Nathan Frazer wins Heritage Cup trophy on WWE NXT

Nathan Frazer is the new Heritage Cup champion.

Frazer won the championship on Tuesday’s NXT. The finish of the match had both Frazer and Oro Mensah tied at 1 one fall each. Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend hopped up on the apron and attempted to distract the referee to help Mensah. Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz emerged and took them off the apron. This allowed Frazer to hit a phoenix splash and pin Mensah. Per the rules of the Heritage Cup, this gave the win and the trophy to Frazer.

Originally, Noam Dar was set to defend the trophy against Frazer. Before the match, Dar appeared on crutches and announced that he would not be able to wrestle due to injury and said Mensah would defend the title in his place.

Dar had been Heritage Champion dating back to July 7 of last year. When he returned to NXT television in April, he carried the trophy with him. At Battleground last month, he retained the trophy against Dragon Lee thanks to help from Legend, Jackson, and Mensah, forming a new stable called the Meta-Four.

Noam Dar returns with Heritage Cup trophy on WWE NXT

Noam Dar has resurfaced.

Dar appeared on Tuesday’s NXT. Dragon Lee and Nathan Frazer were about to start their match when Dar entered through the crowd, carrying the NXT UK Heritage Cup trophy. He cut a promo saying he would defend the trophy when he sees fit. After scoring the victory, Dragon Lee pointed at Dar as the two had a staredown.

This is the first time Dar has appeared on WWE television since July of last year, when he won the Heritage Cup trophy from Mark Coffey on an episode of NXT UK. The Heritiage Cup is a championship trophy that is defended via British rounds rules.

Dar first appeared in WWE as part of the Cruiserweight Classic tournament in 2016, eventually losing to Zack Sabre Jr. in the quarterfinals. He eventually became a fixture in WWE’s cruiserweight division, appearing on 205 Live. In 2018, he moved over to the NXT UK brand, where he regularly competed for the next four years. He was in his second reign as Heritage Cup Champion when the brand was shut down.
