AEW Collision ratings up, best viewership since October

Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 491,000 viewers on TNT, up 21.5 percent from the previous week. It’s the best audience total for the show since October 21 and is the 11th highest viewership of the 34 episodes of Collision that have aired to date. 

Collision drew a 0.15 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 25 percent from last week and is the highest rating the show has done in that category so far in 2024. It’s Collision’s best rating going back to December 23 of last year.

This was the second straight night of much better than usual ratings for AEW programming. Last Friday, Rampage drew its best viewership total since April 2023 and its best 18-49 demo rating since last August.

Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 404,000 viewers on TNT, up 34.7 percent from the previous week. This is Collision’s second-highest viewership total so far in 2024.

Collision drew a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 100 percent from last week’s record low of 0.06 (against the WWE Royal Rumble) and ties Collision’s second-best rating of the year in that category.

This is the 10th lowest rating of the 33 episodes of Collision that have aired to date and is the second-lowest for a Saturday episode with no WWE PLE competition airing on the same day.

Collision faced competition from a Los Angeles Lakers vs. New York Knicks NBA game on Saturday night as well as college basketball.

AEW Collision ratings drop against WWE Royal Rumble

Saturday’s AEW Collision averaged 300,000 viewers on TNT, down 32 percent from the previous week. It’s the lowest audience total the show has ever done on a Saturday night, beating only the November 17 episode that was moved to Friday night due to Full Gear airing in Collision’s regular time slot that week.

Collision drew a 0.06 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 50 percent from last week and is the lowest rating the show has ever done, regardless of time slot. It’s also the lowest rating AEW has ever done for a first-run wrestling program.

The record-low rating is because Collision went head-to-head with the WWE Royal Rumble on Saturday night. It also aired at the same time as a Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors NBA game that averaged 2.8 million viewers and drew a 0.69 rating in 18-49 in the fast nationals.

Like the previous week, Collision faced competition from the NFL playoffs on Saturday night. There was also competition from UFC 297.

Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 400,000 viewers on TNT, down 0.5 percent from the previous week. It’s the lowest audience total for the show since November 25 and is the second-lowest number Collision has done on a Saturday night where there was not a WWE premium live event on the same day. 

The show did go head-to-head with an NFL playoff game on Peacock that was the most viewed streaming event in history with over 23 million viewers.

Collision drew a 0.10 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 23.1 percent from last week and is also the lowest rating since the November 25 episode. It’s the lowest rating for a Collision episode without WWE competition.

Battle of the Belts, which immediately followed Collision on TNT, averaged 351,000 viewers and drew a 0.09 rating in 18-49. That’s the second-lowest viewership total of the nine Battle of the Belts specials that have aired thus far. It’s the lowest 18-49 rating that Battle of the Belts has ever drawn.

Battle of the Belts did retain nearly 90 percent of the overall audience of Collision and exactly 90 percent of the 18-49 demo rating, which is higher than the show usually does.

AEW Collision ratings down for first episode of 2024

Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 402,000 viewers on TNT, down 17.8 percent from the previous episode that aired two weeks ago. There was no episode last week due to AEW’s Worlds End pay-per-view airing at the time Collision normally would. 

This is the lowest audience for Collision since November 25 and is the eighth-lowest viewership total the show has done to date. It’s the second-lowest audience for a Saturday night airing that didn’t come on the same day as a WWE premium live event.

Collision drew a 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s down 18.8 percent from two weeks ago and is the lowest rating since the November 25 episode. It’s also the second lowest rating for a Saturday Collision episode that didn’t have WWE competition.

The episode did face competition from the NFL on Saturday night.

Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 489,000 viewers on TNT, up seven percent from the previous week. It’s the fifth straight week of viewership growth over the course of the Continental Classic and is Collision’s best audience total since October 21.

This is the 11th highest viewership for the show of the 28 episodes that have aired to date. 

Collision drew a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 6.7 percent from last week and is the fourth week out of the last five that the demo rating has grown. It ties the highest rating Collision has done in the key demo since September 23 and is the ninth highest rating the show has done since its July debut.

The episode featured the last week of Blue League matches in the Continental Classic tournament.

Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision, which went head-to-head with NXT Deadline, averaged 455,000 viewers on TNT, up 0.9 percent from the previous week. 

This is the highest audience total for Collision since October 28. It’s also the best viewership the show has ever done when airing on the same day as a WWE or NXT premium live event. 

