as Dante was hung up in the corner. Double stomp by Nick on Darius led to a roll through a backstabber on Dante.

The Bucks controlled the action during commercial, as Nick robbed Dante of a hot tag. The corner bulldog into a dropkick combo connected by The Bucks, as it was followed by Risky Business for a two count. Dante rolled through a double arm drag and hit a head scissors on Matt that led to the Darius hot tag and he ran wild. Standing Spanish Fly on Matt led to a dive to the floor on Nick, as Darius got a top rope cross body on Matt for two. A series of blind tags led to a failed Meltzer Driver, as Top Flight hit a slingshot flatliner, dive to the floor and powerbomb Nose Dive combination, but Nick broke up the count to loud cheers.

Nick hit a face buster on Darius, moonsault on Dante outside and immediately back in with a destroyer on Darius for two. This Is Awesome chants ring out, as Matt Jackson kisses the Briscoe arm band and The Bucks hit a Briscoe style Doomsday Device, but Dante broke it up. Dante sent both Bucks outside, tried his no hand springboard dive, but leapt right into a double superkicks. The Bucks went for a BTE Trigger on Darius, who ducked the move, The Bucks knocked knees and Darius rolled up Matt for the flash pin.

**********

Gunn Club came to the ring and said The Acclaimed embarrassed them last week despite being the ones who made The Acclaimed champions by giving them their dad. The Acclaimed interrupted, as Austin yelled to cut their music, which got huge heat from the Fresno crowd. Caster told them to cut Austin’s mike and hit the music, as he freestyled about how The Gunns are worse sons than Hunter Biden and aren’t the Bulldogs they’re the Bullsh*tters. A brawl ensued with both teams and Daddy Ass separated them both and said next week they need to sit down and hash this out, he has two words for them, family therapy.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Hangman Adam Page and asks how he’s feeling physically. Page said he stuck to his word when he said he’s knock Moxley out for mocking what happened to him following their first match. Paquette asked where he goes from here, which Page said he needs to have some tough conversations and to mend some fences. Paquette wrapped up the interview and they think they’re done filming as Page then asks Paquette how Moxley is really feeling and she said he’s been hurt for the last ten years, as Page was about to genuinely ask her a follow up, but held off.

Ricky Starks defeated Jake Hager (w/Matt Menard & Angelo Parker)

(This was a match that suffered from the picture in picture as a lot took place during commercial. I hope Starks’ ankle is ok, as he landed really awkwardly at one point.)

Chris Jericho joined commentary, as Hager quickly mowed down Starks to start, with that purple hat not coming off. Starks got a corner boot and put the bucket hat on before doing the rope walk, as Hager fought it off, but was tossed outside. Hager blocked a baseball slide, as Starks tried to slide below the bottom buckle, but his ankle rolled under him and looked really awkward as Hager hit a lariat.

Hager controlled during break, as he was about to powerbomb Starks to the floor through a table that Menard & Parker had set up, but Starks fought them all off. High cross body by Starks, but Hager fought back with a Hager Bomb attempt, missed and Starks hit a Tornado DDT for two. Menard & Parker tried to run distraction, but failed and Starks hit a huge Spear on Hager to win it. Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara hit the ring, but Starks sprinted up through the fans so the numbers wouldn’t get him again like they did last week.

-There was a brief video package on the return of Adam Cole.

**********

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with a furious Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia & Sammy Guevara. Jericho said next week he’s requested a tag match with Starks & Andretti against Guevara & himself. Garcia demanded he team with Jericho instead of Guevara, who was proud Garcia stepped up. If Garcia beats Action Andretti on Rampage, he can have Guevara’s spot in the tag match. Guevara also presented Garcia with new ring gear, which was leather pants. Jericho said it doesn’t matter if it’s Le Sex Gods of Garcia-cho, Starks & Andretti will get theirs next week. I would prefer if their name was Jeri-Garcia, but that’s just me.

Bryan Danielson defeated Bandido

(I wish this match went another 45 minutes as I could watch these two battle all night. The crowd was pro-Bandido and Danielson played into that occasionally without going full heel. This was yet another war on Danielsons road to the Ironman Match.)

The battle of two former ROH Champions adhered to the Code of Honor as the crowd was loudly behind Bandido. Danielson wrapped up the legs of Bandido and hooked the arms into a high stack for two, as he smirked at Bandido, who quickly followed with a Romero Special. Danielson escaped, tried one of his own, but stomped down onto the knees. Fast series led to Bandido rolling through a sunset flip, trapping the arms, as Danielson bridged up on his neck powering up into a face off. Bandido locked on El Nudo Lagunero, the finisher of Blue Panther, as Danielson escaped to the floor, but Bandido quickly hit a Tope and Tope Con Giro. Bandido tried a springboard back inside, but Danielson caught him with a kick in mid air to take over into commercial.

Danielson controlled the entire break, but ran right into a pop up face buster by Bandido for the double down. Chop battle led to uppercuts by Danielson in the corner, as he moonsaulted out of the corner right into a Bandido superkick. Spinning moonsault cross body led to a stalling vertical suplex by Bandido, who held Danielson up with one arm at times. Bandido tried a Frog Splash, but Danielson got the knees up into the LeBell Lock as he screamed for Bandido to tap, but to no avail. As his other arm was wrenched back, Bandido broke the hold with a toe on the rope.

Danielson fired off kicks, but Bandido blocked the home run shot into a GTS off a Torture Rack. Danielson flipped out of the 21Plex, as a drop toe hold led to each man getting a near fall of La Magistral for another double down. Bandido was sent outside and Danielson hit a low dropkick and running knee off the apron. Both traded forearms while up in the corner and Bandido hit his moonsault avalanche fall away slam and the 21Plex, but Danielson kicked out at two. We get an insane striking battle, as Danielson fought out of the brainbuster, tried the LeBell Lock, but Bandido powered out. A backslide led to the Busaiku Knee by Danielson to get the hard fought win.

MJF appeared on the big screen and called the fans fickle saying Danielson has been dealing with Masked Max, but the closer they get to Revolution, the more his mask will come off. Not even a dragon is enough for the man behind the mask. This was a different MJF than the one who ran in fear last week from Danielson.

-Pre-recorded comments of Saraya chastising Hikaru Shida backstage for throwing a kendo stick in the ring during her & Toni Storm’s tag match last week. Storm said she’ll beat Willow tonight as Saraya ordered Shida to stay backstage. Again, how anyone views Saraya as a babyface thus far during this is beyond me.

**********

-We learn Brian Cage will face Bryan Danielson next week. Renee Paquette is backstage with Cage & Prince Nana before MJF immediately interrupts and says he needs The Machine next week. He presents Cage with an envelope full of cash, doesn’t care if he wins, just break Danielson’s arm next week. MJF slapped Cage, as he grabbed MJF by the throat and Nana said think about the money. MJF said there’s no greater motivator than hate, so use this as motivation.

Toni Storm (w/Saraya) defeated Willow Nightingale

(Well, I asked earlier how anyone can view Saraya as a babyface following her actions in recent weeks. Now I don’t have to ask that anymore! It was an odd time to do it in my opinion, but I’m happy it happened. This turn presumably sets up Willow & Ruby for more high profile matches as well, which is also a positive.)

Nightingale showed off her strength early with a shoulder block, but also her speed, as she took Storm down with an arm drag and low cross body. Nightingale did a cart wheel off an Irish whip, as Storm offered a handshake, but slapped Nightingale in the face and hit a hip attack to the floor. Hikaru Shida, kendo stick in tow, made her way to ringside as they went to commercial

Storm kept Nightingale throughout break, as Nightingale fought free from a full nelson and hit a few corner lariats. A massive spinebuster by Nightingale, who followed with a dropkick off the second rope, but couldn’t hit the corner cannonball. Storm responded with Sweet Cheek Music and spinning DDT for two, but Nightingale answered with a misdirect Pounce. Nightingale was able to hit the corner cannonball, as Saraya jumped on the apron to run distraction. This was enough for Storm to get a roll up with a handful of tights to steal the win.

Post match, Saraya jumped Nightingale and put the boots to her with Storm, as Ruby Soho made the save with Hikaru Shida looking on confused at all of this.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Konosuke Takeshita and asks him about his match with Bryan Danielson last week. Takeshita says he respects Danielson so much and said something in Japanese, which Paquette asked what it meant and he said MJF is an asshole. Takeshita is the best; I’m looking forward to big things from him this year in AEW.

Darby Allin (w/Sting) defeated Kushida (w/Kevin Knight & DKC) to defend the TNT Title

(This match was filled with Kushida’s specialty of targeting the arm trying to get the submission, while Allin had his daredevil antics sprinkled in as well. It resulted in a really fun main event and another title defense for Darby, who continues to be a fighting champion. The next stop for Darby & Sting is the Great Muta’s farewell match in a few days in Japan.)

Kushida was accompanied by the New Japan LA Dojo’s Kevin Knight & DKC as Allin had Sting by his side. Dueling chants by the fans during the feeling out process as Excalibur ran down Kushida’s resume over folks he’s defeated in his career. An excellent series of counters of submissions as Kushida picked the ankle, Allin quickly tried a hip toss, but Kushida flipped out into a snap dropkick. Allin ducked a baseball slide and threw Kushida into the railing. Back inside, Kushida punted out the arm of Allin and tried softening the arm up for the Hoverboard Lock. Allin tried a springing Coffin Drop, but Kushida caught him with a forearm strike. Allin blocked a Pele Kick and hit a Code Red for two. Kushida rolled outside and Allin wiped out Knight & DKC with a dive. Kushida hooked Allin’s arm and hit a running slam as they went to break.

Allin tried fighting back when we returned, but ate a Pele Kick. Allin was able to hit a Scorpion Death Drop, but couldn’t capitalize with how much damage was done to his arm thus far. Both men slowly rose and Allin fired off slaps, as Kushida answered with a lariat to the floor. Kushida hit a diving knee strike onto the bad arm. They battled on the apron where Allin hit his over the top stunner and commentary wondered who got the worst of it. Allin set up Kushida on a chair, went to the top for a shotgun dropkick, but Kushida tossed the chair away and caught Allin with a cross arm breaker in mid air. Allin landed really hard after that dropkick attempt.

After all of this happened outside, referee Bryce was miraculously only at a seven count, as Allin break the count on the apron where Kushida slapped on a key lock that was turned into almost a reverse throw off the top. The Hoverboard Lock was almost applied, but Allin locked his hands. Kevin Knight tossed Sting the towel and told him to throw it in for Allin, but Sting threw it into the crowd. Allin powered up, but as Kushida went to sink in the submission more, Allin countered into the Last Supper for the pin. Kushida & Allin shook hands as the challenger raised the champion’s hand. The show ended with Excalibur saying they are thinking of Jay Briscoe, he is in their hearts and minds.

One of the biggest cards AEW Dynamite has seen opened with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Taz & Tony Schiavone as they’re jumping right into Jon Moxley’s entrance.

Hangman Adam Page defeated Jon Moxley

(This was a fantastic, hard hitting opener, with the crowd into it from the very start. Page didn’t miss a beat after being on the shelf for nearly 3 months.)

Excalibur pointed out this is the first time in 85 days that Page has wrestled, as a slugfest started right at the bell. The referee had to pull Page off Moxley, who tried the lariat that put Page on the shelf, but missed and we got a chop and forearm battle. Moxley set up Page in the corner and raked the back with his hands and teeth. Moxley couldn’t get an arm bar, so he hit a series of release German suplexes. Moxley again went for a lariat, but Page turned it into an exploder. Page looked for a Buckshot, but Moxley sent him crashing into the guard rail. Page hit a comeback lariat on the floor, but Moxley turned Page inside with a lariat in the ring for two.

Moxley controlled the action throughout the commercial, but Page battled back with a back suplex and lariat into the reset. Both slowly rose to their feet with more forearms traded before Page hit a fall away slam, kip up, Moxley tried a German, but Page landed on his feet and leveled Moxley with a lariat. Moxley rolled outside and Page hit a big time moonsault off the top, smacking his back hard against the railing. Buckshot missed in the ring into a Moxley Death Rider, but Page kicked out. Anvil elbows transitioned into a bulldog choke and Moxley hit a stalling piledriver, but Page kicked out at one.

The crowd was firmly behind Page, so Moxley flipped them off, sank in the sleeper, looked for another piledriver, but Page countered into Dead Eye, which Moxley no sold into a Curb Stomp and collapsed. Forearms, headbutts and palm strikes traded until Page hit another lariat and a Buckshot Lariat to put away Moxley. Post match, the doctor checked on Moxley in the ring, who seemed to be completely out of it, as Excalibur threw to commercial.

**********

Back from break, Excalibur informed us the doctor walked Moxley to the back where he’s been evaluated and references what happened to Page in their match a few months ago.

Adam Cole Returns

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and said it gives him no pleasure in welcoming the returning Adam Cole to a huge ovation. Cole introduces everyone to Story Time with Adam Cole Bay Bay. Cole said he has good news and bad news. He’s always wanted to be a pro wrestler and gets to do it in AEW. Being injured made him realize how much he misses this with his shoulder and head injuries. He went through the troubles he’s had these last few months, but mentioned the fan support, saying it meant the world to him and thanked the fans. Cole now addressed the bad news, which is for the AEW locker room, as Adam Cole is back and he’s not going anywhere. Cole isn’t done yet and won’t stop until he’s the very best, as he hasn’t scratched the surface in AEW. Today a new Adam Cole is born, one day he’ll be on the top of the mountain. This was a great return promo for Cole, who I’m really happy is back.

-The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass are backstage and said on Rampage they’ll receive stars on the Walk of Fame this Friday. They’ll join greats like Roseanne Barr, Alec Baldwin, Donald Trump and Johnny Depp. Something tells me the Platinum Max rap will be worth it to tune in to Rampage.

Jungle Boy Jack Perry & FTW Champion HOOK defeated Big Bill & Lee Moriarty (w/Stokely Hathaway)

(A lot of this took place during commercial, but the major moments happened back from break. The T-Bone suplex spot from HOOK on Big Bill finally paid off and got the crowd going nuts.)

Moriarty & Perry traded corner chops to start until Perry hit a springboard arm drag into a dropkick. HOOK quickly took Moriarty down into a short arm scissor, as Moriarty suffered double team offense. Perry tried a dive through the ropes onto Bill, who caught him and tried another apron chokeslam, as HOOK stopped it. Bill & Moriarty controlled Perry during the entire picture in picture, even trash talking actor Ken Jeong, who was seated ringside.

Perry powerbombed out of a submission and made the hot tag to HOOK, who threw Moriarty all over the place until Bill put a stop to it. HOOK showed no fear and after a few attempts, finally got an impressive T-Bone suplex on Bill. Moriaty and Perry, as HOOK took out Bill outside with a dive, while Perry got the Snare Trap to tap out Moriarty.

-Backstage Renee Paquette is with Danhausen, Orange Cassidy and new Golden Globe winner Paul Walter Hauser, who appeared to have brought his award and said he’d show it on Rampage. Hauser asked Cassidy if things were cool with Best Friends, he said yeah, as Trent & Chuck Taylor walked in and agreed. All hands in, as that was that.

-Renee Paquette is backstage at The Elite locker room door, telling us there hasn’t been a Best of 7 series in this arena since the Pistons & Lakers in 1988.

Konosuke Takeshita made his entrance before the next match, but MJF interrupted and mocked him, saying he hasn’t seen a lick of his stuff. MJF calls him Take-A-Shit-A and tells him not to take one tonight, but needs him to win. Takeshita told MJF to kiss his ass and shoved MJF who demanded he leave the ring. Referee Aubrey for some reason followed his instructions so MJF can cut a longer promo.

MJF said people think he can’t last 60 minutes with Danielson, so tells them to ask their mothers and skank girlfriends how long he can last. Unlike Danielson, he’s all about pinning shoulders on mats and banging rats. MJF called out Ken Jeong ringside, mentioned The Hangover and talked about his failed sitcom Dr. Ken that ended about six years ago. Freddie Prinze Jr. was called out next and MJF doesn’t remember She’s All That since he was born in 1996 and called him a Scooby-Dooby-Douchebag, which was a great line, even Freddie had to agree. MJF said there won’t be an Ironman Match, but before he could hit his tag line, Bryan Danielson’s music hit and he springed to the ring, as MJF sprinted up the ramp like a coward.

Bryan Danielson defeated Konosuke Takeshita

(Well, this should surprise no one, but this match was unreal. Yet another incredible performance from Takeshita and Danielson becomes one step closer to getting MJF at the PPV in an Ironman match. I can’t say enough good things about this match.)

Takeshita nearly got an early Blue Thunder Bomb, but Danielson countered into a headlock takeover. Danielson locked in the Romero Special into a Dragon Sleeper, which Takeshita reversed into one of his own. A forearm and chop battle ensued until Takeshita got a running start into a Takeshita-line. Danielson answered with an underhook suplex into a LeBell Lock attempt, but Takeshita used his size to get a rope break. Danielson hit charging corner dropkicks, but the third attempt was countered into a Blue Thunder Bomb for two. Chops from Takeshita rang out, as Danielson moonsaulted out of the corner into a flying clothesline.

Danielson hit a dive to the floor, but the two battled up on the ropes, as Takeshita hit a massive lariat off the top that turned Danielson inside out for a two count. Danielson countered a powerbomb into a hurricanrana that took Takeshita outside, where Danielson charged off the apron and the two landed really awkwardly into the railing. Danielson limped getting up, threw a kick, but Takeshita blocked into a brainbuster on the floor. Takeshita tried a senton atomico off the ropes, but Danielson got his knees up into a LeBell Lock, but again Takeshita got the rope break. Danielson fired off kicks, but Takeshita blocked the home run into another forearm battle.

A violent forearm and discus lariat turned Danielson inside out, as Takeshita missed the charging knee and Danielson got the anvil elbows. Takeshita battled back by dropping Danielson on his head into a wheelbarrow German for a close near fall. Takeshita tried another, but Danielson landed on his feet into a Busaiku Knee for two of his own. The crowd is on fire as Danielson stomped down with boots and got the Regal Stretch, as Takeshita went unconscious.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Juice Robinson, asking what he wants to accomplish in AEW. Robinson said he’s here to kick ass and take names and challenges Darby Allin on Rampage for the TNT Title.

AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter & Dr. Britt Baker (w/Rebel) defeated Saraya & Toni Storm

(This match felt weird, as Saraya & Storm came off as heels last week with how they (Saraya especially) treated Hikaru Shida, so they were booed tonight. There was a lot in this match, maybe too much, as it was really chaotic. It had some good moments, though.)

There was a huge ovation for Hayter, who started off with a hard hitting back and forth exchange with Storm. Hayter was sent outside and Saraya hit a tumbleweed off the apron. Back inside, Saraya took the fight to Hayter, screaming it was her house. Hayter blocked a double suplex from Saraya & Storm and hit them both with one of her own. Storm was sent to the apron where Baker laid her out with a spinning neckbreaker off the edge of the ring. Hayter & Baker took turns slamming Storm & Saraya into the guard rails, as Hikaru Shida made her way out to ringside.

