NXT UK TV taping spoilers: Tag Team title tournament begins

NXT UK were at the Olympia in Liverpool, England today for television tapings.

In a dark match, Xia Brookside defeated Nina Samuels

– Sid Scala came out and introduced NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint. He introduces Triple H, who is live via video. He announces NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool in January.

Toni Storm came out and said that because she won the Mae Young Classic, she gets to choose a title shot of her choosing. She picks the NXT UK Women’s title, held by Rhea Ripley. Saint confirms the match for TakeOver.

Jordan Devlin defeated Kenny Williams.

Eddie Dennis defeated Dan Moloney by DQ.

Dave Mastiff ran in for the DQ. He then attacked Moloney, leveling him with the cannonball.

Tyson T-Bone and Saxon Huxley defeated Tucker and Jack Starz

– T-Bone pinned Starz following a double team.

Joe Coffey defeated Ligero.

Marcel Barthel defeated Mark Andrews

– Barthel beat Andrews thanks to interference from Fabian Aichner. The two shook hands afterwards, seemingly forming a team.

Zack Gibson and James Drake defeated Wild Boar and Primate

– Gibson pinned Boar. He cut a promo after the match and mentioned the NXT UK tag team titles.

– Dave Mastiff and Josh Morell never started. Eddie Dennis came in and took out Morrell.

Rhea Ripley defeated Deonna Purrazzo to retain the NXT Women’s title.

– Ripley attacked Purrazzo after the match. Storm ran in for the save.

Travis Banks defeated Jamie Ahmed

– Jordan Devlin came out after the match and berated Banks, saying that he was the wrestling journeyman who abandoned his home. 

Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner defeated Kenny Williams and Amir Jordan.

Jinny defeated Candy Floss.

NXT UK Tag Team title tournament semi-final: Moustache Mountain defeated Mark Coffey and Wolfgang

– Trent Seven pinned Mark Coffey to advance to the finals. It seems likely the other semi-final will be taped on tomorrow’s show. The finals will be at TakeOver on January 12.

– All three of Gallus attacked British Strong Style, but they made a comeback and cleared the ring. Gallus vs. British Strong Style is set for tomorrow’s taping. 

Pete Dunne vs. Joe Coffey for the NXT UK title was also confirmed for TakeOver: Blackpool.

Here are results from NXT UK’s second night of action in Plymouth.

Triple H came out and introduced NXT UK General Manager Johnny Saint. They unveiled the new NXT UK tag team titles.

Mark Coffey and Wolfgang defeated Ashton Smith and Ligero

– Coffey pinned Smith.

Joseph Conners defeated Jack Starz.

Jinny defeated Xia Brookside.

James Drake and Zack Gibson cut a promo in the ring. The gist of it was wanting a shot at the NXT UK tag team titles.

Dave Mastiff defeated Eddie Dennis.

Jordan Devlin defeated Mike Hitchman.

Moustache Mountain defeated Tyson T-Bone and Saxon Huxley

– Trent Seven pinned Huxley.

Rhea Ripley defeated Isla Dawn to retain the NXT UK Women’s title.

Toni Storm defeated Charlie Morgan.

James Drake and Zack Gibson defeated Flash Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews

– Gibson made Andrews submit after Fabian Aichner came in to interfere. Aichner continued to beat down on Andrews until Webster made the save.

Nina Samuels defeated Killer Kelly.

Joe Coffey defeated Travis Banks.

– After the match, Mark Coffey and Wolfgang ran in for the attack. Moustache Mountain came in and ended up turning into a six man tag, which may end up being a dark match.

Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and Travis Banks defeated Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey and Wolfgang.

– Pete Dunne came out following a ref bump. HBK came out as the new referee and counted the pin. 

After the match, all of the heels were laid out by HBK’s sweet chin music. Dunne made a speech as everyone posed together, closing out the show.

WWE unveils NXT UK Women’s Championship title belt

With the inaugural champion being crowned this weekend, WWE has unveiled the design for the NXT United Kingdom Women’s Championship.

The title was shown to the audience at today’s NXT UK television tapings in Birmingham, England. It appears to be similar to the men’s UK title but with a white strap instead of a black one.

The first NXT UK Women’s Champion is being decided in a two-day, eight-woman tournament this weekend. Toni Storm, Jinny, Dakota Kai, Rhea Ripley, Xia Brookside, Isla Dawn, Millie McKenzie, and Nina Samuels are the participants in it.

WWE has yet to announce when and where the NXT UK series will be airing.

This weekend’s tapings are taking place at NEC Birmingham as part of the Insomnia gaming festival, and 2K Sports announced today that UK Champion Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate will be part of the roster for WWE 2K19. 2K also released video of Dunne and Bate’s entrances for the game.
