DragonKingKarl: A look at WWF Magazine from December 1990

Today on Karl Stern’s DragonKingKarl Show, we hop in the time machine and set it for the fall of 1990.

Pro wrestling was slumping but not yet bottoming out and when the December 1990 issue of WWF Magazine hit the stands, the Texas Tornado (Kerry Von Erich) graced the cover.

Inside was tons of hype for the then-four man Survivor Series where Teams of Four strive to score or something like that. Anyway, the magazine seemed hyperfixated on getting over Saba Simba which makes for some pretty weird reading in 2025.

DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show: WWF Magazine from September 1992

Let’s have some fun on this week’s DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show looking back at a retro pro wrestling magazine. 

These shows have proven very popular and this week, we are looking at WWF Magazine from September 1992 (31 years ago!) featuring Papa Shango on the cover. He is making life miserable for the Ultimate Warrior and WWF Magazine tells us all about it.

Other features include more neon than you can shake a stick at with Randy Savage, a new shady character has shown up in WWF, and we find out what is known about Razor Ramon plus looks at Curt Hennig, Rick “The Model” Martel, and The Undertaker.

On our rotation of classic pro wrestling shows, this week takes a look back at the December 1993 issue of WWF Magazine.

As you can see, the cover story was about Razor Ramon and how long he could keep the WWF Intercontinental title. Plus, we got features on Ludvig Borga (Tony Halme), The Lex Express, and much more.

Also included was the WWF merchandise catalog with foam fingers and teddy bears in your favorite WWF wrestlers’ gear for some reason.

DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show: A look at May 1993’s WWF Magazine

On this week’s DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show, I take a look at another classic era pro wrestling magazine: WWF Magazine from May 1993 featuring Hulk Hogan on the cover.

This issue was put together shortly before WrestleMania 9 and came out shortly after, so they spend a lot of time skirting around the show. There are major feature articles on Andre the Giant and Bret Hart, plus some fun house ads for Coliseum Video, ICOPRO, and a WWF catalog insert.