Storm was isolated throughout the whole break until Saraya made the hot tag and ran wild; hitting Baker with former Paige Turner now called Knight Cap. Baker tried an Air Raid Crash, but Saraya countered into a knee to the face. Storm hit Sweet Cheek Music on Baker, locked on a Cloverleaf, but Hayter booted Storm square in the face. Baker hit an Avalance Air Raid Crash, but Storm somehow kicked out. Ripcord double forearms from Baker & Hayter led to a Hayt-Breaker, but Saraya broke up the cover. Storm fought back with a German suplex and Storm Zero, but Baker saved her partner.

The match broke down as Baker dropped Saraya with a spinning butterfly suplex as Storm & Hayter had a long slug fest. Rebel took the ref as Shida threw her kendo stick into the middle of the ring, Baker smacked Storm in the back and allowed Hayter to hit Hayter-ade for the win, as Shida looked shocked, but after the way she was treated last week, she has every right to be happy Saraya & Storm lost.

Jericho Appreciation Society Arrive

The J.A.S. came out in there matching gold jackets. Jericho said this has been a huge week for the J.A.S. mentioning showing up at the PWG Battle of Los Angeles. Jericho mentioned Tay & Anna winning their Street Fight on Friday, sending Action Andretti back to the minor leagues and ending the Ricky Starks Experiment.

Ricky Starks & Action Andretti interrupts on the stage. Starks said they’re still standing, while Jericho compared Andretti to little orphan Oliver. Andretti told him to shut it up or he’ll shove his baseball bat up his ass. Andretti said Guevara can’t control his wife, even her hands, which were between his legs last week. Starks told Jericho to move so he could talk to Gilligan in the hat and called Hager a village idiot who still has his dumb lisp. Hager said he’ll slap Starks’ face off his face seemingly quoting Charlie Kelly from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Starks said he’ll show Hager next week who is absolute.

The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) w/Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa) defeated Death Triangle (PAC & Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) w/Alex Abrahantes) in an Escalera de la Muerte to win the Best of Seven Series 4-3 and win the AEW Trios Titles

(This was one of the most insane matches I’ve seen on Dynamite and a fantastic culmination of the Best of Seven series. Amazing respect to everyone involved in the different stories they told over the last few months.)

Omega is wearing the IWGP United States title he won at Wrestle Kingdom and was talked about on commentary. Excalibur also told us only one of the three tag titles need to be retrieved to win the match as tables are set up all around ringside. The match started super quick with dueling backstabbers by Penta & Matt. PAC & Penta hit a slingshot cutter, while Fenix hit a top rope frog splash on Matt. Fenix cleared a ladder held by Penta & PAC and took out Omega with a dive, as Nick answered with a dropkick onto the ladder. Matt set up a ladder in the ring and wiped out Penta with a running Destroyer. Fenix cut off Matt on the ladder with a springboard arm drag and Omega laid out the Lucha Bros with Snap Dragons. PAC originally cut off Omega, who answered with another snap Dragon, looked for a Terminator Dive, but PAC moved and Omega went through a table. Immediately after Matt Jackson did a cross body off the top onto PAC through a table.

The pace sort of slowed, as much as one could in a match like this, during picture in picture. Penta & Matt had a tug of war with a ladder until Penta got trapped in the corner, as Nick hit a top rope springboard dive on Fenix. Penta tried to take out Matt, who hit a back drop onto a set up ladder. It a brutal spot, Fenix cut off Nick from doing a springboard and hit a top rope hurricanrana dropping Nick hamstring first onto the ladder. Omega tried to grab a ladder, but PAC stomped on his fingers caught between it. Omega nearly caught PAC in a One Winged Angel, but PAC countered into a Poison Rana. Fear Factor took out Omega, as Fenix hit a spinning dive onto Nick outside.

The Bucks dished out superkicks to Penta & PAC, as Fenix came flying in, but Matt hit locomotion Northern Lights, the last being on the ladder. Penta was set up on a table outside and Nick hit a picture perfect 450 Splash through it. Matt went for the titles, but Alex Abrahantes stopped him, resulting in Brandon Cutler using the cold spray and Omega V-Triggering Abrahantes. As Omega climbed the ladder, PAC used a hammer on the hand and hit a Falcon Arrow on the floor.

PAC made the climb, but Matt stopped him. The Lucha Bros set up a platform with another ladder, as Penta climbed up and delivered a Fear Factor on the ladder bridge. Fenix climbed to the belts, but Omega stopped him and hit a One Winged Angel off the ladder in an epic moment. PAC tried the Black Arrow, but Omega got his knees up. Omega made the climb and pulled down a title to win the match and titles.

Final Thoughts

This was the most action packed episode of Dynamite we’ve seen in my opinion. From the hard hitting opener, the phenomenal Danielson & Takeshita match and finally the main event, it was an amazing night of action.

AEW Dynamite opened to the sound of the newly purchased ‘Roundball Rock’ the former NBA on NBC theme as Excalibur welcomes us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz as they run down the card.

AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle (PAC & Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) w/Don Callis, Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa) to win Match 4 of the Best of 7 Series and make it 3-1

(Another excellent chapter in this series, as it’s another different story told with Nick injuring his ankle and Death Triangle again relying on the hammer. I like the potential No DQ for Match 5.)

Nick & Penta had a fast start, with Nick avoiding Fear Factor into a top rope spinning arm drag, as The Bucks made fast tags leading to a cazadora Kotaro Crusher on PAC’s injured face. Tilt a whirl back breaker into a top rope double stomp led to dives on all Death Triangle outside, as Nick held his ankle after he did his. As PAC was worked over by Omega & Matt, the doctor checked on Nick. Tight rope walk from Fenix led to a German by PAC on Matt, while Penta did a step up Sling Blade on Omega. As they went to break, Nick Jackson was taken to the back, turning this into a handicap match.

Matt was isolated the entire break, who countered a somersault DDT by Fenix into locomotion Northern Lights double pin attempt on both Lucha Bros for two. Matt made the hot tag to Omega, who ran wild to a huge reaction, connecting with You Can’t Escape on PAC for two. Snap dragons delivered to all Death Triangle, as Omega went for his Terminator dive, but was tripped up by PAC, who hit a slingshot cutter. PAC flipped out of a German suplex, but was dropped by an Omega brainbuster. As Omega was about to tag Matt, Penta laid out Matt with a Fear Factor on the apron. Fenix connected with a reverse Spanish Fly, while Penta hit Made in Penta, as Fenix got a two count off an inverted Frog Splash. PAC missed Black Arrow, as Nick Jackson limped back down to the ring and made the tag.

Nick ran wild with lariats and a mid air cutter on a springing Fenix. PAC took the ref, as Nick went for a superkick, Fenix blocked and Penta smashed the ankle with the hammer. Fenix sank on an inverted knee bar, while PAC locked up Omega from breaking up the submission, as Nick tapped out.

Post match, Omega took the mic and said a 3-1 deficit is a lot to come back from, but since Death Triangle likes to use the hammer, how about Match 5, all weapons are legal. They want the next match to be No DQ.

-Backstage Alex Marvez is with MJF, who said last week was a star making performance by Ricky Starks, while the first Dynamite, MJF was already a star. It took Starks this long to do it, as at 26 years old, MJF is a star maker. MJF ran down Starks and the fans, as he grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. MJF isn’t under any pressure tonight, he already has it all, while Starks has everyone to let down. He’s going to turn The Pebble into dust.

**********

The Acclaimed were on their way to the ring, with Max Caster cutting a rap making Britney Griner & Elon Musk references until they were all attacked by Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Jeff Jarrett & Satnam Singh. Caster tried to fight back, but he was laid out by a Jarrett guitar shot. Jarrett said Scissor This, Slap Nuts.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with the J.A.S. with Jericho referring to Claudio Castagnoli as a flash in the pan like Joe Exotic or Ricky Starks. Tonight he’ll take his frustrations out on his tune up match before getting his ROH Title match. Jericho said Daniel Garcia should never have lost the Pure Title and needs to shadow his elder, Sammy Guevara, on Rampage, which did not please Garcia.

Jungle Boy Jack Perry defeated ROH Six Man Champion Brian Cage (w/Prince Nana)

(This was a very solid match with Perry fending off another giant on his quest to, well, another giant. Only this time, he has back up in the form of a cold hearted, handsome devil.)

Perry used his speed early to counter a fireman’s carry into a hurricanrana into a dropkick, as Perry was still feeling the apron powerbomb from Big Bill last week. Cage finally swatted Perry away in the corner and hit his superplex from the apron back into the ring. Bicep curls with Perry led to a fall away slam as Cage was in full control during the commercial break.

Perry battle back with a comeback lariat, which Cage absorbed, looked for a powerbomb, but Perry turned it into a DDT. Cage hit an overhead German suplex and spinning full nelson driver, but Perry kicked out at two. Cage wanted Drill Claw, but Perry got a roll up for a close near fall. Perry was turned inside out with a lariat, but Perry countered a F-5 into a Destroyer. Snare Trap was applied, as Cage tapped, but the ref was arguing with Prince Nana. Cage tried a ripcord lariat, but Perry ducked, sent Cage into Nana and rolled up Cage for the win.

Post match, Perry said at Full Gear, he beat Luchasaurus, tonight he beat Brian Cage, so he calls out the biggest bitch of them all and calls out Big Bill. Stokely Hathaway came out and said Perry constantly pisses him off, runs him down and Perry goes after him until Lee Moriarty & Big Bill showed up and beat Perry down. The beating continued until HOOK walked to the ring, The Firm bailed and HOOK helped Perry up.

-Blackpool Combat Club cut a promo backstage with Moxley recapping their last week, with Castagnoli winning the ROH Title, Yuta winning the Pure Title and Moxley choking out Takeshita on Rampage. Castagnoli said they’ll show up everywhere, Yuta said if anyone wants a shot, they can have it. Moxley said he’ll stomp Sammy Guevara’s face into a bloody mess on Rampage. Moxley also told Hangman Page he knows where to find him and told him to bring his Dark Order buddies if he wants.

-Swerve Strickland video is shown with his actions at Final Battle and says next week he & Keith Lee will have their face off on Dynamite.

The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews w/Julia Hart) defeated The Factory (Aaron Solo, Cole Karter & Nick Comoroto w/QT Marshall & Lee Johnson)

(This was a statement victory for the House of Black in their return to the ring.)

Comoroto threw his lollipop at Julia Hart, who responded with the mist to the face. The Factory was demolished outside by King & Matthews. The bell rang and it was immediately 3 on 1, with Marshall needing a miracle. Black Mass wiped out Marshall and Black got the quick pin.

-Jamie Hayter & Hikaru Shida had a video package running each other down prior to their AEW Women’s Title match next week on Dynamite.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Britt Baker & Rebel, as Baker said it’s not going to be a big thing for Hayter to beat Shida, Baker beat her with a broken nose. Skye Blue interrupted and challenged her for Rampage, Baker was insulted, but accepted.

Action Andretti defeated Chris Jericho

(Jericho wanted a tune up and it blew up in his face. This was a lot of fun and Andretti was more than up for the task tonight. Jericho was Razor Ramon and Andretti was the Lightning Kid.)

Jericho kept pie facing Andretti, who tried to return the favor, but Jericho stomped him down in the corner. Let’s Go Jobber chant broke out, as Andretti mounted a comeback to a huge reaction, but was booted down. Repeated corner clotheslines, as Jericho hit a few chops until Andretti got a head scissors into a spinning tornillo. Jericho popped up before even a one count, hit a DVD and Code Breaker, but Andretti kicked out to shock everyone, as Excalibur was baffled he could throw it to break with Andretti still alive.

Jericho controlled the entire break and we come back from picture in picture to even louder Let’s Go Jobber chants. Andretti fired back with chops, but an eye poke put Jericho in control again. Andretti got off a flying forearm, clothesline and back breaker into the neckbreaker. Andretti went for a split legged moonsault, but Jericho got the knees up. Jericho missed Judas Effect and Andretti hit a springboard kick that sent Jericho outside, where Andretti hit a springboard moonsault.

Back inside, Andretti went for antoher springboard, but Jericho teased the Walls of Jericho, but got rolled up. Andretti tried a tilt a whirl into a DDT and got a running standing shooting star press to pin Chris Jericho clean. The crowd exploded, as Andretti leapt into the crowd, while Jericho couldn’t believe what just happened.

-Ricky Starks is backstage and said he woke up this morning knowing tonight will be his night. It’s been a long for him in AEW, not knowing if he’d make it to this moment after suffering a broken neck. MJF is all about ratings, but no one cares, Starks has a lot riding on tonight when he becomes the next AEW World Champion.

-Ricky Starks is shown warming up in the back, while MJF is getting massaged, looking at his phone.

Ruby Soho defeated Tay Melo (w/Sammy Guevara)

(These two ladies really laid in the strikes on each other, as Soho is back in the win column and figures to have her next opponent lined up in Anna Jay A.S.)

Melo made out with her husband so much at the entrance that Taz questioned if they shared their lunch. Taz also briefly sang along to Soho’s theme, which is always a highlight. The two ladies brawled ringside before the match officially began. Melo drove Soho into the railing and ring steps as both got in the ring, ref Bryce asked Soho if she’s good and the match started. Melo ran right into multiple Soho back suplexes, but the No Future kick was blocked, as Melo bailed. Soho cut her off, looked for Destination Unknown, but Melo hit the DD-Tay on the ramp.

Melo controlled most of the break, ripping up a Ruby Soho sign in the process. Soho relentlessly fought her way back, driving Melo’s face repeatedly in the corner. Soho leapt off the top, rolled through, as Melo popped up and hit a pump kick. Both ladies traded stiff strikes until Melo hit a throw and Gotch style piledriver for two. Soho blocked Tay-KO, got a knee to the face and planted Melo with Destination Unknown for the win. Anna Jay immediately attacked Soho post match and laid her out with a Gory Bomb.

-Backstage Alex Marvez is trying to talk to Hangman Adam Page, who is being checked by a doctor with Evil Uno by his side. Page said the update was when he was unconscious for 60 seconds last month, he came to and learned he had a hundred text messages. When he unlocked his phone, saw his son’s photo, he couldn’t remember his name at first. Page said if Moxley wants to send him to hell, then he’s taking Moxley with him.

-We are informed that next week Match 5 in the Best of Seven Series between Death Triangle & The Elite will in fact be No Disqualification. In the graphic it was also said Match 6 (if necessary) would be Falls Count Anywhere, while Match 7 (if necessary) would be Escalara de la Muerte.

MJF defeated Ricky Starks to defend the AEW World Title & Dynamite Diamond Ring

(This was a solid main event, with the crowd loudly behind Starks. Was there any other way MJF was going to win this besides cheating? Danielson wanted his revenge and appears to be next in line for the champion.)

Early mocking of Starks’ pose and a Fargo Strut led to Starks mowing MJF down with a shoulder tackle to the floor. MJF bailed into the crowd, threw a fans popcorn and another’s hat before heading back to the ring where Starks got a few near falls. MJF got an eye poke and worked the previously injured ribs of Starks, who was hung up over the top and sent to the floor heading to the final break of the night.

It was all MJF working over the ribs of Starks during commercial, as MJF worked an abdominal stretch, using the ropes long enough before eventually getting caught. Starks got a hip toss and fired off a lariat as he tried to string offense together. Tornado spinning flatliner connected, as MJF tried to flip out of Roshambo, but Starks blocked it and hit a sit out powerbomb for a close two. Starks was driven into the corner, as MJF hit a double stomp to the arm to soften it up. Both traded roll ups, but MJF got two with the tights.

MJF hit a powerbomb on his knee and folded up Starks, who just managed to kick out. MJF slowly toyed with Starks, which led to an all out slug fest before MJF again went to the eyes. Discus forearm from MJF sent Starks bouncing into the ropes and hit a desperation Spear for the double down. Starks got a cover, but MJF suckered him into Salt of the Earth then really wrapped Starks up like a pretzel, as a desperation rope break broke the hold. MJF tried a bridge, looked for a powerbomb, Starks flipped out, tried Roshambo, but MJF hid behind referee Paul Turner. Starks shoved the ref away, MJF hit a low kick and rolled up Starks to steal it.

Post match, MJF went up the ramp to leave, but Bryan Danielson’s music hit and the chase was on, as MJF scurried through the crowd with Danielson staring a hole through him. Danielson helped Starks up and held his hand in the air as the show went off the air.

**********

AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz as we begin with the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale, where the winner gets to select the time and place they challenge for MJF’s Dynamite Diamond ring.

Ricky Starks won the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale

(I had originally thought the winner of this won an AEW Title shot, but it’s for a shot at the Dynamite Diamond ring that MJF holds, which makes sense, so Starks will be going for it all next week. Now, the post match promo was incredible and Ricky Starks best of his career. The crowd was firmly behind him and I’m looking forward to next week.)

The participants were Jungle Boy, Ricky Starks, Dustin Rhodes, Ethan Page, Lee Moriarty, Orange Cassidy, Kip Sabian, Matt Hardy, The Butcher, Shawn Dean, Dalton Castle and Brian Cage

Cassidy & Sabian continued their brawling from this past Friday on Rampage before getting into the ring. Cassidy skinned the cat, but The Blade, despite not being in the match, hit him mid pull up to eliminate Cassidy. Rhodes eliminated Sabian off a Destroyer and clothesline. The Butcher eliminated Rhodes to a loud chorus of boos. Cage knocked Castle off the apron, but he fell onto The Boys repeatedly and crowd surfed around the floor. Castle returned and was immediately bodyslammed over the top onto The Boys. Jungle Boy & Cage wound up on the apron and Perry hit a Meteora on the apron to eliminate Cage.

Starks eliminated The Butcher with a Spear off the apron. Perry hit a hurricanrana over the top to eliminate Moriarty, but while on the apron, W. Morrissey dropped Perry to eliminate him and connected with a nasty choke slam onto the edge of the ring. Page demanded Hardy raise his hand, despite this not being over. Dean hit a round the world DDT on Page, tried to eliminate him, but Hardy connected with a Twist of Fate to save Page. Dean was tossed out by Page, who bad mouthed Hardy, who went for another Twist of Fate on Starks, but he tossed Hardy out.

Starks & Page are your final two, as Starks hit a Tornado DDT, missed a Spear and Page hit a roundhouse kick. Page went to toss Starks out, but Starks held onto the top rope and Page was eliminated. Starks wins, but MJF’s music immediately hit.

MJF said next week he’ll be a four time Dynamite diamond champion, called Starks the drizzling shits and quoted The Rock, saying Starks is a dollar store Dwayne. MJF calls Starks The Pebble who he’ll send back to Billy Corgan’s NWA on YouTube. MJF hit his catchphrases before Starks grabbed the mic and called him a Maxi Pad and a fifth rate Roddy Piper. Starks verbally lit up MJF from head to toe talking about his cheap suits, shoes and heat. MJF always lets people down, while Starks constantly delivers. Next week he shuts MJF up, smacks the mole off his neck and taking his title. MJF kicked Starks low, went for the ring punch, but Starks ducked and hit the Spear, holding up the title to a huge ovation.

-Jon Moxley is backstage saying this is All Elite Wrestling not All Elite Talking, he enjoys the fighting, so this weekend at Rampage, Final Battle, the Blackpool Combat Club bring back what they do best. Moxley will be ringside tonight to make sure no shenanigans happen. Moxley said if Hangman Page wanted another piece, he knows where to find him.

TNT & ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe defeated Darby Allin to retain the TNT Title

(Fantastic battle this was, as Joe steamrolled Allin the first half of this match before Allin turned it on the second half, nearly regaining his TNT Title.)

Allin sent Joe outside with a dropkick, attempted a dive, but Joe casually side stepped and Allin crashed hard on the concrete. Joe held Allin by his legs and drove him into the railing and side of the ring repeatedly. Joe has a smirk on his face, as he wanted a powerbomb on the exposed concrete, Allin got free, but ran into a snap powerslam on the concrete.

Joe violently rammed Allin head first into the post that sent Allin spinning to the floor where the doctor checked on him. Joe counted along with referee Bryce, but Allin beat the count. Allin hit a few kicks, but Joe hit his Manhattan drop, charging kick and senton combo for two. Allin baited Joe to the floor, tried a slingshot dive, Joe caught Allin, but Allin sent Joe into the steps and hit a huge Coffin Drop from the top.

Back in the ring, Allin hit an over the top stunner and Code Red, but Joe kicked out. Allin ran into a uranage in the corner, but fought out of the corner to try a Coffin Drop, falling right into the rear naked choke. Allin faded fast, his eyes rolled back and the ref called it. Post match, Allin shoved Joe, who headbutt Allin, grabbed his skateboard hit Allin with a Muscle Buster on it as the spine of Allin landed flush on the wheel. Joe put on the sleeper again until Wardlow made the save to run off Joe. I bet Allin wishes Wardlow would’ve shown up about a minute sooner.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Orange Cassidy & Kip Sabian. Cassidy said if Sabian wants a title shot at the All-Atlantic Title, all he had to do was ask. Sabian said he’s hurt from the battle royal, so Cassidy said for him to pick someone for him to defend the title against on Rampage. Sabian pondered it and walked off. Tony Schiavone made the match official, so he has that power now.

**********

-A video package is shown highlighting the Chris Jericho vs. Claudio Castagnoli match at Final Battle for the ROH World Title.

Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta (w/Jon Moxley) defeated ROH Pure Champion Daniel Garcia & Jake Hager (w/Sammy Guevara)

(This was your standard tag match with the JAS controlling the entire break and BCC firing back when they returned. Some clunky spots towards the end, but this was a good match. The post match Regal pre-tape promo was an odd explanation (something Moxley didn’t even address), but it was his farewell.)

Castagnoli faked putting a purple Hager hat on, but punted it instead. An annoyed Hager took his frustrations out on Yuta, who was picked apart in the corner by Garcia & himself. Garcia & Yuta fired off chops and Yuta hit a standing senton. Double big boot by Castagnoli & Yuta, as Hager went back & forth with Castagnoli, with commentary mentioning how they were former teammates. Yuta hit an Angle Slam on Garcia and a tope onto both Garcia & Hager. Back inside, Guevara ran distraction long enough for Hager to hit a Hager Bomb for two on Yuta. Able to fight free, Yuta hit a huge superplex on Garcia for the double down into commercial.

Yuta was controlled the entire break and hit a release German suplex on Garcia when they returned from picture in picture. Castagnoli made the hot tag and delivered uppercuts aplenty on Hager. Castagnoli went for a hurricanrana out of the second rope and slipped in a spot that could’ve really been nasty, thankfully it wasn’t. Giant Swing was broken up by Garcia, who was flattened by a Yuta frog splash. Castagnoli avoided the ankle lock and hit the Giant Swing on Hager for ten revolutions.

Castagnoli went for a springboard uppercut, but Guevara stopped him, right in front of Rick Knox, who did nothing. Jon Moxley dispatched of Guevara, as Hager slapped on an ankle lock on Castagnoli, while Garcia got the Dragon Tamer on Yuta. Castagnoli spun free and sent Hager into Garcia, hitting a huge home run uppercut on Hager to win this.

Tony Schiavone got in the ring with the BCC and threw it to a pre-recorded promo he did with William Regal two weeks ago. Regal said they’ll only see this if something bad happened to him. Regal said he did what he did to show Moxley, Castagnoli & Danielson why they don’t need him and can teach Yuta to be the best wrestler in the world themselves. Hopefully Moxley understands, as he is a calculating man, Regal did what he did so they always stay one step ahead and keep eyes in the back of their head. Regal said he’s Blackpool Combat Club until the day he dies and walked off. Schiavone asked for Moxley’s thoughts, he seemed skeptical, but said he, Castagnoli & Yuta live and breathe for professional wrestling. Final Battle, the feud with the Jericho Appreciation Society is over. Moxley said he challenges any wrestler in the world on Rampage.

-A House of Black video is shown with Malakai Black saying anyone who has an issue with what they’ve done in recent weeks, face them next Wednesday.

**********

-Tony Schiavone has his pre-recorded interview with AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter, who said she finally has a chance to speak. Schiavone asks her thoughts on Hikaru Shida vs. The Bunny on Rampage for the Regina Di WAVE title. Hayter said she’ll have a close eye on the match and grants the winner of that match the next shot at her title.

TBS Champion Jade Cargill, Leila Grey & Red Velvet defeated Skye Blue, Madison Rayne & Kiera Hogan

(Not much to say about this one, most of it happened during commercial. Cargill pretty much picked up the pieces the last minute to get the win for her team.)

Blue & Velvet started off with some near falls, as this is Velvet’s first match since early June. Grey & Velvet picked apart Blue, who fought off Grey, dropkicked Velvet to the floor, tried a dropkick, but Velvet trapped her in the ring apron to take over.

Blue & Velvet collided for the double down as they hit double thrust kicks. Hogan & Cargill both made their first appearance in the match, as Hogan ran wild on her former Baddie running mates. Cargill blocked a Hogan boot to connect with a choke slam. Hogan spun out of Jaded, tagged Rayne, who tried a rip cord, but Cargill countered into Jaded for the win.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Saraya, who got out a few words before Britt Baker interrupted. Baker gave Saraya tickets to the Kia Forum for the January 12 edition of Dynamite. Baker made a challenge for a tag team match with her & Jamie Hayter against Saraya and a partner of her choosing.

The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster w/Daddy Ass) defeated AAA, ROH & IWGP Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) to retain the AEW Tag Team Titles

(This was a phenomenal main event with both teams looking fantastic in this one. The finish really was a flash pin, as Wheeler was simply caught. They waited for the last possible second to announce FTR’s match for Final Battle, which should be a war.)

It wouldn’t be Max Caster if he didn’t make a Herschel Walker reference, as the camera cut to a Ted Cruz Hates Scissoring sign, which is perfect. Quick tags by both teams, as Caster hit a quick hip toss, dropkick and arm drag on Harwood. Bowens tagged in and immediately traded chops with Harwood. Things got choppy as hip toss attempts took each man into the ropes and shoving match led to a brawl. Wheeler was sent outside, as Harwood was hit with Scissor Me Timbers. Harwood tried a Sharpshooter, but Caster countered and The Acclaimed got double Sharpshooters on FTR. Wheeler & Harwood got the ropes, so The Acclaimed scissored with Daddy Ass. FTR knocked Caster & Bowens outside where they hit Caster with a slingshot using the bottom of the ring as the guillotine.

Caster was isolated the entire commercial until he fought Wheeler off in the corner to hit a diving cross body off the top. Jeff Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh are shown watching backstage, as Bowens made the hot tag and ran wild. Wheeler was sent outside via reverse Rough Ryder, as Harwood was lit up with a combo of strikes to get a Bowens near fall. Harwood battled back with rolling Germans before Wheeler was on the apron and collided with Bowens. Harwood got a roll up with the tights for two, but Bowens hit a neckbreaker for two of his own. Blind tag by Wheeler, as FTR hit a spike piledriver for a close near fall. FTR went for a double suplex, as Caster took out Wheeler with a Spear, while Bowens hit a small package for two. Caster tagged in and hit a cazadora cutter, but Harwood sent Caster colliding into his partner. FTR had to fight for it, but finally hit the Big Rig, as Bowens broke up the count with the crowd going crazy with This Is Awesome chants.

FTR went for the Power-Plex, as Wheeler made the tag, but Bowens sent Harwood to the floor. Bowens hit The Arrival on Wheeler, but Caster missed the Mic Drop. Bowens was flattened by a slam by Wheeler, who turned Caster inside out with a lariat for another close two. Wheeler hit another home run lariat and powerbomb stack, but Caster rolled through it, hooked the legs and got the flash pin to retain. Post match, Wheeler was frustrated, but everyone shook hands and scissored in respect. The Ass Boys were shown on the big screen, called FTR trash and had a card in a stocking saying The Briscoe Brothers have challenged them to a Double Dog Collar Match at Final Battle on Saturday for the ROH Tag Team Titles.

AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz as Wild Thing plays and out walks Jon Moxley from the crowd to kick off the show.

Moxley said his career has been a crazy ride, never knowing what’s around the corner, as three certainties, death, taxes & Jon Moxley. He said no one can outwork him and remains the top of the AEW food chain. Moxley said no man has the balls to tell him any different, as the music of Hangman Page hit to the surprise of fans and Page hit the ring to have a face off.

Moxley asks if Page remembers what happened last time and Page immediately dropped Moxley and started a brawl. Excalibur said that Page had yet to be cleared by doctors. Referees and security tried to separate the two, were unsuccessful at first, as Moxley sprinted up the ramp to get in more shots and fell off the stage a bit for a moment as both were taken to the back before our opening contest.

Bryan Danielson defeated Dax Harwood

(An amazing first time singles meeting between these fine athletes. I was anxiously awaiting this as soon as it was announced a few days ago and to the shock of no one, it delivered big time.)

Harwood countered the ground game and strikes early by Danielson, as these two had This Is Awesome chants before even locking up. Each man countered a LeBell Lock and Sharpshooter respectively before Danielson hit an up kick to the face. Danielson lit up Harwood in the corner with strikes, did his moonsault out of the corner, but Harwood got an O’Connor Roll into a cross body off the second for a near fall. Danielson low bridged Harwood to the floor where he smacked his hip on the edge of the ring, as a follow up tope by Danielson sent Harwood into the front row. Right as they went to commercial, Harwood hit a suplex into the crowd on Danielson.

Danielson broke the count and Harwood stayed on the attack with strikes and three rolling German suplexes. Harwood briefly went up top, but thought otherwise, as a series of reversals led to a perfect piledriver by Harwood for two. Harwood missed a top rope headbutt, as Danielson hit his signature running knee off the apron to the floor. Harwood went for a superplex, but Danielson crotched him, hit anvil elbows and a back superplex, which Harwood rolled through, as did Danielson for two.

Both men rolled to their knees and started headbutting each other before both started no selling lariats until both started getting spaghetti legs. Each tried a home run shot and both collapsed simultaneously. Harwood blocked a home run kick, tried his slingshot powerbomb, but Danielson rolled through into a high kick. Danielson hit his kicks, went for a Busiaku knee, but Harwood countered into his slingshot powerbomb into a Sharpshooter. They did a crazy amount of inside cradle counters until Danielson sank in the LeBell Lock and Harwood tapped. Harwood faked not shaking Danielson’s hand post match, but was just kidding and they showed respect.

-Backstage Ricky Starks is with Tony Schiavone and Starks said he is entering himself in the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal next week as he wants to take MJF’s diamond ring and then the World Title because he is absolute. This is confusing because the winner of the battle royal gets a World Title shot whenever they want. So if Starks wins, he gets two shots? Since he already has a shot at Winter is Coming.

**********

-Back from break, Hangman Page is being escorted from the building, but Jon Moxley runs in and the brawl continues with Page chucking Moxley into the garage door.

-Renee Paquette is on a soundstage in Nashville, TN sitting between Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, Matt Menard, Jeff Parker and Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta. Menard runs his mouth immediately and Renee tells him to shut up. Hager tossed Castagnoli his own purple hat and said he can wear that when he joins the Jericho Appreciation Society. Castagnoli storms out, as Yuta & Garcia verbally go back and forth. Garcia & Hager vs. Castagnoli & Yuta is made for next week and Garcia defending his ROH Pure Title against Yuta at Final Battle is made official.

TNT & ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe defeated AR Fox to defend the TNT Title

(This match unfortunately suffered being in picture in picture, as we only got about 2 minutes of the actual match outside of that. It was fun from what we got, though.)

Fox did a handspring enzugiri that sent Joe to the outside, went for a dive, but Joe side stepped. Joe thought he outsmarted Fox, who landed on his feet and hit a pump kick. Back inside, Joe immediately took control with strikes and running senton. Joe controlled the entire commercial until Fox mounted his comeback, as he fought out of the corner with a leaping DDT.

Fox hit a low cutter and top rope 450 splash for a near fall. Fox went up top again, but Joe side stepped a somersault dive and launched Fox with a Pounce into the ropes. Joe hit a Muscle Buster and got the win.

Post match, Joe declared himself the King of Television before Wardlow interrupted on the big screen and said he’s coming for what is his, this is Wardlow’s World.

-We get another video package highlighting the journey of Powerhouse Hobbs.

-Taz shows us highlights of HOOK defending the FTW Title against Lee Moriarty and how he countered Moriarty into Red Rum at Full Gear.

AEW World Champion MJF Speaks For The First Time

(What I thought was an overlong talking segment turned into something I didn’t really see coming, nor did anyone else. Once MJF did what he did, the crowd was dead silent and shocked. There was rumors about Regal’s contract status in AEW this past week, this was definitely a way to write him off for a while.)

William Regal made his way to the ring, as Excalibur mentions how Jon Moxley is out of the building; now Regal comes slithering in to introduce the new AEW World Champion, MJF, who threw his gum at a little girl.

MJF explains how he & Regal’s union came to fruition. Regal e-mailed MJF after The Firm attacked him and said MJF had become weak, but he’s willing to help him learn how to become a true villain. He shouldn’t grab the Dynamite Diamond ring, but the brass one. Regal wanted MJF to use the brass knucks and leave Moxley with an emotional scar when he was outsmarted by MJF. He said he respects The Firm, who smelled blood in the water, but he’s not going to chase them down, as effort is for poors.

Whenever MJF said the AEW title is tacky, needs an upgrade and no former champion is on his level. MJF threw the old belt down and Regal presented him with the Triple B, the Big Burberry Belt, as the leather is in the design of his Burberry scarf. MJF runs down Eddie Kingston, Ricky Starks and fake wrestlers like Bryan Danielson. MJF said Regal tried with Danielson, but some people just can’t be helped. MJF will be champion until the bidding war of 2024 and the title will be a bargaining chip. MJF mentions Nick Khan & his boy Trips as being bidders, but also mentions Hollywood calling.

MJF said the fans who cheered him winning the title are fickle and will complain just like everyone else. MJF referenced how his reign will be longer than Hulk Hogan; JBL & Jeff Jarrett’s and said his reign will cause Bruno Sammartino to roll in his grave.

MJF turns and thanks Regal for what he did for him and then attacked Regal with brass knuckles to the back of the head to stun the crowd and commentary. MJF said Regal told him he had a lot to learn, but it was Regal who made a deal with the devil. MJF quoted Regal’s message to him years ago and said when Regal is ready, to send him his stuff. MJF left through the crowd and Bryan Danielson sprinted to the ring with doctors, who loaded Regal on a stretcher to almost dead silence.

**********

Before the next match begins, Stokely Hathaway & Ethan Page come out with Matt Hardy, who poses for the crowd. Hathaway told Hardy, whose contract he owns along with Private Party, to get to the back, as Ethan Page told Hardy he’s going to help him win the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal next week. Page said he’s calling his shot and will beat whoever wins between Starks & MJF.

Ricky Starks defeated Ari Daivari

Starks was attacked from behind, but quickly his a Spear and Roshambo for the lightning quick win.

-Backstage Tony Schiavone is with AEW World Champion Jamie Hayter, Britt Baker & Rebel. Hayter said since Saraya is having a sit down with Renee Paquette next week, Hayter will have a sit down with Tony Schiavone. That was literally it.

Willow Nightingale defeated Anna Jay A.S. (w/Tay Melo)

(Crowd was firmly behind Willow in this one, as hopefully this is a start to her climbing her way up the women’s ranks.)

Nightingale showed off her power early with shoulder tackles, short arm lariat and low cross body for two. Nightingale missed a corner charge, as Jay hit a spin kick and Blockbuster to gain control during commercial. Both ladies traded forearms until Nightingale hit a corner splash, big boot and spinebuster for a near fall. Jay hit a back kick and nasty slam, but Nightingale kicked out with the crowd vocally behind her. Nighingale got out of Queen Slayer, knocked Melo off the apron and ultimately flattened Jay with a Doctor Bomb for the win.

As Melo was helping Jay to her feet, Ruby Soho’s music hit and she was standing behind Melo, who broke Soho’s nose a few months back. Melo tried to bail, but Soho hit Destination Unknown on the ramp, as Taz sang along with her theme like only he can.

-Video highlighting the return of the House of Black last week is shown before Tony Schiavone is backstage with QT Marshall & Orange Cassidy. Marshall wants a shot at the All-Atlantic title on Rampage in a Lumberjack Match and Cassidy interrupts him, accepting.

Jade Cargill Championship Celebration

Cargill came out with Red Velvet & Leyla Gray to confetti, balloons and cake. Cargill said she’s the brightest star AEW has and she puts asses in seats. Cargill creates careers and calls Lil’ Bow Wow a joke, as he showed up on the big screen. He said he’s done with touring and said he’d see Cargill soon. This was it and got crickets from the crowd.

The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) w/Don Callis, Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa) defeated AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle (PAC & Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix) w/Alex Abrahantes) to win Match 3 of the Best of 7 Series and make it 2-1

(This had a different feel to the first two matches of this series, as it was brawling heavy in the first half before things really ramped up the second half. The hammer helped Death Triangle to go up in the series, but it is slowly becoming their downfall if they keep relying on it.)

The Elite wasted no time attacking Death Triangle at the ramp before the bell. PAC was sent face first into the entrance and Omega hit him with a Kotaro Crusher. The Bucks held PAC for a charging Omega V-Trigger down the ramp, but PAC countered with a superkick and Lucha Bros took out the Bucks with somersault Cutters. All six men brawled all over the entrance area, PAC hitting a moonsault off the stage and The Bucks hitting Penta & Fenix with dueling powerbombs on the edge of the apron as the match official began. Rick Knox immediately was flattened with a superkick by Matt Jackson, as Penta wiped The Elite out with a somersault dive.

Alex Abrahantes handed Penta the hammer again, but Fenix tried to put a stop to it, as Penta shoved his brother. Omega took out Fenix with a V-Trigger, as Penta ate a double superkick and Snap Dragon before Omega nailed a Kamigoye. The Elite had miscommunication by hitting Omega with a double corner kick, as Death Triangle hit triple dives and Penta hit Omega with Fear Factor for two. Superkick Party from Matt led to locomotion Northern Lights before PAC wiped him out. Omega & PAC fought in the corner before PAC hit a headbutt with his protective mask and avalanche falcon arrow for two.

