Wrestler returns from injury during ROH television tapings

Nick Wayne is back.

The ROH Television Champion made his return during Saturday’s Ring of Honor tapings, defeating Lucas Riley in a Proving Ground match. He was accompanied by Mother Wayne and Kip Sabian and had been out of action since July recovering from a broken foot.

Despite being gone for so long, Tony Khan chose not to create an interim Television Champion during Wayne’s injury. He did note in December that if he had known how long Wayne was going to be out, he might have chosen the interim title route, similar to when ROH Women’s Television Champion Red Velvet was out of action.

Here are the complete spoilers for ROH courtesy of PWInsider:

  • Jay Lethal defeated Tommy Billington
  • Satnam Singh defeated an unnamed local
  • TMDK (Shane Haste & Bad Dude Tito) defeated The Frat House (Griff Garrison & Cole Carter)

Kyle Fletcher wins Television title at ROH Final Battle

A new Television Champion was crowned at ROH Final Battle.

Kyle Fletcher is the new ROH Television Champion after winning the Survival of the Fittest elimination match. The final two participants were Fletcher and Komander, with Komander getting a nearfall after hitting a 450 splash. Fletcher cut off Komander in the corner and hit the hammerlock tombstone for the win, winning the title for the first time.

The ROH Television Championship was vacated by Samoa Joe back on the November 8 edition of AEW Dynamite, with Joe saying he wanted to focus on winning the AEW World Championship. Tony Khan later announced that a Survival of the Fittest six-man elimination match would take place at Final Battle, with qualifying matches taking place on ROH’s TV show on Honor Club. Lee Moriarty, Dalton Castle, Lee Johnson, and Komander qualified ahead of Final Battle. Bryan Keith became the last participant to qualify at ROH Final Battle Zero Hour, defeating Jack Cartwheel.

Fletcher has recently branched out as a singles wrestler after his tag team partner Mark Davis suffered a wrist injury at AEW WrestleDream in October. Fletcher has since aligned himself with the Don Callis Family stable.

Tony Khan will address vacant TV title on next week’s Ring of Honor

Tony Khan will have an update on the vacant ROH World Television Championship on next week’s Ring of Honor TV.

It was announced during this week’s edition of Ring of Honor TV on Honor Club that ROH’s owner will address the title vacated by Samoa Joe on the Thursday, November 16 episode.

Joe defeated Keith Lee in what turned out to be his final defense of the ROH World Television Championship on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show, then announced that he was vacating the title in order to pursue the AEW World Championship currently held by MJF.

With a reign stretching from April 13, 2022 until November 8, 2023, Joe set the record for longest single ROH TV title reign at 574 days. Both Jay Lethal and Dragon Lee held the title for more days overall but combined over multiple reigns.

Eddie Edwards was the first ROH World Television Champion, winning a tournament final after the title was established in 2010.
