Semifinals set for NJPW World TV title tournament

The semifinals of the NJPW World TV title tournament are set.

The tournament continued Sunday from the Makuhari Messe International Conference Hall 1 in Chiba, Japan. Ren Narita defeated Toru Yano and SANADA defeated KENTA in the final two quarterfinal matches.

SANADA and Narita will face each other in the semifinals on November 5 from Osaka. The winner of that match will move on to face the winner of Zack Sabre. Jr. vs. EVIL in the finals.

Two wrestlers advance to semifinals of NJPW World TV title tournament

The first semifinal match in the NJPW World TV title tournament is set. 

The tournament continued on Thursday from Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall. EVIL defeated YOSHI-HASHI in the semi-main event and Zack Sabre Jr. defeated David Finlay to close out the show. ZSJ and EVIL will face off against each other in the semi-finals on November 5. 

The final two quarter-final matches in the tournament will take place Sunday, October 30 from Chiba. SANADA will face KENTA and Toru Yano will take on Ren Narita on the show.

NJPW also announced on Thursday that for the first time in three years, Fantasticamania will return in 2023. CMLL stars will travel to Japan for the tour beginning on February 22 in Tachikawa and concluding with two back-to-back shows from Korakuen Hall on February 27 & 28.

Two wrestlers advance in NJPW World TV title tournament

Two more wrestlers have advanced to the second round of the NJPW World TV title tournament.

SANADA and KENTA will both move on to the tournament quarter-finals after victories on Sunday’s show from Niigata. KENTA defeated Hirooki Goto in the night’s semi-main event and SANADA beat Taichi to close the show. 

SANADA and KENTA will face each other in the next round on Sunday, October 30 from Chiba. 

All matches in the tournament have a 15-minute time limit. If the match goes to a time-limit draw, a coin flip will be used to determine who advances.

Two more wrestlers advance in NJPW World TV title tournament

NJPW was back at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on Saturday for the second day of its Battle Autumn tour.

Two more matches in the NJPW World Television Championship tournament took place at the show. In an upset, YOSHI-HASHI defeated Jeff Cobb in the main event. EVIL also defeated Aaron Henare to advance to the second round.

The second-round match between EVIL and YOSHI-HASHI will take place on October 27. That show will also feature Zack Sabre Jr. vs. David Finlay in a second-round matchup.

The NJPW World TV title was created to highlight “the bond between NJPW and TV Asahi, and the continued growth of NJPW World.” The tournament will conclude at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4.

NJPW World TV title matches have a 15-minute time limit. If tournament matches don’t end within that 15-minute limit, there will be a coin toss to determine the winner.

First two wrestlers advance in NJPW World TV title tournament

The NJPW World Television Championship tournament got underway at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on Friday.

Two TV title tournament matches took place at the first show on NJPW’s Battle Autumn tour. Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Alex Zayne to advance to the next round, while David Finlay also advanced by defeating Yoshinobu Kanemaru.

Sabre and FInlay will face off in a second-round match on Thursday, October 27.

The NJPW World Television Championship was unveiled at NJPW’s Declaration of Power event this month. The title “highlights the bond between NJPW and TV Asahi, and the continued growth of NJPW World.” The inaugural champion will be crowned at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

NJPW World TV title matches will have a 15-minute time limit. Tournament matches are also being contested under those rules.

If a tournament match ends in a draw, there will be a coin toss to decide the winner.

The TV title tournament continues on Saturday with Jeff Cobb vs. YOSHI-HASHI and EVIL vs. Aaron Henare in first-round matches. The full list of first-round matchups is listed below:
