PW Insider listed Ricochet and Shinsuke Nakamura scheduled to be there, which just means they are to be there and not necessarily on the show. There will be another twist in the Seth Rollins angle after the “meeting with Vince McMahon” and Logan Paul was hinted at being on the show as would be expected for the final Raw with all hands on deck.

SUNDAY NEWS UPDATE

We have two weekend shows. I did one show with Garrett Gonzales talking about the Hall of Fame, Jon Moxley, MLW lawsuit against WWE, ratings notes and more. The weekend show with Bryan Alvarez is also up talking about the Hall of Fame, and New Japan, Rampage, Smackdown, UFC and more.

Regarding searches on Google for the week, there were two items that came up in the top 20 this past week. John Cena was No. 16 on Tuesday for noting that he was probably not going to be at WrestleMania this year. UFC was No. 9 yesterday with 200,000 for coverage and interest in the company’s first show of the year.

The Toronto Star article on the battle for wrestling supremacy between Vince McMahon and Tony Khan that has gotten a lot of talk, mainly for a paragraph with a WWE comment knocking AEW.

We’re looking for reports from last night’s WWE show in Fargo, ND and tonight’s show in Sioux Falls, SD to [email protected].

Results from Fargo last night: Damien Priest b The Miz to keep the U.S. title, Madcap Moss b Ricochet, Chad Gable b Riddle, Bobby Lashley b Kevin Owens in seconds, Becky Lynch kept the Raw women’s title over Bianca Belair, Doudrop an Liv Morgan, Finn Balor b Austin Theory, Omos b Montez Ford, Charlotte Flair kept the Smackdown women’s title in a three-way over Shayna Baszler and Naomi with Sonya Deville as referee, Kofi Kingston & Seth Rollins & Big E b Roman Reigns & Usos.

Baszler is expected to be a super huge babyface tonight in Sioux Falls unless WWE insists on her insulting her former hometown.

Whatever rumors are going around, these two things are not true:

  • There will be no AEW involvement at the Royal Rumble. Jon Moxley will not be at that show.
  • TJ Wilson is still working for WWE and stories of him quitting are inaccurate.

Not saying this will happen, but with Monday being the first NFL playoff game in history opposite Raw, in theory Raw should do one of its lowest numbers of all-time. Like with last week, if Dynamite beats Raw or Raw does a weak number by its standards, it really isn’t significant of anything past the power of an NFL playoff game. The first number to show what level Raw really is at will be the show on the 24th. To make things worse for WWE, Dwayne Johnson will be working with the Manning Brothers announcing the ESPN 2 version of Monday’s game. No matches have been announced thus far for Raw.

Katlyn Chookagian’s last fight of her UFC contract was last night’s win over Jennifer Maia. She wants to stay in the promotion but UFC had not offered her a new deal.

UFC

  • Drakker Klose vs. Brandon Jenkins is earmarked for the 4/16 show.

SUNDAY NEWS UPDATE

The weekend Observer radio with Bryan and I is up on the site today, talking Battle of the Belts, Smackdown, WrestleKingdom and all kinds of other news including the death of 70s star Strong Kobayashi.

For the first time in a long time, nothing related to MMA, boxing or pro wrestling cracked the top 20 searches for any day this week. I didn’t expect AEW’s Battle of the Belts to make it and WWE rarely cracks the list unless it’s a major news story or a PPV show. The biggest news story of the week I thought was the cuts in NXT but that didn’t break into the top 20.

We’re looking for your thoughts from last night’s Impact Hard to Kill and NJPW/NOAH WrestleKingdom shows, thumbs up, down or middle, best and worst match to [email protected].

A match that a lot of people have raved about was last night’s New Japan Strong match with Eddie Kingston vs. Gabriel Kidd.

AZM being announced as injured from last night’s Stardom show from a kick by Momo Watanabe was legit. It fits into the angle they are doing so a lot of people thought it was just selling an angle. AZM being off today and tomorrow’s shows was not planned. They believe she broke her nose but that was just their doctor’s speculation at this point.

WWE

  • Results from Glens Falls, NY last night: Xia Li b Natalya, Sheamus b Rick Boogs, Charlotte Flair b Naomi with Sonya Deville as heel ref to keep the Smackdown title, Damien Priest kept the U.S. title over Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins, Riddle b Austin Theory, Becky Lynch kept the Raw title in a three-way over Liv Morgan and Bianca Belair, Roman Reigns & Usos b Viking Raiders & Big E. Reigns was the star of the show (thanks to Matt Watson)
  • Kevin Owens wasn’t in Boston for today’s show. We have reports from Martin Boulevard and Scarlett Michanco up to intermission. The first three matches were the same as last night. With Owens out, it was Bobby Lashley (babyface) & Priest over Rollins & Ziggler. The Lynch match, same as last night, was said to be the best thing so far.

