Jacob Fatu reportedly injured ahead of WWE Clash in Italy

Jacob Fatu might be injured heading into WWE Clash in Italy this weekend.

According to PWInsider Fatu was spotted limping after his WWE live event match against Solo Sikoa in Liverpool last night. There is no confirmation on the legitimacy and seriousness of the injury.

Fatu is scheduled to face Roman Reigns on May 31 for the World Heavyweight Championship in a highly anticipated rematch.

Despite coming up short at Backlash earlier this month, Fatu remains obsessed on claiming everything Reigns has and the Bloodline legacy for his own. However, the stakes have been raised with their match now officially taking place under Tribal Combat rules.

WWE Clash in Italy 2026 Odds

BetOnline has released full odds for all five matches at WWE Clash in Italy, the company’s first-ever PPV on Italian soil, taking place this Sunday (May 31) at the Inalpi Arena in Turin. Four of the five champions sit as clear favorites to retain.

Full odds factsheet

Here are the latest odds for the show (as of writing):

MatchFavoriteOddsUnderdogOdds
WWE World Heavyweight Championship (Tribal Combat)Roman Reigns (C)-700Jacob Fatu+400
WWE Women’s World ChampionshipRhea Ripley (C)-800 to -900Jade Cargill+425 to +500
Undisputed WWE ChampionshipCody Rhodes (C)-130Gunther+100
WWE Women’s Intercontinental ChampionshipSol Ruca-300Becky Lynch (C)+200

The lopsided lines

Reigns is the steepest favorite on the card at -700, which translates to roughly an 88% implied chance of walking out still holding the World Heavyweight Championship. Fatu at +400 sits near 20%.

Rhea Ripley is priced even shorter. Depending on the snapshot, she opened anywhere from -800 to -900 against Jade Cargill, putting her north of 88% to retain the Women’s World title. Cargill’s +425 to +500 is the longest underdog price on the board.

The Undisputed WWE Championship is the only match that reads like a coin flip. Cody Rhodes sits at -130, Gunther at +100, basically a pick’em. Rhodes opened at -300, a comfortable favorite, then watched his line collapse to -130 as money came in on Gunther. That -130 still implies about a 56.5% chance for Rhodes, but the drift toward Gunther is the sharpest signal on the entire card.

Cody Rhodes thinks WWE Clash has already become ‘Big Four’ PLE

Cody Rhodes thinks WWE’s international Clash events have already made their mark as one of the biggest shows the company puts on each year.

While speaking with ESPN Unsportsmanlike ahead of Sunday’s Clash in Italy, Rhodes said he would personally rank Clash as one of WWE’s “Big Four” PLEs alongside WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam. He also mentioned Money in the Bank as being in contention but thinks Survivor Series — a traditional “Big Four” event — no longer occupies one of those spots.

“I think Clash is sneaking up as one of WWE’s ‘Big Four’ PLEs,” Rhodes said. “The fact that it’s somewhere new international each year. And Italy, I think they’re up to the task.”

Previous Clash events have been held in Paris (2025), Glasgow (2024), and Cardiff (2022), with this becoming a signature event for the European market.

“I think Clash is becoming that [a ‘Big Four’ event] because of the international appeal of it and the fact that, you know, it’s moving all around,” Rhodes said. “I like that it gives every city an opportunity to be the best Clash.”

Rhodes gave WWE president Nick Khan credit for identifying international markets to visit. Those European countries are now competing with each other to be the loudest WWE crowd.

“I think right now one of the things you’re seeing with the international crowds and Nick Khan’s been so good about identifying this in the different markets, is they’re almost competing with each other in a fun way,” Rhodes said. “In a sense of, ‘Well, Lyon, France is the loudest crowd ever in WWE history. We’re going to be even louder.’ Even some more subdued, you know, the German crowd always fills the arenas but they’re a little bit more subdued in the noise and the acoustics, even they have decided, ‘No, we’re getting in on being the loudest crowd.’ And that’s really the challenge that we present to them.”

Cody Rhodes at WWE Clash in Italy —

Rhodes enters Sunday’s event in Turin as the Undisputed WWE Champion. He’ll be putting the title on the line against Gunther, and fans won’t have to wait very long for their matchup. Rhodes vs. Gunther has been announced as one of the matches scheduled for the first hour of the show. It begins at 2 p.m. Eastern time with the first hour being simulcast on ESPN.

Rhea Ripley vs. Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship is the other match set for hour one. In the Unsportsmanlike interview, Rhodes praised Ripley by saying he doesn’t think there is a bigger star in the wrestling space than her right now.

Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu – Tribal Combat for the World Heavyweight Championship

Reigns and Fatu are running it back from Backlash Tampa in a Tribal Combat match. This is a no-disqualification, no-count-out match in which the winner is recognized as Tribal Chief of the Anoa’i family. Reigns is 2-0 in these types of matches, having beaten Jey Uso at SummerSlam 2023 and Solo Sikoa on the 2025 Raw on Netflix Premiere.

Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther – Undisputed WWE Championship

Rhodes has held the Undisputed WWE Championship since WrestleMania 42 in March 2026, when he defeated Randy Orton. He’s since beaten both Ricky Saints and Sami Zayn in title defenses. Gunther earned his shot officially by beating Royce Keys on the May 15 SmackDown.

Rhea Ripley vs. Jade Cargill – WWE Women’s Championship

A direct WrestleMania 42 Night Two rematch. Ripley took the WWE Women’s Championship off Cargill at the show, then dealt with weeks of interference from Fatal Influence before Cargill resurfaced on the May 8 SmackDown

Becky Lynch vs. Sol Ruca – Women’s Intercontinental Championship

Sol Ruca is one of WWE’s biggest post-WrestleMania call-ups, and her non-title match against Lynch at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIV ended in a Lynch disqualification. This is only Lynch’s second defense of her current reign, which she started by beating AJ Lee at WrestleMania 42.

Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi

Lesnar appeared to retire at WrestleMania 42 after losing to Femi in what felt like a passing of the torch. Then on the May 18 Raw, Lesnar returned out of nowhere and hit Femi with four consecutive F-5s.

New stipulation added to Tribal Combat match at WWE Clash in Italy

A new stipulation is set if Jacob Fatu can’t win at Clash in Italy.

During Raw, Roman Reigns and Adam Pearce were discussing the contract both Reigns and Fatu were set to sign in the main event segment of the show. Reigns said that while he had to accept the Tribal Combat match at Clash in Italy, he wanted a new stipulation to the contract: if Fatu were to lose, he would have to “serve” Roman.

In the final segment, Fatu came out and immediately started to get rid of the table and chairs around him. Reigns came out as the two had a staredown with security preventing them from going any further. Reigns dismissed everyone, saying that with the contract signed, Fatu wouldn’t go after him. He reiterated the new stipulation for Sunday in Italy, telling Fatu that he would eventually learn to love the Tribal Chief.

Fatu agreed to the terms, saying that Reigns took them to new places, but it was time for a change, and if he couldn’t dog-walk him, he’d still at least have a job. But if he won, everyone, including Reigns, would learn how to acknowledge him.

Reigns won last month, but Fatu’s rampage continued

Reigns was victorious over Fatu at Backlash, defeating him to retain the World Heavyweight title. But Fatu immediately went on the attack after the match, and in the weeks following Backlash continued to lay out Reigns and the Usos. After the trio were successful in laying out Fatu last week, he issued the Tribal Combat challenge for Clash in Italy.

Women’s Intercontinental title match added to WWE Clash in Italy

A match for the Women’s Intercontinental title is set for Clash in Italy.

Becky Lynch tried to be smart during her non-title match against Sol Ruca during Saturday Night’s Main Event, throwing referee Jessika Carr into Sol Ruca’s way as the new Raw star laid her out with the Sol snatcher. Once the referee recovered, she called for the bell, disqualifying Lynch. The enraged champion then jumped Ruca, laying her out with multiple manhandle slams.

Backstage, Nick Alids informed Lynch that he had talked to Raw GM Adam Pearce and as a result of her actions, an Intercontinental title match had been added to next Sunday’s Clash in Italy, which will take place in Turin.

Ruca has yet to score a pinfall victory since getting called up to the main roster, losing to the likes of Liv Morgan and IYO SKY. After Lynch dismissed Ruca on this past Monday’s Raw, the former NXT star went to the ring and called out Lynch. The two eventually agreed to a match for SNME, but Lynch objected to putting the Intercontinental title on the line.

First hour of WWE Clash in Italy to air on ESPN

It’s a common announcement for WWE premium events these days: the first hour is going to air live on cable TV, with the rest of the show airing on a premium streaming network.

The WWE announced during Friday Night SmackDown that the first hour of Clash in Italy would air on ESPN. After that, viewers will tune in on ESPN Unlimited in the United States, or on Netflix internationally. The trend first started back at WrestleMania, when the first hour of both nights of WrestleMania aired on cable television.

Clash in Italy airs on May 31 from the Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy. The event will start at 8 p.m. local time, which will be 2 p.m. on the East Coast of the United States, 11 a.m. on the West Coast.

The announced card so far:

  • Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther for the Undisputed WWE Championship
  • Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu in Tribal Combat for the World Heavyweight Championship
  • Rhea Ripley vs. Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship
  • Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi

WWE Women’s title match official for Clash in Italy

Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill will clash in Italy.