Omega was isolated for the commercial break until PAC hit a snap German, which Omega no sold into a lariat before collapsing. Fenix & Nick made the tag and went a mile a minute with their offense as Nick hit a cazadora cutter for two. Fenix tried a double cross body on The Bucks, who caught him and hit More Bang for Your Buck to get a close near fall. PAC & Penta put a stop to the BTE Trigger, as Omega fought them both off until Fenix flew in with a rolling Cutter. The double stomp Fear Factor on Nick connected, Lucha Bros took out Omega & Matt outside and PAC got a two count on Nick after a brainbuster. Lucha Bros held Nick & Omega from making the save as PAC went for Black Arrow, but Matt got his knees up and rolled up PAC for the win. Omega said post match there wasn’t going to be a sweep with The Cleaner involved and said his Goodbye and Goodnight to cap off the show.

**********

AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz as they recap the main event from Full Gear, while Lord William Regal is already in the ring.

Regal said the fans will have to wait until next week to hear from MJF, as he not only doesn’t want to come to Chicago, but he’s on set of a major motion picture. Jon Moxley’s music interrupts and out from the crowd walks the now former AEW World Champion. Moxley is about to go at Regal, but Bryan Danielson quickly hits the ring and holds back Moxley.

Danielson said they’ve all done bad things in their careers and asks Moxley not to hurt Regal. He slapped Moxley to try to get him to calm down, which was a questionable tactic. Danielson said the struggles Moxley has dealt with, his father suffered the same struggles, but Danielson couldn’t understand, so Regal helped him. Danielson mentions Moxley’s daughter and how this could help her with her own father. Moxley got in Regal’s face and said he only wants Regal to do one thing, run far away from him and never come back. Regal slowly retreated, as the crowd chanted Hey, Hey, Hey, Goodbye.

-We go backstage to Renee Paquette with Keith Lee, asking his thoughts on Full Gear. Lee didn’t get out one word before Swerve Strickland walked in, put his hand over the camera and said they need to talk.

Orange Cassidy (w/Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta & Rocky Romero) defeated Jake Hager (w/Matt Menard, Angelo Parker & Daniel Garcia) to retain the AEW All-Atlantic Title

(Hager being more worried about his hat staying on made him a joke in this match. This could’ve been much better if that wasn’t the focus. The post match was far more consequential.)

Hager put Cassidy’s glasses on to go with his purple bucket hat, so Cassidy delivered his little kicks, but got mowed over by Hager. Cassidy knocked off the hat, low bridged Hager, did a little bull fighting with Menard & Parker before trying a dive on Hager, was caught and posted. Hager regained his precious hat and that’s what took us to commercial.

Hager controlled the action the entire break until Cassidy was knocked off the apron, but did a trust fall onto his Best Friends, who Hager promptly steamrolled. Cassidy took out Garcia, Menard & Parker on a dive before Hager caught a top rope DDT attempt, which Cassidy countered into a stundog millionaire and satellite DDT. Hager blocked an Orange Punch into a slam and slapped on the ankle lock. Cassidy got the hold broke by ripping the hat off Hager, who was more preoccupied putting his hat on, as Cassidy got a cazadora roll up to retain.

Post match, QT Marshall & The Factory interrupted, as his microphone was quickly cut off. The lights went out and Julia Hart appeared on stage, as The House of Black were in the ring and annihilated Best Friends & Rocky Romero as The Factory applauded. That lasted a few seconds before Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews & Brody King demolished them as well. Security guards and prelim wrestlers hit the ring, but they all suffered the same fate. The crowd went crazy for the destruction, which capped with Brody King hitting Dante’s Inferno on a security guard on the ramp. Excalibur said no one is safe now that the House of Black has returned.

-Recap of the Jack Perry & Luchasaurus cage match from Full Gear is shown. Perry said as much as he resents Luchasaurus, he’s glad he shared that moment with him after everything they’ve been through.

Ricky Starks defeated Ethan Page (w/Stokely Hathaway) to win the Title Eliminator Tournament

(Despite the Starks injury hampering his explosiveness, this match picked up the second half and now our AEW World Title is officially set for Winter is Coming.)

Starks is super taped up after having to get through Lance Archer & Brian Cage in a 24 hour span this past weekend. Page had an easy going early, really going after the injured ribs until Starks relentlessly poured it on in the corner. Starks tried a float over in the corner, but Page put on the brakes and punted the ribs. Page played to the crowd, as Starks hit a desperation Spear, but couldn’t capitalize. Page drove Starks to the barricade and post outside and remained in control the entire picture in picture.

Starks made his one arm comeback, tried a Tornado DDT, but Page hung him up rib first on the ropes. Starks fought back and sent Page outside, as he reluctantly tried a dive, but Hathaway shoved Page out of the way and Starks missed the mark. The referee ejected Hathaway for getting involved as we get our second Hey, Hey, Hey, Goodbye chant of the evening. Page & Starks went up in the corner, as Page tried an avalanche bodyslam, but Starks hit a superplex.

Slugfest ensued, as Starks hit a swinging neckbreaker and nice Tornado DDT for two. Starks couldn’t get Roshambo, as Page hit a powerslam for two of his own. Starks avoided Ego’s Edge, but Page missed a lariat and ate multiple Spears from Starks to get the victory. Starks now faces MJF at Winter Is Coming on December 14th.

-A quick recap of Samoa Joe winning the TNT Title at Full Gear is shown, along with some words from Wardlow saying it’s still Wardlow’s World.

**********

-Video of Jade Cargill confronting Bow Wow at his concert in Miami a few days ago. Renee Paquette is backstage with Jade & The Baddies and asks what is going on. Jade said she’s not giving any clout to the whack ass rapper and welcomes Red Velvet back to the Baddies. Next week they’ll have a celebration, since she’s already been there, done that in Chicago. Mark Sterling came in and said Cargill has no comment on Bow Wow, as Sterling served Kiera Hogan papers saying she didn’t live up to her end of the deal as a Baddie and her services are no longer needed with Red Velvet back.

AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle (PAC & Lucha Bros (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix)w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) w/Don Callis, Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa) to win Match 2 of the Best of 7 Series and go up 2-0

(Spectacular showing from everyone involved, as the crowd was firmly behind Death Triangle, while The Elite had their fun making CM Punk references during this one.)

Pretty vocal boos for The Elite in CM Punk’s backyard during their Carry on Wayward Son entrance, while PAC has a facemask on because of his broken nose from last Saturday. Fenix & Omega shook hands to start, but Omega hit a quick V-Trigger as The Elite put the boots to Fenix to deafening boos. Penta & PAC ate double apron powerbombs, while Omega hit a Sky High for two on Fenix. Everyone brawled outside until Omega mocked the GTS pose, but Fenix cut off a Terminator Dive with a somersault cutter that Omega landed square on his head. Fenix hit a twisting dive on everyone outside, as Death Triangle took over.

Risky Business combination, as Omega & PAC had a quick series of reversals until PAC clutched his face to the floor, were Nick promptly punted him in the face. Matt hit a moonsault off the post to wipe out Fenix & Penta, as Omega hit the Kotaro Krusher on PAC and isolate him through break.

Omega bit at the arm of PAC to give yet another reference to the Brawl Out post presser, as Penta got the hot tag and ran wild with offense as only he can with a series of DDTs. Fenix showed off his amazing athleticism with a springboard hurricanrana on Nick, while kicking Matt’s face off to follow. Omega & PAC go back at it, as the Chicago fans started a ‘This is Awesome’ chant. Snap Dragon from Omega, as PAC’s facemask was ripped off and ate a triple superkick for a near fall.

Nick wiped out Penta & Fenix with a dive, as Omega hit a perfect V-Trigger, but PAC avoided One Winged Angel. Omega hit a GTS to make the Chicago crowd lose their minds, but PAC kicked out at two. Fenix bailed PAC out from eating a Meltzer Driver, as Fenix did a tope. Matt hit a low blow on PAC was handed the hammer by Brandon Cutler, but before he could use it, Penta appeared behing Matt with a hammer of his own and laid him out, as PAC stole the pin.

-Renee Paquette is on stage and announced that due to the injuries to Thunder Rosa and uncertainty when she can return, AEW has asked her to forfeit the Women’s Title. This got a massive ovation from the crowd, as Renee introduces the new AEW Women’s Champion, Jamie Hayter. Britt Baker talked on Hayter’s behalf and said they never considered this the Interim title.

**********

AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter & Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. (w/Rebel) defeated Skye Blue & Willow Nightingale and Tay Melo & Anna Jay A.S.

(Lots of this took place during commercial, with only about the last minute having the party match feel.)

Melo & Jay tried an early double suplex on Hayter, but it was reversed and Hayter powered both ladies over. Baker jumped in and took the fight to Melo with a sling blade, but Melo avoided a suplex and popped Baker with a punch. Baker tagged Nightingale, who ran wild on the J.A.S. and Blue hit an assisted cazadora splash. Melo got in a cheap shot and wiped out Nightingale on the floor, as she remained isolated until a shoving match between Melo, Jay, Baker & Hayter happened, allowing Blue to make the hot tag.

Hayter saved Jay from taking a pin, as every lady took turns hitting a high impact move before a Code Blue by Skye, as Baker broke the pin up. Hayt-Breaker by Hayter led to Baker hitting a Curb Stomp on Blue to win it.

Excalibur told us that due to Rosa forfeiting the title, Toni Storm’s title reign will be recognized without the Interim next to it and we’ll hear from Storm on Rampage.

-Renee Paquette (who RJ City brilliantly mentioned on Twitter is wearing the Sue Ellen Mischke look from Seinfeld) is backstage with Top Flight & FTR. Harwood said he hopes Top Flight takes over the tag division for years to come, as Darius challenges FTR for the ROH Tag Titles on Rampage Friday.

The Acclaimed came out to the ring to celebrate their title defense at Full Gear along with Daddy Ass. Bowens said his shoulder is feeling better, while Billy Gunn ripped off his bandages on his hands. Just as they were all about to scissor, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, Satnam Singh & Jeff Jarrett appeared on the big screen to loud TNA Sucks chants. Caster had mentioned Lethal & Jarrett in his rap coming to the ring. Jarrett did the same promo he does all the time before Gunn cut him off so he could scissor with The Acclaimed. This was literally all that happened.

**********

ROH World Champion Chris Jericho defeated Tomohiro Ishii to retain the title

(This was a war of a main event and Jericho has the battle scars to prove it. Just when you think the crowd was quieting down and getting tired, Ishii does what he does best, pull them right back in and bite at every chance he had at potentially uncrowning Jericho.)

Bobby Cruise is on ring announcing duty, while Ian Riccaboni has joined commentary to run down Ishii’s accomplishments. Jericho did what no one should do against Ishii, yell and slap him in the face. It resulted in a slap battle that Ishii won before punting Jericho in the back. Jericho took a powder briefly until a forearm battle commenced and this one ended with a backdrop suplex. Jericho missed a Code Breaker, while Ishii missed an enzugiri. Both men collided off shoulder blocks and Jericho went down. During the entire commercial break, these two just continued to chop each other and nothing else, as Jericho’s chest was bleeding as a result.

We return live to the sound of ‘Chop Forever’ chants as Taz compares Jericho’s chest to a raw piece of Kobe steak. Finally, Jericho switched to clotheslines in the corner, went up for ten punches, as Ishii powerbombed out for two. Both men were on the apron where Jericho did a DDT on the hardest part of the ring, as Jericho landed on his arm really awkwardly too. Ishii has no neck, so he was up relatively quickly, as the slugfest continued in the ring.

Each man traded German suplexes until Ishii collapsed, Jericho hit a Lionsault, but Ishii was up at one. Jericho hit a Code Breaker, but Ishii again kicked out. Ishii avoided the Judas Effect and delivered a headbutt flush as Jericho went down. Sliding lariat by the challenger, but Jericho kicked out. Jericho countered the brainbuster into a Walls of Jericho attempt, but Ishii countered into a Code Breaker and home run lariat for a close two. Ishii lit up Jericho with forearms until Jericho shot the double leg, got the Walls of Jericho, transitioned into the Liontamer, as Ishii flipped Jericho off and tapped out.

Post match, Jericho stormed up the ramp and was about to go after Ian Riccaboni, but Claudio Castagnoli cut him off with a slap to drop the ROH Champion to end the show, as Castagnoli certainly feels like a potential challenger for the ROH title come Final Battle.

AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone, Taz & Ian Riccaboni as they run down tonight’s card.

Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson defeated ROH World Champion Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara

(An action packed opener with all four men getting in plenty of offense ahead of the ROH World Title 4 Way match on Saturday. There was a little hiccup at the end between Guevara & Jericho, so some subtle seeds were planted for them to be on different pages come Full Gear.)

Jericho & Castagnoli and Danielson & Guevara paired off early with the latter picking up where they left off in their main event last week. Danielson & Castagnoli took turns using anvil elbows before Danielson got a Romero Special on Guevara. Guevara used his speed to momentarily overtake Castagnoli, who answered with a stalling vertical suplexes on both J.A.S. members. Jericho briefly got the advantage on Danielson by going after his injured eye from last week, but Danielson chopped his way free. Danielson was dropped and allowed Le Sex Gods to pose for the crowd. Danielson no sold a Guevara corner chop and lit him up with strikes and corner charges until Guevara got a drop toe hold into the buckle. With the referee’s attention turned, Jericho popped Danielson in the face with Floyd the bat as they went to commercial.

Danielson was isolated throughout the entire break, as Ian Riccaboni says Jericho is becoming what he’s despised, a successful ROH Champion. Danielson moonsaulted out of the corner and wiped Jericho out with a flying elbow to make the hot tag, as Castagnoli ran wild with uppercuts, including one of the springboard variety. Castagnoli went for a giant swing, but Guevara put a stop to it, as he took out Danielson with a dive, while Jericho locked in Castagnoli with the Walls of Jericho. Danielson posted Guevara and broke up the submission with a shotgun dropkick.

Guevara & Danielson both made the tag and had a stare down, as Danielson leaned into the forearms and starched Guevara with a strike and kicks. Again Guevara went for the eyes, looked for GTH, but Danielson rolled through into the LeBell Lock. Guevara got a rope break, but they went up the ropes, Guevara bit his way from Danielson’s grasps and hit a super cutter. Jericho hit a Lionsault, as Castagnoli broke things up. Danielson & Jericho both tried for charging attacks and collided for the double down. Danielson made the tag, but Jericho was more worried about reaching for Floyd than tagging Guevara, as Danielson took out Guevara with a dive. Castagnoli hit a long giant swing; afterwards he disarmed Jericho and his bat, locked in a Sharpshooter and got the submission.

-Video package is shown highlighting Jon Moxley vs. MJF at Full Gear, as we will hear from both men later in the night.

**********

-Black and white video is shown of Darby Allin in a body bag being picked up by Sting and placed in the back seat of a car. Allin gets free and sits up front while Sting says Full Gear will be Showtime. We cut back to Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh & Jeff Jarrett backstage as Jarrett said he & Sting have wrestled for 24 years and Full Gear will be the last time.

-Before the next match, The Acclaimed premiered their new music video mocking Swerve in Our Glory. It started with Paul Wight bringing back his Captain Insano character from The Waterboy while being interviewed by The Acclaimed as they made fun of guys dressed like Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland. It ended with The Acclaimed & Daddy Ass walking on the beach, holding hands.

Swerve Strickland defeated Anthony Bowens

(While most of this was shown during commercial break, it got the message across that Strickland really did a number on Bowens arm, which could hamper The Acclaimed’s chances of defending their title in Match 3 of this series. There was no Keith Lee with Strickland tonight.)

Max Caster did a pre-match rap that included a line about Jay Leno burning himself this past week. Tony Schiavone wished Leno well and referenced working with Leno in 1998 in WCW. For the second week in a row, Daddy Ass attacked Strickland pre-match and was taken away by referees as a result and Caster just left with him. Bowens got the early offense until Strickland used his speed and kicks to send Bowens to the floor and wiped out with a Fosbury Flop. Bowens was launched into the front row, as Strickland controlled the entire commercial.

Bowens, mouth busted open, tripped up Strickland in the corner and mounted a comeback that included a charging back elbow. Despite being slow to put his offense together due to the early attack by Strickland, Bowens hit an Angle Slam for two, tried a spin slam, but Strickland answered with a brainbuster and kill shot kick for a near fall. Strickland violently snapped the arm of Bowens and hit a top rope Swerve Stomp, but again got two. Bowens tried a school boy, but Strickland again wrenched at the arm and hit the JML Driver for the clean win.

-Video package on Jade Cargill vs. Nyla Rose for the TBS Title at Full Gear is shown.

Samoa Joe Interviewed by Tony Schiavone

Despite turning on Wardlow last week, Joe still entered through the babyface tunnel. Joe was asked about his shocking actions and he said his actions weren’t shocking, as Wardlow’s actions resulted in him paying the price. Joe refuses to be the victim like most of the fans here tonight. Joe didn’t wait around to be saved, he saved himself and if anyone has a problem, they should take it up with him. Powerhouse Hobbs interrupted and said he’s been the one kicking Wardlow’s ass the last several weeks and hits the ring to do the same to Joe, but Wardlow interrupted, as he hit the ring from the crowd and attacked Joe. All three men had to be pulled apart by the locker room. As Joe & Hobbs were taken outside the ring, Dark Order just let Wardlow go, as he wiped out everyone with a dive over the top to stand tall.

**********

-Britt Baker is backstage alone, recapping what Saraya said about her last week. In three years she became a leader in the AEW locker room and became her own role model. She earned opportunities instead of being handed them. Baker said she might not have wrestled at MSG, but she wrestled in Daily’s Place during the pandemic, something Saraya would never know about. Baker respects Saraya, but this business owes Saraya nothing, as Baker is the heart, soul & pulse of AEW. If Saraya can’t respect that, Saraya needs to get the hell out of her house.

Death Triangle (PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fenix w/Alex Abrahantes) defeated Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin) & AR Fox to retain the AEW Trios Titles

(Can you believe these six men had an awesome match? Shocking, I know, as this was a full speed action packed match when they weren’t on commercial. This was a fantastic battle.)

Welcome back Darius Martin, who is returning to action following a car accident earlier this year. He & Fenix began the match and to the surprise of no one, they started a mile a minute with counters aplenty that led to a stalemate. Penta & Dante jumped in, as Dante did a wall walk into a no handed leap frog and sent Penta outside, which was just incredible. Fox & PAC had a face off, as both did flips to avoid each other until Fox hit a jump kick and cutter that sent PAC outside. Fox did a moonsault from the inside to the floor and senton atomico back in the ring for two. The match broke down briefly until Top Flight launched PAC high in the air into an awaiting Fox cutter. Lucha Bros made the save and Death Triangle hit a three way dropkick on Fox. Cazadora splash moonsault combo got a two count into commercial.

Fox was isolated the entire break, but got the hot tag right when they returned to Darius, who dropped PAC with a brainbuster for two. Darius got a reverse waistlock on his own brother and launched him over his head, as PAC nearly took out Fenix with a kick, but pulled up. Top Flight laid out PAC & Fenix with a DDT & spinning slam respectively, as Penta was taken out by a Darius dive, while Dante hit his no hand dive on PAC & Fenix. Fox hit an inverted flip to take everyone out. Back inside, Fenix was set up in the corner and Fox hit Lo Mein Pain and 450 Splash for a close two. Top Flight were dropped by PAC & Penta, while Fenix hit his comeback kick. Penta hit the Fear Factor by Penta, double stomp by Fenix, who took out Top Flight with a dive, while PAC hit Black Arrow on Fox for the win.

