High school wrestling tournament renamed to honor Bray Wyatt

A high school wrestling tournament in Florida is being renamed to honor the late Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda).

The Hernando Wrestling Club announced that its December 5-6 tournament will now be known as “The Windham Rotunda Memorial Invitational.” Along with that, an annual scholarship is being established in Wyatt’s name.

Wyatt attended Hernando High School and starred on the wrestling and football teams. The wrestling club is run by David Pritz, who was a teammate of Wyatt’s at the Brooksville, Florida school.

“With the blessing of the Rotunda Family and Brooksville Kiwanis we are changing the name of the long lasting Kiwanis Invitational to the Windham Rotunda Memorial Invitational,” Pritz announced. “We also are creating a scholarship fund in his name that will be presented to one senior wrestler every year before the finals of the tournament.

“This will be our 44th year hosting one of the most established high school wrestling tournaments in the state of Florida. Windham was my teammate and one of the most memorable athletes to ever wear the Purple and Gold. I hope this can be a small tribute to his lasting legacy. He is a true legend and someone we will never forget.”

Hernando High School also recently honored Wyatt by inducting him into the school’s Hall of Fame. The former WWE Champion passed away at 36 years old in 2023 due to a heart condition.

Wyatt’s sister Mika shared that she and her father Mike Rotunda both became emotional when she shared the wrestling tournament announcement with him.

“Showed dad this! We both cried,” Mika wrote.

Mike Rotunda, a WWE Hall of Famer, is recovering from a heart attack that he suffered in September.

It’s been 11 months since Rotunda was released from his WWE contract in July 2021. He’s yet to wrestle anywhere since then.

Last month, Rotunda teased on Twitter that it’s “almost time” for his return to pro wrestling.

Rotunda and Joseann Offerman (former WWE ring announcer JoJo) announced this April that they’ve gotten engaged. The couple has two children together.

Former Bray Wyatt teases in-ring return: ‘It’s almost time’

Windham Rotunda, the former Bray Wyatt in WWE, took to social media to comment on his future.

On Twitter, Rotunda said that he is “ready now”, and that “it’s almost time”, teasing a return to in-ring action.

“Everything good that’s ever happened to me, first came a period [of] horrible suffering,” he wrote. “I never ask why, I just wait for the rough part to end. I was chosen for whatever reason. And I’ve got shit to do. It doesn’t hurt anymore, it burns. I’m ready now.”

“I’m tired of watching,” he added. “Tired of hearing irrelevant clowns speculate how I’ll be perceived. Tired of hearing about my greed, my desire questioned. Wherever and whenever I decide to return, I’ll remind everyone why they know my name. Again. And again. Believe in me. Patience. It’s almost time.”

Wyatt has not wrestled since being released from WWE on July 31 of last year. Last November, it was reported one of his first projects post-WWE was a feature film, a collaboration with Callosum Studios and its owner Jason Baker.

Bray Wyatt & JoJo Offerman get engaged

Windham Rotunda (formerly known as Bray Wyatt in WWE) and Joseann Offerman (former WWE ring announcer JoJo) are now engaged to be married.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Offerman revealed that Rotunda proposed to her and the two are now engaged: “A million times YES! I love you Windham and I cant wait to marry you (even though it feels like we’re already married) Here’s to forever @thewindhamrotunda)

Rotunda and Offerman have two children together. Their first child, a boy named Knash Sixx Rotunda, was born in May 2019. Offerman then gave birth to a girl named Hyrie Von Rotunda in May 2020.

Rotunda also has two children from a previous marriage.

Rotunda and Offerman got together while both were with WWE. Rotunda was released by WWE last July and has yet to wrestle anywhere else since.

In August of last year, it was confirmed that Offerman is no longer under contract with WWE. PWInsider wrote that she had departed the company six to eight months prior to that. Offerman hadn’t appeared on WWE television since announcing her first pregnancy in 2019.

Bray Wyatt announced for WrestleCon 2022 in Dallas

The first talent announcement has been made for WrestleCon 2022, and it is the former Bray Wyatt.

Windham Rotunda, known as Bray Wyatt and The Fiend in WWE, has been announced for the WrestleMania week 2022 WrestleCon in Dallas, Texas.

WrestleCon 2022 will be held at the Fairmont Dallas hotel from March 30 to April 5, 2022. Ticket information will be made available here soon, while hotel reservations at a discounted rate are available here now.

Rotunda’s WWE non-compete clause expired on October 30 after he was released by WWE on July 31. His final match with the company came at WrestleMania 37 in April, where he lost to Randy Orton.

While AEW president Tony Khan has said that he would like to talk to Rotunda at the right time, Rotunda’s first post-WWE project is a feature film. The movie is a Callosum Studios production and expected to be a horror film.

Bray Wyatt’s first post-WWE project a feature film

The former Bray Wyatt is working on a feature film with Callosum Studios, according to a report.

Windham Rotunda’s first post-WWE project was announced in an exclusive report by Metro.co.UK. Callosum’s owner and special makeup effects artist Jason Baker says that he and Rotunda are collaborating on a movie.

“It’s a feature film and it’s something really new and different. I’d say probably the best way to describe it is Ichi the Killer meets Xanadu,” Baker said.

Baker posted a photo on a Warner Bros. studio lot with Rotunda late last month, and says that the film project sprung out of some Hollywood meetings. Fightful Select was first to report on those meetings.

“We had some meetings out there and things happened and things got moving forward, and now we’re going and shooting this feature film with him and the end of the month,” Baker said. “He’s a phenomenal collaborator, he’s become a really good friend, and we’re actually.. We’re starting a film at the end of the month.”

Baker is the artist who created Rotunda’s Firefly Fun House puppets, but says not to expect any of that in the new film.

“We’re not using any of that… We’re going in a completely different direction, a whole new thing,” he said. “It should be fun. Hopefully fans of horror and fans of Windham like it.”

Baker also states that filming for the movie begins shortly. “Two weeks to go, we’re filming in Tennessee,” he said.

AEW’s Tony Khan interested in talking to Bray Wyatt

AEW president and CEO Tony Khan is interested in talking to the former Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) at the right time and place.

During an appearance on WFAN’s Moose & Maggie earlier this week, Khan said he hasn’t talked to Rotunda about signing with AEW. The New York Post followed up on that in an interview with Khan, asking him if that’s a conversation he’d like to have when the timing is right for everyone.

“Yeah. I really like Windham (Rotunda). I know him a little bit and I really enjoy him,” Khan said. “The last time I saw him was at Chris Jericho’s birthday party and that was a long time ago. I like him as a person very much and he’s a really talented person. At the right time and place, sure I’d be interested to talk to him. I’m interested to talk to him in general because he’s a great person.”

Rotunda was released by WWE on July 31. His final match for WWE was at WrestleMania 37 this April, where he lost to Randy Orton.

Bray Wyatt expected to sign with AEW

The former Bray Wyatt is expected to join All Elite Wrestling.

On today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that while it is not one hundred percent, Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt) is expected to join the company.

“It’s most likely happening,” Meltzer said. “It’s at the same stage as Aleister Black long before it happened. I don’t think there’s pen to paper or anything like that but the expectation is pretty strong, put it that way.”

Wyatt was released from WWE on July 31 after being off television since the Raw following WrestleMania. It was said at the time that budget cuts were the reason for his release. He had been off television due to a medical issue, but was set to return to the company at any time.

Since his release from WWE, Wyatt has been cryptic on social media. On August 9, he wrote “You can’t kill it”. On August 20, he wrote “Rock Stars come and go. Musicians play until they die”, attributing the quote to Eddie Van Halen.
