The Fiend faces Seth Rollins at WWE Calgary house show

Bray Wyatt’s Fiend character made its house show debut at WWE’s event in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on Friday night.

The Fiend challenged for Seth Rollins’ Universal Championship, with Rollins winning by disqualification. For the finish, The Fiend put Rollins in the Mandible Claw against the turnbuckle/ropes and wouldn’t let go of the hold.

It appeared that Rollins was going to stand tall after giving The Fiend four curb stomps in the post-match angle. But when Rollins stood over him after and was seeing if The Fiend was going to stay down, The Fiend reached up and put Rollins in the Mandible Claw again. The lights went out and The Fiend was gone when they came back.

The Fiend controlled the match until Rollins countered a Sister Abigail attempt. The Fiend popped right up after being hit with a curb stomp during the match and did the same for the first curb stomp he took after it was over.

This was Wyatt’s third match as The Fiend. He defeated Finn Balor at SummerSlam and defeated The B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) in a post-SmackDown and 205 Live dark match at Madison Square Garden earlier this month.

Rollins will defend his Universal title against The Fiend in a Hell in a Cell match at WWE’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view in Sacramento, California on October 6.

The Raw roster will be in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for a house show tonight. Rollins vs. Wyatt is again advertised for the card.

– SmackDown Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus defeated The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) to retain their titles

Sheamus superkicked a distracted Big E for the pin.

– Jeff Hardy came out, but he was jumped by Samoa Joe on the ramp. Joe put him in the Coquina Clutch and cut a promo, saying “Looks like Jeff Hardy is unconscious on the floor again…remember to drink responsibly.”

– Charlotte Flair defeated Asuka

Charlotte cut a promo to drowning Becky Lynch chants from the crowd and called out Asuka.

Charlotte worked slightly heelish in working Asuka’s leg. They had a long match where each broke out of each other’s submissions and there were several near falls. Asuka got her knees up on a moonsault and was favoring her leg. Charlotte reversed a roll-up for the pin. I thought this was the match of the night.

– Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson & Shelton Benjamin defeated The Colons & Andrade “Cien” Almas (w/ Zelina Vega)

Gallows and Anderson hit the Magic Killer for the win.

– Jeff Hardy defeated Samoa Joe

Hardy came out still selling his neck from earlier. Hardy jumped Joe on his way to the ring and got the early advantage.

They had a back-and-forth match. Joe laid out Hardy and grabbed a six pack of beer and the mic from under the ring and toasted Hardy. Joe picked up Hardy, took a drink of beer, and Hardy reversed into a Twist of Fate — sending beer everywhere. Hardy pinned Joe for the win.

– Lana defeated Billie Kay (w/ Peyton Royce)

Royce then challenged Lana after.

– Lana defeated Peyton Royce (w/ Billie Kay)

Lana got the win with a quick roll-up.

– Rusev defeated United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura by DQ

Nakamura avoided fighting for the first several minutes and tried to leave with the title during the middle of the match. He low blowed Rusev for the disqualification.

Nakamura set up for the Kinshasa after as Rusev was getting up, but Rusev hit the Machka Kick and stood tall holding Nakamura’s US title belt.

– WWE Champion Daniel Bryan defeated The Miz to retain his title

Bryan berated the crowd and ripped up someone’s “I love beef” sign. He told the crowd they may not have heard — but the Yes Movement is dead. Miz said he will take it over and started a “Yes” chant. Miz asked to be introduced as “from Calgary Canada, the Calgary Kid.” Miz was completely over with the crowd and started numerous “Yes” chants during the match. The crowd gave him a “Miz is awesome” chant.

After a ref bump, Bryan hit Miz with the WWE Championship belt and the recovered referee counted the pin for Bryan to retain.

Bryan grabbed the mic after and said he was going to knee Miz in the face, but Miz reversed and hit the Skull Crushing Finale. Miz cut a very babyface promo to end the show.
