Jay White confirms he’s out of action with a broken hand

Jay White has provided an update on his status.

During AEW Collision, he confirmed in an interview that he is suffering from a broken hand and as a result is out of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. He addressed his replacement Kevin Knight, saying maybe he spoke too soon when he said this wasn’t Knight’s year in the tournament. He also briefly mentioned Will Ospreay, who he would have faced in the opening round. White finished his promo saying the Death Riders will regret ever crossing him.

While revealing the bracket for the men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament on Dynamite, they announced that White was pulled from the tournament due to injury as a result of an attack by the Death Riders. When Fightful Select first reported the injury, it was expected he would undergo surgery.

“I heard that Jay White was injured,” Bryan Alvarez added on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. “I guess surgery, I just heard it was not expected he was going to be out a really long time, whatever that means. But he’s out, it’s a legitimate injury.”

Knight vs. Ospreay, Brody King vs. Konosuke Takeshita, Mark Briscoe vs. Kyle Fletcher, and Hangman Page vs. a wildcard opponent are the first-round matchups in the tournament.
