WWE star makes surprise appearance during AAA Triplemania XXXIII main event

AJ Styles continues to break down forbidden doors this summer, following up his TNA Slammiversary appearance in July with a surprise appearance at Saturday’s AAA Triplemania.

The WWE star appeared during the four-way main event between Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo, Dragon Lee, Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano, costing Mysterio the match.

After Mysterio took out Americano and Lee with a loaded mask, he was about to pin Lee to win the title after a frog splash when a mysterious masked man appeared at ringside and pulled him off. The man then entered the ring and revealed himself to be Styles, much to Mysterio’s chagrin.

Styles then delivered a Styles Clash and left the reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion for dead, allowing Vikingo to hit the 630 for the pin and successful title defense.

The finish ended a dizzying several minute sequence that saw a load of interference from the back including Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, the LWO, Americano’s masked goons, and then Styles.

That was preceded by Vikingo getting put through the English announce table by Americano and Mysterio that knocked out the headset for several minutes. The two were then distracted and missed Lee jumping through the ropes with a tope that was a gateway to the chaos that would ensue.

It was the third successful defense for Vikingo in his second run as Mega champion and his first since June’s Triplemania.

It was an eventful night that saw several WWE stars make surprise appearances, two titles change hands, and the next Worlds Collide revealed for September 12th.
