Kamala signed to posthumous WWE Legends deal

Nearly five years after his passing, Kamala (real name James Harris) has been signed to a WWE Legends contract.

The Harris family made a Facebook post this week announcing that WWE has signed Kamala to a posthumous Legends deal. The news comes as Kamala is reportedly being considered as a potential addition to the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2025.

“We couldn’t be prouder that James’s legacy is back home where it belongs,” said Emmer Jean Harris, the wife of Kamala.

Branding agency 16 Creative worked with the Harris estate to negotiate this deal with WWE.

“When we began working with the estate, my main goal was to get Kamala signed to a Legends deal — and hopefully into the WWE Hall of Fame. I’ve always felt that’s where he belongs, and I think many of his fans would agree.” said 16 Creative founder Jared Ashley. “It has been such an honor to work with this family over the past few years, and now with WWE, to help preserve Kamala’s incredible legacy.”

Kamala died of a heart attack at 70 years old in August 2020 after complications from diabetes and COVID-19. His battle with diabetes caused Kamala to lose both of his legs in the later years of his life.

One of the most memorable pro wrestling characters of the 1980s, Kamala was a star in Memphis, Mid South, World Class Championship Wrestling, and the WWF.

The 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is taking place in Las Vegas on Friday, April 18 with Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Michelle McCool, Lex Luger, and The Natural Disasters (Earthquake & Typhoon) confirmed for the class so far.

‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan signs WWE Legends contract

Wrestling legend “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan is back under contract with WWE.

Speaking on a new episode of The Hacksaw Hour, Duggan revealed that he recently signed a WWE Legends contract. Duggan said it’s been a while since he was last under a Legends deal — and he’s looking forward to being featured in action figures and video games again.

“I just signed a Legends deal with the WWE,” the 71-year-old Duggan announced. “Just recently signed the Legends deal. I haven’t signed it for a while, there was a little kind of discrepancy what was going on, but we got it all worked out and was able to sign it. So hopefully the action figures and the games will be coming back out again.”

Duggan made an appearance at the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event episode that took place in San Antonio on January 25. While at the show, he was also interviewed for future WWE content. Duggan said he was treated very well backstage and received a good paycheck for appearing. He feels WWE is a whole different world under its new management regime.

“I’m excited [about the Legends deal]. Like I said, it’s a whole new day up there in WWE. Proud to be part of it,” Duggan said. “Of course, you know, I never blasted the WWE. I never blasted Vince [McMahon]. As bad as he was, I still wouldn’t be where I am without him. Wrestling wouldn’t be where it is without him. I can’t vouch for his character — but as a businessman that took wrestling from high school gyms and National Guard armories to what it is today.

“But I signed that deal, so hopefully it won’t take too long to be in the circuit to come out with new action figures and stuff, and hopefully they give me some abs this time, you know? [laughs]”

Duggan is a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 2011.

Demolition sign WWE Legends deals

Legendary late-1980s tag team Demolition are reportedly under WWE Legends/Nostalgia contracts, first reported by PWInsider.

The original members (Bill Eadie & Barry Darsow) revealed last fall that they were invited to attend the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony for WrestleMania 40 but were unable to attend due to prior commitments. The two are not in the Hall of Fame, adding to speculation this could be the precursor to being named to this year’s class.

The 77-year-old Eadie (Demolition Ax) and 65-year-old Darsow (Demolition Smash) made their WWE debut as a team in January 1987, eventually winning the then-WWF Tag Team titles three times. Their 478-day reign from March 1988 to July 1989 still stands as the third-longest in main roster history behind The Usos and the New Day.

Eadie, who competed for WWE as far back as 1983 as the Masked Superstar, last wrestled for WWE at the 1990 Survivor Series. Darsow, who continued to team with Crush (Bryan Adams) in Demolition, eventually changed his character to Repo Man, ending his run in March 1993.

Jesse Ventura signs WWE Legends contract: ‘I feel very good about it’

Jesse Ventura is officially back in the fold with WWE.

