Former AEW wrestler Sadie Gibbs announces return to the ring

Former AEW wrestler Sadie Gibbs has announced she is returning to the ring.

Gibbs hasn’t wrestled since an episode of Dark on October 30, 2019. The UK native was released from AEW in August 2020 at a time when travel restrictions prevented her from working shows for the company.

She then announced her retirement on April 26, 2021, saying she wanted to focus on her fitness career.

Gibbs wrote in a social media post on Thursday that she will be partnering with Envigor Media to produce a documentary on her return.

She wrote:

SO IT HAS BEEN FAR TO LONG!

But I can’t get this chapter of my life, out my heart!I will be doing a documentary on my RETURN (yup I said it my RETURN) with @envigormedia

Truth is the pandemic (which end of 2022 only really started to feel like life was free to grasp again) took its effects on all on us one way or another for me I think without knowing it (I had another journey to take) in the last two years I’ve had a a couple of opps one where I had a 5cm inactive tumour (known as a dermoid) removed from my right ovary and endometriosis also diagnosed and removed.

I started suffering with sideeffects of this in my first year of being with AEW having vagal syncopes randomly and dangerously low blood pressure drops during these episodes.

Basically LIFE Happens! And TIME is needed where HEALING can occur my journey in wrestling all happened so fast it was one hell of a rollercoaster including my first ever major family loss (as many know about) then being signed one week prior to the funeral ❤️‍ a year later planing my move to the STATES all packed ready to leave & we hit our first national lockdown ” it’s fine be over in a few months” 6 months later no change and my release took place from @aew a contact I gave my heart and soul to gain! But if I’m being honest I wasn’t ready for it,but that’s another thing are we ever truly ready for what life throws at us? No we level up and grow despite what healing needed to take place inbetween we suck it up and know how blessed we are to have the opportunity.

I’ve been toying with the thought of getting back wrestling (I honestly feel like I went through a breakup with the business, and my craft that I worked so hard to create to that point ) I shut it out and got on with life SURVIVAL INSTINCT!and embarked on a journey which has now brought me back to this point! THE TRUTH! I’ve never stopped talking about performing the art of wrestling and everyone always says I have so much passion when I do. But it’s something I suppressed and I’ve never thought I’d say this about myself but the path back looked harder than the path away so I guess I just rolled over and called it retired.Let the hard work begin….

Gibbs only wrestled three matches with AEW before her release including the 2019 Casino Battle Royal. She wrestled in a four-way match with Emi Sakura, Allie, and Penelope Ford on the October 23, 2019, AEW Dark episode. Gibbs then teamed with Allie and defeated Big Swole and Mercedes Martinez the following week.

Prior to signing with AEW, Gibbs wrestled a tour for Stardom in January 2019. Our own Dave Meltzer wrote at the time that while inexperienced, she managed to get over with live crowds due to her gymnastics and athletic ability. Her only singles match on the tour was a ten-minute time-limit draw with Jamie Hayter.

Sadie Gibbs announces retirement from pro wrestling

Sadie Gibbs has announced she is retiring from professional wrestling.

Gibbs, who at one point was under AEW contract, announced her retirement on Instagram, saying that she was going to focus on coaching, speaking, and teaching.

She wrote the following:

Hope you can watch this & minute showreel!

Of all my best moments and show your love and support in the comments below. Letting go is never easy but it’s necessary.

It’s been a really confusing year and half for me, but I’ve always been good at following my instinct and letting go AND HAVING NOTHING BUT GRACE IN THE PATH AHEAD OF ME.

I’ve decided in order for me to excel in my new endeavours, coaching speaking teaching BEING THE LEADER which I’ve always been.

I have to let go! And set my intentions on what it is I want from my life and where I see long term sustainable fulfilment.

And those doors are opening and it’s about time I conserved all my energy and focus on this new chapter.

Gibbs entered pro wrestling in 2017, wrestling in the United Kingdom and also working dates for Stardom. In 2019, she was signed to AEW and made an appearance at the Casino Battle Royale at All Out 2019, as well as several episodes of Dark. However, she was released in August of this past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic making travel difficult for international wrestlers.

Big Swole and Sadie Gibbs added to AEW Casino Battle Royale

Two more entrants have been confirmed for the women’s Casino Battle Royale at All Out.

AEW announced today that Big Swole (Aerial Monroe) and Sadie Gibbs will be taking part in the Casino Battle Royale. The match will be part of the All Out pre-show on Saturday, August 31.

Monroe is an Air Force veteran who is from Clearwater, Florida. She participated in WWE’s Mae Young Classic last year, losing to Zeuxis in the first round.

Gibbs is signed to AEW and will be having her first match for the promotion at All Out. She’s from the United Kingdom and debuted for Stardom earlier this year.

The winner of the Casino Battle Royale will advance to the match to crown the inaugural AEW Women’s Champion, which is taking place on AEW’s TNT premiere on Wednesday, October 2.

There will be 21 entrants in the Casino Battle Royale, including members of the roster and others who aren’t signed with the company. It will begin with five wrestlers in the ring, with groups of five entering every three minutes after that. The 21st wrestler will then enter on their own.

Teal Piper, Ivelisse, and Jazz have officially been announced for the battle royal, with Nyla Rose, Britt Baker, Yuka Sakazaki, Allie, and Brandi Rhodes also mentioned as being entrants.

Sadie Gibbs signs with All Elite Wrestling

United Kingdom wrestler Sadie Gibbs is the newest member of the women’s division signed to All Elite Wrestling.

Gibbs, 26, has been wrestling on the U.K. scene and got strong reviews for her in-ring work in Stardom in January.

Gibbs is still inexperienced, but she clearly is a great athlete and got over with the Japanese crowd with moves based on her gymnastics ability, and in particular, a Space Flying Tiger Drop spot she used on several occasions.

Her background includes not only gymnastics, but track and field, bikini figures competition, and CrossFit.

There were mixed reactions to her in Stardom but they noted she got over well with the fans. She had two championship matches lined up on her recent tour, but her time on the tour was cut short when she returned to the U.K. due to the death of her grandfather.

Britt Baker vs. Nyla Rose vs. Kylie Rae is set for Double or Nothing on May 25, with Aja Kong and Yuka Sakazaki also announced for that show. Bea Priestley will debut at Fight for the Fallen on July 13.
