Women’s Tag Team title match added to WWE Bash in Berlin

The Women’s Tag Team titles will be on the line in Berlin.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Alids announced on social media Friday that The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn) would defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles against former champions Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair at Bash in Berlin on August 31.

Fyre and Dawn shocked everyone by winning the titles back in June at Clash at the Castle in their home country of Scotland. Belair & Cargill got their rematch on the August 2 edition of SmackDown. They won the match by DQ when Blair Davenport ran in and made the save for the champions, also saving their belts in the process. Cargill defeated Fyre the following week on SmackDown.

The champions most recently made a successful defense on Raw this past Monday, defeating Damage CTRL and Pure Fusion Collective in a three-way match.

Here is the updated card for Bash in Berlin:

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against Kevin Owens
  • WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defends against Randy Orton
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn) defend against Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair
  • Dominik Mysterio & Liv Morgan vs. Damian Priest & Rhea Ripley
  • Strap match: CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre

Randy Orton wants to main event WWE Bash in Berlin, expects ‘insane’ atmosphere

Randy Orton wants to be in the main event spot at WWE Bash in Berlin.

Orton is slated to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE’s first-ever PLE from Germany. In an interview with the Daily Mail promoting the event, he praised Gunther as a special talent and an amazing heel. Orton believes their match should go on last at Bash in Berlin.

“I’m always out there feeling like I have something to prove. I haven’t had a main event PLE match [in] almost four years. I didn’t realize it had been that long, plenty of PLEs since then, but not one of this caliber. So yeah, the crowd is going to be hot and this is going to be a big night. I would love to see us main event this show,” Orton said.

“But I know Cody [Rhodes] and Kevin [Owens], that’s a big, big match too, but you’ve got a couple good guys in there beating the sh*t out of each other. I think me and Gunther should close the night. And I think that it’s going to go down in history, whether or not I win or lose. People will be talking about this match for a long time, and I know that, because Gunther is such an amazing talent.”

Orton’s last one-on-one PLE main event was against “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at TLC 2020. He’s had other main events since then, but they were not singles matches.

Uber Arena is hosting Bash in Berlin on Saturday, August 31. Though Gunther is from Austria, he spent a considerable amount of his early career in Germany. Orton expects that the crowd will be split but leaning toward Gunther.

“But I think what’s going to be really interesting about this match [in] Berlin is the crowd is probably going to be a little bit on his side. I think there’s going to be some Randy Orton fans in the crowd, but I think it might be split,” Orton said. “You know, he’s a big Austrian boy. Austria is right next to Germany, man, and those German fans are going to love them some Gunther. So I’m actually bringing my wife over because I don’t want her to miss the atmosphere that’s going to take place at that show on the 31st. It’s going to be insane.”

Orton and Gunther previously faced off in the WWE King of the Ring finals this May. Gunther won that match, but there was a botched finish where Orton had his shoulder up while being pinned.

A brawl between Orton and Gunther closed Raw last night after Orton defeated Ludwig Kaiser in the main event. After the show went off the air, Orton delivered an RKO to Gunther and briefly posed with the World Heavyweight Championship belt.

CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre strap match official for WWE Bash in Berlin

A SummerSlam rematch with a stipulation is set for the August 31 WWE Bash in Berlin event.

As officially announced during Monday’s WWE Raw, CM Punk will take on Drew McIntyre at Bash in Berlin in a strap match.

Punk announced in a promo on Monday’s Raw that he had petitioned GM Adam Pearce for the contest and that the bout had been finalized for the Saturday, August 31 Bash in Berlin PLE. McIntyre appeared during Punk’s promo segment and accepted the challenge.

McIntyre and Punk met at SummerSlam earlier this month in Cleveland with McIntyre scoring the victory in a match where Seth Rollins served as special guest referee.