Nearly six months after revealing that he was in negotiations with the company, Ventura announced on Thursday that he has signed a WWE Legends contract. Ventura called it a full-circle moment with him returning to his roots.

“I thought it was time that maybe I tell everybody, indeed, hell has frozen over. Yes, hell has frozen over. I’m back in the WWE as a legend. I’ve gone through negotiations, we’ve reached agreements, and I feel very good about it,” Ventura said. “You know, I’m 73 years old now and my life has now gone full-circle. I got my first fame and fortune in the wrestling industry. I went on to do many, many other things above and beyond wrestling — or outside of wrestling — after I left it. And now maybe it’s only right that I come back to wrestling in the twilight of my life and finish off with what I always was.”

A former wrestler and iconic voice on commentary, Ventura was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004. He served as the governor of Minnesota from 1999-2003.

Ventura attended WWE Raw in St. Paul this summer while in the process of signing this Legends deal.

While making today’s announcement, Ventura teased that there are “bigger and better” things coming, joking that he has unfinished business in the ring with Hulk Hogan.

“I’ll just say this: there’s even more bigger and better stuff waiting to happen,” Ventura said. “Because I’ll finish like this — let’s remember one thing, I never did get my shot at Hogan, did I?”

Armando Alejandro Estrada signs WWE Legends contract

Armando Alejandro Estrada has a new deal with WWE.

On X, Estrada wrote that he had signed a new Legends/Nostalgic deal with WWE.

“I’m happy to announce that I have signed a 5 year Legends/Nostalgia contract w/ @WWE for special appearances & merchandising, including action figures, video games, & more!,” he wrote. “Great to be back in the fold with them!”

After spending time in Ohio Valley Wrestling, Estrada was called to WWE’s main roster in 2006 as the manager of Umaga. Once his storyline with Umaga finished, he was moved to the ECW brand, where he served as the General Manager while occasionally wrestling. After feuding with Colin Delaney, he was released from the company in November of 2008. He returned briefly in 2010 to manage Tyson Kidd before being taken off television again and was released a second time in 2012.

Several former WWE stars have announced new Legends deals in the company recently, including Victoria, Jacqueline, the estate of Brian Pillman, and Jesse Ventura.

Jesse Ventura says he’s in negotiations for WWE Legends deal

Jesse Ventura has offered some more information on the discussions he’s having with WWE.

The 72-year-old Ventura revealed last month that he and WWE were “talking again” now that the company is in a new era. With WWE going in a new direction and Vince McMahon no longer being involved, Ventura was willing to talk with WWE again.

In an interview with Frank Morano of WABC 77 Radio, Ventura said the negotiations are for a WWE Legends contract:

I’m back negotiating with them. We’re in talks right now. In fact, I have contracts with my attorney right now with the WWE. And I can only say that that’s happened because of the change of direction in the company.

We don’t know right now fully [what his role would be]. They want to bring me back under their Legends. You know, I’m an old guy now and you’ve got to have the legends. And, hell, if you go back to WrestleMania I, there ain’t too many of us alive anymore. It’s true. Look at — Roddy’s gone, Orndorff’s gone, Andre’s gone, John Studd’s gone. You start going down WrestleMania I and you’ve got more gone — Junkyard Dog’s gone. The list goes on and on. There’s Hogan, myself, and Tito, and a couple more, we’re the only ones left.

The door is, you know, we’re talking right now about me having some — you know, I’m getting older. I mean, I’m in my 70s now. And I guess I’d just like to open up the door at the end in the wrestling career and see what’s still left there. And it ain’t like I’m going to go back on the mic, because, if I could be honest with you, I don’t even know who wrestles there anymore.

A WWE Hall of Famer, Ventura both wrestled for the company and was an iconic voice on color commentary, working alongside Gorilla Monsoon and Vince McMahon. Ventura has made some sporadic appearances since departing WWE in 1990, including being the guest host for an episode of Raw in 2009.

From 1999-2003, Ventura was the governor of Minnesota.
