NXT UK results: Noam Dar vs. Mark Coffey Heritage Cup title match

Taped at BT Sport Studios in London, England

Xia Brookside defeated Amale

Amale dominated early. She caught Brookside off a body press and slammed her before getting a near fall with a suplex. Brookside foiled a corner attack, then stomped Amale. Brookside kept up her offense and locked in a Camel Clutch, which Amale eventually broke.

They traded strikes, with Amale getting the better of the exchange. “The French Hope” hit a Northern Lights suplex on Brookside for another two count. Brookside countered the Hopebreaker into a sunset flip and leg submission.

Brookside evaded a running knee in the corner but still ate one at ringside against the barricades. As Amale stood by the barricades, she suddenly was yanked against the barrier by the hair by an unknown woman (Lizzy Evo, a notable name on the UK indie scene), who also clotheslined Amale before vanishing into the crowd. Brookside then hit Broken Wings for the pinfall victory.

The woman then joined Brookside in the ring for a celebration.

– Isla Dawn cut a creepy promo on Meiko Satomura. Dawn had the NXT UK Women’s Championship belt that she stole and basically said she was holding it hostage until Satomura gave her what she wanted. Dawn never said what that was.

– A video hyped next week’s NXT UK Championship match between Ilja Dragunov and Roderick Strong, with a number of NXT UK talent giving their thoughts on the bout.

NXT UK Tag Team champion Trent Seven (w/ Tyler Bate) defeated Ashton Smith (w/ Oliver Carter)

The two traded power spots early until Seven got an early two count after a leg drop. Smith escaped an attempted Cobra Clutch, then hit a huge powerslam, a Snake Eyes, and a running shoulder block for a two count of his own.

Smith caught Seven coming off the top rope, then hoisted him up into a vertical suplex in a vulgar display of power. Seven came back with a huge superplex, but he couldn’t get the win with the subsequent pin.

Smith hit a clothesline after evading the Seven Star Lariat. Seven countered a sunset flip into one of his own and grabbed the ropes, which Tyler Bate disapproved of, so he let go. Seven then scored the pin with a handful of tights, which Bate also visibly was not happy about.

– A-Kid talked about facing Teoman soon.

– Wild Boar vowed to get his hands on Eddie Dennis.

– Moustache Mountain and Smith & Carter argued about the match result backstage. Sid Scala turned up and said they’d settle the issue in his office next week.

Tate Mayfairs defeated Kenny Williams by countout

Williams repeatedly refused to finish the match, pulling Mayfairs up from pinfalls. Eventually, Mayfairs laid motionless on the mat when Sam Gradwell appeared from under the ring. Gradwell chased Williams off and rolled Mayfairs into the ring, allowing Mayfairs to win by countout.

– Wolfgang talked about Mark Coffey being ready for his Heritage Cup match against Noam Dar tonight. Die Familie appeared and talked trash to Wolfgang. Charlie Dempsey then challenged him to a match, which will happen next week.

– Ilja Dragunov and Roderick Strong had a sit-down interview ahead of their title match next Thursday. This was really great. Strong said he respects Dragunov and Dragunov is at the top of his list. Strong said he’s held many titles but also lost them — and nothing pained him more than saying he “was” a champion. Dragunov has never experienced that with the NXT UK title — and Strong would be interested to see how Dragunov bounced back from that. Dragunov vowed that he won’t be the one losing.

NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship match: Noam Dar (w/ Sha Samuels) retained against Mark Coffey (w/ Joe Coffey) two falls to one in round five

Round One —

The round was pretty even. Dar drank from a hip flask that Samuels handed him. Dar used submissions late in the round as the clock ran out.

Round Two —

They went back and forth and Dar caught Coffey with a small package at 1:10 of the round. Dar 1-0

Round Three —

Coffey was dominant and scored a pin at 1:25 of the round after hitting an enzuigiri as Dar came off the ropes. Coffey 1-1

Round Four —

Coffey dominated the whole round until Dar caught him with the kneebar very late. Coffey was saved by the bell as he was writhing in pain.

Round Five —

Dar attacked early but was quickly overwhelmed. Coffey applied a Gator Lock and Dar looked like he was about to tap, but Samuels got on the apron and distracted Coffey. Joe Coffey also got in the ring. And as the referee was looking to restore order, Dar hit the Nova Roller for the deciding pinfall at 1:38 of the round to win 2-1.

Final Thoughts —

The main event was good, as basically always is the case when Noam Dar wrestles. Trent Seven vs. Ashton Smith was really good, with the gradual turn of Seven who cheats out of despair continuing. The debut of Lizzy Evo adds to Xia Brookside’s character, and the Sam Gradwell/Kenny Williams feud also got extended. More of a building block show for the future.

NXT UK results: Meiko Satomura vs. Isla Dawn Women’s title match

Taped at BT Sports Studios in London, England

Die Familie (Charlie Dempsey & Rohan Raja) beat A-Kid & Saxon Huxley (08:25)

A-Kid and Dempsey started out and picked up where they left off in their last singles match. Both tagged out and Huxley slammed Raja to start things off but missed an elbow drop.

Dempsey and A-Kid met again with Dempsey gaining the upper hand. Raja and Dempsey worked over A-Kid in their corner and quickly tagged in and out to prevent A-Kid from tagging in Huxley.

A-Kid finally hit a dropkick on Dempsey in the corner, then evaded Raja to get Huxley back in the match. Huxley ran wild, then scored a near fall with a Thesz Press on Dempsey.

Dempsey got on a double wristlock before both tagged out again. A-Kid dropped Raja with a German suplex before double-teaming Raja with his new partner. As they looked to put Raja away, Teoman pulled A-Kid off the top rope, then shoved him into the stairs, allowing Raja to hit Seek and Destroy on Huxley for the pinfall victory.

Wild Boar pinned T-Bone (04:38)

Boar came through the crowd and attacked all three members of Symbiosis before the match.

T-Bone briefly dominated, but Boar came back and ran wild. A distraction by Primate allowed T-Bone to take over at ringside. T-Bone attacked Boar’s previously injured knee, then got a near fall off a vertical suplex.

Boar eventually came back with a spear into the corner and a DDT for the win.

After the match, Boar chased Dennis backstage.

NXT UK Women’s Championship: Meiko Satomura (c) defeated Isla Dawn to retain the title (08:04)

Dawn pushed Meiko’s face away and received forearms and leg kicks for an answer. She then quickly tied up and choked Satomura in the ropes. The champ came back with a number of kicks, leading to a near fall.

Dawn dominated an exchange at ringside, then scored a two count of her own. She followed with a chinlock but Meiko eventually escaped. Dawn kept the pressure up with more kicks and a double knee press.

Meiko came back with more strikes and a backdrop driver that almost won her the match. She followed with a frog splash, but Dawn got her knees up. Dawn followed with a fisherman’s suplex, but Meiko narrowly kicked out.

Dawn missed a top rope kick, then got hit with a Pele kick and dropped with a Death Valley Driver for another super close near fall. Isla got hit with a DDT, but evaded a handspring kneedrop.

Isla had Meiko on her shoulders, but the champion escaped and used a unique pinning combination to win the match.

After the match, Dawn stole the title belt and was being creepy with it.

Final Thoughts —

A fun show with nothing really standing out as spectacular.

The main event was good in the latter stages and the opener was good for brief periods when A-Kid and Dempsey were in with each other.

The Devlin match was a glorified squash and Wild Boar’s return match felt more like an angle to build up more matches with Symbiosis.

Next week —

  • NXT UK Heritage Cup: Noam Dar (c) vs. Mark Coffey
  • Trent Seven vs. Ashton Smith
  • Amale vs. Xia Brookside

In two weeks —

NXT UK results: Roderick Strong vs. Wolfgang

Taped at BT Sport Studios in London, England

A larger contingent of fans was back at BT Studios for this set of tapings.

Oliver Carter (w/ Ashton Smith) defeated Tyler Bate (w/ Trent Seven) (10:08)

The two teams agreed last week that they would meet in singles matches. If Smith and Carter win both, they’ll get another shot at Moustache Mountain’s NXT UK Tag Team titles.

Carter and Bate traded holds and counters early on, then transitioned into quick pinfall attempts. Carter took over with a number of kicks and got another two count before Bate dropkicked him out of the ring.

Back inside, Bate tried controlling Smith with a waistlock but ended up getting floored with a dropkick from the top before Carter went for more pins. Bate eventually caught him and hit an exploder, followed by a running Shooting Star Press for a two count of his own.

Bate took Carter up for an Airplane Spin, dropped him on his knees, and locked in an abdominal stretch and then an octopus hold, but Carter made the ropes. Carter escaped both a Tyler Driver ’97 and a German suplex attempt, then went on offense and hit a full nelson slam into a backbreaker for two.

They traded rolling koppu kicks. Bate hit the rope-assisted lariat and went for Tyler Driver ’97 once more, but Smith countered it into a hurricanrana for a close two count.

Bate was sitting on the top rope when Smith and Seven got into it at ringside and Seven shoved Smith into the steps. Bate managed to throw off Carter, who was looking to use the distraction. Bate then went for a flying European uppercut but was still distracted by the bickering at ringside, allowing Carter to turn the attack into a backslide for the somewhat upset of a win.

– A-Kid encountered a raving Saxon Huxley backstage as Huxley was in the middle of a photo shoot. A-Kid asked him to be his tag team partner against Die Familie — and Huxley eventually agreed.

– Wild Boar was in a video segment, swearing to bring revenge and everything he suffered through during the past year to Symbiosis.

Emilia McKenzie defeated Nina Samuels (8:45)

They went back and forth with wristlocks and grappling on the mat early on. McKenzie eventually hit a hurricanrana off the middle rope, but Samuels took back over.

Samuels locked in a kneeling abdominal stretch, but McKenzie eventually powered out and came back with a back suplex. Samuels dropkicked her into the ropes from behind, leading to a nearfall.

McKenzie hit a German suplex, which prompted Samuels to roll out of the ring. McKenzie followed up with a dive through the ropes, but — back in the ring — was promptly thrown off the top rope by the hair. Samuels then missed a top rope moonsault, allowing McKenzie to hit a spear to gain the pinfall victory.

– Mark Coffey came out of Sid Scala’s office, then revealed to his brother Joe that Mark would receive a Heritage Cup title match against Noam Dar.

– Kenny Williams found a note on his locker reading “You’ve made a lot of enemies” and “Tick Tock.” The note either came from Sam Gradwell, whose mohawk he cut off a few weeks ago, or someone found some old scribblings of Karrion Kross.

