Four NXT 2.0 wrestlers coming to NXT UK

Several members of the NXT 2.0 roster have been advertised for future episodes of NXT UK.

On Thursday’s edition of the show, footage was shown of Damon Kemp (Bobby Steveson), Ivy Nile, Von Wagner, and Lash Legend arriving at the BT Sport Studio in London for Wednesday’s tapings.

“Starting next week, the Americans are coming,” Nigel McGuinness said on the broadcast. “NXT Superstars Lash Legend, Ivy Nile, Damon Kemp, and the imposing Von Wagner arrived here earlier this week. I, for one, cannot wait to see what matchups NXT UK General Manager, Johnny Saint, comes up with for this fresh batch of talent.”

Von Wagner was then shown tearing up an autograph Saxon Huxley signed for a young fan, perhaps setting up an angle between the two of them.

Kemp posted a photo of himself in front of the NXT UK logo to social media on Wednesday. Legend and Nile both posted similar photos on April 15.

Kyle O’Reilly vs. Von Wagner cage match set for WWE NXT

A cage match between former tag team partners Von Wagner and Kyle O’Reilly will take place on NXT this Tuesday.

O’Reilly threw out the challenge in a promo following an altercation where Wagner tried to attack O’Reilly after their tag match at tonight’s NXT WarGames event. O’Reilly said that he saw the turn coming, and asked to leave the cage set up as he challenged Wagner to the cage match for Tuesday.

The duo were unsuccessful in winning the NXT Tag Team Championship from Imperium (Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner) at tonight’s show After the match, Von Wagner appeared behind O’Reilly, preparing to attack. O’Reilly noticed and attacked him instead, laying him out before exiting the ring.

O’Reilly’s WWE contract is set to expire this month, though the specific date is not known.

Also set for this Tuesday’s NXT is a match between Xyon Quinn and Santos Escobar. MSK will also finally meet the shaman they have been looking for in vignettes that have aired over the last few weeks of NXT television.

Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner are getting a Tag Team title shot at NXT WarGames.

NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) will defend their titles against O’Reilly & Wagner at WarGames this Sunday. The title bout was confirmed when O’Reilly & Wagner defeated Legado del Fantasma’s Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde in a number one contender’s match on NXT tonight.

This will be Imperium’s first title defense since becoming NXT Tag Team Champions. They won the titles from MSK in a Lumberjack-O’-Lantern match at Halloween Havoc last month.

Though O’Reilly was initially hesitant to form another tag team after the way that Undisputed Era broke up, his partnership with Wagner began to form following the premiere episode of NXT 2.0 this September. Wagner made his debut on that show and saved O’Reilly from an attack by Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland.

Here’s the updated card for NXT WarGames:

  • WarGames match: Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne & LA Knight vs. Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller & Tony D’Angelo
  • WarGames match: Io Shirai, Raquel Gonzalez, Cora Jade & Kay Lee Ray vs. Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne & Dakota Kai
  • Hair vs. hair match: Cameron Grimes vs. Duke Hudson
  • NXT Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong defends against Joe Gacy
  • NXT Tag Team Champions Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) defend against Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner

Ladder match, tag team contender’s bout set for next week’s WWE NXT

A pair of matches with NXT WarGames implications are set for next Tuesday’s episode of NXT

WWE has announced that a ladder match between Kay Lee Ray and Dakota Kai will take place on NXT next Tuesday. The winner will earn the WarGames entrance order advantage for their team.

Io Shirai, Raquel Gonzalez, Cora Jade & Kay Lee Ray are facing Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne & Kai in a WarGames match at NXT WarGames on Sunday, December 5.

A tag team number one contender’s match with Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner facing Legado del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde) has also been announced for next Tuesday’s NXT. The winning team will challenge Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) for the NXT Tag Team titles at NXT WarGames.

Barthel & Aichner won the NXT Tag Team titles from MSK at Halloween Havoc last month.

Next Tuesday’s NXT is the go-home show for NXT WarGames. “Joe Gacy’s all-inclusive invitational” will also take place on the episode. Gacy is challenging for Roderick Strong’s Cruiserweight Championship at NXT WarGames.

NXT’s Von Wagner appears on WWE SmackDown

Tonight’s SmackDown featured a brief appearance by a wrestler from NXT 2.0.

NXT’s Von Wagner appeared on tonight’s show during a backstage segment with Adam Pearce and Sami Zayn. Wagner wasn’t identified by name during the segment.

Wagner was in Pearce’s office when Zayn went in looking for Pearce. Zayn, who was calling himself the captain of SmackDown’s Survivor Series men’s team, wanted Jeff Hardy removed from the team for disrespecting him earlier in the show. Pearce instead made a match between Zayn and Hardy, with the loser being removed from the team.

Zayn lost his spot on Team SmackDown when he was defeated by Hardy. WWE hasn’t announced who will be replacing Zayn. The men’s traditional Survivor Series five-on-five elimination match will be Raw’s Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio & Bobby Lashley vs. SmackDown’s Drew McIntyre, Xavier Woods, Hardy, Baron Corbin, and a partner.

Wagner (real name Cal Bloom) signed with WWE in March 2019. He made his debut on the premiere episode of NXT 2.0 this September. Since then, he’s been teaming with Kyle O’Reilly.

