NXT TV taping results: War Machine get their WWE team name

War Machine arrived on NXT television and got their WWE team name at tonight’s pre-TakeOver tapings in New Orleans.

Ray Rowe and Hanson interrupted a match between Heavy Machinery and Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss, destroying both teams in the process. It was revealed that they’ll be using “War Raiders” as their name.

The other match taped tonight was Kairi Sane vs. Lacey Evans. Sane won after hitting her Insane Elbow.

Sane vs. Evans was advertised in advance for Wednesday’s episode of NXT TV, and the War Raiders’ debut should air as well. The show will also feature video packages and interviews from the fallout of TakeOver: New Orleans.

After Monday and Tuesday’s post-WrestleMania editions of Raw and SmackDown, there will be NXT TV tapings at Full Sail University this coming Wednesday. The next TakeOver special is scheduled for Chicago on June 16th as part of Money in the Bank weekend.

Pre-NXT TakeOver TV taping results: Roderick Strong vs. Tyler Bate

Before TakeOver: Philadelphia went on the air last night, three matches were taped at the Wells Fargo Center for Wednesday’s episode of NXT television.

The tapings were headlined by Roderick Strong facing Tyler Bate in a WWE United Kingdom Championship number one contender’s match.

– Nikki Cross defeated Lacey Evans

Cross got a good reaction and won with her swinging fisherman neckbreaker. This was a short match, but it was good.

– TM61 defeated The Ealy Brothers

This was TM61’s televised in-ring return after Shane Thorne’s knee surgery from last year, though they’ve been back on house shows for a few months. They got a huge reaction, put in a great performance, and won with the Thunder Valley.

– Roderick Strong defeated Tyler Bate in a WWE United Kingdom Championship number one contender’s match

They had a very good match, with Strong winning with a vertical suplex into a double knees backbreaker. There were dueling chants for both, along with chants of “NXT” and “this is awesome.”

Strong will get the next shot at Pete Dunne’s title.

NXT pre-TakeOver TV taping results: Dunne vs. Gargano

Prior to last night’s TakeOver: War Games broadcast, NXT taped two matches for Wednesday’s episode of television. Pete Dunne defended his WWE United Kingdom Championship against Johnny Gargano and Ruby Riot faced Sonya Deville:

– Ruby Riot defeated Sonya Deville

Riot won with a kick to the head.

– WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne defeated Johnny Gargano to retain his title

This was said to be a very good/excellent match. Dunne hit the Bitter End to retain.

Wednesday’s show will also feature video packages and post-match interviews from the fallout to TakeOver. The first set of TV tapings since War Games will take place at Full Sail University on November 29th. With that falling on a Wednesday, it’s not clear what will be airing on that week’s show.

Though it wasn’t on TV or in front of the crowd, Gargano and Shawn Michaels showed off the results of the “ab off” they had been building up on Twitter last night:

NXT pre-TakeOver TV taping results: Pete Dunne returns

Prior to tonight’s TakeOver event, NXT taped next week’s TV episode at the Barclays Center. Here’s a rundown of what happened:

– The crowd was awaiting Adam Cole’s debut all night. There were many scattered “Adam Cole Bay-Bay!” chants from the moment I got into the arena until the action started.

While she and Becky Lynch were being interviewed by Renee Young on the video screen for the pre-show, Bayley got some pretty solid boos when she spoke.

– No Way Jose vs. Lars Sullivan ended in a no contest

No Way Jose came out to a strong reaction and did the conga line with some people from the crowd, but he was attacked by Sullivan during it. Sullivan threw Jose into the boards and laid him out with a slam before leaving. Jose was helped up by referees.

– Peyton Royce (w/ Billie Kay) defeated Sarah Logan

Logan shined while making a comeback until Royce eventually got the win with a fisherman’s suplex.

– WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne & Wolfgang defeated Tyler Bate & Trent Seven

This was Dunne’s first match since he was pulled from PROGRESS Wrestling’s shows in the US last weekend after being busted open in an indie match. He got a really good reaction, with Bate and Seven getting one as well. There was a “This is PROGRESS” chant at one point.

They had a good tag match. Bate hit the Tyler Driver ’97 on Dunne and appeared to have it won, but Dunne had made a tag and Wolfgang came off the top with a swanton for the pin.

NXT pre-TakeOver TV taping results: Drew McIntyre vs. Wesley Blake

Submitted by reader Stanley Kosek

Here are results from the matches that were taped for NXT TV at the Allstate Arena prior to TakeOver going on the air:

– Aleister Black defeated Curt Hawkins

The crowd went nuts for Black. He took most of the match, then got the pin after hitting Black Mass.

– The Velveteen Dream (Patrick Clark) defeated Robert “Ego” Anthony

Anthony wrestles for local indies and got a decent pop for his appearance here. It was a squash match, but it was fine for what it was because Anthony can work. The Velveteen Dream won with an elbow from the top rope.

– Drew McIntyre defeated Wesley Blake

The pop that McIntyre got was okay, but it wasn’t anything huge. Blake got a decent amount of offense in the match. It was an okay match, though it was choppy at parts. McIntyre won with the Claymore Kick.

NXT pre-TakeOver TV taping results: El Vagabundo appears

Submitted by Pat Laprade

NXT taped TV prior to TakeOver: Orlando at the Amway Center tonight:

– Heavy Machinery defeated The Bollywood Boyz when Otis Dozovic was holding one of the Bollywoods in the same position Mark Henry would for a World’s Strongest Slam, then Tucker Knight ran the ropes and splashed his partner in the back as Dozovic executed the slam. The move was hard to explain, but very cool to watch.

– Peyton Royce defeated Aliyah with a bridging fisherman’s suplex.

– Oney Lorcan defeated El Vagabundo (Elias Samson)

El Vagabundo came out. It was The Drifter with a lucha mask and his guitar after he lost a loser leaves NXT match to Kassius Ohno on TV. He sang a song and then Lorcan took the mic saying “I know you’re The Drifter, you know you’re The Drifter, these people know you’re The Drifter” and then the fans started chanting “No! No! No!” and a huge “Vagabundo.” Great stuff.

After just a few minutes, Lorcan removed the mask and the crowd started booing. Soon after, Lorcan pinned him with a standing blockbuster. A woman security guard escorted Samson to the backstage area by grabbing him by the hair.
