London not in ‘specific discussions’ for WWE WrestleMania 44

At least at the moment, London, England is not in active discussions to host WWE WrestleMania 44.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has expressed his desire to bring WrestleMania to the city and even met with Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Nick Khan a couple of years back. It doesn’t sound like there has been much movement on the possibility, though, with a spokesperson for the mayor’s office telling Post Wrestling that there are no “specific discussions” as of now regarding London hosting WrestleMania in 2028.

“There are general discussions with WWE, but at present no specific discussions around bringing the 2028 WrestleMania to London,” said Tom Degun of the Mayor of London’s Press Team. Degun noted that the mayor remains committed to bringing worldwide sports attractions like WWE’s biggest events to London and continues to discuss future opportunities for that to happen.

Potential future WrestleMania host cities —

WWE has yet to confirm where WrestleMania will be heading in 2028 after WrestleMania 43 is held in Saudi Arabia in 2027. The city of Nashville, Tennessee has interest in hosting the 2028 event and is reportedly already involved in the bidding process. When getting WrestleMania, any host city would likely have to provide a site fee and other tax breaks.

WrestleMania was held in Las Vegas in both 2025 and 2026. Indianapolis and New Orleans are owed future WrestleManias per agreements the cities have with WWE. There has recently been talk that Ireland is hoping to host its first WrestleMania, though that is considered more of a long-term project.

Mayor believes London could help WWE bring WrestleMania to new heights

London Mayor Sadiq Khan believes his city could help bring WrestleMania to new heights.

Bringing WrestleMania to London is a goal that Khan remains committed to. Whether that will happen at any point in the near future remains to be seen, but the London mayor met with WWE executives Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Nick Khan last summer to discuss the possibility. This week, he again called on WWE to have London host WrestleMania.

“I’d love for WrestleMania to come to London,” Khan told CNBC while speaking at the SXSW London 2025 conference. “Triple H if you’re watching, we want WrestleMania to come to London.”

As of now, WrestleMania has never been held outside of North America. Bringing the event overseas would present logistical challenges, but Levesque has said WWE is open to making it work.

Sadiq Khan told CNBC that he believes a huge international city like London could help WWE expand WrestleMania into something even bigger than it already is.

“If WrestleMania came to London, my message to the team there is that we wouldn’t just have a great weekend, we’d have a festival, of you know, legends in WrestleMania coming to London, current stars, but also future stars as well,” he said. “It will open a completely new market for them as well.

“I think the potential has not been reached in terms of WrestleMania. We are the sporting capital in my view, of the world. And if WrestleMania wants to expand, the obvious place to come is London.”

While a deal for London to host WrestleMania has not been made at this point, WWE is close to finalizing Las Vegas as the location for WrestleMania 42 in 2026. It will be the second straight year Vegas has hosted WrestleMania.

Indianapolis and New Orleans are confirmed as future WrestleMania host cities but do not have dates attached yet. New Orleans was originally supposed to host WrestleMania 42 before WWE made the decision to move the show to Vegas.

London mayor ‘remains committed’ to hosting WWE WrestleMania

London Mayor Sadiq Khan is still hoping to bring WrestleMania to his city.

In his 2024 re-election campaign, Khan mentioned WrestleMania among the major sporting events he wants London to host. There has been no deal struck yet between WWE and the city, but the mayor had a meeting with Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Nick Khan last summer about the possibility.

The mayor’s office published a report today touting that six events (the UEFA Champions League Final, NFL and MLB regular season games, the London E-Prix race, and London Athletics Meet) brought £230 million in direct economic impact to London in 2024. Looking ahead, the report said Sadiq Khan remains committed to making London the first city outside of the United States or Canada to host WrestleMania:

Building on London’s success, the Mayor has talked up his ambition to bring more of the biggest sporting events in the world to London. Sadiq has expressed his support for a bid for the Olympics and Paralympics to return to London in 2040, while he remains committed to making London WrestleMania’s first international destination. The Mayor is also in positive discussions with the NBA to bring games back to the capital, which is supported by the work of his Basketball Taskforce, while the 2029 World Athletics Championships is another target.