Post match, PAC said Death Triangle aren’t stupid, he said they’ve seen the videos and said if certain individuals want to come into Full Gear and beat Death Triangle, that’s ridiculous. PAC said Death Triangle hides from no one. A ticking clock is shown on the big screen and a graphic with Death Triangle against a blank side, but it’s slowly revealed to be The Elite. Death Triangle vs. The Elite for the Trios Titles at Full Gear is official.

-Ricky Starks is backstage and talks about Lance Archer attacking him last week prior to their tournament match. Their match will happen on Rampage this Friday.

Ethan Page (w/Stokely Hathaway) defeated Bandido to advance in the Title Eliminator Tournament

(The crowd seemed dead for the first half of this match, but Page & Bandido got them really into it the second half. These two had a solid match and Page continues to look strong in this tournament.)

After Page controlled early momentarily, Bandido used his speed and agility to take over. Page tried a stalling vertical suplex, but Bandido turned the tide with one of his own. Page grabbed the ref, which allowed Stokely to trip up Bandido and Page to get a cheap shot.

Bandido had his hope spots, but Page controlled most of the break. Bandido was able to hit a low dropkick, send Page to the floor, where Bandido did a moonsault off the ring post. Back inside, Bandido hit a tornillo for a close two count. Page blocked the 21 Plex and hit a cutter for two of his own. Page went for the Avalanche Ego’s Edge, the same way he beat Eddie Kingston, but Bandido countered into a super hurricanrana and one handed gorilla press slam. Bandido hit a top rope frog splash for two and a lot of the crowd bit at the false finish. Each man cut the other off in the ropes until Page hit a top rope body slam and diving shoulder tackle. The Egos Edge hit and Page advances to the finals.

-Video package showcasing the feud between Jungle Boy Jack Perry & Luchasaurus is highlighted.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Saraya and said she never thought she’d be in this moment. Saraya is sick of the back and forth with Britt Baker, she wants to be where the best is and the best is in AEW. She’ll see Britt at Full Gear.

**********

-Quick video about Eddie Kingston & Ortiz vs. Konosuke Takeshita & Jun Akiyama is shown. Kingston said in 1998, Hiroshi Hase vs. Jun Akiyama in the Tokyo Dome was the moment Eddie Kingston wanted to fight Akiyama and he’s waited for this moment his whole life. Come Rampage, they better bring it.

AEW Interim Women’s Champion Toni Storm defeated Anna Jay A.S. in a Title Eliminator Match

(Most of this took place during commercial and it really was rest holds by Jay while that was happening. Storm got to get in a nice series of offense to lead to her victory, but aside from that, not a whole lot happened here.)

If Jay wins, she gets the first title shot at whoever is the Interim Women’s champion after Full Gear. Storm was in control early until Jay kicked the leg out from Storm in the corner and hit a low dropkick. Jay had a long rest hold during commercial before Storm recovered and had a forearm battle, which the champion won. Storm hit a Thesz Press, clothesline and fisherman’s suplex for two. Jay scrambled to the ropes, but Storm hit Sweet Cheek Music that sent Jay flying outside. Jay answered by sending Storm into the steps and hit a face buster on the floor. Back inside, Jay hit a superkick for two, looked for Queen Slayer, but Storm got free with a shotgun dropkick. Another Sweet Cheek Music connected, as Storm sank on the Texas Cloverleaf and Jay immediately tapped.

Post match, Jamie Hayter hit the ring, as champion & challenger had an intense face off leading to their Full Gear title match.

**********

Jon Moxley & MJF Face Off

(This was a good go home segment for the main event, as I’m still firmly (no pun intended) believing MJF is in cahoots with Stokely. Although the final shot of this show had Regal really staring a hole through MJF, which leads me to believe maybe he’s potentially in on it? I could be way off, but that wouldn’t surprise me either. I just don’t think MJF, the man who calls himself the Devil, is winning clean on Saturday.)

Moxley came to the ring with Lord William Regal and says he’s the best wrestler on Earth, backing it up, defining the AEW World title. He’s sick in the head; he’s addicted to the adrenaline and pain. Moxley has researched MJF and found out he’s a good singer, who has had 1 win in the last 6 months, against Mox’s young boy. He did a Brian Pillman stunt and won the worst finish to a ladder match he had ever seen. Mox said the fans will see something special at Full Gear, what he does best, he’s challenging MJF to show him balls at the PPV. Stokely Hathaway walked out to the ramp, as The Firm all hit the ring to attack Moxley & Regal.

MJF’s music hit and hit hit the ring, while laying out The Gunns & Lee Moriarty on his way. MJF dropped W. Morrissey with a low blow and dispatched of Ethan Page as well. MJF told Stokely & crew to leave before he keeps kicking their ass. He saved Moxley because he doesn’t want Mox to have any excuses come Full Gear. MJF said he’s not the same kid when they fought the first time and told Regal he wouldn’t need the Dynamite Diamond Ring. MJF needs that AEW title more than he needs water, food or oxygen. The title means you’re the best wrestler in the world and it’s his time. MJF said the greatest trick the devil ever pulled is convincing the world he didn’t exist, but before MJF could finish his catchphrase, Moxley cut him off. Moxley said this Saturday; the training wheels come off, as they had a faceoff with Regal in the middle of them.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz as they run down tonight’s card.

AEW Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster w/Billy Gunn) & FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) defeated The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn w/W. Morrissey) & Swerve In Our Glory (Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee)

(This was your standard party match to kick off the show, as the crowd was super into it. Since we already know The Acclaimed & Swerve in our Glory Part 3 is happening at Full Gear, I wouldn’t be surprised if FTR & The Gunns are announced at some point. Harwood & Wheeler worked well with Austin & Colten here tonight, giving me zero reason to think that wouldn’t be the case if it happens at the PPV.)

Excalibur put over the busy travel week for FTR, who are fresh off defending their IWGP Tag Titles in Osaka against Great O-Khan & Jeff Cobb. Max Caster’s rap consisted of Tom Brady, Herschel Walker, Kyrie Irving & Ass Boys references, as Billy Gunn hit the ring to tackle Swerve Strickland, but agent BJ Whitmer broke it up and escorted Billy to the back.

Austin Gunn & Harwood had a nice opening sequence until Austin ping ponged to the wrong corner eating strikes. Wheeler & Strickland jumped in to have a fast back and forth before Strickland bailed from the clutches of Caster, who had a faceoff with Lee. Caster cleaned house on everyone before the match broke down with FTR & Acclaimed delivering ten corner punches to each opponent, as the heels bailed, which allowed The Acclaimed & FTR to scissor into picture in picture.

Like most matches on Dynamite, the heels took control during break, as it was Harwood the one who was isolated after Morrissey wiped him out with a big boot outside. Colten missed a corner splash, which allowed Bowens to make the hot tag. Bowens hit sort of a Fame-Asser variation on Colten, but only got two. Gunn’s hit a Big Rig on Bowens for two of their own. We had a square off with all eight men, but it was Keith Lee who reluctantly joined his team as the match broke down again. FTR & The Gunn’s spilled outside, as Lee powerbombed Bowens onto Caster, while Strickland & Lee hit a double team and Strickland wiped everyone out with a twisting dive outside. This led to a superplex spot, with Harwood & Colten collapsed onto the pile.

Back inside, Austin tried to mock the Road Dogg with his jabs, but Harwood locked on the Sharpshooter, which, if you heard Roadie’s comments today about Bret, was super timely. Bowens & Caster dropped Austin with the spinning slam & Mic Drop, while Colten was put away with the Big Rig to give FTR & Acclaimed the victory.

-We go to a video of MJF on the Pardon My Take radio show talking about how doctor’s told MJF not to travel after the attack by The Firm. He said history will be made at Full Gear and compares himself to generational talents like Bruno Sammartino, John Cena, The Rock, among others. MJF doesn’t like Jon Moxley, but he respects him because he had to work his ass off to get where he’s at. MJF was born to do this, to act in movies, wave the flag of AEW and bring pro wrestling back to where it was. MJF said the spotlight in AEW has always been stolen from him and listed examples, saying William Regal bet on the wrong horse, as come Full Gear, the devil gets his due. This was an excellent taped promo from MJF.

**********

-Stokely Hathaway cut a pre-tape promo about growing up with MJF, but suddenly he forgot where he came from. Stokely said MJF’s dick riding Jon Moxley without a license. He doesn’t need MJF, as he’s going to do this without him and he’ll see Max in hell.

Ethan Page (w/Stokely Hathaway) defeated Eddie Kingston (w/Ortiz) to advance in the Title Eliminator Tournament

(During this match, Tony Schiavone mentioned AEW coming to the United Kingdom in 2023 and more info will be made next week. This was a very good match and as much as I wanted Kingston to take this, he’s been stacking tag wins with Ortiz lately on Elevation & Dark, while Page is in the feud with Moxley & MJF, so this makes sense. I just wish Kingston would get his main event match at some point, he’s earned it and the fans always love him)

Excalibur ran down the history between Kingston & Page, ranging from cage matches, I Quit matches in promotions like AIW and AAW. The crowd was super loud for Kingston, who dished out a few chops early, but Page wiped him out with a diving shoulder tackle off the apron outside. Kingston fought back inside with a butterfly suplex, but Page quickly turned the table with a hard corner buckle. The match spilled outside again with a Page snap suplex.

Page leapt off the second rope back inside, but Kingston hit an enzugiri in mid air and lit up Page with more chops. Kingston tried a corner charge, but ran right into a Page powerslam to cut off his momentum. Page wanted Ego’s Edge, but Kingston countered with a suplex for two. Slug fest ensued with Kingston winning that battle into a DDT for a close two. Kingston hit an Exploder, locked on the Stretch Plum, but Hathaway took the ref as Page tapped out. Ortiz ran off Hathaway, as Kingston turned and crumbled by a Page high kick. Page went up top, cut off by Kingston, who himself was crutched by Page, who hit a wild avalanche Ego’s Edge for three and Page’s biggest singles win to date in AEW. Page will face the winner of Bandido & Rush in the next round of the tournament.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Jose the Assistant, Rush and Dark Order. Jose said he wanted 10 there specifically because when Rush wins, he likes 10, so he’ll get the first title shot, while Uno, Reynolds & Silver will never get one. Silver called Rush a “Rush-bag” and there was a pull apart. I legit forgot this 10 & Rush storyline was still going on.

In the ring, Ari Daivari is in the ring with his Trust-butler JeevSK and said he wants the TNT Title, which immediately brought out Wardlow with Samoa Joe, as there’s an impromptu TNT Title match apparently on our hands.

Wardlow (w/Samoa Joe) defeated Ari Daivari to retain the TNT Title

(The match was quick, but if you watched Rampage this past week, you can’t be shocked by Joe’s actions here, as it was only a matter of time. I love that Joe & Hobbs can still happen, as there are some serious hoss matches on tap in the TNT Title picture.)

Wardlow immediately sent the butler outside, headbutted Daivari down and leveled him with his roundhouse lariat. Wardlow really soaked in the crowd chants during the Powerbomb Symphony with four of them to get the easy win.

Powerhouse Hobbs was called out, he came to the stage and Wardlow said the TNT Title will always be his and will take every title in this company. Samoa Joe, right on cue, wiped out Wardlow when he heard that line and choked Wardlow out with his sleeper. Joe stared down Hobbs at the ramp, who said he’d kick Joe’s ass too, squashing any idea of Joe & Hobbs being in cahoots.

**********

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Jade Cargill & The Baddies, as it’s official at Full Gear with Jade vs. Nyla Rose for the TBS Title. Jade said she’ll handle Nyla on Rampage.

Dr. Britt Baker & Saraya Face To Face

(This blew Saraya’s first promo out of the water, as she was excellent here, as was Britt Baker. This match has been built very well and I’m genuinely looking forward to see what these two ladies do come Full Gear.)

Tony Schiavone introduced both women, gave Saraya the opening comments, as Saraya said she took tests and unfortunately for Britt, she’s 100% cleared. Saraya broke down in tears, as the crowd went nuts for this news. Baker said there’s nothing more fickle than an AEW fan, as the thing to make clear is that she built the AEW women’s division for “superstars” like Saraya to come in. Baker said Saraya has the audacity to call AEW her house, when she’s never laid a single brick. Saraya is jealous of her, leaving her old house to walk into Baker’s and they don’t take walk-ins and “bitch, make an appointment” which popped even Taz.

Saraya said Baker was given her position by Tony Khan, fed QT Marshall’s trainees and been in front of the camera three years, while Saraya has been in this game for seventeen years. She’s been hit by a car and wrestled the same day because she loves this business. Saraya said she’s wrestled everywhere before wrestling was even a twinkle in her eye. Saraya has been embarrassed publically and battled drug addiction publically, giving her neck to this business. This can be another opportunity handed to Britt, as this is the biggest match of her career, as it’s Saraya vs. Baker at Full Gear.

Baker tried a cheap shot, but Saraya dropped her with what was formerly known as the RamPaige to stand tall.

-Backstage Sonjay Dutt, Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh is with QT Marshall and The Factory. Dutt paid Cole Karter for his services next week until Best Friends, Orange Cassidy & Danhausen interrupted. Lee Johnson vs. Orange Cassidy for the All-Atlantic Title was made for Rampage, while Trent Beretta & Jay Lethal was made literally right now.

Jay Lethal (w/Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh) defeated Trent Beretta (w/Chuck Taylor & Danhausen)

(I know it was a pre-tape promo prior to this, but these two got to the ring in record time. Lethal took a majority of the battle, as there was a lot of moving parts towards the end in what was a fun quick match. At one point, Schiavone said Lethal was shot out of a cannon, Taz asked if they still sell cannons and Schiavone said he probably dated himself, which was a hilarious back and forth.)

Lethal cut off Beretta’s entrance with a chop block and drove him into the steps. The match officially started, with Beretta hitting an overhead belly to belly suplex, but Lethal got a dragon screw to send Beretta outside as Chuck Taylor & Danhausen walked out to corner their buddy, as Lethal put the Figure Four on outside. It was all Lethal during picture in picture, working over the leg more and dropping Beretta with a Lethal Combination

Beretta got the knees up to block a top rope elbow, as Taz said he had to do it, despite his leg being worked over. Beretta hit a German and half & half suplex that led to a Tornado DDT to give Beretta two. Beretta hit an avalanche half & half suplex and charging knee, but didn’t go for the pin, opted for Strong Zero, as Sonjay Dutt ran distraction. Danhausen put a stop to it, trying to curse Singh; it didn’t work, so he just punched Dutt in the groin. Lethal caught Beretta with a Lethal Injection and won it.

-Tony Schiavone tried to interview Sonjay & crew, but was told to buzz off, as he introduced Jeff Jarrett. Hearing My World on AEW Dynamite will not stop being weird to me. Jarrett said his debut had a million views and ran down the accomplishments of Dutt, Lethal & Singh. Jarrett is screaming this whole promo, calling out Sting & Allin, as a stage hand was trying to wrap him up and Jarrett chased after him to end the segment. This went on too long.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Jungle Boy Jack Perry, who said Luchasaurus & Christian Cage don’t decide when it’s over between them. He has a challenge regarding Full Gear for the both of them, but wants to do it face to face on Rampage.

Jon Moxley In-Ring Promo

Moxley came to the ring with Lord William Regal and said he met Regal when he was 25 and full of piss and vinegar, thinking he knew it all. Moxley wanted to be just like Regal, looking for his respect, he picked a fight with Regal, who tortured Moxley. It allowed Moxley to work harder and came back to get his revenge, knocking Regal’s head off with a knee, referencing their feud in FCW. He said this reminds him of young MJF, who he fought in 2020, beat him and now MJF wants his revenge.

Moxley said MJF puts on the image of tough guy pro wrestler, when his mother buys his clothes at JCPenney’s. MJF calls himself a pillar, when he doesn’t know what it’s like to have to carry anything on his back. MJF also calls himself the devil, but Moxley said he’s seen the devil and MJF is not it. Moxley said he wants to know what MJF is made of and at Full Gear, he’s going to find out. Everything MJF has done up to this point has been easy.

-Another video package about the disappearance of The Elite is aired, this time with more highlights of their careers across the globe (including photos of them with Adam Cole, Cody, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn & Finn Balor) while the Full Gear design is shown along with a ticking clock.

**********

-Quick video package about Bryan Danielson & Sammy Guevara and their 2 out of 3 Falls main event is shown. Danielson said all the disrespect he’s endured in the past month is going to result in him taking out his frustrations by kicking Guevara’s head in.

Jamie Hayter (w/Rebel & Dr. Britt Baker) defeated Skye Blue (w/AEW Interim Women’s Champion Toni Storm)

(A majority of this match took place during commercial, but Blue had her hope spots before being absolutely steamrolled by the Hayter lariat. Hayter has been built up into an excellent challenger for Toni Storm, in what should be an great match come Full Gear.)

Blue showed off an aggressive side early on, taking the fight to Hayter to the floor and cazadora into an arm drag back in the ring. Baker tripped up Blue, which allowed Hayter to hit a back breaker into an Exploder suplex. Hayter controlled the entire commercial break, but when they returned, Blue took out Rebel & Baker with kicks from the apron and top rope cross body on Hayter for two.

Hayter reversed Blue’s finisher, but Blue dropped Hayter in with a spin kick and snazzy Code Red for a close near fall. Blue took far too long to capitalize and Hayter starched her with a forearm. Blue hit a superkick, but Hayter responded with a big boot of her own. Blue tried a victory roll into another cazadora, but Hayter countered into the ripcord lariat for the win. Post match, Hayter went to put the boots to Blue, but Storm chased her off.

-Video package on Brian Cage & Dante Martin is shown, highlighting their Title Eliminator match on Rampage this Friday.

-Backstage, Alex Marvez is hoping to interview Ricky Starks about the Title Eliminator Tournament, when he literally turns his head and Lance Archer has Starks by the neck and slammed him in the steel door. Archer said everybody dies and Marvez yelled for help. I mean, how did you not see that large man standing two feet from you, Alex?

Two out of Three Falls: Bryan Danielson defeated Sammy Guevara (w/Tay Melo) 2-1

(An excellent main event, as after the first two falls, they really kicked things into gear with Guevara having some very close near falls to make you think he might’ve possibly won this. I liked this one more than their last match a few weeks ago.)

Danielson wasted no time lighting Guevara up with strikes and top rope dropkick that sent Guevara to the floor by his wife, who blocked Danielson from doing a dive. Danielson moved her out of the way, which allowed Guevara to chuck a chair at the face of Danielson right in front of referee Bryce to get intentionally disqualified. Guevara continued his assault with the microphone into the eye of Danielson as we went to commercial break with Danielson up 1-0.

Back from break, Danielson is bleeding from around the left eye, as commentary talks about how Guevara gave up a fall to potentially get two quick falls of his own, as he hit a pump knee and GTH to tie it up at 1-1. Guevara lit up Danielson with strikes, tried a Spanish Fly off the top, despite slipping initially, but Danielson threw him off. Danielson looked for a top rope headbutt, but it was a terrible idea, as he landed right on his face. Guevara applied the LeBell Lock, but Danielson got a rope break. Despite the initial headbutt not working, Danielson fired up with more headbutts and wiped out Guevara off a springboard attempt into Busaiku Knee.