Collision drew a 0.14 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s the same rating the show drew last week and ties the second-highest rating Collision has done in that category since September 16. It’s also the best 18-49 rating the show has done with WWE competition on the same day.

This was a taped Collision episode that was actually recorded on Tuesday, prior to Wednesday’s live Dynamite from Montreal. Collision featured two Continental Classic matches, along with a rare singles match from Kenny Omega. Omega’s match against Ethan Page drew the highest quarter hour viewership on the show.

Collision did benefit from the lack of college football competition, though the show went against the finals of the NBA’s In-Season Tournament in addition to NXT Deadline.

Saturday night’s AEW Collision averaged 451,000 viewers on TNT, up 42.3 percent from the previous week’s episode that went against WWE Survivor Series. This is the largest audience total for Collision since October 28.

Collision drew a 0.14 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 55.6 percent from last week and is the show’s best rating in that category since October 21.

It was championship week in college football, traditionally one of the biggest weekends of the year in that sport, and the charts were dominated by those games. Over 14.5 million people watched college football on Fox and ABC alone and both games went head-to-head with Collision.

This is the lowest total viewership for a Saturday night Collision episode that did not take place on the same day as a WWE PLE, although the 18-49 rating did beat out the October 28 episode which had no WWE competition.

Friday night’s episode of AEW Collision, which moved nights because of Saturday’s Full Gear pay-per-view, averaged 270,000 viewers on TNT. That’s down 31.8 percent from the previous week and is the lowest audience total in the history of the show. 

Collision drew a 0.08 rating in the 18-49 demo, tying the record low the show set on September 30. That’s down 27.3 percent from last week. Collision aired head-to-head with WWE SmackDown on Friday, and the six lowest rated episodes of Collision have all aired either head-to-head with WWE competition or on the same day as a WWE premium live event.

Rampage, airing immediately after Collision on TNT, drew slightly higher numbers than Collision in both viewership and the 18-49 demo. Rampage averaged 280,000 viewers, which was down 13 percent from the previous week. It’s also the lowest audience total in the history of that show.

Rampage drew a 0.09 rating in 18-49, down 25 percent from last week. That ties the second lowest rating the show has done in its regular time slot and is Rampage’s lowest rating since May 13 when it aired on a different night than usual.

As compared to the same week in 2022, Rampage was down 37.1 percent in overall viewers and down 35.7 percent in 18-49.

Overall, this was Collision’s fifth-lowest viewership total to date. It’s tied for the fourth-lowest 18-49 demo rating of the 22 episodes of Collision that have aired so far. This was also a rare case of the show not airing live as it was taped the night before alongside a live episode of Rampage on TNT.

Saturday night’s episode of AEW Collision averaged 366,000 viewers on TNT, down 22.5 percent from the previous week. It’s the lowest audience total for the show since October 7 when it went head-to-head with WWE’s Fastlane premium live event.

Collision took place on the same day as WWE Crown Jewel on Saturday, though Crown Jewel aired in the afternoon and the two shows didn’t go head-to-head.

This is the fourth-lowest viewership total in Collision’s history. The three episodes that finished lower all happened on the same day as a WWE PLE. 

Collision drew a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demo, down 30.8 percent from last week. It’s Collision’s lowest rating since September 30 and ties the second-lowest number in the history of the show. The five lowest rated episodes, both in 18-49 and total viewers, all came on the same day as a WWE PLE.

It’s the lowest audience total for the show since October 7 and is the second lowest-viewership for a Collision episode that did not air on the same day as a WWE premium live event.

Collision drew a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 demo. That’s up 14.3 percent from last week and ties the second-highest rating the show has done since August 17.

The show had the usual strong competition from college football, which dominated the cable charts, as well as the MLB National League Championship Series on TBS, which was the top non-football programming on TV with 4.6 million viewers and a 1.11 rating in the 18-49 demo.

Battle of the Belts VIII, which immediately followed Collision on TNT, averaged 397,000 viewers and drew a 0.13 rating in 18-49. That’s down 24.2 percent in overall viewers and down 13.3 percent in 18-49 from the previous episode that aired in July. It’s the second-lowest total audience of the eight Battle of the Belts specials that have aired to date and the fourth lowest 18-49 rating.

The last time both shows aired back to back on Saturday, Battle of the Belts retained 90.5 percent of the Collision lead-in with overall viewers and 75 percent of the 18-49 audience. This time, the show retained only 76.6 percent of the overall viewers but 81.3 percent of the 18-49 audience.