Levesque recently said that, while bringing WrestleMania overseas would be difficult logistically, WWE is up for the challenge.

Las Vegas was the host city for WrestleMania 41, and New Orleans is getting WrestleMania 42 in 2026. It’s also known that Indianapolis will host WrestleMania at some point as part of a deal between WWE and Indiana Sports Corp.

Triple H responds to London mayor wanting to host WWE WrestleMania

Update —

Paul “Triple H” Levesque posted the following tweet responding to London mayor Sadiq Khan wanting to host WrestleMania:

**********

As part of his re-election campaign, London mayor Sadiq Khan is hoping to bring WWE WrestleMania to the United Kingdom for the first time ever.

Khan has said that, if re-elected on May 2, he will start a task force to bring more sports from the United States to the city. He wants London to host WrestleMania, the Super Bowl, and NBA games, along with hoping to have the Olympics in London again.

“I believe that London has the potential to host the first international WrestleMania,” Khan said.

It doesn’t seem like a UK WrestleMania is in WWE’s immediate plans. Company president Nick Khan stated last week that WWE has decided its big five PLEs (WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank) should be in the United States or Canada. The goal is for WWE’s other PLEs to take place from international locations.

WrestleMania 40 was held in Philadelphia earlier this month. The location for WrestleMania 41 has not been announced yet.

WWE’s upcoming international PLEs are Backlash (May 4 in France), King & Queen of the Ring (May 25 in Saudi Arabia), Clash at the Castle (June 15 in Scotland), and Bash in Berlin (August 31 in Germany).

London’s O2 Arena did host Money in the Bank last year. During the show, John Cena made a surprise appearance and advocated for WrestleMania to be brought to London.

Sadiq Khan has been London’s mayor since 2016.

Roman Reigns added to WWE London and Paris house shows

Roman Reigns has been added to two stops on WWE’s upcoming European house show tour.

WWE has announced that Reigns will be wrestling in London on Friday, April 29 and Paris on Saturday, April 30. This will be the first time Reigns has wrestled in Europe since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Ronda Rousey is also set for the London and Paris house shows. The tour will feature wrestlers from the SmackDown roster.

The tour has four stops in total, though Reigns and Rousey have only been announced for London and Paris. The tour dates are:

  • Thursday, April 28 — Utilita Arena in Newcastle, England
  • Friday, April 29 — The O2 in London, England
  • Saturday, April 30 — Accor Arena in Paris, France
  • Sunday, May 1 — QUARTERBACK Immobilien Arena in Leipzig, Germany

Reigns currently holds the Universal Championship. He’ll face off with WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in a winner-take-all title unification match in the main event of WrestleMania 38 night two on Sunday, April 3.

WWE London live results: Ronda Rousey vs. Alexa Bliss

The Raw roster was in London, England yesterday for a house show at the O2 Arena. They’ll be in Osaka, Japan on Friday and Shanghai, China on Saturday.

– Bobby Roode defeated Jinder Mahal

After Roode won with a roll-up, Mahal wanted another match and refused to leave. That led to a match with Bray Wyatt.

– Bray Wyatt defeated Jinder Mahal

Wyatt hit Sister Abigail to win within seconds.

– Sasha Banks, Bayley & Natalya defeated The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan)

Banks got the win for her team with the Banks Statement.

– WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander defeated Drew Gulak to retain his title

Alexander retained with the Lumbar Check.

– Raw Tag Team Champions The B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) defeated The Revival and Titus O’Neil & Apollo Crews to retain their titles

They had a match that was mostly comedy, with Axel pinning Dash Wilder with a schoolboy.

– Bobby Lashley interrupted an Elias segment. They sang “Angels” by Robbie Williams together until Elias attacked him. Lashley laid Elias out with a vertical suplex.

– Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose defeated Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre

They had a very good match, ending when Rollins hit the curb stomp and pinned Ziggler. Rollins, Ambrose, and McIntyre were all cheered a lot.

– Finn Balor defeated Baron Corbin

Balor won with a roll-up. This was said to be a boring match with little crowd reaction. After it was over, Corbin beat down Balor and made a no DQ match between them.