– Eddie Dennis and the rest of Symbiosis went into Scala’s office as they had been asked to. Scala revealed that Wild Boar requested a match with Dennis, who replied that he was pretty much a manager these days. Dennis suggested that Boar take on either T-Bone or Primate. Scala said he had to make a call.

Stevie Turner defeated Aleah James (4:10)

After Turner took her down with shoulderblocks, James quickly came back with a dropkick, a Matrix bridge, and more innovative offense. Turner retaliated with a kick to the face and a chinlock.

James made a comeback with running crossbodys before getting almost pinned after a jumping uranage. Suddenly, James came back with a bridging O’Connor Roll for the flash pin.

– Sha Samuels had the odds for the Dar vs. Mark Coffey Heritage Cup title match on a whiteboard. Dar complained about having to face Coffey. Someone called and bet on Mark winning, and Samuels excitedly told them he’d up the odds for that as he and Dar snickered.

– A video recapped the past and recent history between NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura and Isla Dawn. Dawn said the version of her that Satomura defeated in her very first match in NXT UK is gone and she has collected all the trinkets she needs over the past few months. Dawn said she’ll take Satomura’s title, while Satomura said she can not lose. The two will meet in a title match next week.

Roderick Strong defeated Wolfgang (9:50)

Strong got under Wolfgang’s skin before the match started, then kept evading the big Scot and repeatedly fled to ringside. Wolfgang eventually caught him in a headlock, then hit an overhead, judo-style suplex.

Wolfgang manhandled Strong around the ring, leading to Strong stumbling to ringside once more. Strong used some questionable tactics to regain the upper hand and hit a stomp over the ropes.

Strong kept grinding down Wolfgang, working over his back and neck. Wolfgang made it back to his feet, threw Strong into the corner, and hit another hip toss. He went up top and came down on Strong with a double axe handle. They went back and forth until Wolfgang hit another suplex but missed a spear into the corner. Strong then hit a running knee right to Wolfgang’s face to score the win. Strong was bleeding above the right eye by the end of the match.

Strong got on the mic after the match, saying that he’s not here for a long time but for a good time and he’s looking for the big fight. He called out NXT UK Champion Ilja Dragunov, stating the ball is in Dragunov’s court.

Final Thoughts —

The opener was really good. People know Bate is excellent, but they shouldn’t sleep on Carter, who is also a tremendous and entertaining wrestler.

McKenzie vs. Samuels was another good match, with Samuels looking better than she has in recent months. James vs. Turner was alright. James has charisma but seems a bit overexcited at times and isn’t as crisp as she could be yet.

The main event was fun, even though Strong didn’t look as much a killer as he probably should when calling out the champion. Strong vs. Dragunov should be very good. though.

NXT UK results: Noam Dar vs. Joe Coffey Heritage Cup title match

Taped at BT Sport Studios in London, England

– Noam Dar and Joe Coffey talked about their Heritage Cup Championship match tonight. Coffey said it will be his first match under Heritage Cup rules.

– Charlie Dempsey was asked about where Die Familie was. He said he didn’t need them for this match — it’s just A-Kid and him.

Charlie Dempsey defeated A-Kid by submission (12:30)

Both men were looking to grapple early. They traded armbars, wristlocks, and hammerlocks on the mat. A-Kid and Dempsey each displayed their prowess of mat wrestling with holds, counter-holds, and escapes.

At one point, Dempsey got into a bridging position on his head. Even when A-Kid stood on top of him, he couldn’t break Dempsey’s bridge. A European uppercut by Dempsey then sent A-Kid to ringside. They traded more uppercuts, then A-Kid went for a backslide and transitioned it into an octopus hold that had Dempsey grasping for the ropes.

A-Kid hit a stiff kick that rocked Dempsey. They ended up on the mat with A-Kid going for a number of leg submissions. Dempsey went for Cattle Mutilation and then transitioned into an armbar and a kneebar before A-Kid countered into an armbar of his own.

Dempsey hit a perfect dragon suplex for a close two count. A-Kid went for an omoplata, but Dempsey countered with an overhead Gotch lift. They rocked each other with simultaneous elbow strikes, then Dempsey sent A-Kid out of the ring with a double-handed palm strike. With the referee holding Dempsey back and having his back turned to A-Kid, Rohan Raja suddenly jumped the railing, sent A-Kid head-first into the post, and rolled him back in the ring. From his positioning with the ref, Dempsey may or may not have seen Raja’s attack.

Dempsey then basically twisted A-Kid into a pretzel, stretching both his leg and neck. Dempsey interlocked his hands for the submission victory. This was outstanding.

– Sid Scala was about to announce that a star from the United States will appear on NXT UK next week. Wolfgang interrupted and asked about a new challenge. Scala then revealed that Wolfgang will face Roderick Strong on next Thursday’s episode.

– WWE recapped the Meiko Satomura/Isla Dawn segment from a few weeks ago, and it was announced that Satomura will defend her NXT UK Women’s Championship against Dawn in two weeks.

– Aleah James was asked about the future of the title picture in the women’s division. She was interrupted by Stevie Turner and they had words.

Symbiosis (T-Bone & Primate w/ Eddie Dennis) defeated Josh Morrell & Danny Jones (6:07)

Primate threw Morrell around early, then ate a dropkick before tagging out. Jones came in and held his own with T-Bone. Morrell went for a springboard crossbody, but T-Bone caught him and it was all downhill from there.

T-Bone smashed Morrell into the corner upside down, then punished him with more punches. Morrell eventually made the hot tag and Jones ran wild briefly. Morrell then actually hit a twisting corkscrew senton onto T-Bone for a two count, but he quickly fell victim to a top rope headbutt by Primate. Primate pinned Morrell to get the win.

As Symbiosis celebrated in the ring, Wild Boar suddenly returned after being absent due to injury for more than a year. He swung a chair into Primate’s back, then hit T-Bone in the gut with it and flattened him with a lariat before focusing on Eddie Dennis, who quickly got struck down. Dennis begged off and Symbiosis pulled him to safety, but all three men looked shocked to see Primate’s former partner in The Hunt return.

– Nina Samuels looked to tape another episode of her “show” at the UK Performance Center and encountered Emilia McKenzie. After they had a few words, McKenzie insulted her and walked off.

– Moustache Mountain and Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith were in a heated discussion backstage. Carter & Smith wanted another shot at Moustache Mountain’s NXT UK Tag Team titles, but Tyler Bate and Trent Seven said that Smith and Carter first had to beat them in singles matches. The first takes place with Carter facing Bate next week.

NXT Heritage Cup Championship match: Noam Dar retained against Joe Coffey by 2 falls to 1 (15:44)

Round One —

They went back and forth early, with Coffey dominating. Coffey was going for a Boston Crab as the round ended.

Round Two —

Coffey dominated with power moves, a German suplex, and the Glasgow Sendoff. He got a pin at 2:25 of the round. Coffey 1-0

Round Three —

Coffey repeatedly took down Dar with waistlocks. He hit a double-jump crossbody for a two count but got distracted by Sha Samuels at ringside. Dar had the kneebar on but Coffey escaped. Dar then caught Coffey in a pinning combination to take the next fall at 1:48 of the round. Dar 1-1

Round Four —

Dar dominated early, working over Coffey’s knees. Coffey ended up on the apron and hit a slingshot shoulder block, followed by an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Coffey locked in the Boston Crab with 15 seconds to go, but Dar grabbed the ropes.

They brawled at ringside as the round ended and had to be separated by their cornermen. Dar landed a cheap shot as they were being pulled apart.

Round Five —

Dar started with a running dropkick into the corner, then followed with another running kick for a two count. He went for the Nova Roller, but Coffey stopped him in mid-air with a Glasgow Sendoff and scored a two count. Coffey hit a lariat for another near fall.

They traded strikes, then Coffey hit a discus lariat, but Samuels put Dar’s foot on the rope, prompting Mark Coffey to take Samuels out. Dar used the confusion to hit the Nova Roller and score the deciding pinfall at 2:53 of the round. Dar wins 2-1

Final Thoughts —

The opening match between A-Kid and Charlie Dempsey was just fantastic. They put on a mat-wrestling clinic like few can in WWE. Both have future superstar written all over them, if they are being used the right way. If this was A-Kid’s NXT UK farewell, he went out with a bang here. It will also be interesting if Die Familie getting involved in Dempsey’s issues will lead to an eventual split.

The tag match was decent and Morrell and Jones could easily be featured in a more prominent role as both are good. Wild Boar returning gives Symbiosis something to do and may also lead to Boar reuniting with his former friends in Subculture down the line.

The Heritage Cup main event was good — if a bit predictable. The right guy won for where they are going with the Cup at the moment.

Next Week —

  • Roderick Strong vs. Wolfgang
  • Tyler Bate vs. Oliver Carter

In Two Weeks —

  • NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura defends against Isla Dawn

NXT UK results: Jordan Devlin vs. Wolfgang

As per usual, this week’s show was taped from BT Sports Studios in London, England.

Sam Gradwell defeated Kenny Williams

After Gradwell made his entrance, Williams came out on crutches and announced he would be unable to compete. Sid Scala then appeared on the big screen and said the medical team had no record of his injury and the match would take place.

Gradwell attacked Williams on the outside before the bell. Williams was still only in his street clothes as he apparently assumed his ruse would get him out of the match. A grabbing of the mohawk and a rake of the eyes would then get Williams back into it after the early flurry from Gradwell.

Williams wasn’t on offense for long after Gradwell battled back with a series of clotheslines. Williams then attempted to get back into things by whiplashing Gradwell off the ropes. He then attempted a sunset flip pin, but Gradwell hooked his legs and pinned him for the win.

After the match, Williams grabbed a crutch and attacked Gradwell from behind. With his opponent down, Williams went to the outside and grabbed a pair of scissors from a toolbox under the ring. He then got back in the ring and snipped off Gradwell’s mohawk.

– Gallus was shown in the back watching footage from last week’s show when they took over an episode of Supernova Sessions. Wolfgang didn’t seem to be in a good mood, however, likely due to Devlin attacking him in the back last week. He told the Coffey boys to watch what he does tonight.

– Xia Brookside was interviewed in the back. She was very excited until she was asked if she’s a positive role model like Amale. The mention of Amale really upset Brookside who stormed off and said that her daddy would hear about this.

