PWG gives update on status of promotion

In a social media post overnight, PWG gave an update on the status of the promotion.

PWG owner Super Dragon explained that there haven’t been many PWG events this year because his girlfriend is battling an aggressive form of cancer. Because of that, it’s been difficult for him to focus on anything else. Things have recently taken a turn for the worse and Super Dragon needs to take some time away from pro wrestling.

Super Dragon noted that there will be no more PWG shows for the remainder of 2023. The promotion will return “as soon as possible in 2024.”

I know a lot of you have been wondering what is going on with PWG and why there haven’t been many events this year. My girlfriend has been very sick and battling an aggressive cancer since earlier this year. It’s been incredibly difficult for me to focus on anything else.

Recently things took a turn for the worse, and I need to take some time away from wrestling. There will be no more PWG events this year. We will return as soon as possible in 2024. Thank you for all your support.

“My thoughts are with Danny and girlfriend, he’s always been good to me & I’m thinking of them,” Joey Janela responded.

Battle of Los Angeles 2023 nights one and two and Mystery Vortex 2023 are the only PWG events that have taken place this year. Those shows were held in January and August.

Two surprise appearances at PWG Mystery Vortex 7

A major angle took place at the end of tonight’s PWG Mystery Vortex 7 event that set up possible matches for next month’s Threemendous VI.

The angle had Super Dragon making an appearance, attacking PWG World Champion Bandido, who was already laid out by Black Taurus and Demonic Flamita. After Brody King and Malakai Black made the save for Bandido, he issued a challenge to Super Dragon. Black asked King if he was bust on September 26, the night of Threemendous. King said he wasn’t.

Dragon, one of the founders of PWG, has not wrestled since 2015, when a new version of the Mount Rushmore stable consisting of himself, The Young Bucks, and Roderick Strong, defeated Angelico, Fenix, Rich Swann, and Ricochet.

Tonight’s card consisted of matches that were not announced prior to the start of the show. In the main event, Bandido retained the PWG World Championship after defeating Taurus. Notable names that appeared on the card included Orange Cassidy,  Evil Uno, Jonathan Gresham, JD Drake, Tony Deppen, and Trey Miguel.