Guevara went outside where Danielson hit a charging knee off the apron, hit a few kicks, but Guevara turned it around and hit a charging dropkick right to the face. Back in the ring, a little miscommunication briefly led to both men colliding, Danielson rolling to a cover, but Melo pulled the ref out, thus getting ejected for her efforts and ridiculous overacting. Forearm battle commenced in the ring and Danielson suplexed Guevara in the corner. Danielson went for a superplex, but Guevara hit a charging knee that sent Danielson to the floor and Guevara hit a huge Shooting Star Press. Excalibur made a “Thunderbird” Brett Como reference here that blew away commentary.

Guevara tried his double jump cutter, but landed right into the cross arm breaker, which Danielson transitioned into the LeBell Lock as the crowd exploded. Guevara got a rope break, tried for another GTH, but Danielson countered into a really nice Poison Rana. Guevara countered a Busaiku Knee into the Walls of Jericho, but Danielson got a rope break. GTH missed again, this time Danielson hit the Busaiku Knee. Knuckle lock led to Guevara hitting a moonsault DDT, but went for a Swanton and Danielson got the knees up. Anvil elbows led to the LeBell Lock, Guevara refused to tap initially, so Danielson cranked the arm and Guevara verbally submitted.

AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz as they run down tonight’s card.

Jay Lethal defeated Darby Allin

What started as a fun opener ended up being straight out of an episode of Nitro, which I’m not sure is necessarily a good thing. Even Tony Schiavone was questioning whether it was the real Sting. I’m not sure why Jeff Jarrett needs to be in AEW, but he is and he’s with Lethal and his crew. Despite the crowd giving Cole Karter crickets, it was all a ruse, as the main surprise was Jarrett, who got booed, despite struggling at his promo when he started.

Allin has his ribs taped due to the attack a few weeks ago. Lethal, who promised to have backup in the form of someone from Allin’s past, came to the ring alone, but Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh quickly made their way out. Despite an early attack by Allin, Lethal hit a monkey flip on the floor that sent Allin ribs first into the steps outside. Similar to a few weeks ago, Lethal applied the Figure Four with Allin trapped under something, this week being the guard rail. Lethal hit a release German suplex on the apron, focused on the ribs and controlled the action throughout the entire picture in picture

Almost immediately back from commercial, Allin hit a springboard coffin drop, but the ribs were worked over too much as Lethal regained control. Allin countered a top rope elbow into a crucifix for two, avoided Lethal Injection into a rear naked choke and hit an over the top stunner. Lethal bailed outside, where Allin tried a dive through the ropes, but bounced off Singh like he was a rubber ball. The ref kicked Dutt & Singh out, but someone wearing a Sting coat took out Allin with a baseball bat to the ribs. Back in the ring, Lethal hit the Lethal Injection for the victory.

The masked man was revealed to be Cole Karter from The Factory to absolute crickets from the crowd. Sting’s entrance music hit, as Lethal and company watched at the stage. Jeff Jarrett came in behind Allin and laid him out with a guitar. Jarrett told him he just learned a lesson from The Last Outlaw. He said Sting has become Allin’s biggest weakness. Jarrett said he has a message for the delusional AEW fan base. Jarrett ran down his resume to the tune of You Still Suck chants from the crowd, as he called fans Slap Nuts.

-Jon Moxley cut a quick promo backstage on Lee Moriarty and why he’s a credible opponent for him tonight. He said Bryan Danielson & himself thought Moriarty was lacking the toughness to run with them, but they haven’t written him off yet. Tonight, Moriarty is going to have to dig down deep, Moxley wants him to be violent.

-A video of The Elite winning the Trios Titles is shown, but quickly deleted and Death Triangle’s win is shown instead. The graphic of Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks on the AEW advertisement is replaced with Death Triangle.

**********

Jon Moxley w/Lord William Regal submitted Lee Moriarty w/Stokely Hathaway in an AEW World Title Eliminator

During the match, the crowd was distracted by something and chanted MVP, which Taz informed us was Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens walking to his seats with his entourage. That unfortunately felt like it took the crowd out of this, which was a good, albeit brief match with Moriarty & Moxley. It was your standard TV match with Moriarty taking the entire commercial, Moxley mounting a comeback when they returned and a nice back and forth finish.

Ethan Page joined commentary, as Moxley & Moriarty started on the ground, but quickly turned to strikes. Moxley grounded Moriarty off a neck chancery suplex, but Moriarty got a cheap shot, posted Moxley and zoned in on the left arm during the entire break.

Moxley hit a suplex, but Moriarty responded with a Northern Lights suplex variation for a near fall. Moriarty trash talked the World Champion and tried for the stomp down with boots, but Moxley turned the tide with a lariat and stomps of his own. Moriarty avoided Death Rider by going back to the arm, but Moxley responded with a Cutter. Both men no sold suplexes, traded submission attempts, but Moriarty got the Border City Stretch. Moxley escaped, dropped down anvil elbows and sank in the cross arm breaker for the submission.

Page hit the ring and laid out Moxley post match, as Excalibur put over Page being in the Title Eliminator Tournament which will culminate at Full Gear, as Schiavone told us more names will be announced on Rampage.

-Renee Paquette was supposed to have a face to face with Saraya & Britt Baker, but Baker never showed up. Saraya said Baker doesn’t care about anyone in the women’s division but herself. Saraya has built divisions everywhere she’s gone; even wrestling the same day she got hit by a car. Saraya said she’s in AEW because it’s something she needed to be a part of. Renee asked if she’s medically cleared and Saraya said she’s going to wait to answer that until next week, she has one Doctor left to consult about it.

**********

-Lamar Jackson is officially shown ringside, as Excalibur sent it backstage to Tony Schiavone with Lord William Regal, who cut a quick promo on MJF about the main event of Full Gear. Regal said all the potential in the world won’t help MJF when he has to face a real demon in Jon Moxley

Daddy Ass’s Birthday Bash

This continues to be such a crazy storyline with the scissoring, but if you don’t think those foam scissor fingers is going to sell like hot cakes, you’re out of your mind. While FTR didn’t do much in this segment, it came off like despite not being next for The Acclaimed, they’re going to be getting their title shot sooner rather than later.

The Acclaimed came out to celebrate Billy Gunn’s birthday, as Max Caster started with a rap complete with Elon Musk reference. Anthony Bowens said scissoring has taken over the world, even in the World Series and scissored with the camera man. Caster introduced the scissoring foam fingers. Gunn put the foam scissors on his broken fingers, so he’s still able to scissor. Caster went into the crowd and got a scissor sign for Gunn. Caster also presented Gunn a trophy for World’s Greatest Daddy. Bowens said he had guests booked, but two cancelled, while the others were upset he didn’t come to the reunion, which got a huge pop from the crowd, even Taz. Bowens presented Gunn with a certificate with their signatures already on it for adoption; all that’s needed is Gunn’s signature.

Colten & Austin interrupted and asked where their invitation was and said they brought them a gift. W. Morrissey showed up and laid out Gunn with a big boot and The Firm put the beat down on The Acclaimed & Gunn. FTR hit the ring, as the Gunn Club & Morrissey bailed with FTR holding up the Tag Team titles before handing them to The Acclaimed for a tense moment.

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter. Baker said she’s doing the interview on her time, with her own interviewer. Hayter is sick of the conspiracies and wants to wrestle, Baker agrees and said they demand a tag match against any two ladies on Rampage.

-Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia & Jake Hager came to the ring ahead of Jericho’s ROH Open Challenge. He said he’s challenged any former champion of any kind, even saying he’d kick Lamar Jackson’s ass, which got a huge reaction.

Chris Jericho w/Daniel Garcia & Jake Hager defeated Colt Cabana to retain the ROH World Title

Happy to see Cabana back in the fold, as he got a loud reaction, had a different attitude in this one and took this far more seriously. Much like the Moriarty & Moxley match, it felt like this match suffered due to the commercial break, as I wish this had more time. I’m just happy Cabana has returned.

Loud welcome back chants for Cabana, as Ian Riccaboni has joined commentary and said he was about to start chanting as well. A much more serious demeanor for Cabana, who unloaded strikes on Jericho, as Excalibur called him Marcia Cabana’s baby boy. Jericho bailed to the floor to regroup, but Cabana quickly cut him off in the ropes, tried a Chicago Skyline, but both he & Jericho tumbled to the floor.

Jericho controlled the action throughout the break, but Cabana immediately mounted a comeback with a flying apple and strikes. Cabana got a near fall off a corner splash, went for a moonsault, but got crotched. Cabana reversed an electric chair into a victory roll for two, as Jericho tried a counter into the Walls of Jericho, but Cabana got free. Jericho got an eye poke out of the flip, flop, fly, but Cabana avoided Judas Effect and sank in the Billy Goat’s Curse on this, the anniversary of the Cubs winning the World Series.

Jericho kicked free, but Cabana got his Superman pin, only for Hager to pull his hands out from under him. Cabana responded hitting a huge moonsault to the floor to wipe out Garcia & Hager. Cabana hit another flying apple, went for a charge, but ran into a Code Breaker to give Jericho the win.

Post match, Jericho, Garcia & Hager walked up the ramp and went after Ian Riccaboni, who was being held by Matt Menard & Angelo Parker. Blackpool Combat Club made the save and we had a huge brawl with Jericho & Claudio having the most notable face off.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Death Triangle, as Rey Fenix said he’s ready to become the new All-Atlantic champion. PAC said he knows something about being double champion, but if Fenix wants revenge, he’ll take the hammer from PAC, which is a golden ticket. PAC told Fenix to think about it and walked away.

Orange Cassidy defeated Luchasaurus w/Christian Cage & Rey Fenix w/Alex Abrahantes to retain the AEW All-Atlantic Title

This was a flat out fun triple threat and while I was expecting a Jack Perry involvement somehow, which we got, I certainly wasn’t expecting the return of Katsuyori Shibata. Let alone a match between him & Orange Cassidy announced for Friday on Rampage. If you told me we were getting that match on a show where Mike Tyson will be doing commentary, I’d think you were nuts.

Fenix & Cassidy wisely tried the numbers game early on Luchasaurus, who ate a barrage of offense that sent him to the outside. Cassidy tried his little kicks on Fenix, hit a snazzy arm drag, but ate a springboard kick to the face in return. Multiple revolutions in a Tornado DDT from Cassidy, who tried to put his hands in his pockets, as Luchasaurus rose and took both men out to take control into picture in picture.

Christian joined commentary during break, as Cassidy tried a Stundog Millionaire and hit an Orange Punch that sent Luchasaurus to the floor. Cassidy & Fenix were going to fight each other, but opted for a double dive instead. Luchasaurus caught both men, sent Cassidy into the ring steps and choke slammed Fenix through the ring attendant table. Cassidy was booted up the ramp, as Excalibur reminded us in a triple threat, there’s no DQs or count-outs.

Luchasaurus was about to choke slam Cassidy off the stage until Jungle Boy Jack Perry smacked him in the back with a chair. After a running start, Perry cross body blocked Luchasaurus off the stage through a table. PAC hit ringside, tried to give the hammer to Fenix, but Fenix threw it away. Fenix took too much time, as after a trading of near falls, Fenix went for a somersault, but leapt right into an Orange Punch to allow Cassidy to retain.

Post match, PAC immediately attacked Cassidy, grabbed the hammer and was about to attack before Katsuyori Shibata made his return to AEW to a loud ovation, as he’s joined by Best Friends. PAC quickly bailed, as Shibata pointed to the open contract for the All-Atlantic title on Rampage, Cassidy nodded, handed Shibata a pen and it’s official for Rampage, Shibata vs. Orange Cassidy, I can’t believe I’m typing that, that’s fantastic and very unexpected.

-Backstage Tony Schiavone is with Swerve Strickland and famed rapper Rick Ross, who said he’s here for one reason, to make sure Swerve is the biggest in the industry and in rap. Keith Lee walks in and said he hasn’t heard from Swerve all week. They’re number one contenders, but wants to know who was holding the camera when he assaulted Billy Gunn. Rick Ross said those are just accusations. Swerve said how about next week an 8 man tag with them & Gunn Club against FTR & The Acclaimed. Keith Lee reluctantly accepted.

Jade Cargill w/Leila Gray defeated Marina Shafir to retain the AEW TBS Title

This was brutal, that’s really all I can say.

We’re shown a tweet from rapper Bow Wow shooting his shot with Jade Cargill on Twitter this past week and it not going very well. I’d be remiss to mention Bow Wow was also mentioned in this week’s episode of Hey!(EW) with RJ City, so give that a watch. Right as the bell rang, Nyla Rose walked out with the TBS Title to do her own commentary with Vickie Guerrero.

The screeching of Vickie & Nyla caused Taz to inform the commentators they’re jobs are safe. Shafir took the fight to Cargill on the floor briefly until Cargill quickly got the advantage. Cargill was almost counted out being distracted, as Shafir nearly got a knee bar, but Cargill got free and hit a pump kick. A pissed off Cargill flattened Shafir with Jaded for the quick win. Kiera Hogan tried to sneak attack Rose to get the TBS title, but was flattened, as Rose took off.

-A video package on the House of Black is shown, with Julia Hart seemingly tying up Malakai Black & Brody King and being sent out to sea and ultimately buried. We hear the words “All must end so all must suffer anew” before the screen goes black and Malakai’s voice is heard saying “father of the black light, giver of the sight that takes, giver of the sight that creates, forgive me not father, forgive me now mother” as a hand shoots up from the grave and flashes to Black’s face.

**********

-It has been made official for Full Gear as Toni Storm defends the AEW Interim Women’s Title against Jamie Hayter, as they cut to a video package on the history between these two.

Samoa Joe submitted Brian Cage w/Prince Nana to retain the ROH Television Title

This was a solid hoss main event with Cage getting a lot of the offense in this one, as I was surprised how little Joe got in. They’ve done a great job inserting Hobbs into the picture as a next threat for Wardlow, as Hobbs vs. Joe or Hobbs vs. Wardlow would be more than fine in my book.

Taz reminded us that he has managed both of these men in his career, as I completely had forgotten Taz managed Joe in TNA. Joe mowed down Cage early on, Cage turned the tide, only to play to the crowd too long to allow Joe to take over with a nice enzugiri in the corner. Nana ran distraction momentarily to let Cage hit a standing dropkick and put the boots to Joe. Excalibur questioned whether Cage should trade strikes with Joe, as Taz let us know Joe kicks like the dickens. Cage hit a corner enzugiri of his own and standing German suplex that dropped Joe right on his shoulder.

Cage worked a long chin lock during the break, but as soon as they returned, Cage hit a perfect somersault dive over the top. Cage posed for the crowd, which let Joe answer with a Manhattan Drop, charging boot and senton for two. A snap powerslam got Joe another near fall, but Cage spun out of a powerbomb, sent Joe in the ropes and hit a Tiger Feint Kick. Cage went up top for a twisting elbow for a close two. Cage came within inches of dropping Joe on his head off a pump handle driver, but Joe luckily landed on his face. Cage hit an Angle Slam and discus lariat for another near fall. Joe tried the rear naked choke, Cage tried to counter into another slam, but Joe switched arms quick and got the rear naked choke for the submission.

Post match, the Gates of Agony hit the ring to beat up Joe until Wardlow made the save, chasing off The Embassy. He stared them down until Powerhouse Hobbs snuck up from behind and laid out Wardlow with a spinebuster. Hobbs held up the TNT title and made another statement to end show, just like he did on Rampage this past week.

AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us alongside Tony Schiavone & Taz, running down the card for tonight’s show.

Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta defeated ROH World Champion Chris Jericho & ROH Pure Champion Daniel Garcia (w/ Matt Menard, Angelo Parker & Jake Hager)

Lord William Regal joined commentary and compared Excalibur to a crème brulee to keep up the tradition of making Taz feel uncomfortable. The crowd was loudly behind Yuta, who, along with Castagnoli, delivered double anvil elbows to Jericho & Garcia, who were saved by Menard & Parker, who pulled their buddies outside. Back inside, Garcia remained isolated until he kicked free from a giant swing to make the tag to Jericho.

Castagnoli was tripped by Hager right in front of referee Aubrey, who did nothing about it, as Jericho hit a springboard dropkick that sent Castagnoli to the floor. Hager briefly continued his assault on Castagnoli before Jericho took control the entire break, isolating the former ROH Champion. Garcia tried a sleeper, but Castagnoli countered into a suplex and countered a charging Jericho with a pop up uppercut.

Yuta made the hot tag and ran wild sending Garcia to the floor and flattening Jericho with a huge splash and Angle Slam for a near fall. Castagnoli & Yuta used great teamwork until Jericho countered a Castanoli springboard uppercut into a Code Breaker. Yuta wiped out Garcia, Parker & Menard on the floor, as Jericho tried to use Floyd the bat, but was powerbombed by Castagnoli. Jericho was hit with a giant swing while Garcia was in a fireman’s carry position on Castagnoli in an amazing spot. Castagnoli ran wild on everyone outside with uppercuts and finally put away Jericho with a top rope uppercut to pin the ROH Champion clean in a very fun opener.

-Backstage Renee Paquette is with Bryan Danielson who said he is frustrated he lost to Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia turned on him and Wheeler Yuta talked back to him last week. He realizes people hate Sammy Guevara and he’s going to take all his frustrations out on him tonight. Wheeler Yuta interrupted and said he’s not a kid, he’s a grown ass man, as they started shoving, with Claudio playing peacemaker. Claudio said after Danielson beats Guevara, they will sit down and hash things out like gentlemen.

-There was a video package of highlights of The Elite in AEW with them vanishing after each shot. So it’s only a matter of time before they return to action.

**********

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with the entire Jericho Appreciation Society, who was screaming about their loss. Jericho said he issues an open challenge to any former ROH World Champion next week. Guevara said he’ll beat Bryan Danielson because he’s that damn good. The audio was shaky here, but Jericho blamed Claudio for bringing the bat into the ring, resulting in their loss.

Swerve in Our Glory (Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee) defeated AAA, IWGP & ROH Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) to become #1 Contender’s for the AEW Tag Team Championship

Gunn Club is ringside dressed as FTR, mocking them like they’ve been doing in recent weeks, while The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass are seated up at the ramp. Swerve got taken down early by FTR, so he scrambled to tag Lee, who used his size to avoid a Big Rig. An amazing double leapfrog, drop down, double cross body by Lee on both FTR took us into commercial.

I feel bad for Wheeler, who took Keith Lee corner chops, but the viewers at home couldn’t hear the echo they usually have since they were in picture in picture. Wheeler tried a sunset flip, but Lee powered him up into a double overhand chop that crumbled him. Wheeler dodged a Lee splash and backdropped Swerve to make the hot tag to Harwood, who dished out a crazy amount of payback chops on Swerve & Lee.

Lee was sent to the floor, as Swerve & Harwood traded near falls. Swerve slipped off the ropes, but quickly recovered; hit a cross body and Harwood rolled through for a two count. Swerve was ping ponged with a powerbomb into a bridging German suplex by Wheeler for a near fall. Wheeler shot off a series of uppercuts until Swerve vaulted off Harwood, tagged Lee, as they hit a double team on Wheeler and took out Harwood outside. Electric Chair into a powerbomb by Lee & Swerve, but Wheeler kicked out at two.

