First matches official for NJPW Strong Fighting Spirit Unleashed

NJPW has announced the first two matches for their Saturday, October 28 Fighting Spirit Unleashed event. 

CMLL will be heavily involved in the card, as both matches announced so far will feature talent from the Mexican promotion. 

In a unique eight-man tag, Atlantis will team with Hiroshi Tanahashi, Mistico, and Atlantis Jr. against Rocky Romero, Tiger Mask, Soberano Jr., and Adrian Quest. The match is being promoted as a celebration of Atlantis’ 40th anniversary in pro wrestling. 

Also announced, Stephanie Vaquer and Zeuxis will team against Lluvia and Johnnie Robbie in a women’s division tag team bout. Vaquer was part of a one-night tournament in May to crown the first-ever NJPW Strong Women’s Champion.

The Fighting Spirit Unleashed event is being run under the NJPW Strong branding and will air on pay-per-view, with the show later airing as part of the weekly NJPW Strong show on NJPW World. 

Sam’s Town in Las Vegas, Nevada will host the event.

NJPW announces Fighting Spirit Unleashed for Las Vegas

NJPW has officially announced the 2023 edition of Fighting Spirit Unleashed. 

This year’s event will take place Saturday, October 28, 2023, from Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tickets to the show will go on sale beginning Tuesday, July 18.

NJPW is also gearing up for the start of the G1 Climax. Night one of the tournament begins this Saturday, July 15 from Hokkaido.

Fred Rosser vs. TJP title match set for this week’s NJPW Strong

An Openweight Championship match headlines this week’s NJPW Strong episode. 

In the conclusion of the Fighting Spirit Unleashed series, Fred Rosser will defend the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship against United Empire’s TJP in the main event. 

Also announced for Saturday’s episode, Aaron Solo of AEW’s The Factory will face the debuting Che Cabrera. 

In Saturday’s opening contest, Kevin Knight and The DKC of LA Dojo will take on Bateman and Barrett Brown of Stray Dog Army in tag team action. 

The Fighting Spirit Unleashed series of Strong episodes was taped on August 21 in Los Angeles at the Vermont Hollywood.

Alan Angels to headline this week’s NJPW Strong

Former AEW talent and a former member of The Dark Order Alan Angels will appear in the main event of this week’s NJPW Strong episode. 

Angels faces IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Taiji Ishimori in the headlining match of Saturday’s Fighting Spirit Unleashed episode of Strong. 

Also set for Strong, LA Dojo’s Ren Narita takes on the debuting Jakob Austin Young in a singles bout. 

In tag team action, Christopher Daniels teams with Yuya Uemura against TMDK’s Shane Haste and Mikey Nicholls on Saturday’s show. 

In Saturday’s opener, Keita takes on AEW’s QT Marshall.

An NJPW Strong Tag Team title match is one of four new bouts announced for Sunday’s Fighting Spirit Unleashed taping in Los Angeles. 

Aussie Open’s Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis will defend the NJPW Strong Tag titles against West Coast Wrecking Crew’s Jorel Nelson and Royce Isaacs in a match announced on Tuesday.

Alan Angels vs. Taiji Ishimori is one of three new matches announced for the August 21 NJPW Strong: Fighting Spirit Unleashed taping in Los Angeles. 

Angels, a former member of AEW’s Dark Order, will take on the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion at Fighting Spirit Unleashed in a non-title match announced on Tuesday. 

Also added to the August 21 lineup, Adrian Quest will take on Peter Avalon in a singles contest. 

The third new match announced will see AEW’s Aaron Solo vs. the debuting Che Cabrera.

NJPW Strong Fighting Spirit Unleashed taping announced for Los Angeles

NJPW is returning to Los Angeles in August. 

The company announced Wednesday night that NJPW Strong: Fighting Spirit Unleashed will be taped at the Vermont Hollywood in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 21. 

Tickets for the taping will go on sale Friday, July 8 at 10 a.m. Pacific time, with prices ranging from $25 for standing room tickets to $90 for ringside seats. 

Current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White, and NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Fred Rosser are the only talent announced for the event so far. 

NJPW has run the Vermont Hollywood for Strong tapings four times before, with Nemesis in December 2021, Rivals in February, Mutiny in April, and Ignition in June. 

Early Thursday, NJPW held a press conference in Japan to announce their business strategy for the remainder of 2022, and touted the success of Strong as a touring brand in the US market. 

The company also announced that STARDOM wrestlers will begin appearing on the Strong brand on US shows “In adapting NJPW to the global standard and audience expectations.”

NJPW Strong to tape in front of fans for the first time

NJPW has announced that a taping of Strong will be open to fans for the first time. 

The company issued a release today stating that tickets will be sold for the Fighting Spirit Unleashed NJPW Strong taping on Monday, August 16 in Long Beach, California. 

Nine matches will be taped at the event, held at Thunder Studio.Ticket prices will range from $80-$120. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, June 30 at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Fans in attendance will be asked to wear a mask when not eating or drinking. Tickets will be available at this link.
