WOL: Can WWE x AAA Worlds Collide compare to the 1994 version?

It’s Saturday and it’s time for Wrestling Observer Live with Jim Valley.

In a new interview, Shane McMahon dispelled rumors about his father’s future plans and what he’s doing these days. His most interesting comments may have been his claims about “building the business.” I discuss.

How close will today’s WWE x AAA Worlds Collide come to its legendary namesake from 31 years ago and will it even try?

Friday’s WWE SmackDown was a standard final build to tonight’s Money in the Bank. I preview the show.

Friday’s TNA Against All Odds saw the return of the former IIconics in The IInspiration. Are there too many meme wrestlers on the TNA roster?

All that and more await on a new WOL.

Opponents revealed for first IIconics tag match since 2022

The former IIconics are reuniting for a tag team match in April, and their opponents for the bout are now set.

Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay will team for the first time since 2022 at indie promotion Prestige Wrestling’s Thursday, April 17 Nothing to Lose event in Las Vegas, and the duo will face indie veterans Nicole Matthews and Kylie Rae as the wrestling world descends on Vegas for the kickoff of WrestleMania weekend.

Lee and McKay will wrestle as The IInspiration, the moniker they adopted for their post-WWE run that included capturing the TNA Knockouts Tag Team titles together in 2021. McKay has not wrestled since 2022, while Lee has not wrestled since 2023.

As Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, Lee and McKay won the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles at WrestleMania 35 in 2019. The duo were released by WWE in 2021 after a six-year run with the company between NXT and the main roster.

McKay and her husband welcomed their first child in 2023. Lee and husband Shawn Spears have two children, one born in 2023 and one in 2024.

Minoru Suzuki vs. Adam Priest, plus Michael Oku vs. El Phantasmo are also set for Prestige Wrestling Nothing to Lose on Thursday, April 17.

Former IIconics reuniting for first tag match since 2022

Cassie Lee & Jessica McKay — the duo formerly known as The IIconics — are reuniting for their first tag team match in three years.

Indie promotion Prestige Wrestling announced today that Lee (the former Peyton Royce) & McKay (Billie Kay) will team up at their event in Las Vegas on April 17. The show, titled Nothing to Lose, is happening on the Thursday of WrestleMania week.

Opponents for Lee & McKay have not been named yet.

The two are former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and later held Knockouts Tag Team gold for Impact Wrestling. While with Impact, they were known as The IInspiration. They are again using that name for this Prestige match.

In 2022, Lee and McKay announced that they were indefinitely stepping away from wrestling to focus on other opportunities. This will be the first time McKay has wrestled since then. Lee worked a tour of matches for World Series Wrestling in Australia in 2023.

Lee and McKay have both become mothers in recent years with Lee & Shawn Spears having two boys and McKay and her husband welcoming their first son.