Wheeler avoided the powerbomb into Swerve Stomp, as Harwood ultimately planted Swerve with a bounce back powerbomb of his own. Wheeler was dropped with a stiff headbutt, as Lee collapsed onto him for a close two. Lee was cut off in the corner by Harwood, who hit a massive superplex, but Wheeler didn’t hit all of the top rope splash, so Lee kicked out of the Power-Plex. Swerve stopped a Big Rig attempt, Wheeler cut off a an assisted powerbomb and FTR hit Big Rig on Lee, but Swerve pulled Harwood out at two.

Swerve sent Wheeler into the Gunn Club ringside, as Harwood rolled up Lee, who kicked out, but as Harwood went into the ropes, Swerve hit a low blow with the ref turned to Lee. The Gunn Club were holding back Wheeler, as Lee put away Harwood with the Ground Zero to win it. Post match, Gunn Club beat down FTR and The Acclaimed made the save. This turned into a really good match, but the finish made the ref look like an idiot, which is something I thought AEW was trying not to do so often.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Saraya and got out at about two sentences until Britt Baker interrupted and Renee had to put a stop to the scuffle, as Baker just stormed off as quickly as she stormed in.

**********

-Renee Paquette is at the entrance ramp and introduced MJF to a loud ovation. MJF said the devil has arrived and when asked by Renee how he feels if Jon Moxley defends his title tonight against Pentagon. MJF mocks Moxley’s walk and talk, calls him mid and tells Renee to shut her mouth when she said he can’t say stuff like that. MJF said he got a little ahead of himself saying he’d wrestle the entire title match clean, he’s still MJF. He made a promise that he won’t use his Dynamite Diamond ring at Full Gear. He’s fighting everyone who said he wasn’t good enough at Full Gear and will shove it down all their throats when he becomes AEW World Champion. MJF was going to say his tagline until Stokely Hathaway interrupted, but the microphone was slapped out of his hand by MJF. He said if Moxley gets passed Pentagon tonight, The Firm isn’t to lay a hand on him ahead of Full Gear, if they do, Stokely is fired. MJF hit his catchphrase and the crowd chanted along with him.

-Video package is shown promoting Matt Taven vs. Wardlow for the TNT title this Friday on Rampage.

Bryan Danielson defeated Sammy Guevara w/Tay Melo

Lord Regal joins commentary again, as Guevara started quickly with strikes in the corner and double jump cutter for an early two count. Guevara flipped out of a German suplex, did a few leap frogs, but tried one too many and Danielson sank in a Romero Special. Danielson let it go and opted to just pour down strikes. Guevara tried forearms, but Danielson leaned into all of them to absorb each one. While Danielson was wrenching at the wrist of Guevara, Excalibur informed us that Hangman Page is doing better following last week’s injury and will be back as quickly as possible.

Danielson sent Guevara outside, hit a baseball slide, but as he went for a running knee off the apron, Guevara hit a jump knee and huge springboard moonsault off the top to the floor. Guevara kept Danielson grounded during the entire commercial, with Tay Melo even getting in a shot for good measure. Guevara foolishly went for Yes Kicks and just woke up Danielson, who slapped the taste out of Guevara. Danielson did his moonsault out of the corner and charging clothesline.

Danielson backdropped Guevara to the floor and took him out with a dive through the ropes. Shotgun dropkick back inside, but Guevara countered a home run kick into a standing Spanish Fly for two. Guevara took too long on the top, got crotched, but flipped out of a back superplex on his feet. Guevara tried a standing shooting star, but landed right into the LeBell Lock. Danielson went up top, but Guevara popped up for a Spanish Fly for two. Guevara went for GTH, but Danielson countered into a Poison Rana and Busaiku Knee. Danielson poured down stomps onto the face, sank in a triangle choke with elbows delivered as Guevara went out. I enjoyed this match quite a bit, as Guevara had his hope spots, but Blackpool Combat Club go to 2-0 on the night so far.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with Rey Fenix & Alex Abrahantes. They said tonight, Pentagon will be double champion, as Abrahantes said Fenix should become the next All-Atlantic champion. Christian & Luchasaurus interrupt and said his right hand of destruction deserves a shot. Orange Cassidy saunters in and said next week, let’s do this. So I guess he accepted both man’s challenge.

**********

Jamie Hayter w/Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. & Rebel defeated Riho

Dueling chants from the crowd, as it was the strength of Hayter vs. the speed of Riho early, as Riho low bridged Hayter and hit a top rope cross body outside, the same thing that happened last week during Riho’s return. Hayter quickly recovered and drove Riho into the side of the ring and guard rail. Hayter hit a series of spinning snap suplexes in the ring and was just manhandling her into picture in picture.

Hayter took the ref, while Baker got in her shots and trash talked Riho on the floor. Back inside, Riho cartwheeled into a dropkick, did a cazadora into a double stomp, which Taz said looked like it hurt like the dickens. Rebel ate a forearm off the apron, but Hayter blocked a Tiger Feint Kick, tried a suplex into the ring, which Riho countered into a Northern Lights for two. Hayter rolled through a top rope cross body into a brainbuster for a very close near fall.

Riho floated over a back suplex into a cross body and popped off a hurricanrana off the second. Baker tripped up Riho with the referee turned, which was enough for Hayter to block a sunset flip, but Riho flew up into a Code Red for two in a really cool moment. Riho missed a top rope double stomp and ran right into a backbreaker from Hayter. Riho spun out of a ripcord into a Dragon Suplex for another close two. Riho again rolled through a ripcord into a roll up, but Hayter popped up, flattened Riho and the third attempt at the ripcord lariat connected to give Riho the win. This was another fun match, but I don’t think the ref distraction again was necessary in yet another match.

Post match, Toni Storm came to the stage, held up her Interim AEW Women’s title and stared down Jamie Hayter, as Britt Baker couldn’t help but look on interested as well.

– Backstage, Renee Paquette, making her fifth appearance tonight, is with Eddie Kingston, asking him about his behavior as of late. Kingston talked through his Colgate smile saying everything is great, but wants to talk about Moxley. Kingston said Pentagon might be his boy, but he thinks Moxley takes this tonight. He shoots another fake smile and then glares at the camera.

Jon Moxley defeated Penta El Zero Miedo w/Alex Abrahantes to retain the AEW World Championship

Excalibur mentioned Penta’s amazing Triplemania mask vs. mask match with Villano IV and said everything Penta put on the line for that showdown. Both men teed off on each other with chops and forearms early until both spun out of the other’s finisher attempts. Penta put a stop to a charging Moxley to do his pose, which Moxley answered by flipping him off. Moxley was sent outside, where Penta hit a somersault dive.

Penta controlled most of the picture in picture, repeatedly slamming Moxley’s head into the steps, while breaking the count. Penta took off his glove to chop Moxley against the post, but Moxley moved and Penta smacked the steel to allow Moxley to take over. That lasted all 5 seconds, as Penta hit a backstabber in the ring for two. Moxley hit a release overhead suplex into the corner off a charging Penta for the double down.

Moxley went for the mask, but both traded boots, resulting in a Penta sling blade. Moxley avoided Fear Factory into a desperation cutter and piledriver for two. Moxley poured down anvil elbows, as Penta escaped a bulldog choke and snapped Moxley’s arm back violently for a near fall. Both men fought to the side of the apron, Penta nearly hit a Destroyer on the steps, which Moxley countered into a DDT. Back in the ring, a King Kong lariat from Moxley got another two.

Penta fought out of the corner, superkicked the leg out from Moxley and hit a double stomp off the top into the Fear Factory for a super close near fall. Penta opted for the pose, as he tried a springboard, but fell into a Paradigm Shift, then Death Rider for the victory in a very good main event.

Post match, The Firm hit the ring, as W. Morrissey, The Gunn’s, Ethan Page & Lee Moriarty laid out Moxley, while Stokely Hathaway walked to the ring. Security ran out and were beaten down by The Firm too, as Alex Marvez is shown backstage at the Blackpool Combat Club locker room, where they are locked inside. Moxley made a brief comeback, but the numbers were too much. MJF hit the ring, told Stokely he was fired and The Firm laid him out as well. Page hit an Ego’s Edge, while Morrissey hit a choke slam through the ring attendant table. The Firm stand tall over both competitors in the Full Gear main event to end the show. I’m very intrigued if this is all in the plan of MJF to make people believe he’s actually fired The Firm, I mean, the man calls himself The Devil, so you can’t help but be skeptical.

Final Thoughts

This was a very enjoyable episode of Dynamite, with the wrestling action itself being really good tonight. The opener pretty much set the stage for Claudio getting a rematch with Jericho, while I assume Yuta is in line potentially for Garcia again as well. The seeds continued to be planted for Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm, while Swerve in Our Glory get their rubber match with The Acclaimed. I thought Guevara & Danielson and Moxley vs. Penta were excellent and the best on the show, which should surprise no one. My biggest complaint is the amount of times referee’s are distracted or just are oblivious to outside interference. They made a big deal about Paul Turner cracking down a few weeks ago and it seems like it just went out the window.

Friday’s updated AEW Rampage lineup:

  • Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta vs. Matt Menard & Angelo Parker
  • Madison Rayne vs. Tay Melo
  • Wardlow defends the TNT Title against Matt Taven

Next week’s Dynamite:

  • Darby Allin vs. Jay Lethal, as a video was shown of Darby saying Sting hasn’t been around for a while because Darby said he had to do things on his own. Darby said Lethal had a friend that knew his weakness, so he told Lethal to bring him. Lethal & Dutt said to be careful what he asked for because he just might get it.
  • The Daddy Ass Birthday Bash
  • Orange Cassidy defends the All-Atlantic Title against Luchasaurus and Rey Fenix
  • Renee Paquette has a sit down interview with Saraya & Dr. Britt Baker
  • Chris Jericho defends the ROH World Title against a former ROH World Champion in an open challenge

AEW Dynamite live results: Title Tuesday

Four titles will be on the line on a special Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite.

In his hometown of Cincinnati, Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against Hangman Page. Page won a Golden Ticket Battle Royale on Rampage Grand Slam last month to earn the title shot.

Interim AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm will defend her title against Hikaru Shida. The two teamed on last week’s show against Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter in a victorious effort.

The Ring of Honor World Championship will be on the line, as Chris Jericho defends against former title holder Dalton Castle.

The AEW World Trios Championship will be up for grabs, with PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo, and Rey Fenix of Death Triangle defending against Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, and Chuck Taylor of Best Friends.

A Renee Paquette sit-down interview with Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta, a Tony Schiavone interview with William Regal, and a promo by MJF have also been advertised for the show.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

AEW Tuesday Night Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us to Title Tuesday, as he ran down the card briefly before getting right to our opening contest with Tony Schiavone & Taz on commentary.

Death Triangle (Penta El Zero Miedo, Rey Fenix & PAC) w/Alex Abrahantes defeated Best Friends (Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta & AEW All-Atlantic Champion Orange Cassidy) to retain the AEW World Trios Championship

PAC immediately kicked Cassidy off the apron at the bell for revenge from last week, as he & Trent had a fast opening sequence to pick up where they left off at Battle of the Belts. Action was fast and furious out the gate with Taylor & Trent hitting their assisted Razor’s Edge into a powerbomb, but Death Triangle quickly regained control with dives to the floor. Cassidy found himself isolated in the corner until it led to a huge Tower of Doom moment where everyone was down.

PAC trash talked Cassidy and hit a series of kicks until Cassidy popped off a Stundog Millionaire. This led to a series of high impact moves from each man culminating in a Trent Tornado DDT onto Fenix. Cassidy tried a double hurricanrana on Fenix & Penta, who held on and PAC hit a low dropkick. Cazadora, lungblower, double stomp combo on Cassidy got a two as Taylor made the save. Taylor & Trent saved their partner from PAC’s Black Arrow and hit a Sole Food release German suplex combo.

Taylor & Trent connected with multiple piledrivers, as Cassidy did the assisted splash on PAC for two. Penta & Fenix saved their partner, as PAC went for the hammer yet again, but this time, Fenix stopped him from using it, since it blew up in his face last week and he lost his All-Atlantic Title. Cassidy fired off an Orange Punch on PAC, but as Penta went for a step up destroyer, Trent blocked and Strong Zero hit for two. Fenix made the save and would put Trent away with a sit out driver to retain the titles.

Post match, Fenix & PAC got into a brief scuffle about PAC wanting to use the hammer again, but it was quickly squashed as Death Triangle held their titles high after a crazy action packed opening contest.

-Video package of Jon Moxley & Hangman Page is shown, with footage from last year of Page knocking Moxley off the ladder in the Casino Ladder Match as Page said Mox broke first, not him, as mentioned last week in Page’s fantastic promo.

**********

-Tony Schiavone is backstage with interested parties in the AEW Interim Women’s Title match tonight, that being Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter with Rebel. They said one of them will be the Women’s World champion, as Toni Time is over.

Toni Storm defeated Hikaru Shida to retain the AEW Interim Women’s Championship

Excalibur said this singles match is 10 years in the making, as these two wrestled in a tag match in 2013 in Japan, but I think this is their first singles contest. Taz informed us this is Shida’s first title opportunity in close to 16 months. Fast paced back and forth start led to Shida connecting with a dropkick, but played to the crowd too long on the apron and Storm sent her crashing to the floor.

Storm kept Shida grounded in the ring during the entire picture in picture break, until Shida made her comeback soon after with a hurricanrana and jumping knee. Ten corner punches from Shida led to a slugfest until Shida hit an enzugiri for the double down. Storm cut off Shida from going to the top, teased an Avalanche Storm Zero that she used to defeat Serena Deeb a few weeks ago, but Shida knocked her down and hit a Meteora for two.

Storm floated over a Falcon Arrow, avoided a step up kick and hit a release German suplex and Sweet Cheek Music in the corner. Shida blocked a Tornado DDT with sort of a Falcon Arrow for a close near fall. Storm blocked the Kitana, but Shida nearly got the win off a close roll up. Shida escaped rolling Germans, but couldn’t avoid the snap Tornado DDT and Storm Zero to allow the champion to retain in a match I wish went longer, it just felt like it was getting going.

Post match, Jamie Hayter & Rebel, with a crutch, hit the ring for the post match beat down, as Britt Baker made her entrance rocking a Steelers jersey. Saraya’s entrance music hit and she tackled Baker on the floor and brawled into the crowd. As Hayter & Rebel continued to beat up Storm, Riho made her return and took both ladies out with a dive off the top rope. Riho got a huge reaction from the fans, as Storm has found backup in her battle with Baker, Hayter & Rebel and perhaps found a new challenger for her title at the same time.

-Video package highlighting The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Mike Bennett & Maria Kanellis) debuting on Rampage last week, while we heard words from Wardlow & Samoa Joe about making the wrong decision, so expect that match to happen soon.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with FTR, ran down their resume from this past year and asks if there’s more hardware they want to add to their collection? Harwood listed their challengers for the titles they hold, but ultimately want the AEW Tag Titles. They are interrupted by Swerve in Our Glory saying FTR put their priorities ahead of AEW for too long. Next week FTR vs. Swerve in Our Glory with the winners getting the next AEW Tag Team Title shot was made.

**********

-Alex Marvez is backstage with Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt & Darby Allin, as Lethal wanted a rematch and Allin said he would beat him again and again. Dutt said they were in contact with someone who knows Allin’s weakness and they know what it is. Lethal & Dutt beat up Allin, trapping him under a steel door, as Lethal put the Figure Four on him at the same time. Security broke things up as Lethal & Dutt took off.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring with Lord William Regal, who got out two words until MJF interrupted and came to the ring as Regal took out his brass knuckles, but MJF told him to put them away, as he owes MJF time to tell his story.

When MJF was 19 training, he was informed by his trainers he got WWE extra work at the Barclays Center. The extras were introduced to Regal and had tryout matches in front of him, while guys like Arn Anderson, Dean Malenko, Adam Pearce & William Regal looked on. He said Regal pulled him aside to a separate room and told him he had 3 minutes to sell himself to Regal, whose jaw hit the floor after what he heard. MJF said Regal promised him a job, but it never happened when Regal found out he was 19, telling him he was too young.

The crowd made a You F’d Up chant discovering this, as MJF said Regal told him names of guys he got hired in WWE like Claudio Castagnoli, Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley. Regal told him to keep sending him matches to review his progress the first two months, but after month three, Regal sent him a promo MJF has never forgotten saying Regal wasn’t impressed with his acting skills. MJF said Regal said he wasn’t one of the high class talents WWE wanted to look at. Regal squandered his dreams, as MJF is on the verge of tears saying that e-mail made him want to kill himself.

MJF said if he did that, all the naysayers would win, but now, in 2022, the tables have turned and Regal is an old man who got fired, while attaching to talent to get a job in AEW, while MJF is a generational talent. This amazing promo got the crowd to cheer loudly for MJF and booing Regal when he picked up the microphone.

Regal said he got into the industry when he was 16; he saw something in MJF and wanted to light a fire under him. Regal screamed at MJF saying if he held onto that e-mail for all those years, he’s had it easy. Every day you need to practice to become the best, before he was born, Regal was interviewed by Tony Schiavone, he never put his hands on someone like him. MJF let Regal down because he took shortcuts, hiring people to do his dirty work, using the diamond ring.

Regal turned his back and said if MJF wanted to be the Devil, do it right now. MJF put on the diamond ring, but couldn’t find it in himself to use it, as Regal said he still had more to prove and left. This was one of the best AEW in ring talking segments in company history in my honest opinion. Go out of your way to watch this entire segment. This was a tremendous payoff to the seeds they planted the week prior.

-A video package showcasing the Ring of Honor title match up next is shown and it’s a good quick introduction to Dalton Castle for those unfamiliar with him.

-Renee Paquette is backstage with The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn, who welcome Renee to AEW and say this Friday on Rampage its Title vs. Trademark with The Acclaimed vs. Tony Nese & Josh Woods, the Varsity Athletes. If The Acclaimed win, they get to use their scissoring antics again. I don’t understand how Woods & Nese just get a title shot while teams like FTR & Swerve in Our Glory have to earn their title matches.

**********

Earlier today we go to Renee Paquette interviewing Bryan Danielson & Wheeler Yuta, as Danielson said last week’s loss to Jericho wasn’t ideal. Danielson he still has high hopes for Daniel Garcia and said with the right guidance could be the best wrestler ever. Yuta was annoyed at this saying Garcia used him, this was something Claudio, Mox & himself saw coming from a mile away, everyone but Danielson. Yuta walked off disappointed in his wrestling hero.

Chris Jericho (w/Jake Hager) defeated Dalton Castle (w/The Boys) to retain the Ring of Honor World Championship

Ian Riccaboni joined commentary as Jericho wanted the Code of Honor, but Castle reached into his trunks and flipped him off instead. Jericho sent Castle to the floor, where he shook out the nerves, got fanned by The Boys and ran around the ring. It was mind games, as Castle rolled into the ring with multiple takedowns on Jericho. Excalibur informed us ROH Final Battle will be Saturday, December 10th, with tickets on sale November 4th. Castle took both of The Boys and hurled them onto Jake Hager before grounding Jericho into the commercial break.

Jericho took control during picture in picture, but Castle fought back, only to miss a charging knee to the floor. The Boys fanned Castle enough for him to cut off Jericho’s springboard dropkick and knocked him to the floor instead. Castle hit a low tope and head scissors, as Hager charged at Castle, but The Boys swarmed him with some very weak punches. One of The Boys took Hager’s hat, which caused Hager to hulk up and wipe them all out.