Wagner played football at the University of Central Florida before signing with WWE. He’s the son of Wayne Bloom (former pro wrestler Beau Beverly).

Tag team match added to Tuesday’s WWE NXT

A tag team match has been added to this week’s episode of NXT.

Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner will face Legado del Fantasma’s Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde on NXT this Tuesday night. The match was announced after the two teams went back and forth on social media.

WWE posted a tweet over the weekend asking fans who they’d like to see be the first team to challenge for Imperium’s NXT Tag Team titles. When Wagner said he and O’Reilly should get the title match, Mendoza called Wagner out for wanting a title shot when he’s only been in NXT for “five minutes.”

O’Reilly responded by pointing out that he’s the only three-time Tag Team Champion in NXT history. Mendoza then tweeted that this isn’t 2018 anymore and Legado del Fantasma will show O’Reilly & Wagner who the best tag team right now is.

The partnership between O’Reilly & Wagner started to form after Wagner made the save for O’Reilly when he was attacked by Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland on the premiere of NXT 2.0 in September.

Imperium’s Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner won the NXT Tag Team titles by defeating MSK in a Lumberjack-O’-Lantern match at Halloween Havoc last week.

Here’s the updated lineup for this Tuesday’s NXT:

  • Johnny Gargano & Dexter Lumis vs. NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams
  • Kyle O’Reilly & Von Wagner vs. Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde
  • Tony D’Angelo will appear on Lashing Out with Lash Legend
  • Cameron Grimes will enter Duke Hudson’s Poker Room
  • Robert Stone has challenged Xyon Quinn to a match

Six debuts take place as part of WWE NXT 2.0 launch

Six debuts took place on NXT tonight as part of the launch of NXT 2.0.

The new look NXT made its debut tonight after being promoted for several weeks both on NXT and in WWE. Throughout the show several new names appeared on the program. They include:

  • Brooks Jensen, who teamed with Josh Briggs tonight in a losing effort against Imperium (Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner). Jensen is Ben Buchanan, the son of former WWE star Bull Buchanan. He was announced as having signed with WWE last month.
  • Trick Williams was introduced as a friend of Carmelo Hayes. During a promo, Hayes said that Williams would have his back going forward. Williams told Hayes that he was being too humble. Hayes agreed with Williams, declaring himself “The Chosen One”. After a confrontation with Duke Hudson as they were leaving, William and Hayes jumped Hudson from behind, laying him out. Williams is Matrick Belton, who has a football background and trained at the CZW Wrestling Academy. He signed with WWE in February of this year.
  • Tony D’Angeloappeared in a vignette and talked about being from Chicago. He said he had an amateur wrestling background, but there was no money in that. Rather, there was money in NXT. D’Angelo is Joe Ariola, who has an amateur wrestling background and wrestled for the University of Buffalo, qualifying for the NCAA tournament in 2016. He was also signed in February of this year.
  • Ivy Nile was introduced as the newest member of the Diamond Mine. She appeared in the background during a vignette last week, but made her TV debut tonight. She is Emily Andzulis, who competed in the first season of NBC’s The Titan Games. She was signed in January of 2020.

Also debuting on tonight’s show is Bron Breakker, aka Bronson Rechsteiner, son of Rick Steiner. He defeated LA Knight after challenging him in the opening minutes of tonight’s NXT. Von Wagner is Cal Bloom, son of former WWE and AWA star Wayne Bloom. He replaced Kyle O’Reilly in the fatal four way match to determine a new NXT Champion after O’Reilly was jumped backstage by Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland.

Tommaso Ciampa wins NXT Championship, Von Wagner debuts

More than two years after having to vacate the title, Tommaso Ciampa is once again NXT Champion.

Ciampa defeated LA Knight, Pete Dunne, and the debuting Von Wagner in a fatal four-way match on NXT tonight to win the NXT Championship. Ciampa pinned Knight after hitting the Fairytale Ending.

The NXT Championship was vacant going into tonight’s show. Samoa Joe had to relinquish the title over the weekend due to injury. Joe said he was stepping away from the ring for a “brief but still indeterminate” amount of time but would be back shortly to collect the NXT Championship from whoever won it.

Kyle O’Reilly was originally supposed to be in the fatal four-way match, but there was an angle on tonight’s show where he was attacked by Dunne and Ridge Holland in the locker room. NXT general manager William Regal announced that Wagner would be replacing O’Reilly in the match because he was the one who saved O’Reilly from Dunne and Holland.

The 6-foot-5 Wagner (real name Cal Bloom) is the son of Wayne Bloom (former wrestler Beau Beverly). Wagner played college football at the University of Central Florida. He signed with WWE in March 2019.

Ciampa previously held the NXT Championship from July 2018 to March 2019. He had to relinquish the title then due to undergoing neck surgery.

Tonight’s show ended with a backstage segment where Bron Breakker (Bronson Rechsteiner) congratulated Ciampa. Ciampa then congratulated Breakker on his first win in NXT. The two had a tense staredown as they shook hands and Breakker looked at Ciampa’s title belt.

Breakker made his NXT debut by defeating Knight earlier in tonight’s show. Breakker and Wagner’s debuts were part of the beginning of “NXT 2.0,” which is WWE’s revamp of the NXT brand.