– Clips of Dave Mastiff showing Jack Starz what he needs to do in order to earn his respect and a vest were shown. Mastiff ran through three challenges Starz must meet in order to earn a cut. Challenge #1 was he had to be in peak physical condition. Clips were then shown of Mastiff running him through a series of exercises. Challenge #2 was labeled “Bomber Appetite.” He then forced Jack to eat a lot. Challenge #3 was labeled “Bomber Guts.” We then cut to a clip of Mastiff encouraging Jack to streak across a field, but Jack ran away before doing it.

– We cut to a clip of Sam Gradwell looking for Kenny Williams in the back. He kicked in some doors but never found him.

Emilia McKenzie defeated Angel Hayze

They exchanged pinning combinations early before Hayze locked McKenzie in a headlock and refused to let go. McKenzie eventually broke the hold and went on a sustained period of offense.

Hayze fought back and landed a series of clotheslines. She looked to go for a fisherman’s suplex but McKenzie countered. McKenzie then hit a neckbreaker and followed with a suplex. Hayze fought back with a superkick that got a two count. She then went for a cazadora but McKenzie countered and slammed her face first into the mat and got the pin.

– Andy Shepherd interviewed Nathan Frazer in the back. Frazer said he wants to face Ilja Dragunov for the NXT UK Championship.

– Die Familie was shown in either a high rise apartment or hotel room. Teoman talked about having lost last week in the main event and promised that nobody will stop them moving forward.

Stevie Turner defeated Myla Grace

Tuner hit the first big move with a Lou Thesz press, followed by punches from the full mount position. She then got a two count after a big knee lift shortly after.

Grace made a comeback after fighting out of a chinlock. She hit a feint kick and a tornado DDT, but Turner put things away shortly after. Turner hit a big pump kick, followed by a side slam and got the pin.

– Sid Scala announced that he will present NXT UK Women’s Champion Meiko Satomura with a special gift next week to thank her for all she’s done for the brand.

– A video previewing the Tag Team title match between Moustache Mountain against Ashton Smith & Oliver Carter was shown. Trent Seven and Tyler Bate said being champions gives them more motivation than they’ve ever had. Smith and Carter said that while the champions have beaten them before, they haven’t beaten them when they are this close to achieving their dream. It was announced that this match will take place next week.

– It was also announced that Xia Brookside will face Amale next week.

Jordan Devlin defeated Wolfgang

They noted on commentary that Devlin is likely still feeling the impact of his recent empty arena match with Dragunov. Wolfgang then started to work the arm early in the match.

Devlin tried to fight back, but Wolfgang hit a series of shoulderblocks and knocked his opponent to the outside. It was all Wolfgang early. He got a two count from a vertical suplex and went back to working the arm.

Devlin only got back into things after ramming his opponent into the steel post after the match had spilled to the floor. He sold his arm for a bit before going on his first sustained period of offense. Devlin had Wolfgang locked in an armbar for a bit. Shortly after, Wolfgang picked up Devlin in a gorilla press but couldn’t hold him up due to his injured arm.

Devlin then continued to work on Wolfgang’s arm after it was the focus of Wolfgang’s attacks earlier.

Wolfgang eventually fought back by slingshotting Devlin over the top rope and to the floor. He went for a double axe handle but could only use his one good arm for the move. Wolfgang then got a two count off a senton shortly after.

Devlin dodged a charge in the corner and hit a headbutt to get back into it. He then got a two count after a springboard cutter. Wolfgang then hit a big spear, but the pain from his injured arm prevented him from making a timely cover. He went to the top rope but was caught by Devlin who hit him with a spanish fly. He followed that up with a 450 splash to get the pin.

Devlin celebrated his victory as the show came to a close.

Final Thoughts:

This was a fun show. The main event was a very solid match. The other matches were all pretty quick but McKenzie and Turner both came off well. The opening angle with Gradwell and Williams was also pretty good. The cutting off of the mohawk I would imagine will lead to some type of stipulation match down the line. The Mastiff and Starz comedy stuff could turn out to be funny, but also might not. Overall, this was a good show.

NXT UK results: Japanese Street Fight for Women’s title

Taped at BT Sport Studios in London, England

The show opened with a video promoting tonight’s Meiko Satomura vs. Blair Davenport main event, along with the finals of the NXT UK Tag Team title number one contender’s tournament. Tyler Bate and Trent Seven, the current Tag Team Champions, were walking backstage.

NXT UK Tag Team title number one contender’s tournament finals: Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith defeated Dave Mastiff & Jack Starz (12:32)

Moustache Mountain were on commentary for the match.

Starz took Carter down to start, but Carter came back and held his own. Smith and Mastiff were then in — and Mastiff wasted no time, running Smith over and hitting a sit-down splash.

Both men tagged out, then Carter hit an assisted slingshot shoulder block on Starz. Carter crashed and burned off a missed quebrada and got squished by a senton. Just seconds later, Carter had recovered enough that he and Smith hit a double back body drop on Mastiff.

Smith and Carter quickly tagged in and out, isolating Starz and taking turns working him over. Starz finally made the hot tag and Mastiff ran wild on both men, eventually settling in on Smith. Smith briefly hit Mastiff with a shoulder block and Starz wanted the tag, but Mastiff refused. Mastiff insisted that he had things under control and waved Starz off.

Mastiff went for Into the Void, but Smith moved out of the corner. Carter then hit running double knees to the back of Mastiff, followed by a lariat from Smith. Carter then hit an assisted moonsault to score the pin. Smith prevented Starz from being able to break it up.

Carter & Smith will be the first team to challenge Moustache Mountain for the NXT UK Tag Team titles.

– Davenport was shown backstage, twirling a Singapore cane.

– A-Kid was asked about next week’s match against Saxon Huxley. A-Kid said he respected him and they did some etiquette training. A-Kid tried teaching Huxley about table manners, chess, mathematics, and classical music. Things didn’t go well. A-Kid said they’d be back next week.

– Nathan Frazer was walking to his car and was asked about his day at the Performance Center. The car wouldn’t start and he was attacked by Die Familie. Charlie Dempsey and Rohan Raja held Frazer up while Teoman punched him. Raja talked into the camera and said this is what happens when you disrespect their family. We also got a cameo appearance by the camerawoman here, who was wXw’s head of video production, Katja Pilz.

Isla Dawn defeated Myla Grace (3:00)

This was over rather quick. Grace hit some promising offense but quickly was defeated by the swinging side slam.

– Satomura was shown preparing backstage.

– Nina Samuels hijacked an interview with Amale, then proceeded to talk down to her. Amale responded by shoving the microphone into Samuels and challenging her to a match.

– Sam Gradwell was asked about Kenny Williams recently costing him a tag match against Pretty Deadly. Gradwell said he might have gotten a taste of his own medicine, but that Williams was not ready for him.

– Gallus interrupted Noam Dar and Sha Samuels. Joe Coffey wanted to bet that he takes the Heritage Cup from Dar, but Samuels turned him down. Coffey then wanted on the Supernova Sessions, but Dar said they already had Jordan Devlin booked as a guest for the talk show’s season two premiere. Dar walked off, saying he has places to be and people to see.

– A graphic announced that Nathan Frazer would face Teoman next week.

– Japanese Street Fight for the NXT UK Women’s championship: Meiko Satomura defeated Blair Davenport by referee stoppage to retain her title (9:15)

There were no disqualifications or countouts in this match, but pinfalls could only happen in the ring. The match ended with what appeared to be a legitimate injury to Davenport.

Satomura kicked Davenport’s Singapore cane out of her hands at the start of the match, then kicked her in the head, sending Davenport to ringside. Davenport got some steel chairs and a chain from under the ring, but Satomura thwarted the attacks.

Satomura hit Davenport with a chain, then got a near fall off a pinning combination. Davenport came back and kicked a chair the champ was wielding into her face. At ringside, Satomura threw Davenport into the ring steps but got beaten up with the cane in return.

Davenport used a steel structure, used to hold the turnbuckles in place, to bend Satomura’s fingers, but she would not quit. Davenport used a cane for assistance during an STF, then used it on Satomura some more.

Satomura rolled on the apron while Davenport got on the top rope. Satomura tried throwing her off, but Davenport kicked her and Satomura’s upper body was on the apron. Davenport then hit a double foot stomp, but after making an impact and hitting the floor, it looked like Davenport’s left ankle gave out and she immediately rolled around the floor, screaming in pain.

The referee checked on Davenport and immediately threw up the “X” sign and stopped the match. Satomura was awarded the win due to referee stoppage as Davenport was put on a stretcher outside the ring.

Final Thoughts —

The main event, which was gearing up to be a great street fight, was cut short by what appears to have been a legitimate ankle injury to Blair Davenport. Hopefully Davenport makes a quick and full recovery.

The number one contender’s tag team match was a lot of fun and seems to indicate trouble between Starz and Mastiff down the road. Moustache Mountain vs. Carter & Smith should also be great. The Isla Dawn match was a quick squash and mostly filler.

Next Week —

  • Nathan Frazer vs. Teoman
  • A-Kid vs. Saxon Huxley

NXT UK results: Meiko Satomura vs. Blair Davenport Women’s title match

Report —

The show opened with a promo video, highlighting tonight’s main event match between Meiko Satomura and Blair Davenport.

NXT UK Tag Team title number one contender’s tournament: Ashton Smith & Oliver Carter defeated Symbiosis (Primate & T-Bone) (w/Eddie Dennis) (09:37)

Carter and Primate started out and Carter and Smith had Primate under control early, before he finally tagged in T-Bone. The babyface team used some double team magic to wear the bigger T-Bone down.

Symbiosis came back and went for a double suplex on Carter, but Smith pulled his partner out the move and to safety. Symbiosis finally found their groove and worked Smith over, focusing on his back.
Symbiosis scored a near fall on Smith after Primate hit a frog splash on him.

Carter finally received a hot tag and ran wild on bot opponents. He scored a near fall with a quebrada but Symbiosis quickly regrouped and focused on Smith once more. Smith rammed T-Bone into Primate who was on the top rope. He clotheslined T-Bone to the outside, where Carter took him out with a dive.

Smith then lifted Primate on his shoulders and Carter hit him with a Doomsday cutter for the pinfall victory.

**********

– Blair Davenport was shown warming up backstage.

– Pretty Deadly were asked about losing the tag team titles to Moustache Mountain. They complained about some other teams receiving a chance at the title in a tournament. Sam Gradwell then walked up and told them to stop whining and complaining and told them they had to take what they wanted around here.

**********

An absolutely fantastic video on Ilja Dragunov aired.

