Sami Zayn & Bayley declare for WWE Royal Rumble

Two more people have declared for the Royal Rumble.

In a backstage promo on Raw, Bayley reiterated she was the newest member of the Raw brand and declared for the Royal Rumble on February 1. Nia Jax confronted her backstage and said she planned on winning the Rumble. The two had a match, ending with Bayley being pinned following the banzai drop.

Also during Raw, Sami Zayn announced that he was entering the men’s Royal Rumble. That brought out longtime friend and sometimes rival Kevin Owens. Zayn asked Owens how they wanted to do this, knowing Owens has been seeking revenge on those who have teamed with Roman Reigns. Owens said Zayn’s situation wasn’t the same as Cody Rhodes’ situation because Regins did terrible things to Zayn and chose to forgive him, much like how Zayn has forgiven Owens in the past. 

The segment ended with Owens saying he knew Zayn would win the Rumble as he’ll have Zayn’s back, and hinted he wanted Zayn to play a part in his ladder match against Cody Rhodes at the Royal Rumble because he knew Zayn had his back.

Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins declare for WWE Royal Rumble

Two new entrants have declared for the men’s WWE Royal Rumble match, plus CM Punk has been confirmed for the bout.

Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk officially declared for the 2025 Royal Rumble in a promo segment on Monday’s WWE Raw. Punk initially declared for the match in a post-show promo last week, but Monday’s segment confirmed his participation.

Rollins and McIntyre are both new declarations for the Saturday, February 1 event set for Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Five entrants have officially announced for the men’s Royal Rumble match, with no participants confirmed for the women’s Royal Rumble to this point. Nia Jax insinuated in a promo on Monday that she would enter the women’s Rumble, but WWE has not officially announced that.

Roman Reigns declares for WWE Royal Rumble

Roman Reigns is entering the Royal Rumble.

On SmackDown, Paul Heyman started the show and asked for Cody Rhodes to come out. After some praise, Heyman told Rhodes that since Reigns won the ula fala from Solo Sikoa on Raw, his next goal was to get his championship back. Heyman said Reigns has declared for the Royal Rumble and intends on winning to earn a championship match at WrestleMania 41.

As Rhodes was set to respond, Kevin Owens cut them off and complained about Rhodes not only teaming with Roman Reigns, but was now shaking hands with Heyman. Rhodes eventually had enough and went after Owens through the crowd. Heyman in the ring, however, was soon met by Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga. 

As he was being cornered, Jimmy Uso came out for the save but was overwhelmed until Rhodes returned to clear the ring.

The first declarations for the Royal Rumble took place on Monday’s Raw premiere on Netflix. John Cena said he would enter after making his return to kick off his retirement tour. Meanwhile, CM Punk declared after winning his match against Seth Rollins in the main event.

CM Punk declares for WWE Royal Rumble

CM Punk will take part in the 2025 men’s Royal Rumble match.

Punk declared for the 2025 Royal Rumble in a post-match promo following his victory over Seth Rollins on Monday’s WWE Raw premiere on Netflix.

On the post-show streaming on WWE and Netflix digital channels, Punk was interviewed by Jackie Redmond and sated his intention to enter and win the Royal Rumble, calling out Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, and World Heavyweight Champion Gunther by name:

“46 [Punk’s age] is just a number. 1 through 30, just numbers. Royal Rumble, you’re next on the list. Gunther, I’m coming for you. Cody, I’m coming for you. I’m Mr. October. I’m Game 7. I am clutch. I am the best in the world.”

John Cena also declared for the men’s Rumble match on Monday’s Raw on the first stop on his retirement tour.

This year’s Royal Rumble PLE will be held Saturday, February 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Punk also dedicated his victory on Raw to TNA wrestler Chris Bey who suffered a serious injury at an event last October.

Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens World title ladder match set for WWE Royal Rumble

Kevin Owens will get his Undisputed WWE Championship rematch at the Royal Rumble.

In the closing segment of Friday’s SmackDown, Owens and WWE Champion Cody Rhodes successfully lobbied Nick Aldis for a ladder match at Royal Rumble with the title belts of both competitors suspended above the ring.

Owens scored a visual pinfall over Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event earlier this month after a referee bump took the primary official out of the match. On SmackDown, Owens was adamant that he wanted his title rematch in a scenario where the referee was not involved in counting the finish, with Rhodes suggesting the ladder match stipulation. Owens has been carrying around the “Winged Eagle” title belt used at Saturday Night’s Main Event since the show, claiming to be the real WWE Champion.

A men’s Royal Rumble match and women’s Rumble are the only other bouts certain for the 2025 Royal Rumble set for Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, February 1.

WWE announces start time for Royal Rumble 2025

Royal Rumble 2025 will continue the trend of WWE PLEs having early start times.

In a press release issued on Friday, WWE confirmed that the Royal Rumble 2025 main card will stream live on Peacock starting at 6 p.m. Eastern. It’s the third straight U.S. PLE that has featured an earlier-than-usual start time. The regular time had been 7 p.m. Eastern before being changed for Bad Blood and Survivor Series.

Royal Rumble 2025 is taking place from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday, February 1 and will mark the official start of the road to WrestleMania 41. WWE announced today that the Royal Rumble go-home episode of SmackDown will be held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Friday, January 31.

In addition to hosting Royal Rumble 2025, Lucas Oil Stadium is also getting a WrestleMania and SummerSlam in the future as part of a deal between WWE and Indiana Sports Corp. When those events will be happening has not been decided yet.
