Reigns vs. Corbin cage match official for WWE Super ShowDown

A steel cage match has been announced for Super ShowDown later this month.

Baron Corbin and Roman Reigns will battle inside a steel cage in Saudi Arabia. Reigns made the stipulation tonight on SmackDown after Corbin insisted he and Roman Reigns face off one last time. Reigns came out and the two brawled, but Corbin eventually retreated.

Corbin and Reigns have been feuding since December. After beating Reigns at TLC thanks to Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, Corbin was defeated by Reigns in a falls count anywhere match last month at the Royal Rumble.

Last week, Corbin, Ziggler, and Roode faced Reigns and The Usos in a six man tag team match where the loser would have to eat dog food. Corbin lost the match and as a result had dog food dumped all over him, retribution from December when he did the same thing to Reigns.

Super ShowDown will take place Thursday, February 27 at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Alexa Bliss-Natalya WWE match not approved by Saudi Arabian government

WWE’s hope that the first women’s match in Saudi Arabia would happen Friday appears to be lost.

Those in Saudi Arabia noted to us that Natalya vs. Alexa Bliss, a match they hoped to be a late addition on today’s WWE Super ShowDown event, was not approved by the Saudi Arabian government.

The two women flew to Saudi Arabia this week with the crew.

At one point, the government had indicated to WWE they could have their first women’s match on this show, but then wavered on it.

As far as public relations goes, this situation can go two ways. On one hand, if they are able to get approval to have a women’s match on the November show in Saudi Arabia, they can at least bring out the women in front of the crowd today to promote it. On the other, if the women don’t appear today, it is what it is but won’t help WWE’s cause going forward for that next show.

Shawn Michaels set for next week’s WWE Raw

Shawn Michaels will return to Raw next week as WWE continues their build to The Undertaker/Triple H match at WWE Super Showdown.

Michaels was announced as appearing on Raw next week after a video aired talking about the match, which is being billed as the last time the two will face off. Notable figures such as Kevin Nash, Jeff Jarrett, Ric Flair, Mick Foley and Christian picked who they thought would win the match. Everyone except Christian picked the Undertaker to win.

Also announced for Super Showdown is John Cena teaming with Bobby Lashley to take on Elias and Kevin Owens, The Shield in a six man tag match and another confrontation between The Miz and Daniel Bryan, with the winner getting a WWE title match down the line. Shawn Michaels is advertised for the show, but will likely participate in a non-wrestling capacity.

WWE Super Showdown will take place on October 6 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia.