He was first shown training. He talked about how his intensity wasn’t his biggest strength, but his family was. They then showed him with his wife and son at home, preparing food and playing. He said sometimes when his son falls down, he asks him “why do we fall” and his son replies” to get back up”.

He said his family isn’t his weakness, it’s his strength as they played clips of Jordan Devlin insulting Dragunov, using his family to talk trash to Dragunov. This was great.

**********

– Noam Dar was watching the match between A-Kid and Nathan Frazer on his phone while Samuels had jotted down all the possible ways for Dar to win on a flip chart. They settled on Dar to beat Frazer in the 4th round for 11:1 odds.

– Die Familie cut a taped promo. Rohan Raja said that they were a family and Metehan talked about how the eye sees everything and now it sees them winning tag team gold. He said it was nice that Tyler Bate and Trent Seven were friends, but their bond was stronger.

**********

Xia Brookside beat Myla Grace (03:50)

Brookside played crybaby some more, escaping into the ropes and complaining when her arm got worked over. Grace kept her momentum and the crowd was audibly behind her. She hit a 619 on Xia who was sitting in the corner.

Xia pulled her off the ropes, hit a kick to the back and hit Broken Wings for the win.

**********

– Jack Starz and Dave Mastiff cut a promo about how they would win the tag team titles in 2022.

**********

Amale was interviewed at the UK Performance Center about her amazing video package and detailing her story and how it exploded on social media. Mila Smidt entered and told her that her story was inspirational.

Jinny then entered and told her it was a pathetic sob story, then left to catch her limo. Stevie Turner looked on and said that Jinny had a point. Amale flipped her lid, pushed her against the glass door and berated her in French.

**********

A video package on WALTER aired, talking about how next week, he would make his “last stand” in NXT UK and have his final match on the brand. He then cut a promo and said that he dominated and brought back glory, respect and dignity to this sport.

He said he was told great things about Frazer and that he was the future of the brand. WALTER wasn’t impressed and like everyone else, Frazer was in it for himself and was taking the piss out of the sport. He said that every time, the Ring General steps into the ring, he comes out victorious.

NXT UK Women’s Championship: Meiko Satomura (c) defeated Blair Davenport to retain the title (12:57)

Satomura started out with leg kicks, then turned a knuckle lock into a Judo hip toss. She followed with an arm drag and kneeling arm bar, further controlling her opponent. They finally exchanged strikes and Satomura kicked Davenport off the top rope to the outside as Davenport went for a springboard maneuver. The champion kept on offense, using a surfboard and more strikes, sending Davenport to ringside once more.

Davenport used her ringside position to her advantage though, kicking Satomura straight on the jaw as she went to leave the ring, almost knocking her out. She hit a draping DDT off the apron to the floor, then quickly went for a pin but only score a two count. She hit a running basement dropkick for another near-fall, then locked in a chin lock.

Meiko finally made another stand, hitting a vicious suplex on Davenport, then locked in an STF, but Davenport managed to lock in a Fujiwara arm bar from the hold. Davenport went for the Falcon Arrow, but couldn’t get it and received a DDT instead. Meiko went for a Pelé kick, but Davenport caught her leg and locked in an STF of her own. She followed with more kicks and a running knee that sent Satomura through the ropes. Davenport hit a double foot stomp off the top on Satomura’s back as she was on the apron. Satomura evaded the V-Trigger, then hit two consecutive Death Valley Bombs for a two count. Satomura went for Scorpion Rising, but Davenport evaded and hit a knee for another two.

Davenport went for the Falcon Arrow once more, but Meiko evaded it and went for another Death Valley Bomb. Davenport turned it into a sunset flip, but Satomura reversed it, sat down and scored the pinfall victory.

As Satomura celebrated, Davenport attacked her from behind and hit three consecutive V-Triggers. She posed with the belt, then threw it onto Satomura and told her. she’d see her again.

Final Thoughts —

  • The main event was very good and told a great story. Meiko finally prevailed, showing ring prowess, but it was through a roll up and not a deciding move. Davenport’s attack prolonged the program afterwards.
  • The tag team match was a typical high level match.
  • The other women’s match was more of a showcase for Xia Brookside’s new heel personality.
  • The video package on Ilja Dragunov and his family was outstanding.

Next week —

  • WALTER’s Last Stand: WALTER vs. Nathan Frazer
  • NXT UK Tag Team Championship number one contender’s tournament: Die Familie vs. Jack Starz & Dave Mastiff

NXT UK results: A-Kid vs. Frazer Heritage Cup contender match

Charlie Dempsey defeated Joe Coffey via referee stoppage (12:31)

They traded holds and lockups early, but neither man could get an advantage. Dempsey got the takedown with a headlock takeover and went for a submission of a pinfall attempt that had Coffey in trouble briefly. Coffey came back with a bodypress and slam. Dempsey used his advanced technical skills to take down Coffey, but Coffey worked over his thighs and hips.

Dempsey came back by front-flipping Coffey into the corner, then hit some European uppercuts and a gutwrench suplex for a near fall.

Dempsey trapped Coffey in a hammerlock, then smashed him in the face with forearms. Dempsey escaped a fireman’s carry by raking the nose, then downed Coffey with a suplex. Dempsey actually worked over Coffey’s bloody nose, trying to prevent him from breathing.

Dempsey hit a headbutt out of the corner that downed both men. They had a lengthy striking exchange and Coffey finally downed Dempsey with a discus lariat. Coffey hit the double-jump reverse crossbody but awkwardly hit his hand. He followed with the Glasgow Sendoff, but Teoman and Rohan Raja ran in and pulled Dempsey out of the ring. Gallus followed shortly after and brawled with “Die Familie” (German for “the family”).

This allowed Dempsey to smash Coffey’s injured hand into the steps and actually choke Coffey out with a dragon sleeper. Coffey passed out and the referee stopped the match.

A highlight video of last week’s great match between Moustache Mountain and Pretty Deadly aired. Sid Scala then congratulated Moustache Mountain, but said it was time to determine their first challengers. There will be a tournament starting in three weeks, when Symbiosis face Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter. The winner of that match faces the winners of Die Familie (Teoman & Rohan Raja) vs. Jack Starz & Dave Mastiff, which takes place in four weeks, to determine the new no. 1 contenders.

An awesome video on Jordan Devlin aired. It followed him through the day, from putting on a refreshing face mask before doing a 1,000 crunches in the morning, to looking out of his penthouse over Dublin, driving a sports car fast with the top down to meeting fans who adore him. He said Ilja Dragunov was pathetic, fighting for his family and fans, needing their approval. Devlin needs only himself. The way this was shot made Devlin the confident douche bag who can back his words up.

Moustache Mountain in-ring segment —

Seven said it had been a great night when they won the belts and now, after  a couple of rough months, Moustache Mountains were back. He said they had felt sure in the past, against the Grizzled Young Vets and once against Pretty Deadly. Seven got emotional saying, he wasn’t sure what he’d do if they hadn’t won the titles and he wasn’t sure what he would do if he didn’t have them anymore. He said he didn’t know how long he had left, but then cheered up and said they do have the titles.

He then also said that they were the only team to ever hold the NXT and NXT UK tag team titles and that Bate was the first ever UK champion, held the Heritage Cup and now the tag titles, making him the first and only NXT UK Grand Slam champion. The crowd chanted “Grand Slam Boi” at him and Seven thanked the fans and everyone on the crew and the roster, then wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

**********

Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter cut a promo backstage, saying this was their time and they would become the next champions

A great video package on Meiko Satomura and Blair Davenport aired, showing highlights of both women. Davenport said she had become the number one foreigner in Meiko’s home country but had never gotten to meet her in the ring. Now Meiko was the foreigner in her country and she would score a flawless victory against her. The two women will meet in three weeks.

**********

Kenny Williams defeated Dany Jones (3:49)

Williams grabbed a mic on his way to the ring and said he didn’t want Jones, but Mark Andrews and told Dany to go to the back and get him. Jones wouldn’t comply.

Jones briefly dominated, but Williams took out his knee. Jones came back, whipped Williams into the corner, then hit an exploder for a two-count. Williams came back with another tackle to the knee, then hit Bad Luck but wouldn’t make the cover. He hit a second Bad Luck and easily picked up the win.

**********

Symbiosis cut a promo. Eddie Dennis said last year’s words belong to last year’s language but next year’s words would be different. He said this was a new year, a new beginning and things would change. They said they would return, leading the pack. That voice, was Symbiosis.

A graphic announced a “special holiday edition” of NXT UK for next week

Kenny Williams came out of a room, screaming there had been a “terrible accident”. Mark Andrews was on the floor in pain, clutching his arm and calling for a doctor.

Round 1

They shook hands at the start of the round. They traded takedowns early, until A-Kid hit a dropkick and went for the Fujiwara armbar. A-Kid kept Frazer’s arm under control. They evaded each other’s attacks as the round concluded.

Round 2

A-Kid started with a waistlock takedown. Frazer tried working over the arm, but A-Kid escaped and they traded pinning combination. Frazer scored a fall off one of them, much to his own surprise. Frazer 1-0

Round 3

A-Kid came out with a running kick, but missed. He tried a few more and finally scored, then locked in an arm bar, but Frazer made the ropes. A-Kid locked in an octopus hold, but Frazer made the ropes once more. He hit a quebrada into a reverse DDT for another near-fall. A-Kid locked on a sleeper, then a running kick and finally slapped on the Fujiware armbar, but time ran out and Frazer was saved by the bell.

Round 4

Frazer actually hit a backward roll into a Boston Crab, but A-Kid turned it into a pinning combination for a near-fall. A-Kid threw Frazer to ringside, then hit a flying superkick back in the ring to score a fall and tie things. A-Kid 1-1

Round 5

A-Kid hit a fisherman’s suplex for a very close two-count. Frazer came back with a superkick for a near-fall of his own. A-Kid managed to lock in an armbar, which he turned into an omaplata and got the tap at 2:31 of the round. A-Kid wins 2-1

A-Kid offered his hand to Frazer after the match, who shook it.

Final Thoughts —

  • Another good episode. Charlie Dempsey has something very special about him. Not sure how I feel about him in a stable yet, as I would have liked him more as a lone wolf, but he more than delivers in the ring. He does a lot of little things that nobody else does and is super crisp with everything he does in the ring.
  • The Kenny Williams match was more a set up for an angle.
  • The main event was very good with some great action, quick pins and realistic submission attempts.

Next week —

NXT UK results: Pretty Deadly vs. Moustache Mountain Tag title match

Report —

They opened with an abbreviated version of last week’s Pretty Deadly vs. Moustache Mountain hype video.