AEW

  • The reality show “Relatively Famous, Ranch Rules” on E! that I’ve seen a lot of commercials for during wrestling shows, debuts on Wednesday at 9 p.m. There will be two episodes. The show is about kids with famous parents. Austin Gunn, the AEW wrestler and son of Billy Gunn, is one of the cast members. He’s got perhaps the least known celebrity parent since other involved are kids of Pat Benatar, David Hasselhoff, Martin Lawrence, Shaquille O’Neal, Ray Parker Jr., Billy Bob Thornton and Easy E. PWInsider reported that AEW footage will be on the show when Austin Gunn and Myles O’Neal get into a discussion.
  • Bryan Danielson was at the Cavalcade of Customs in Cincinnati today (thanks to Brian Henke)

UFC

  • Jim Miller vs. Nikolas Motta has been added to the 2/19 show.

OTHER NOTES

  • Stardom today at Korakuen Hall: Thelka b Saki Kashima, Mayu Iwatani & Hanan b Unagi Sayaka & Waka Tsukiyama, Mirai & Himeka & Hanan b Tam Nakano & Mina Shirakawa & Mai Sakurai, 4 on 3: Momo Watanabe & Starlight Kid & Rina & Ruaka b Saya Kamitani & Utami Hayashishita & Lady C, Hazuki & Koguma b Giulia & Syuri to win the Goddesses of Stardom tag titles when Hazuki pinned Giulia.
  • There is a gimmick boxing show in Brazil coming up and former UFC heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, who is 45 and his last MMA win was in 2012 and he retired in 2015, is coming out of retirement on the show. Guilherme Cruz has the story.
  • Nogueira faces former UFC fighter Leonardo Guimares in a 220-pound fight. Former WBO/WBA champion Acelino Freitas, who is 41=-2, faces Whindersson Nunes, a YouTube star who has never boxed. Esquiva Falcao (29-0) faces the debuting Yuri Fernandes who was a star on Brazil’s version of Big Brother.

They broke bout 100 light tubes over each other’s bodies. Good for what it was. Tremont replaced John Wayne Murdoch with less than 24 hours notice. Tremont said after taking one year off that he’s back. (thanks to Ross Blair)

WWE Cape Girardeau, MO, live results: Kane vs. Bray Wyatt; Enzo & Cass tangle with the Wyatts

Submitted by Thomas Jackson

– Neville vs Bad News Barrett

Neville got the win with the Red Arrow.

– Social Outcasts (Bo Dallas and Heath Slater) vs. Darren Young and Damien Sandow

Sandow was OVER, but Outcasts got the win with a roll up.

– Rusev (with Lana) vs. Fandango

Rusev won in less than a minute with the Accolade. The doctor ran to ringside and helped Fandango to the back after the match, not sure what sort of injury he may have received.

– Rusev vs. Ryback

Rusev got on the mic and challenged anyone to come out and face him, which led to Ryback (massive pop) to accept the challenge. Hard hitting match, Ryback eventually picked up the win with a Shellshock.

– Enzo and Big Cass vs The Ascension

Enzo and Big Cass got the victory fairly quickly. Afterwards, the Wyatt Family (minus Bray) ran down and attacked Enzo and Big Cass, with Big Show coming in for the save. After some trash talk by Show, this led to a six man tag.

– Enzo, Big Cass, and Big Show vs. Wyatt Family (Harper/Rowan/StroMAN)

Show, Cass, and Enzo defeated the Wyatt Family when Show pinned Rowan after a chokeslam.

– Divas Champion Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch

My personal choice for match of the night. Charlotte got the victory with a roll up.

– WWE Tag Champions New Day vs. The Usos

The Dudleys was also advertised for this match but for whatever reason they weren’t here. Fun match, lots of playing to the crowd by both teams. The New Day ended up picking the win after some shenanigans, but afterwards The Usos survived a beatdown and posed with the championships.

– Kane vs Bray Wyatt

Kane won with a chokeslam, but Bray controlled most of the match.

WWE Baltimore, MD, house show results: Roman Reigns vs Sheamus

Submitted by Gerald Jones

  • Dolph Ziggler def. Tyler Breeze. Great match to start the show.
  • Lucha Dragons, Damien Sandow, Fandango, R-Truth and Curtis Axel def. WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Big E), Los Matadores, Heath Slater and Adam Rose. Sin Cara chased Xavier Woods to the back with his trombone.
  • Jack Swagger def. Bo Dallas. Bo came out and criticized the crowd and called them a bunch of idiots.
  • Kane def. Bray Wyatt. Bray was by himself and had a pretty good reaction.
  • Brie Bella & Alicia Fox def. Naomi and Tamina. The crowd chanted “We want Sasha” and Naomi said “You want Sasha? Well you aren’t going to get Sasha.”
  • Ryback def. Rusev. The match was a snore fest. I even heard a little kid tell his mom that it was boring.
  • WWE Champion Roman Reigns def. Sheamus in a street fight. Good use of tables, kendo sticks, and chairs. Roman won with a spear thru the table, and got a great reaction with not a boo in the arena for him. He stayed a little bit after to take selfies and sign autographs.

Byron Saxton and Eden hosted the whole night. Did a great job.