Four matches are official for Bash in Berlin set for Saturday, August 31. The main card will stream at 1 p.m. Eastern time on Peacock/WWE Network. The announced lineup so far:

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against Kevin Owens
  • WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defends against Randy Orton
  • Dominik Mysterio & Liv Morgan vs. Damian Priest & Rhea Ripley
  • Strap match: CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre

Mixed tag announced for WWE Bash in Berlin

New Judgment Day and old Judgment Day will clash in a mixed tag team match at WWE Bash in Berlin.

WWE revealed during Monday’s Raw that Rhea Ripley & Damian Priest will face The Judgment Day’s Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio in a mixed tag team match at the Bash in Berlin PLE set for Saturday, August 31.

Morgan is the Women’s World Champion, retaining her title over Ripley at SummerSlam after Mysterio turned on Ripley and interfered on Morgan’s behalf.

Ripley & Priest subsequently left The Judgment Day and have remained aligned, with WWE commentators referring to the duo as The Terror Twins.

Three matches are official for the pay-per-view to this point. The current card:

WWE Bash in Berlin, Saturday, August 31, 1 p.m. Eastern time —

  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defends against Kevin Owens
  • WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther defends against Randy Orton
  • Rhea Ripley & Damian Priest vs. Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio

Undisputed WWE Championship match official for Bash in Berlin

Cody Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE title on Saturday, August 31 at Bash in Berlin.

Rhodes and general manager Nick Aldis nominated Kevin Owens as the next title challenger during Friday’s SmackDown after Owens came to Rhodes’ aid in an angle against Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline on the show.

Owens was reluctant to accept the title bout insisting that he had not earned it, but Rhodes and Aldis were adamant about Owens getting the shot. Aldis eventually made the title match official in a backstage segment with Owens and Rhodes.

Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Owens is the second bout official for Bash in Berlin set for Saturday, August 31. Already announced, new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther will defend his title against Randy Orton at the event in Germany.

The show will stream beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern time on Peacock/WWE Network.

Gunther vs. Randy Orton World Heavyweight title match set for WWE Bash in Berlin

The World Heavyweight title match for Bash in Berlin is official.

On Raw, Gunther was talking about his victory at SummerSlam when Randy Orton came out to confront him. He pointed out that his shoulders were not down at King of the Ring and while he knows that the referee’s decision is final, he wanted another shot at Gunther and challenged him for Bash in Berlin. Gunther accepted, setting up the match for August 31.

Gunther did get the victory at the King of the Ring finals back in May, but at the time there was controversy over the finish. Triple H was asked about it in a social media video following the show.

“Coming back here and seeing it back, I saw exactly what you saw. I saw what everybody saw. I saw what everybody is talking about,” he said. “Didn’t really even seem controversial to me, just seemed like Randy Orton’s shoulder wasn’t down. But I’m going to say this: the referee’s decision is final. Gunther is your King of the Ring.”

The Ring General went on to defeat Damian Priest to win the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time at SummerSlam after Finn Balor turned on Priest.

Here is the lineup so far for WWE Bash in Berlin:

  • World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther defends against Randy Orton

WWE announces Bash in Berlin PLE for August 2024

WWE has announced a premium live event will take place in Germany next year.

The company revealed today that Bash in Berlin will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from Mercedes-Benz Arena. It will be the first time Germany has hosted a WWE PLE.

From WWE.com:

The announcement of Bash In Berlin in partnership with Live Nation follows the huge success of multiple International WWE Premium Live Events over the past 12 months, including: Elimination Chamber from Montreal, Backlash from Puerto Rico, Night of Champions from Jeddah and Money In The Bank from London.

The news comes a month after WWE announced the 2024 Elimination Chamber will be held on February 24, 2024, at Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia.

Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany holds 17,000 people for MMA and concerts and just under 15,000 for hockey and basketball.

Nick Khan has previously stated that WWE is looking to gain subsidies for more of its PLEs in the future. WWE received nearly $3 million in subsidies from the Welsh government for Clash at the Castle last year and roughly $1.5 million from the Puerto Rican government for Backlash in May.