Blair Davenport defeated Emilia McKenzie (06:01)

McKenzie looked strong early with an arm drag and swinging neckbreaker, which scored her a near fall at the one-minute-mark. Davenport came back with a tackle, then locked in a chinlock. They traded strikes until McKenzie hit a running spear for another near fall.

Davenport quickly ascended the ropes and hit a shotgun dropkick but McKenzie shot back with a German suplex. McKenzie went for her somersault spear out of the corner, but Davenport stopped her with a knee and hit the Falcon Arrow for the pin and the win.

After the match, Davenport locked a helpless McKenzie in an STF and screamed that she wanted “The Final Boss vs. The Ichiban Gaijin.”

**********

Moustache Mountain were warming up backstage

Noam Dar and Sha Samuels were about to enter Sid Scala’s office. Dar told Sha not to scream at the boss and be nice and quiet, so of course Sha loudly banged on the door and screamed that they were here at the top of his lungs. Dar wanted some congratulations, which Scala gave, but also informed Dar that next week, Nathan Frazer and A-Kid would be competing under Heritage Cup rules to determine a number one contender. Dar wasn’t thrilled.

They showed the clip of Rampage Brown being rendered unable to continue by an enzuigiri by Ilja Dragunov in their title match last week. They showed him being taken backstage on a stretcher and said he had been evaluated but refused further medical treatment and had been in no condition for a statement after losing the match due to ref stoppage. They will update us on further developments.

Xia Brookside was at the UK Performance Center, talking to somebody about losing her match to Meiko Satomura last week. The other person said it was a three count and Brookside wanted him to help. She then was interviewed about the match and went on a screaming tirade about it not being her fault that she lost, Sid Scala setting her up, her only having one week to prepare being unfair, then finally screamed at the interviewer to leave her alone and stormed off.

Jordan Devlin-Ilja Dragunov in-ring segment

Devlin said he was the longest reigning cruiserweight champion in history, the star, the franchise player, the Ace of the brand. He said there was only one thing left for him to do and that was to take the NXT UK title. He said he wasn’t like other challengers interrupting Ilja Dragunov, but wanted Dragunov to come out to his ring and face him. Dragunov didn’t take long to answer the challenge and walked out to the ring.

Dragunov said he appreciated Devlin’s ring ability but said where he comes from, people don’t talk so much and if Devlin wanted a title match, why did he not just ask for it?

Devlin said he knew who Dragunov won the title from and defended it against, men to whom the sport was honorable and the mat was sacred. He also said that he is not like those men, he won’t stop if Dragunov knocks him out or quit, if he breaks his nose. He said to him, nothing between these ropes was sacred, if Dragunov gave him a chance he would only require one and would end his career to take the title and won’t lose any sleep over it.

Dragunov smiled and said that nothing Devlin said or did could intimidate him, scare him or make him nervous. He was prepared for everything Devlin could bring.

Devlin replied that he hoped that Dragunov knew what he got himself into and that “his little wife at home” forgave him for it. He also said that he hopes that Dragunov could explain to “your little boy – Konstantin, right?” – why he had to grow up taking care of his daddy. Dragunov looked incredulous, then decked Devlin as officials ran to the ring to break things up. Devlin smiled as he was led away.

This was a money promo if there ever was one. I now want to see this match take place in a big stadium and want to pay money to attend it at ringside. This was a blood feud on a personal level materializing out of thin air within minutes.

**********

An amazing video on Amale aired, which immediately transformed her from an arrogant heel to a lovable babyface. She said she had been perceived as ruthless and aggressive during her stay in NXT UK, but there was a reason for it. She had been told “no” all her life when all she wanted was to become a wrestler with WWE. They aired clips and videos of her childhood of Moroccan immigrants in France. She said she had two master’s degrees, had become a teacher and could have been anything she wanted, but she wanted to become a wrestler. She was tired of her parents telling her no and telling her to go to law school instead. She was tired of the parents of the children in her school telling her she couldn’t do WWE. She was crying and emotional during the video and it really tore at the heartstrings of everybody watching with a soul. She concluded that she was Amale and she was Hope.

Kenny Williams cut a promo on Mark Andrews, calling him a pretender and calling him being a rock star and a skateboarder and act. He said he recognized that, as he had been a pretender too for much of his life. He said Andrews was all that was left of Subculture and once he was done with him, there would only be Scum Culture.

**********

Sam Gradwell defeated Sha Samuels (w/ Noam Dar) (06:53)

They went back and forth early, with Samuels trying to go for Gradwell’s surgically repaired leg. They took turns flattening each other with lariats, then Gradwell clotheslines Samuels over the top rope. He followed with a clothesline off the apron. Samuels then pulled Gradwell off the apron and slammed him on the mats outside. Back in the ring, Samuels slammed him once more, then hit a suplex for a near fall.

Samuels took off his suspenders and threatened to beat Gradwell with them. Gradwell, also a despicable heel, grabbed Samuels’ scarf, wrapped it around his neck and pretended that Dar choked him with it from the outside. Dar seemed to confirm to the referee as he tried to take the scarf off Gradwell.

The referee was close to disqualifying Samuels when Dar jumped on the apron, distracting the ref and allowing Gradwell to whip the scarf into Samuels’ nether regions. He followed up with the fireman’s carry power bomb for the win.

**********

Gallus were in an underground garage, putting something into the trunk of their car. They once more acted like an Irish crime syndicate who were feuding with rivaling crime syndicate, headed by Teoman. Wolfgang suggested Joe Coffey leave a mark on Charlie Dempsey. They got into their car as police sirens approached.

They promoted the Nathan Frazer vs. A-Kid Heritage Cup match for next week. Both men talked about the match and once more, they went the extra mile in the buildup. A-Kid actually talked about adapting his training with more of an emphasis on strength in order to subdue Frazer. He said timing beats speed. Frazer on the other hand said he’d force A-Kid to play his game, take him to the sky and drop him. He said winning here would be the biggest moment of his life.

NXT UK Tag Team Championship: Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) defeated Pretty Deadly (Sam Stoker & Lewis Howley) to win the titles (17:49)

Moustache Mountain were in control early, with Bate using speed and technique, then both members of Moustache Mountain clotheslined Pretty Deadly to the outside. They then hit stereo vertical suplexes before Seven hit a top rope knee drop on Howley for a two count. Seven’s left hand was taped and he was favoring it, which the announcers pointed out.

They threw Seven to ringside, where Stoker rammed Seven into the steps. Back in the ring, Seven managed to fight free and ended up on the top rope, but got his legs taken out and took a brutal bump right on his head and neck from the top. The champs hit a double elbow/leg drop on Seven, then worked him over some more in and out of the ring. Seven finally made the hot tag and Bate ran wild on both opponents.

He hit an exploder followed by a running shooting star press on Howley, then went for the Tyler Driver ’97 and after some back and forth counters, hit the move for a close near-fall. Howley tagged out and Stoker hit an assisted gutbuster for a near fall of his own. Pretty Deadly went for the trademark Moustache Mountain slingshot lariat/dragon suplex combo but Bate ducked and the champs took out each other.

Seven was back in and hit the snap DDT on Howley, followed by the Seven Star Lariat for another close two-count. Pretty Deadly came back and hit Spilled Milk on Seven, with Bate narrowly making the save. Bate hit a dive through the ropes, but Stoker caught him and Pretty Deadly hit Spilled Milk on Bate on the outside.

Howley hit a powerbomb on Seven, the deadlifted him and hot another on on Stoker’s knee but Seven still managed to kick out. Howley managed to distract the referee with a title belt and snuck another one to Stoker who hit Seven with it. Seven somehow managed to kick out from the cover that followed.

Bate finally made it in, hit a rolling kick and Tyler Driver 97 on Howley. He took his time going to the top rope while Seven picked Stoker up for the Birminghammer and dropped him on Howley. Bate then followed with the Big Spiral Boi from the top and covered Howley for the title win.

Moustache Mountain are your new NXT UK Tag Team Champions and Tyler Bate is the first-ever NXT UK Triple Crown champion. This was a fantastic match.

Final Thoughts —

  • This was one of the best episodes of NXT UK in 2021.
  • The main event was fantastic and concluded Trent Seven’s redemption storyline that started more than a year ago with him losing in the Heritage Cup finals, losing to Jordan Devlin in their feud over the cruiserweight title and costing Bate the Heritage Cup. It also helped that those two teams are among the best in the UK if not the world right now and Pretty Deadly are criminally underrated.
  • Add to that the Dragunov/Devlin segment that felt very raw and personal and had some of the best mic work all year in WWE, the great Amale profile video and the A-Kid/Frazer hype video that felt more like a UFC Countdown style match profile. Davenport/McKenzie also was good and built to a Davenport/Satomura match down the line while Samuels/Gradwell was a fun mean guy hoss fight.
  • I’d recommend going out of your way to watch this one.

Next week —

  • Heritage Cup Rules: A-Kid vs. Nathan Frazer to determine the new number one contender to the Heritage Cup

NXT UK results: Ilja Dragunov vs. Rampage Brown title match

Report —

The show opened with a highlight video for Dragunov vs. Brown tonight.

NXT UK Women’s Championship: Meiko Satomura defeated Xia Brookside to retain the title (07:58)

Satomura controlled Brookside early on. Brookside got the upper hand, but got overwhelmed again in short order. Satomura applied an arm bar around the five minute mark, but Brookside made the ropes, then went on the attack once more. Satomura missed an enzuigiri and Brookside scored a near-fall after a codebreaker, then threw a tantrum when she couldn’t score a three-count.

Satomura hit the Death Valley Driver, then finished Brookside off with Scorpion Rising for the successful title defense.

**********

Charlie Dempsey and Rohan Raja were at an apartment, Raja suggested they go to the roof. As they looked over the city, Raja said that Teoman sent his gratitude and asked Dempsey what was important to him. He said legacy and heritage were important, and he knew it was the same for Raja. Raja had been on the phone with Teoman and welcomed Dempsey to “the familia.” They shook hands.

Meiko Satomura was greeted backstage by Emilia McKenzie and was asked about her future plans. Satomura said she would be going home to Japan for a few weeks. Blair Davenport then walked up and asked Emilia McKenzie what she was going to do without her only friend there to protect her? McKenzie said she would be just fine and Davenport challenged her to a match, which Emilia accepted. Davenport also told Satomura to bring her back a present from Japan.

**********

Saxon Huxley beat Kenny Williams (08:14)

This was a rematch from a few weeks ago, where Williams cheated to win.

