Report: Andrade no longer wrestling at WWC event

Andrade is in Puerto Rico, but won’t be at WWC’s event.

Both Lucha Libre Online and Fightful Select are reporting that while Andrade is in the country for Saturday’s WWC event, he will not be wrestling due to his ongoing contract situation with WWE. Fightful was told that he was doing whatever else he could do to make good for the booking, which was announced prior his contract situation with WWE taking place.

Earlier in October, Andrade made a shock return to AEW after being fired from WWE a month prior, attacking Kenny Omega and joining the Don Callis Family. However, he vanished from television soon after, with no word as to why. However, reports in the last week indicate that a new TKO non-compete clause could keep Andrade out for a year due to being fired for cause.

When asked about Andrade’s status with AEW during the AEW WrestleDream media call, Tony Khan didn’t directly answer the question and instead said he was excited to see what’s next for him.

Andrade’s first and only match so far post-WWE was when he won The Crash’s Heavyweight title on October 3. A match between him and LA Park was announced for October 26, but it is no longer being advertised.

LWO members get matching tattoos ahead of WWE Backlash

Members of the Latino World Order got matching tattoos ahead of Saturday’s Backlash event in Puerto Rico.

WWE’s social media showed a short video of Rey Mysterio, Zelina Vega, Cruz Del Toro, Santos Escobar, and Joaquin Wilde all getting matching tattoos of the LWO logo.

On Twitter, Escobar showed a picture of the new tattoo:

Members of the LWO are in action Saturday at Backlash. Zelina Vega will challenge Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Bad Bunny, who wore a LWO shirt on SmackDown on Friday, will face off against Damian Priest in a San Juan Street Fight.

The LWO, which originally was a stable in WCW between 1998 and 1999, was resurrected just prior to WrestleMania, when Rey Mysterio gave Legado Del Fantasma LWO t-shirts. Since then, the stable has feuded with The Judgment Day, with Mysterio and Vega teaming up to defeat Dominik Mysterio and Ripley on SmackDown Friday.

WWE to receive $1.8 million in Puerto Rico tourism subsidies to host Backlash

WWE will receive $1.8 million in subsidies from Puerto Rico tourism groups to hold May’s Backlash in San Juan.

Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported the news Friday via information from Mariela Vallines, the executive director of the Puerto Rico Conventions District Authority.

According to Thurston, the breakout is a $1.5 million subsidy and a non-monetary “in kind contribution” of $300,000 to hold the Saturday, May 6th pay-per-view/premium live event.

The $300,000 will cover use of the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot.

Vallines also noted that while there was no bidding process to host Backlash, she is under the understanding other cities were interested.

On past WWE investors calls, CEO Nick Khan had said to expect the company to earn more site fees for bringing events to cities, similar to the process with the Cardiff, Wales, government for last September’s Clash at the Castle.

Popular musician and past WWE wrestler Bad Bunny will host the event which will be preceded by SmackDown the night before in the same city and venue. It will be their first trip to Puerto Rico for an event like this since 2005’s New Year’s Revolution.