It was confirmed at the start of Friday’s SmackDown that Ripley and Cargill will meet again on May 31 in Turin, Italy. She talked about how she had one week off and yet everyone had missed her. She said if Cargill wanted her so badly, she would beat her again in Italy.

Ripley defeated Cargill for the WWE Women’s title at WrestleMania last month. Cargill vanished from television until recently returning, setting her focus right back at Ripley, calling her out on last week’s show. Ripley has banded together Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss in recent weeks to fight back against both Fatal Influence and Jade Cargill. But the relationship between the three has been rocky, to say the least, with Flair reluctant to completely join forces with Ripley.

On Friday’s show, Flair and Bliss arrived with Flair telling Ripley that they have to focus on their match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where they will team together to take on Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin. The two ended up getting into a shouting match until Fatal Influence interrupted, setting up a tag team match for later in the show.

Who should face Drew McIntyre at WWE Clash in Italy? | Opinion

On the road to next weekend’s WWE Clash in Italy PLE, Drew McIntyre is advertised for both tonight’s and next week’s WWE SmackDown.

It will be his first televised appearance since his unsanctioned WrestleMania 42 match loss to Jacob Fatu after which have been tumultuous changes in storyline dynamics and rising talents in his absence.

So what’s next for the former champion? Here’s a few ideas for his direction ahead of next weekend’s big event in Turin.

Ilja Dragunov

Dragunov’s pursuit of the United States title seems to be on hold after Trick Williams’ win at WrestleMania, and Sami Zayn still holding on to hope for another rematch.

While that develops, Dragunov could pick a feud with McIntyre. Going up against an established name like McIntyre could offer him a fresh rivalry outside of the championship scene. McIntyre’s frustration following the loss to Fatu could create a natural conflict for Dragunov’s relentlessness.

Even if the rivalry does not have long-term storytelling, one match is enough to appeal to fans. Both men are known for their intense matches making their rivalry a perfect fit for a PLE like Clash in Italy.

Trick Williams

With Williams becoming a breakout star on the main roster in McIntyre’s absence, a rivalry between the two is going to come at some point.

Within six months of his SmackDown debut, Williams not only became a fan favorite, but he competed in his first WrestleMania match and won the United States title as referenced above. That in itself could irk McIntyre to call him out, being unsupportive of his rise to stardom in his time away.

It would create the classic veteran vs. rising star dynamic, enabling Williams to gain further credibility by facing and possibly defending the title against McIntyre.

Additionally, McIntyre’s persona, along with Williams’ charisma and confidence amid conflicting fan support, could create some fun tension for a rivalry.

Ricky Saints

Saints competed in his SmackDown debut against undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Despite their history dating back to their AEW tenure, Saints’ in-ring capability captured the WWE audience’s attention.

Saints already has the self-assured, verbally sharp and main character energy persona. Meanwhile, McIntyre is brutal, hardened and emotionally driven. He could call out Saints for embodying what WWE values like his charisma. This would provoke a retaliation from Saints, concluding in a verbal confrontation that could lead to a match next weekend.

Matt Cardona

A similarity between Cardona and McIntyre is that both men reinvented themselves following their WWE exits in early years of their careers.

McIntyre rebuilt himself and become World Champion worthy while Cardona transitioned from a comedy centric undercard talent to self-made independent wrestler. This would lay the foundation for a philosophical clash.

Ever since his return, Cardona has not been featured in a dominant rivalry. He attempted to influence Randy Orton’s decisions during his Rhodes feud for WrestleMania but that did not end well.

He has lacked a defining feud and storyline upon his return, and a match with McIntyre could reverse the situation, providing Cardona with the platform to showcase that his accomplishments outside of WWE were validated and relevant.

Brock Lesnar returns, attacks Oba Femi on WWE Raw

Brock Lesnar is back, and it looks like he’ll be wrestling in Italy.

On Monday, Oba Femi headed to the ring for his open challenge when suddenly someone entered the ring and attacked him. When the lights came on, it was none other than Brock Lesnar, who destroyed Femi with four F5s. After he was done, Lesnar looked at Femi and smirked before leaving the ring. Femi recovered enough to stare down Lesnar as he headed up the rampway.

Following the commercial break, Adam Pearce found Paul Heyman in his office and asked him what was going on, as he had filed retirement papers on Lesnar’s behalf. Heyman gave Pearce a contract, saying it was for a match between Lesnar and Femi for Clash in Italy and it already had Lesnar’s signature on it. Heyman told Pearce that if Femi signed it, it would set up the biggest rematch in history.

Brock Lesnar & WWE heavily suggested he had retired

At WrestleMania 42 last month, Lesnar lost to Oba Femi in quick fashion, falling to Femi’s powerbomb. After the match, an emotional Lesnar took off his gloves and boots and placed them in the ring, hinting that it was the end of his in-ring career. In the weeks following his apparent retirement, WWE had placed Lesnar in the alumni section of their website.