Williams threw his jacket at Huxley at the bell, but Huxley caught it and started dismantling Williams. He hit a running crossbody into the ropes, then followed Williams to ringside and leveled him with a clothesline. Back in the ring, Huxley kept up the attacks and ragdolled Williams around.

Williams ducked a corner attack and Huxley tumbled to the outside. Williams attacked him there, then kept the pressure on in the ring. Williams hit a sit-down splash onto Huxley’s back for a near-fall, then worked over Huxley’s knees and upper legs.

Huxley came back and deadlifted Williams into a gorilla press. Huxley missed and elbow from the middle rope, allowing Williams to hit a running DDT. Suddenly, Subculture’s music played and Williams, like an idiot, ignored his opponent and got on the ropes, looking towards the entrance.

Huxley hit a hip attack into the corner, then hit a fireman’s carry into a powerbomb for the win.

**********

Sha Samuels had a board with odds for various challengers to the NXT UK Cup. Sam Gradwell was at the bottom with 4000 to 1 odds. He walked in and took offense, then challenged Samuels for next week and bet 10 pounds on himself, at the same odds.

A graphic announced Blair Davenport vs. Emilia McKenzie for next week, plus Pretty Deadly vs. Moustache Mountain for the NXT UK tag team titles. They then aired a very good hype video with great promos by both teams.

**********

NXT UK championship: Ilja Dragunov defeated Rampage Brown by referee stoppage to retain the title (08:50)

They locked up, Brown backed Dragunov into the corner, but the champion evaded a big punch and shortly thereafter, a back elbow, then hit a chop of his own.

Brown finally hit a punch off a break in the corner, but Dragunov immediately punished him with strikes, then trapped Brown in a side headlock, not even breaking the hold off a backdrop driver. Dragunov locked the hold on twice more off whips, but eventually had to release after another high-angle suplex.

They ended at ringside, and Brown repeatedly rammed Dragunov into the corner posts. Brown repeatedly slammed Dragunov, then started working over the champion’s lower back.

Dragunov briefly fought back with kicks off his back, but Brown kept attacking relentlessly. Dragunov escaped a Doctor Bomb attempt, then managed a back body drop off a powerbomb attempt. Dragunov managed to hit an enzuigiri out of desperation that put down Brown hard.

A replay showed Dragunov’s toe hitting Brown in the temple or jaw. The doctor checked him out and the referee called a stop to the contest.

Final thoughts —

The main event was great while it lasted, but it looked like a legitimate Referee/doctor stoppage and a very anticlimactic finish. I hope this leads to a rematch down the line.

The other two matches were fine, but not very memorable. Other than the first seven minutes of the main event, the highlights of the show were the Charlie Dempsey/Rohan Raja segment and the Pretty Deadly and Moustache Mountain promos.

Next week —

  • NXT UK Tag Team Championship: Pretty Deadly (c) vs. Moustache Mountain
  • Blair Davenport vs. Emilia McKenzie

NXT UK results: Noam Dar vs. Sam Gradwell Heritage Cup match

Jordan Devlin defeated Mark Andrews (09:47)

Backstage before the match, Andrews was very upset about something. Flash Morgan Webster came in and told him to focus on his match and they’d sort things out later.

Devlin humiliated Andrews early, but he came back with some innovative offense and eventually slapped Devlin hard across the face. Devlin took back over and attacked Andrews’ back, wearing him down. Andrews eventually hit a tornado DDT, then followed up with an enzuigiri, roll through and double foot stomp to the stomach.

He caught Devlin mid-air and hit a sit-down power bomb for a near-fall. Devlin eventually came back with a slingshot cutter over the top rope and scored a near-fall of his own. Devlin went for the Spanish Fly off the top, but Andrews stopped him and hit a top-rope poison rana followed by a Code Red for a close near-fall.

Andrews hit a shooting star press off the top but Devlin got his knees up, went for a cover and a suplex, but Andrews turned it into a Stun Dog Millionaire. Devlin rolled to ringside, but Andrews hit a moonsault to the outside. Devlin slammed Andrews into the barricades and he narrowly made it back into the ring. Devlin downed him with a head butt, then hit Devlin Inside for the pin and the win.

Sid Scala announced that Pretty Deadly vs. Moustache Mountain II for the Tag Team titles would take place in two weeks

A video recapped Charlie Dempsey attacking Joe Coffey last week, leading to Gallus losing to Teoman and Rohan Raja. They then showed scenes of Dempsey choking out Joe Coffey in the ropes and Dempsey posing with Teoman and Raja. The announcers questioned whether he had joined Teoman’s family.

Gallus then cut a promo, with Joe Coffey saying that now the numbers were even, Dempsey had gotten one lucky shot, but he would now get his head kicked in.

Scenes from earlier in the week showed Sam Gradwell walking out of his hotel room, presumably in the middle of the night due to some party noise. Noam Dar and Sha Samuels were having a wild party and Gradwell complained, then suggested a match. Dar accepted.

Scala was backstage at the arena about to make an announcement when Gradwell walked up to him and complained that the match with Dar was not for the Heritage Cup. Dar and Samuels came up and said that Gradwell had to win some matches before earning a shot. Suddenly, a hand clapped Dar on the shoulder and it was the returning Johnny Saint. He said they’d do whatever Scala wanted and Scala made the match for the Heritage Cup. Scala and Saint then embraced.

Isla Dawn defeated Aleah James (04:20)

Isla Dawn had her box, containing trinkets from various women on the roster, with her.

James controlled Dawn’s wrist early, but then got overwhelmed. She came back with a dropkick, then was pulled into the ropes, killing her momentum. Dawn applied a modified cobra clutch, but James escaped and hit a series of crossbodies. She turned a suplex attempt into a small package for a near-fall.

James ended up on the turnbuckles and Dawn picked her up and hit a fireman’s carry into a side slam for the pinfall victory.

Dawn then grabbed her box, looked creepy and returned James’ headband that she had stolen a while ago.

Sid Scala was in his office when Xia Brookside was hear whining and complaining. She walked in and whined about her title match with Meiko Satomura, which she claimed Scala had promised her. He said he didn’t. She kept shrieking about how her daddy promised to talk to him. He finally gave in and made the match for next week. Brookside then complained some more, saying a week wasn’t enough time to prepare. Scala said next week or not at all. Brookside grumpily agreed and stomped off.

Jinny defeated Angel Hayze (02:38)

Hayze was already in the ring when Dani Luna’s music played but she didn’t come out. Instead, Jinny came out, said she had taken care of Luna and Flash and Mark would have to live without her for a very long time. She also said that she was handling things on her own now and her business relationship with Joseph Conners was over. She said she was getting her winning streak back on track and Hayze accepted.

Jinny beat down Hayze, then locked in a reverse chinlock. She hit a clothesline, then followed up with the Makeover from the turnbuckles for the quick win.

Nina Samuels tried interviewing Meiko Satomura for her “show.” Meiko was training with Emilia McKenzie and just stared at her. Emilia said they were training and asked Samuels to go away, which she did.

Noam Dar and Sha Samuels crossed out the names of A-Kid and Tyler Bate from the Heritage Cup trophy

A great video aired on the upcoming Ilja Dragunov vs. Rampage Brown match. Dragunov said Brown said he didn’t need his respect, but by beating him to the ground, he showed Ilja the greatest respect he ever could. He said he initially won the title just for himself, but he realized he had a responsibility and that people felt something when they saw him fight. He was a symbol for dedication, for endurance, a symbol to fight like there is no tomorrow.

Brown was in a studio setting. He refused to let somebody put the microphone on him, then demanded they get rid of the light. He sat there in half darkness. He said Ilja wasn’t some kind of golden boy and the fact that he had the title didn’t sit right with him. He said he was the most respected competitor that NXT UK ever signed, but in the end that meant nothing. It didn’t pay his bills or fed him, but the NXT UK title would. He said he wasn’t messing around, would beat Ilja and make him suffer. He then pulled the mic off and said he was done.

Before he left, he looked into the camera and spoke into the small mic one more time, telling Ilja he would smash his face in, take his title and would have all the respect. This was great.

Mark Andrews was backstage near the medical office when he was asked abut his status. He said he was waiting for Flash Morgan Webster, who was getting his shoulder checked out. As Flash came out, Kenny Williams approached and made fun of them, saying the medical office should be called the Subculture dressing room. Andrews got in his face and said it was easy to pick on someone on the sidelines, but he wasn’t injured. Williams backed off, then said Andrews didn’t want to get into a backstage fight with someone like him.

NXT UK Heritage Cup: Noam Dar (c) (w/ Sha Samuels) defeated Sam Gradwell 2-1 in round 4 to retain the Cup (11:56)

Round 1

Dar evaded Gradwell early on. Gradwell eventually got his hands on Dar and threw him around. Dar caught Gradwell’s leg, but he pulled Dar’s head into his knee brace, then hit the fireman’s carry into the sit-out power bomb to score the first pinfall of the match at 2:42 of the round. Gradwell 1-0

Round 2

Dar looked to be out of it and Samuels propped him up in the corner. Gradwell grabbed him, but Dar had been playing possum and rolled him up with a small package. Gradwell threw Dar to the outside, but Samuels interfered, allowing Dar to make it back inside. Dar then drop kicked Gradwell through the ropes. Back in the ring, Dar hit the Nova Roller to pick up a fall at 1:35 of the round. Dar 1-1

Round 3

Dar targeted Gradwell’s knee with dropkicks and kept the bigger man under control, then hit a few hard kicks. Gradwell came back with a double underhook suplex. Dar locked in the super knee bar, then began to unfasten Gradwell’s knee brace. Gradwell made it to the end of the round and was saved by the bell.

Round 4

Gradwell removed his knee brace between rounds and Dar attacked right from he start. Samuels rammed Gradwell’s knee into the apron behind the referee’s back. Gradwell got a near-fall off an STO, then looked to  pick him up but couldn’t. Dar went to the top as Samuels put Gradwell’s foot on the rope for Dar to jump onto. This time, Gradwell played possum and got Dar up for the fireman’s carry. Dar held onto Samuels’ scarf, then rolled up Gradwell, who kicked  out. Dar teased the Nova Roller, but instead locked on the super knee bar when Gradwell covered up. Gradwell tapped at 2:54 of the round, seconds before the bell. Dar wins 2-1

Final thoughts —

A very good show; the opener was fast-paced and full of action. Isla Dawn continues to build her character as some kind of evil witch, while Jinny looks increasingly brutal and ruthless. It’s also interesting that they dropped her pairing with Joseph Conners without much of an explanation.

