Report: Former TNA creative team member RD Evans now working for AEW

RD Evans didn’t take long to find a new gig.

Evans resigned from his position at TNA Wrestling last month around the same time the company laid off Creative Director David Sahadi and Vice President of Marketing Lou D’Angeli. According to a report from PWInsider, Evans was backstage working for AEW at Collision on Saturday and is expected back at AEW Dynamite tonight. He was also reportedly working on backstage segments throughout the weekend as well.

Evans had been part of the TNA creative team since October 2019. Before that, he was a WWE creative team member from 2016 up until a famous backstage incident at the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Vince McMahon is said to have been yelling at Evans after Bret Hart mentioned McMahon by name during his speech, which inductees are told not to do. Evans quit on the spot. He would later issue an official statement in regards to the incident on the same notes tab he keeps his grocery list:

Evans also portrayed the characters Archibald Peck and Mixed Martial Archie in ROH, Chikara, and other promotions during his in-ring career.

TNA Wrestling undergoing creative & live event team changes following resignation, layoffs

TNA Wrestling will undergo some changes in both their creative and live events teams following the resignation of one person and the layoffs of others.

Dave Meltzer first reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Robert “RD” Evans had resigned this week with PWInsider later reporting that the relationship between the defacto head of creative and TNA had “grown strained in recent weeks” which had left Evans frustrated.

PWInsider also reported that Dave Sahadi is gone after being laid off. Sahadi was the company’s creative director starting in 2019 and also worked for the prior TNA ownership for 18 years as their director of broadcasts. Sahadi also worked as creative director for WWE in his past.

It’s unknown as of now who is taking over as the lead of creative and how those spots will be filled.

The outlet also reported other layoffs in the live events group as part of restructuring efforts, but no specific names were attached, nor a succession plan.

TNA has a busy schedule through the first weekend of August with several TV tapings, their Against All Odds streaming special and July’s Slammiversary pay-per-view. Their next show is in two weeks in Chicago.