– Baron Corbin defeated Finn Balor in a no DQ match

Corbin won with a few chair shots and the End of Days.

– Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey defeated Alexa Bliss to retain her title

Bliss avoided Rousey at the start. When Bliss tried to attack her, Rousey hit judo throws. Bliss faked that she was injured and was helped up by referees, but she then attacked Rousey to gain the advantage.

Bliss cut off a few comeback attempts by Rousey and stayed on offense. Rousey finally hit a gutwrench powerbomb-type move, her strikes in the corner, more throws, a slam, and submitted Bliss with an armbar.

– Universal Champion Roman Reigns defeated Braun Strowman by DQ

The crowd cheered Strowman, but Reigns also got about 70 percent cheers. Ziggler and McIntyre interfered for the disqualification and joined Strowman in attacking Reigns.

Rollins and Ambrose made the save, with The Shield closing the show by triple powerbombing McIntyre through a table.

WWE London, ENG, live results: HHH teams with Rollins & Ambrose

– Finn Balor defeated Samoa Joe

This was a very solid opener with both getting in their signature moves. They had good chemistry and the match flowed well.

After Balor won, he cut a promo saying this was where he defended his NXT title against Joe at TakeOver: London, and Joe took him to his limits tonight like he did in that match. Joe was put over and got some chants as well.

– Jason Jordan, Goldust, Heath Slater & Rhyno defeated Elias, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson & Bo Dallas

Elias came out to huge boos and sang “Wonderwall” while everyone joined in, then he changed the lyrics to insult London and was booed again. Jordan got the pin in a fun match. He received a mixed reaction when he entered, but he was being cheered by the end.

– Asuka defeated Mickie James

Neither got a great reaction and the crowd wasn’t that into this. Asuka submitted James with the Asuka Lock before James was left in the ring to get cheered.

– Tyler Bate & Trent Seven defeated Joseph Conners & Tyson T-Bone

The UK wrestlers got surprisingly small reactions, including a “Moustache Mountain” chant for Bate and Seven that failed to get started. The match was slow paced as Seven spent a lot of time isolated from Bate. After Bate was tagged in, they hit a double team move to win the match. YouTube star Emma Blackery was the guest timekeeper for this and was booed.

– WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore defeated Kalisto to retain his title

Amore got the second biggest pop of the night when he entered, but he cut a promo trashing the fans and was booed after. He claimed to be the new King of the Cruiserweights but didn’t mention Neville directly. Kalisto was cheered and there were several “Lucha” chants.

This was the shortest match on the show, going about three minutes until Amore retained.

– Braun Strowman defeated Kane by DQ

Both got loud reactions, especially Kane. Kane hit Strowman with a chair early to cause the disqualification. He set up a table after, but Strowman countered and powerslammed him through it. The crowd went wild for that.

– Bayley & Sasha Banks defeated Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss & Nia Jax

Bliss and Jax played the best friends gimmick very strongly. This went on for a while with Jax getting some power spots in. The crowd was really into the match and were strongly behind Bayley and Banks, who tapped out Bliss with the Banks Statement for the victory.

– Intercontinental Champion The Miz (w/ The Miztourage) defeated Matt Hardy to retain his title

Miz cut a promo and was getting frustrated that he was being booed. He talked about how he was the star of “The Marine 5” and how the director was here in the crowd, but he was still booed. Miz then took about five minutes to take off his robe. His heel work got the crowd really into this.

A poke to the eye and the Skull Crushing Finale got the win for The Miz while Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas were distracting the referee.

– Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose & Triple H defeated Cesaro, Sheamus & Bray Wyatt

Rollins and Ambrose came through the crowd and were mobbed, but Triple H got the biggest pop of the night. He took the Shield gear and joined them in the ring.

The match was long but had plenty of fun spots. Rollins, Ambrose, and Triple H hit the Shield triple powerbomb for the win. After that, there were deafening chants for London to get WrestleMania. Rollins and Ambrose said they would have WrestleMania in the UK and put their hands in for the fist bump, with Triple H following suit, but they said it unfortunately wasn’t their decision to make.