The main event was good and a fun match with Gradwell looking the best he’s looked since his match with Ilja Dragunov earlier in the year. Dar and Samuels also are an entertaining heel duo.

The interview packages with Ilja Dragunov and Rampage Brown are also well worth going out of your way to look up.

Next week —

  • NXT UK Championship: Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Rampage Brown
  • NXT UK Women’s Championship: Meiko Satomura (c) vs. Xia Brookside

In two weeks —

NXT UK results: Gallus vs. Teoman & Rohan Raja

Report —

A-Kid defeated Sam Gradwell (10:45)

They traded holds early with neither man getting a clear advantage. Gradwell then rubbed his knee brace over A-Kid’s face to gain the advantage, He eventually locked in a Boston Crab but A-Kid escaped and turned it into a cover. A-Kid hit a superkick that sent Gradwell to the outside, then followed with a dive and, once they were back in the ring, a crossbody off the top for a near fall.

A-Kid eventually went for the omoplata, but Gradwell powered out and actually hit a huge suplex as a counter move, then threw A-Kid to ringside. He missed a clothesline off the apron though, allowing A-Kid to lock in a sleeper on the outside, which earned him another suplex in return. Gradwell hit a lariat, which earned him another very close near fall.

A-Kid locked in an arm bar, Gradwell actually picked him up and slammed him to the mat, but A-Kid held on and Gradwell finally tapped.

**********

They showed some clips from the Rampage Brown vs. Flash Morgan Webster match and reported that Webster had suffered a shoulder injury and would be out of action for a while

Ilja Dragunov was interviewed backstage and was told the match with Rampage Brown was now official. He said he did not run from pain but embraced it and also that myths and legends weren’t written about giants but the heroes who made them fall. The match airs in two weeks

**********

Aleah James defeated Nina Samuels (04:51)

James trapped Samuels in a wrist lock early on and wouldn’t let go. She escaped a counter attempt, then hit a hurricanrana from the apron to the inside of the ring. Samuels took back over with some kicks and a backbreaker. James came back with a series of dropkicks and a crossbody for a near-fall. Samuels made a brief comeback, but James turned a tilt-a-whirl-slam attempt into  a small package for the pin and the win.

**********

Sam Gradwell sat backstage when Sha Samuels and Noam Dar loudly celebrated Dar’s win of the NXT Heritage Cup a few weeks ago. They briefly got into it, but Gradwell seemed more confused than aggravated.

Aleah James was happy about her win backstage and talked about wanting to keep her momentum going. She went into a room and was attacked by Isla Dawn, who stole her hairband. Still scarier than Alexa Bliss and her doll.

**********

Kenny Williams defeated Saxon Huxley (05:54)

Williams attacked Huxley early, but the huge Brit ran wild on him just seconds later. He threw him around and ragdolled him, slamming him into the mat repeatedly, then nonchalantly threw him to ringside.

Williams came back by jumping up and down on Huxley’s back and spearing his leg. Williams locked in a standing surfboard and further attacked Huxley’s leg. Huxley came back with a slam into the corner, a running big boot and more corner attacks, then threw Williams halfway across the ring.

Huxley hit a running crossbody into the ropes that threw Williams to the outside. As Huxley went to follow up, Williams rammed him into the ring post, then followed up with Bad Luck in the ring to pick up the pinfall victory.

**********

Xia Brookside came to the UK Performance Center and talked about how she would see Sid Scala real soon. A woman walked up to her and said she was already 15 minutes late to training. Brookside said she didn’t have to train with the other wrestlers and had some one on one training sessions, which the woman might not know about. She handed her a note and skipped off.

Mark Andrews talked about his match with Nathan Frazer from last week and put him over. Jordan Devlin walked up and said Andrews made rookie mistakes, talking about another performer during his 30 seconds on camera. He told him to drop the nice guy act and take some notes. A graphic then plugged a match with them for next week.

**********

Teoman & Rohan Raja defeated Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) (w/Joe Coffey) (09:31)

Wolfgang and Raja started and Raja immediately got beat up. Coffey was in next and kept the attacks going. Teoman got tagged in, but suffered the same fate.He eventually got the upper hand and Mark Coffey got worked over by the heels, who quickly tagged in and out. Coffey finally managed to dispose of both opponents and made the hot tag to Wolfgang, who ran wild for a bit. He hit a splash from the turnbuckles to the back of Raja for a near fall.

Teoman averted a top-rope axe handle, then smashed Wolfgang’s head into the turnbuckles before Raja and Teoman double-teamed him some more. Wolfgang evaded a handspring back elbow by Teoman, hit a double clothesline and tagged in Coffey, who hit a huge slam on Teoman for a close two count. Teoman and Wolfgang bonked into each other and both men were down, as the referee sent Coffey to his corner.

Suddenly Charlie Dempsey ran out and attacked Joe Coffey at ringside, slamming him into the stairs. Mark Coffey looked to get involved, but was rammed into the dasher boards by Raja. Back in the ring, Teoman hit the Evil Eye on Wolfgang, followed by a jumping STO by Raja for the pin.

Final Thoughts —

  • A-Kid vs. Gradwell was a good match that picked up steam with a sequence for close near falls by the end.
  • The women’s match was more a backdrop for an angle with Isla Dawn it seemed, who looks to be collecting items from women all over the roster.
  • Williams and Huxley was fun whenever Huxley was in charge. He is criminally underused as the big, Brody-like wild man who also is super agile.
  • The tag team main event was decent, with Charlie Dempsey’s interference adding a lot of intrigue for the future. Dempsey is incredibly crisp and great for his level of experience and even him running in and attacking Coffey looked tremendous.

Next week —

  • Mark Andrews vs. Jordan Devlin

In two weeks: —

  • NXT UK Championship: Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Rampage Brown

NXT UK results: Tyler Bate vs. Noam Dar Heritage Cup match

Report —

Mark Coffey (w/Wolfgang) defeated Rohan Raja (w/Teoman) (05:54)

Coffey started strong but quickly got trapped in the ropes and had his arm worked over. Coffey eventually came back with a lariat and slam, but sold the damage his arm had taken.

Coffey eventually scored the pin after a diving, running uppercut.

After the match, Teoman and Raja attacked Gallus until officials ran in to break up the brawl.

**********

Tyler Bate warmed up with Trent Seven backstage.

A video looked at the mayhem after last week’s tag team match between Symbiosis and Dave Mastiff/Jack Starz. In two weeks, there will be a triple threat match between Symbiosis, Mastiff/Starz and Ashton Smith & Oliver Carter.

Charlie Dempsey was interviewed backstage about his match with Danny Jones later tonight. Just as he was talking about how their styles would mesh, Gallus stormed in and Wolfgang asked Dempsey if he had seen Teoman and to tell him they were looking for him. Dempsey was frustrated and said this had been the second time now that this (Gallus interrupting him) had happened.

**********

Amale defeated Myla Grace (03:49)

Myla Grace made her NXT UK debut here. Grace has been around since at least 2018 and had matches all over the UK and Ireland, including OTT.  She also has a street-dancing background.

Amale started out very aggressively and beat down on Grace, who briefly came back with a rollup but got taken out by double knees as she stormed the corner. Amale hit a spinning neckbreaker, but Myla kicked out at one. At that point, Blair Davenport wandered out from the back and started watching the match.

Myla hit some spinning head scissors, a 619 and a tornado DDT for a two count. Amale then nonchalantly kicked her in the face and hit the Hopebreaker (a fisherman spinebuster) for the pin and the win. Davenport looked on bemused, then walked off again.

**********

Noam Dar warmed up backstage.

Aleah James was interviewed about her win over Xia Brookside from last week. Nina Samuels walked up and welcomed us to another edition of the Nina Samuels Show. She then said James did not “measure up” to her (as she looked about one foot shorter than Samuels). James asked if there was a problem, then walked off, saying she wasn’t doing this right now

Flash Morgan Webster was in front of a door. Dani Luna asked if he was sure about this. He opened the door and it was Rampage Brown’s dressing room. He told Webster not to try it (Webster is running around, slapping people lately) and Webster turned away but then tried anyway. Brown blocked him, grabbed him by the throat and pushed him against the wall. He told Webster if he wanted a match, all he had to do was ask. Webster then was happy because he “got him.”

**********

Charlie Dempsey defeated Danny Jones (04:52)

Dempsey started by schooling Jones with takedowns, suplexes and submission holds. Jones hit a high hip toss and a number of strikes and attempted to lock in a sleeper of his own. Dempsey tried to work his way into a double wristlock, then bridged into the corner, pulling Jones’ head into it and kept on with impressive mat wrestling.

He locked in a standing cravate, then hit a suplex from the hold. Dempsey then hit two consecutive butterfly suplexes, never releasing Jones from his grip and rolled backward on top of him from the bridge both times. He then locked in a sort of double wristlock crossface for the submission victory.

**********

They then aired a great video hyping up the Meiko Satomura vs, Jinny for the NXT UK Women’s title match for next week. match. Jinny said Meiko was getting old, frail and weak. Satomura said she was prepared and while Jinny was the queen, she was the final boss.

Isla Dawn did some more scary stuff in the woods with her box and said some weird stuff, all while painting around her face with lipstick. Okay then. Still scarier than Alexa Bliss and her doll.

NXT UK Heritage Cup: Noam Dar (w/Sha Samuels) defeated Tyler Bate (w/Trent Seven) 1-1 in Round 6  to win the Cup (17:34)

They had a tale of the tape graphic. No intangibles in NXT UK, but accolades.

Round 1

They went back and forth in the round, feeling each other out. Dar tried provoking Bate as the round ended but he would have none of it.

Round 2

Bate worked over Dar’s legs early until Dar fled to the ropes. The pace picked up and Bate eventually hit the airplane spin, but Dar escaped. They hit a double clothesline with 15 seconds left, then were entangled in a lockup until time ran out.

Round 3

Bate threw Dar to ringside, but Dar got back in as Bate went for a dive. He then hit a kick on Bate through the ropes and sent him into the ring steps. Back inside, he hit the Nova Roller to pick up the first fall at 0:59 of the round. Dar 1-0

Round 4

Dar immediately worked over Bate, using his momentum. Bate came back and hit a spinning European uppercut off the turnbuckles, then hit an exploder suplex and a running shooting star press, but Dar countered for a near fall. Bate hit the slingshot lariat, then went for Tyler Driver ’97 and got the pin at 2:03 of the round. Bate 1-1

Round 5

Bate started with a dragon screw, but Dar hit one off the turnbuckles in return, then hit a running uppercut for a close near fall. Dar kept targeting the left leg with kicks. Seven advised Bate to use the Birminghammer, but Dar raked the eyes and hit a spinning back elbow for another close near fall. Bate locked in a knee bar with about 20 seconds left, but Dar sat up and they traded punches as the round ended.