This distracted Castle momentarily, as Jericho ultimately got the Walls of Jericho on the previously broken back of Castle, who got the rope break. Riccaboni said it’s been a 4 year journey for Castle to overcome that injury, as Jericho got in the face of referee Aubrey to keep that long running bad blood going. Jericho tried a Lionsault, but Castle countered into a German suplex for two. Castle blocked a Code Breaker into the Bang-A-Rang for a close near fall. The crowd is behind the challenger, as he won a strike exchange, missed a spinning elbow and Jericho responded with a brutal Judas Effect to retain the title clean, something Ian Riccaboni put over on commentary.

Post match, the Jericho Appreciation Society came out to celebrate, as Jericho said he’s destroyed Ring of Honor champions, ring announcers and now commentators. Angelo Parker & Matt Menard went after Ian Riccaboni, dragged him to the stage, but former ROH Champion and backstage agent Jerry Lynn made the save. After a brief stare down, Jericho attacked and laid Lynn out with a Tombstone on the stage. I have no idea if Jerry Lynn will step in the ring again, but I really would love to see that match.

-In a quick video package, after putting away “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry last week, Christian Cage put champions on notice, if you have gold, Luchasaurus is coming after you.

-Backstage Jade Cargill demanded Kiera Hogan & Leila Gray tell her where her TBS title is? They said Nyla Rose isn’t here, but she’ll be at Rampage. Jade looked into the camera and told Tony Khan she’ll hijack his show for 60 minutes if Nyla doesn’t give her the TBS title back.

Jon Moxley defeated Hangman Page for the AEW World Championship due to doctor stoppage

Lord William Regal joined commentary for the main event following his explosive segment with MJF, who is shown clutching his poker chip somewhere in the crowd. Hangman Page made good on his promise after last week, saying he’d take the fight to Moxley, as he cut him off during his entrance and took him out with a massive moonsault from the crowd.

These two continued their brawl in the fans during commercial and to the surprise of no one, Jon Moxley is bleeding. The match official began, as back to the ringside area, Moxley connected with a dive through the ropes, but Page reversed a whip into the steps. Taz asked Regal for comments about what happened with MJF earlier, but Regal declined. Moxley continues to dare Page to hit him and the champ obliged, busting Moxley open up even more. Page stepped back briefly, which allowed Moxley to quickly apply a Figure Four, playing on last week’s promo on how Page’s hesitation has cost him huge in the past.

Page got a rope break, as both men traded strikes until Moxley took a hard corner buckle. Page kipped up, posed for the crowd and immediately ate a Cutter from Moxley, who poured on the offense with a superplex for two. Moxley stomped down onto the face and tried the cross arm breaker, but Page got the rope break. Camera cut up to where MJF was sitting, but he’s no longer there, as Page fought back with a Dead Eye on the apron to take over into commercial.

Page briefly had a single leg crab applied, but Moxley countered into a cross face to regain control. Moxley posted himself off a corner charge, but both men had a slugfest while up in the corner and Page hit an Avalanche Fall Away Slam for two. A series of big move counters by both led to Page hitting a lariat, but Moxley popped up and turned the challenger inside out with one of his own, but Hangman Page is clearly hurt, perhaps knocked out. The doctor jumped in the ring at the request of Paul Turner, checked Page and stopped the match quickly. The crowd was stunned and concerned, as Moxley reluctantly had his hand raised.

The camera is staying off of Hangman Page, as Regal comes to ringside to talk with Moxley, while Excalibur again runs down the Rampage & next week Dynamite cards. Commentary is left shaken, as Taz said you never want to see a competitor get injured. Jon Moxley took the microphone and said he hopes and prays Hangman Page can walk, talk and play with his child again. Moxley said you need to have guts to play this game every time out, since the Yankees game didn’t go long, they have time left, so he’s calling MJF out.

MJF storms out with referee Bryce, teased a cash in, but handed Regal the poker chip, grabbed a microphone and said he’ll cash in when Moxley is 110%, no excuses, so he’s cashing in at Full Gear. He screamed to Regal for the first time in his career, he’s going to earn it. Moxley said a bunch of curses that got censored, but said MJF will earn his boot down his throat, his head will pop like a Pez dispenser and at Full Gear, they’ll find out what MJF is made of and it’s dangerous whenever you step in the ring with Jon Moxley.

Final Thoughts

This was shaping up to be one of the best Dynamite’s in a very long time until the injury to Hangman Page cut the main event short. Which, if this is storyline and a way to not have Page take another title loss, then it was masterful acting by all involved, but if not, I really hope Hangman Page is able to recover, as he was motionless when the referee & doctor checked on him. Prior to that, the story Moxley & Page told during the main event was excellent, especially after the incredible promo by Page last week about how his hesitancy had cost him in the past and there were moments like that tonight. The Regal & MJF interaction tonight was next level fantastic, Jericho’s continuation of tearing apart ROH was great with the attack on Jerry Lynn, Shida & Storm I wish went longer but was very solid and the opening tag match was action packed.

AEW Dynamite live results: Jericho vs. Danielson ROH title match

AEW makes their Canadian debut tonight in Toronto at the Coca-Cola Coliseum for Dynamite.

In the headline match, Chris Jericho defends the Ring of Honor World Championship against Bryan Danielson. It will be the third meeting between the two since September, with each owning a win over the other.

The All-Atlantic title will also be on the line tonight, with PAC defending against Orange Cassidy. PAC has held the title since its inception in June.

Jungle Boy will take on Luchasaurus in a grudge match on the show. Christian Cage will be in Luchasaurus’s corner.

Interim AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm will team with Hikaru Shida against Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter.

“Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn will face Swerve Strickland in singles competition.

WarJoe’s Wardlow and Samoa Joe in action has been announced for the show.

An MJF promo was another late announcement for tonight’s program.

We can expect the AEW debut of Renee Paquette tonight as well.

Our live coverage begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

**********

AEW Dynamite opened with Excalibur welcoming us to the first ever international episode of Dynamite alongside Tony Schiavone, Taz and the newest member of the broadcast team, Renee Paquette, who walks out to a huge reaction from the Canadian crowd.

She introduces Toronto’s own Christian Cage, who said it’s great to be back and has a guarantee tonight on the same level of the Maple Leafs losing in the playoffs and introduces Luchasaurus.

Luchasaurus defeated ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry

Jungle Boy is now a nickname for Jack Perry, who used his speed early on to avoid the power of Luchasaurus. Perry did the Christian move of standing on the back in the ropes and spring over into a right hand on the floor. Back inside, Luchasaurus countered a leap frog into a German suplex to take over, clearing the ring attendant table on the outside. Luchasaurus missed a slap against the post and Perry went after the arm. Luchasaurus launched Perry into the guard rail and hit a back suplex onto the side of the apron.

It was all Luchasaurus during the break, as he picked apart Perry until Luchasaurus missed a corner charge and posted himself. Perry tried a dive through the table, Luchasaurus caught him, but Perry countered into a hurricanrana into the post. Both went to the apron above the table, as Perry avoided a powerbomb with a superkick, but Luchasaurus held onto the ropes. Perry hit a sunset flip from the ring to the floor to drive Luchasaurus through the table.

Christian left commentary to distract Perry, as Luchasaurus sat up. Perry was flapjacked and turned inside out with a lariat. In the corner, Luchasaurus got crotched and trapped in the Tree of Woe, but escaped and drove Perry to the mat with a buckle bomb and chokeslam for two. Perry countered a tilt a whirl back breaker into a crucifix slam for two of his own. Perry hit a Poison Rana and Killswitch for a very close two. Snare Trap applied, but Luchasaurus got the ropes. Christian briefly distracted Perry climbing the ropes and Luchasaurus hit a super choke slam and Burning Hammer for the win in a fun opening contest.

-Renee Paquette was backstage with Ethan Page & Stokely Hathaway, as they inform Matt Hardy & Private Party that they have purchased the contracts of Quen & Kassidy thanks to Jose the Asisstant and they now are part of The Firm. Page challenges Isiah Kassidy on Rampage and if Kassidy wins, Private Party can leave The Firm, but if Page wins, Matt Hardy becomes part of The Firm as well. This all happened way too quick, this was a lot to take in.

**********

TNT Champion Wardlow & ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe defeated Nick Comoroto & QT Marshall w/Aaron Solo

Back from break, QT briefly mocked the name WarJoe until Wardlow & Joe’s music interrupted. Solo was dispatched quickly, as Joe wiped out Marshall with a running senton. Comoroto stopped the Muscle Buster attempt, but was tossed to the floor, while Joe side stepped a diving Marshall. Wardlow turned Marshall inside out with a lariat and launched Comoroto with multiple overhead throws. Comoroto ran right into a spinebuster, as Joe held the feet while Wardlow hit a senton atomico. Joe applied the Kokina Clutch for the quick submission. For good measure, post match, Marshall suffered a powerbomb.

Before the Powerbomb Symphony can get going, Prince Nana interrupted with Brian Cage & The Gates of Agony. They have beef with WarJoe sticking their nose in their business with FTR last week, which immediately brought out FTR. Dax lays out a challenge to The Embassy and said they can’t ask WarJoe since they just had a match, but will have a Toronto boy to team with. Shawn Spears made his return to a huge ovation and he’s apparently a babyface now. Spears sent Solo into the ring to get hit with a Big Rig by FTR to stand tall. I know Spears is a hometown boy, but to have him just be a babyface out of nowhere was a little odd.

-Backstage Tony Schiavone is with Chris Jericho, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker to talk about the main event. Parker called Bryan Danielson a liar, poaching Daniel Garcia to break up their family. Menard said last week it hurt them a lot more than it hurt him. Jericho said he sees Garcia as a little brother, but he hasn’t taken his calls. Jericho said tonight isn’t about cheating, he’s The Lionheart, all will honor The Ocho.

**********

Swerve Strickland defeated Billy Gunn w/AEW Tag Team Champions The Acclaimed

Max Caster did a Canadian themed rap that popped the crowd huge. Gunn used his size early, but Swerve used speed to jump to the apron and hit a springing dropkick to the leg. Swerve zoned in on the leg during break as Gunn spilled outside. Swerve did a slingshot diving knee drop to the floor and lit up Gunn back in the ring with strikes. Gunn hit a tilt a whirl slam to create distance and regroup.

Billy teased a crotch chop, but opted for the scissor instead, only to miss a Fame-Asser. Swerve answered with a Flatliner, as he flattened Gunn with a Swerve Stomp off the top for two, as Swerve got cocky on the cover. Swerve missed a home run kick, but Gunn missed the One & Only, as Swerve got a roll up and grabbed the rope to steal the win.

Post match, The Acclaimed hit the ring to check on Gunn, teased a scissor, but Mark Sterling interrupted with Tony Nese. They have a document from the USA saying Sterling now owns the saying “scissor me” in pro wrestling. All the money from the t-shirt sales goes to Sterling, the hand gesture belongs to him, if The Acclaimed do that, he will sue. This is a really stupid storyline, I’m sorry.

-Backstage, Alex Marvez is with MJF and asks him about the post match with Wheeler Yuta last week along with the William Regal face off. Stokely Hathaway interrupts and MJF said that’s fine to do with other people, but not him. This is strike two and if he didn’t take his Carlton Banks wardrobe out of his shot, it’ll be strike three. Stokely leaves and MJF said he has a storied past with Regal and said he doesn’t know if he was about to shake the hands of Yuta post match. MJF said the crowd and most of the locker room want him dead, but he has no choice to be the bad guy, if you don’t like it, tough sh*t, as he will be AEW World Champion, he’s a generational talent. This was a really good promo from MJF.

**********

-Tony Schiavone is in the ring and plugs next Tuesday’s AEW World Title match with challenger Hangman Adam Page and his guest at this time, World Champion Jon Moxley. Excalibur informed us RJ City told him on February 24, 1968; Jimi Hendrix closed his show at this building with Wild Thing.

Moxley said after three years, it feels damn good to be back in Toronto. You always have a target on your back as World Champion, most crumble under the pressure, some faster than others. Moxley said it’s a job that requires you to be ruthless and that’s what he loves about this job. As soon as he mentions Hangman Page’s name, out walks Page, who interrupted because he wants whatever Moxley was going to say to say it to his face.

Page said last week what Moxley said meant the world to him, puts over Moxley as a great champion, father and husband. MJF is shown watching in the stands with his poker chip. Page ignores him and asks if Moxley views him as a kid, which Moxley agrees. He said he doesn’t view Page as the same guy who knocked him off a ladder one year ago, he doesn’t think Page has the guts to pull the trigger to do what it takes to win.

Page said he’s not the same guy, he hesitated, he went for the Trios Title with his best friends, while his old friends have disappeared. Page is anxious, depressed, but he’s still here, as a man. Page said like Moxley, he’s lost love ones, but is a father & husband and started punching himself in the face yelling that he’s a man. Page doesn’t care if Moxley’s family is there next week, he’ll do whatever it takes to win the title back. Page gives Moxley his word, he will be the next AEW World Champion.

Despite that hell of a promo from Page, the crowd started chanting for MJF, as Page shoulder bumped Moxley as he walked away, as Page messed his own face up from those punches. Having MJF out there in the crowd took away from this phenomenal promo from Hangman, despite that, this was an excellent final build to Tuesday night.

-An abbreviated version of the ROH Title match video from the Control Center is shown showcasing Bryan Danielson’s rise in ROH and his quest to regain the ROH Title.

Chris Jericho w/Matt Menard & Angelo Parker defeated Bryan Danielson to retain the Ring of Honor World Title

Ian Riccaboni & Lord William Regal join commentary, as Danielson kicked away the handshake from Jericho and opted to fire off strikes. A slingshot sent Jericho outside, where Danielson wiped him out with a dive through the ropes. In the ring, Danielson targeted the midsection until both men connected with 10 corner punches and chops. Jericho sat Danielson in the ropes, hit 9 punches and on the 10th, did a hurricanrana. Danielson regained control by again going for the ribs and roundhouse kick to the head for two.

Jericho mounted his comeback after the commercial break with a DDT, as Danielson was sent outside and wiped out by a springboard cross body. Jericho went to the top, but was cut off with an avalanche butterfly suplex into the LeBell Lock. Danielson tried to reposition, but Jericho countered into the Walls of Jericho. Danielson countered into a Walls of Jericho of his own, which didn’t please the Canadian crowd. Jericho escaped into a small package, but ate a roundhouse kick from Danielson for two.

Anvil elbows poured down until Jericho rose up with Danielson on his feet with a Death Valley Driver variation. The Lionsault missed, as Danielson hit a diving knee of the top two times, but on the third Jericho countered into a Code Breaker for a near fall. Danielson backflipped out of the corner, as referee Paul Turner was pulled into Danielson and took a bump. Jericho & Danielson collided as Menard threw the ROH title to Jericho.

Jericho waited forever for Daniel Garcia to hit the ring and rip the title away from Jericho. Jericho was shoved into a Busaiku Knee from Danielson, who turned and was clobbered with the ROH Title by Garcia. Parker tossed the referee into the ring, as Jericho made the cover to steal the match once again. Post match, Garcia handed the ROH Title to Jericho and cheers with the ROH Pure Title, while Wheeler Yuta hit the ring with William Regal and had a stare down with Garcia.

-Backstage Renee Paquette is with Nyla Rose, Marina Shafir & Vickie Guerrero, as Nyla makes a Judge Dredd reference and says she is the law, holding the TBS title. Anna Jay interrupts and challenges her for a title match on Friday for a title that isn’t even hers. Nyla accepts and I guess we have a title match set for Friday?

**********

AEW Interim Women’s Champion Toni Storm & Hikaru Shida defeated Jamie Hayter & Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. w/Rebel

Crowd is loudly behind Hayter, who had a fast opening sequence with Shida before Storm made a quick tag and beat down Hayter. Baker stopped Storm from going for Sweet Cheek Music, which allowed Hayter to clobber Storm with a running boot. Storm was isolated the entire commercial break until Shida made the hot tag right as they returned.

Shida ran wild and flattened Baker with a jumping knee and corner punches. Hayter tried to break it up, but suffered a suplex from the apron into the ring by Shida. Baker was suplexed onto Hayter, as Shida hit a Meteora off the ropes for two. Baker blocked the Kitana, as Hayter laid out Shida with a backbreaker. Storm countered a backbreaker into a cazadora bulldog. Shida got back in it, but ate a double superkick and Curb Stomp from Baker for two.

Storm hit a corner Tornado DDT and Storm Zero on Baker, but Hayter tackled Storm onto Shida making the cover. Hayter was sent outside, where Storm hit another Tornado DDT. Baker briefly had Lockjaw on Shida, who got a roll up for two. Shida hit a spinning Falcon Arrow on Baker, as both ladies traded pin attempts until Shida got a high stack for the flash pin. This was an action packed tag team match and a huge win for Shida to get back into the Women’s Title picture.

Orange Cassidy defeated PAC to win the AEW All-Atlantic Title

Cassidy missed an Orange Punch out the gate and was lit up with kicks and turned inside out by PAC, who put Cassidy’s hands in his pockets and mocked him with little kicks. PAC took too long in his mockery, as Cassidy kipped up with a dropkick. PAC rolled outside and caught Cassidy on a dive into a Falcon Arrow.

PAC was in firm control the entire break and dragged Cassidy’s lifeless body up the ramp and hit a nasty Tombstone, as PAC brings referee Bryce back to the ring to put a count on Cassidy, something he should’ve been doing a while ago. Cassidy used the ramp to roll down it, saved some time and broke the count at 9. Cassidy rolled right into the Brutalizer, but a foot on the ropes saved him.

PAC went for the hammer again outside, but was dropped with a diving DDT through the ropes to the floor. Back inside, PAC was spiked with another DDT and ate an Orange Punch for a close two. Cassidy went to the top, but PAC rolled to the side of the ring, where he was planted with a Beach Break. PAC blocked Orange Punch into a bridging suplex into the Brutalizer, but once again got the ropes.

The right ear of PAC is bleeding badly, as he again went for the hammer, but was stopped by the ring attendant, who revealed himself to be Danhausen, who cursed PAC. Danhausen ate a punch, as referee Bryce took the hammer from PAC, who had another hammer hidden, but Cassidy hit an Orange Punch. Bryce told Cassidy not to do it, as PAC got a roll up for two. Cassidy popped up and hit another Orange Punch and a home run punch for the win and the title. This was a fantastic main event with Orange Cassidy winning his first title in AEW and PAC’s cheating finally catching up with him. The show ended with Best Friends celebrating with a group hug.

Final Thoughts

Honestly, aside from the crowd chanting for MJF during the amazing Hangman promo, this crowd was on fire all night it felt. It was a night of great action, from the opener with Jack Perry & Luchasaurus, the women’s tag match, to the excellent main event. While I enjoyed Danielson & Jericho’s last match with each other more, tonight was a fine title match with Jericho cheating yet again. I had thought Daniel Garcia would’ve stayed on the outs with the J.A.S. longer, but it wasn’t meant to be. Perhaps he still will be the person who ultimately dethrones Jericho, it’ll just be a lot longer until that happens, which is fine by me, especially with Jericho on this fountain of youth discovery he’s had going on.