Despite this, PWInsider had recently reported he was still listed as an active performer internally within the company.

Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu Tribal Combat match set for WWE Clash in Italy

Tribal Combat returns.

On Monday’s Raw, the rematch between Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu was set for Italy following a confrontation that took place in the opening segment. Fatu was in the ring and beckoned for the World Heavyweight Champion to come out. Reigns did as the two brawled, but this time Reigns got the upper hand thanks to The Usos’ help. The three headed up the ramp and started to leave as Reigns told Adam Pearce to do what he need to do.

Fatu recovered enough, however, to issue the Tribal Combat challenge to Reigns who accepted the match. It was later made official for Turin on May 31.

Although Reigns eeked out a victory at Backlash thanks to an exposed turnbuckle, it was quickly made clear that Fatu wasn’t done with Reigns as he attacked his cousin following the bell. On last week’s Raw, the two brawled once more but the result remained the same, with Fatu not only laying out Reigns but sending him and The Usos through a nearby barricade after connecting with a hip toss.

WWE Championship match official for Clash in Italy

Gunther is ready for Clash in Italy.

It was made official on Friday’s SmackDown that Gunther will challenge Cody Rhodes after defeating Royce Keys in an impromptu number one contender’s match. As a result, he will now officially challenge Rhodes in Turin on May 31.

Rhodes came to the ring Friday holding the contract that was given to him by Heyman last week. Rhodes demanded Gunther arrive to sign it, ready to defend the title later this month. The former World Heavyweight Champion came out and instead played games, asking Rhodes to say please. Keys interrupted the proceedings and told Gunther if he wasn’t going to sign it, he would. The two argued over who was going to sign until Nick Aldis interrupted, setting up the main event.

The finish of the main event saw Solo Sikoa arrive and introduce a steel chair to the match despite Keys telling Sikoa earlier in he show he didn’t want his help. Keys proceeded to throw the chair at Sikoa’s head, sending him out to the floor. Gunther cut off Keys and pinned him following a powerbomb.

Another match seemed to be made for Turin, as Jade Cargill said she would be taking the WWE Women’s title back from Rhea Ripley at Clash in Italy. However, the match has yet to be confirmed. What was confirmed was a six-woman tag team match for Saturday Night’s Main Event which will see Cargill team with Michin and B-Fab to take on Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss.

Gunther joins WWE SmackDown brand, issues challenge to Cody Rhodes

Gunther is coming for Cody Rhodes.

On Friday’s SmackDown, Gunther was set to discuss his actions after choking out Rhodes last week. Instead, Rhodes came out and said he wanted to face Gunther right then and there. Paul Heyman emerged and said the fight would not be in Jacksonville or even the United States. Rather, it would be in Turin, Italy on May 31, handing Rhodes a contract.

After the two traded some words, Heyman eventually left as Gunther used the distraction to run in through the crowd for the attack, attempting a sleeper. Rhodes managed to avoid it twice, causing Gunther to bail. Rhodes told Gunther that he was easy to find, but hard to beat, with announcers noting that nothing had been confirmed for Italy just yet.

It was also confirmed on Friday that Gunther had joined the SmackDown brand, jumping from Raw.

Gunther began to set his sights last week

Last week’s show had Rhodes announcing he medically cleared after injuring his orbital bone in the aftermath of his WWE title match against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42. Rhodes accepted a challenge from Ricky Saints and managed to score the win, only for Gunther to jump him from behind and sink in his sleeper, quickly establishing himself as the next contender.

Update on Roman Reigns’ WWE schedule

World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns is set to work five more WWE dates before the end of the month.

WWE posted a social media graphic today confirming Reigns’ schedule for the remainder of May. Along with this weekend’s Backlash event, he’ll be working Clash in Italy at the end of the month. He’ll also be appearing at all three episodes of Raw between the PLEs.

Here is the full list of dates:

  • Saturday, May 9: Backlash at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida
  • Monday, May 11: Raw at Food City Center in Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Monday, May 18: Raw at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina
  • Monday, May 25: Raw at Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio
  • Saturday, may 31: Clash in Italy at Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy

Reigns, who won the World Heavyweight title from CM Punk at WrestleMania 42, will be making his first title defense at Backlash against Jacob Fatu. It shouldn’t take too long for Reigns’ plans for Clash in Italy to be confirmed after that match.

At one point, WWE’s website was advertising Reigns for a slate of Raw episodes in June. He’s since been removed from those listings, with it now expected that Reigns will not be working the June 27 Night of Champions PLE in Saudi Arabia.

Reigns is not advertised for the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event episode that’s being held in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 23.