Round 6

They traded kicks early, and Dar went to the top, but Bate jumped up and hit a top rope exploder, followed with a dive through the ropes as Dar had rolled outside.

Samuels looked after Dar, but Bate wiped out both men with a plancha. Dar got a roll up off a Tiger Driver ’97 attempt, Dar caught Bate’s leg off a slingshot lariat and went for the Champagne knee bar, but Bate rolled through and hit a Saito suplex-style German. At that point, Pretty Deadly walked out and distracted Bate, allowing Dar to roll him up for a near fall.

Dar again locked in the Champagne knee bar as Seven started brawling with Pretty Deadly on the outside. They took his towel and were attempting to throw it into the ring, with Seven trying to get it back. As Seven finally yanked it away, the momentum led to him accidentally throwing it into the ring himself, which the ref took as a sign that Seven had thrown in the towel for Bate.

Dar thus won the match and the Heritage Cup due to apparent submission at 2:45 of the round.

If Bate had managed another 15 seconds, he would have retained under Heritage Cup rules. Dar wins 2-1.

Pretty Deadly were clapping and celebrating outside the ring as Seven tried to explain to Bate what had happened. Dar and Samuels celebrated the victory in the ring.

Final thoughts —

The main event was excellent with a somewhat anticlimactic finish, but it builds nicely into a Moustache Mountain vs. Pretty Deadly feud and Dar as a heel now can have some great Heritage Cup matches against the likes of Ben Carter, A-Kid, Charlie Dempsey, Mark Andrews or Flash Morgan Webster.

Charlie Dempsey vs. Danny Jones was excellent and with a bit more exposure, I could even see Dempsey ranking in the top 10 for Best Technical Wrestler in the Observer Awards. I’d love to see him on a bigger stage in NXT 2.0 or maybe even in NJPW down the line as a protege of Zack Sabre Jr.

Next week —

  • Meiko Satomura (c) vs. Jinny for the NXT UK Women’s Championship

In two weeks —

Aleah James defeated Xia Brookside (04:15)

James cut a split-screen promo on her way to the ring where she was working out backstage.

They shook hands as the match started and Aleah showed some athletic prowess to counter some wrist locks. Aleah locked in head scissors which took Xia some effort to escape from.

After some back and forth, Brookside hit the double knees to the back of Aleah’s head, then put her on the top rope. Aleah kicked her off and hit a sunset flip off the turnbuckles for the surprise win.

Aleah was both happy and surprised, then offered her hand to Xia, who angrily slapped it away and then took out her frustration on the ring steps.

**********

Meiko Satomura was working out with Emilia McKenzie. She was asked about her upcoming match with Jinny and said it was good timing for a title match.

Kenny Williams walked through the night. He said he never claimed he was unbeatable. He said people would be surprised about what he had planned next and would see how low the scum of the earth can go.

**********

Dave Mastiff & Jack Starz defeated Symbiosis (Primate & T-Bone) (w/Eddie Dennis) by DQ (08:19)

Pretty Deadly were on commentary for this match.

Starz and T-Bone started, and Starz outwrestled and outran his bigger opponent, but eventually got overpowered.

Primate was in next, but quickly got thrown from the ring. Mastiff tagged in, hot a senton, then tagged Starz who hit a slingshot splash.

Starz eventually got overpowered and was attacked at ringside as the referee was distracted. T-Bone hit a huge sit-down powerbomb for a near fall. Later, T-Bone hit a vertical suplex on Starz and walked around the ring with him.

Starz eventually outsmarted Symbiosis and tagged in Mastiff, who ran wild on T-Bone. He hit a rolling fireman’s carry, German suplex and Into the Void. As he was about to finish T-Bone, Eddie Dennis attacked Starz with a steel chair on the outside for the DQ.

Symbiosis attacked Mastiff and Starz further, until Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith made the save.

A video on Amale aired. She talked about how a loss like she had recently may never happen again. She will be in action next week.

Mark Coffey and Wolfgang interrupted and told him not to get in their way with his legacy, but encouraged him to build one. Dempsey then said he wanted to get back to training. A commotion broke out and Galleu got into it with Teoman and Rohan Raja as Dempsey looked on and officials separated the four men.

Supernova Sessions with Tyler Bate

The show took place in the ring, as there were some fans back at the studio

Bate came out with Trent Seven, who Dar said wasn’t invited. He kept insulting Seven, saying he rode Tyler’s coat tails. Dar gave Bate the opportunity to relinquish the Heritage Cup before their match next week, which Bate teased, but of course didn’t do. Bate said every time they fought, the outcome was the same and Bate beat Dar.

Dar then shoved Tyler and ran from the ring, Bate wanted to go after him, but Seven held him back.

**********

Jordan Devlin was working out backstage with his headphones on. Gallus snuck into the room and stole his ring jacket.

Jordan Devlin defeated Joe Coffey (14:08)

Coffey came out wearing Devlin’s ring jacket. Devlin flew in and attacked him from behind before the bell even rung. They brawled back and forth around ringside. Devlin rolled Coffey into the ring, took out his leg and hit a twisting slingshot senton. The referee finally started the match.

Coffey took back over and hit two side slams. He had Devlin in an arm bar for a long time with Devlin not being able to escape. Eventually he did and rammed Coffey into the ring post. Devlin dominated, including hitting a hard knee into Coffey’s gut. Devlin locked in an abdominal stretch to further work over Coffey’s ribs.

Eventually Coffey got out, but quickly found himself in some body scissors. Devlin came off the top, but Coffey hit him with a forearm in mid-air.

Coffey hit a flying shoulder block for a near-fall, then hit a power slam for another one. Devlin came back with the uranage/standing moonsault combo. Coffey powered up and hit the double-jump reverse crossbody for another two-count, but fell victim to a slingshot twisting cutter seconds later.

Coffey was at ringside and got hit with a soccer kick to the sternum, followed by a beautiful Asai moonsault to the outside. Devlin went to the top rope once more, but Coffey jumped up and hit an overhead belly-to-belly superplex.

Coffey hit a few strikes, which sent Devlin to the mat for another near fall. He followed with the Glasgow Sendoff, but Devlin head-butted him as he went for All the Best for the Bells.

Devlin followed with a 450 off the top for a very, very close near fall. He then hit Devlin Side for the pinfall victory.

A video of Teoman and Rohan Raja at a dinner table aired. Teoman looked mad. Rohan apologized for things not going their way in the Heritage Cup contenders tournament. He said they had been outnumbered. Teoman said he was the babo of NXT UK and it was his responsibility. He said their family would grow.

Sid Scala was on the phone when Jinny interrupted. He told her that she would face Meiko Satomura in three weeks. Jinny was pleased, then told Scala to burn his clothes.

**********

Sha Samuels defeated Flash Morgan Webster (08:17)

Samuels dominated early, then clotheslined Webster to the outside. Webster narrowly made it back into the ring at nine, then quickly fell victim to a lariat. Webster came back with a moonsault block from the turnbuckles, then sent Samuels to the apron and hit a springboard dropkick, followed by a running dive.

After some action in the ring, Samuels was at ringside again and got wiped out by a top rope somersault by Webster, leading to a near fall back in the ring. Webster then went for another springboard attack, but Samuels turned it into a spinebuster and scored the win.

**********

Nina Samuels interviewed Xia Brookside for her show. She asked Xia how it felt losing to a Amale, Blair Davenport and Dani Luna? Xia said that Samuels had lost to all of them too. Samuels then asked Xia why she didn’t face Aleah James, trying to stir something up. Xia called Aleah over and they casually agreed to have a match and work out together. Samuels played it up like there had been some kind of big drama.

Gallus walked in on a meeting with Sid Scala and Jordan Devlin. Devlin said he had just talked to Scala about setting up a rematch with Joe Coffey with the rest of Gallus banned from ringside. He also said an Ace always beats a king and how Coffey had two TakeOver main events and came away with nothing, while Devlin had one shot at a title and won it.

NXT UK Championship: Ilja Dragunov defeated A-Kid to retain the title (19:21)

A-Kid used submissions early, but Ilja escaped. This quickly turned into a battle of chops versus leg kicks, before Ilja hit a big German suplex takedown. Ilja hit the Konstantin Special (seesaw lariat), sending A-Kid to the mat. Ilja tried working over A-Kid’s shin, which took some damage after Dragunov had checked one of his kicks.

Dragunov intensified his strategy, repeatedly targeting the leg and weakening his challenger’s base. A-Kid managed to apply an armbar, which Ilja quickly turned into a pinning combination, but it was obvious that his arm had take some damage. A-Kid targeted the arm, then hit a knee to the face and German suplex that left the champion glassy eyed. It turned once more into a battle of kicks and strikes, with Dragunov catching a kick, but A-Kid going after the shoulder.

A-Kid hit another kick, then hit a fisherman’s suplex. but couldn’t put pressure on both legs, allowing Ilja to narrowly kick out. Ilja managed to hit two German suplexes, with A-Kid looking to apply an armbar after each. Ilja followed with elbow strikes, then hit a high-angle amateur takedown. Ilja went for a top-rope senton, but A-Kid moved out of the way.

A-Kid applied a sleeper, but Ilja escaped just long enough to eat a running kick. A-Kid reapplied the sleeper, but Ilja backed him into the corner. A-Kid went to the top with Ilja looking to stop him, but ending up with another arm bar in the ropes. Ilja then hit a leg-capture superplex off the top that had both men down. Ilja went for Torpedo Moscow, but A-Kid hit a flying superkick in mid-air, scoring a near fall with Ilja kicking out at 2.9.

They traded strikes and A-Kid went for an arm bar and eventually a triangle. Ilja powerbombed him twice, but couldn’t break the hold. A-Kid went for the omaplata with Ilja narrowly escaping.

Ilja came back with a Torpedo Moscow to the leg, then followed up with another one for the pin and his first title defense.

Ilja posed with the belt, then offered his hand to A-Kid in respect.

Final Thoughts:

  • The first two matches were mostly basic squash matches.
  • The main event was really good with a great story of both men working over their opponent’s injuries.

Next week:

  • Symbiosis vs. Jack Starz & Dave Mastiff
  • Meiko Satomura defending against Jinny was announced as taking place in three weeks
