Impact notes: Sami Callihan signs new deal, Twitch replays, Ultimate X

– Sami Callihan has signed a new contract with Impact Wrestling.

Impact confirmed the news after it was reported by Wrestling Inc today. Wrestling Inc’s report noted that it’s a multi-year deal.

Callihan and Jake & Dave Crist have been in a program with Rich Swann and Willie Mack in Impact, with their storyline playing up history between Callihan and Swann as Callihan has tried to get Swann to join his oVe group.

– Impact also announced that — after premiering on Fridays — episodes of Impact will replay on Twitch at 6 p.m. Eastern on Mondays going forward. The show will be available on demand on the Global Wrestling Network on Tuesdays: “You asked for more ways to catch up on IMPACT. We’re listening, and we’re giving it to you. Beginning today, IMPACT replays on Twitch at 6 PM ET every Monday, and it’s available to everyone on demand on Global Wrestling Network every Tuesday.”

– Two more wrestlers have been added to the Ultimate X match at Impact’s United We Stand show in Rahway, New Jersey during WrestleMania week. AR Fox (as his character Dante Fox) will represent Lucha Underground. Pat Buck will represent WrestlePro.

Fox and Buck join Jake Crist (Impact), Kotto Brazil (MLW), and Jack Evans (AAA) in the Ultimate X match. Impact is hyping that the final wrestler in Ultimate X will be a “mystery opponent.”

United We Stand is in partnership with WrestlePro. It’s taking place at the Rahway Recreation Center at 11 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday, April 4 and will air as a pay-per-view on Fite TV.

Impact Wrestling to simulcast weekly on Twitch

Impact Wrestling has announced another way to watch their weekly television.

During Sunday night’s Homecoming pay-per-view, it was announced that Impact will be airing on both the Pursuit Channel and Twitch on Fridays at 10 p.m. Eastern time going forward. The simulcast will begin this Friday (January 11).

Impact is moving from Thursday to Friday nights starting this week, with the show staying in its later time slot and beginning at 10 p.m. Eastern. The time slot change went into effect in October.

Last week’s go-home show for Homecoming was the final episode of Impact on Pop TV. It was announced last month that Impact would be moving to the Pursuit Channel on television in the United States. Pursuit is a hunting/outdoors themed channel that Impact’s parent company has a minority investment in.

Impact’s Twitch channel launched in January 2018 and streams past and new content.

The first episode of Impact as part of the simulcast on Pursuit and Twitch will feature the fallout from Homecoming.

Impact Wrestling announces partnership with Twitch

Impact Wrestling officially announced a partnership with Twitch today, with the promotion set to launch a 24/7 channel on the service that will include exclusive content.

The press release that was issued notes that the channel will feature monthly live events and house shows, along with lifestyle programming that will showcase Impact wrestlers outside of the ring. The channel will launch on Wednesday, and Barbed Wire Massacre III, which was taped in Ottawa in November and pitted LAX & Homicide against OVE & Sami Callihan, will debut on Twitch on Thursday at 10 p.m. Eastern time.

Impact’s show at WrestleCon in New Orleans over WrestleMania weekend will air live on Twitch on April 6th.

Live Audio Wrestling, though mostly in name only, will be returning on Twitch and will air on Monday nights with Jeremy Borash as its host. Tyrus will host a show about pro wrestling, politics, sports, and pop culture on Wednesdays, and there will be a second-screen show with Josh Mathews during Impact on Thursdays.

Other programming will include classic content and the promotion’s Xplosion in-ring show.

AAA streaming show on Twitch to raise money for earthquake victims

The AAA promotion announced yesterday a late fund raising deal attempting to raise money for victims of the recent major earthquake in Mexico.

Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide will live stream its show tonight called “Ring and Rock Stars: Lucha for Mexico,” an event from the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya with the top two matches announced being Psycho Clown & Rey Escorpion vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. & Pagano, and Lady Shani vs. Hiedra.

The show starts at 9 p.m. Eastern time tonight and will air free on Twitch.

There will be a donation link on the broadcast and all money raised will go to the Save The Children Mexico.

“Mexico is a country very dear to us with many Twitch community members, industry partners, and staff based in and around Mexico City, ” said Christian Borneman, Director Latin America Twitch.

“Since we were very saddened by the devastation caused by the recent earthquake, we spoke with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, one of our most important partners in Mexico, to see if we could lend a hand. What we collectively decided was to host the livestream of their highly anticipated ‘Ring & Rock Stars: Lucha for Mexico’ event on Twitch in order to tap into our global audience. All of the donation proceeds from the airing will then go to Save the Children Mexico, a charity that supports child-focused disaster relief efforts.”
