WWE Rochester live results: The Bellas return to the ring

Submitted by Matt Prentice

– Sasha Banks & Bayley defeated Alexa Bliss & Alicia Fox

Banks and Bayley won via roll-up. The crowd gave them the big star reaction.

– Finn Balor defeated Baron Corbin

After Balor won with a roll-up, Corbin jumped him and demanded that the match be restarted.

– Baron Corbin defeated Finn Balor

Corbin pinned him with the End of Days.

– An Elias segment with Bobby Lashley led to Elias eventually jumping Lashley, but Lashley fought back and left him laying with a stalling vertical suplex.

– Raw Tag Team Champions The B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) defeated Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt and The Revival in a triple threat match to retain their titles

The B-Team retained with a roll-up.

– Akam defeated Tyler Breeze

This was a squash win for Akam.

– Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose defeated Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre

They had a very good match that had the crowd whipped into a frenzy by the end.

– No Way Jose, Heath Slater, Rhyno & Zack Ryder defeated Mike Kanellis, The Ascension & Curt Hawkins

– Bobby Roode defeated Jinder Mahal

Roode revealed that he was wearing a Rochester Americans hockey jersey under his robe, which was a big hit with the audience.

– Nikki Bella, Brie Bella & Ember Moon defeated The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan)

The Bellas received a massive pop. This was Nikki’s first match since a Madison Square Garden house show in March where she teamed with John Cena to defeat Sonya Deville & Elias and Brie’s first match since the women’s Royal Rumble this January.

Nikki hit the Rack Attack 2.0 on Morgan for the win.

– Universal Champion Roman Reigns went to a double countout with Braun Strowman

Both wrestlers battled back to the ring after the match, with Reigns eventually closing the show by spearing Strowman through a table to a huge pop. Reigns and Strowman both got the main event babyface reaction throughout the match. Very little in the way of jeers for Reigns.

The show clocked in at just under three hours including intermission. It was a fun night out.

John Cena and Nikki Bella ‘officially part ways’

Following the season three finale of Total Bellas airing on television, Nikki Bella is saying that her relationship with John Cena is officially over.

“After I called off the engagement, we tried to work on our relationship to get back to where it was, and in order to move forward with our wedding. After much time and soul-searching alone and together, we have decided to officially part ways,” Bella said in a statement to People.com yesterday.

“I had a beautiful and loving 6-year relationship with a wonderful man. I have the utmost respect for John, but I know this is what’s best for me.”

Bella and Cena first announced their split in April, along with canceling their wedding that was supposed to take place in May. Cena then appeared on the Today Show on May 14, fueling speculation over how much of their breakup was real and how much was for Total Bellas. He said he still loved Bella, wanted to marry her, and have a family with her.

TMZ reported last week that Bella has started shopping for a home of her own in San Diego. TMZ noted that she’s been living in Cena’s house in the area.

Cena-Nikki relationship drama doesn’t boost Total Bellas ratings

The media push leading up to Sunday and all of the hype over John Cena and Nikki Bella’s relationship status didn’t mean much for Total Bellas ratings.

The show’s third season premiere averaged 517,000 total viewers and a 0.27 rating in the 18-49 demo on E!. That’s down from 674,000 viewers for the season two finale and 681,000 for last season’s premiere.

It’s also the lowest viewership for an episode in series history, though Total Bellas was moving to a new night for this season after previously airing on Wednesdays.

Total Bellas finished 24th on cable in the 18-49 demo on Sunday night. The Golden State Warriors’ game three win over the Houston Rockets in the NBA Western Conference finals led the night with 7,797,000 viewers and a 2.88 rating in the demo.

After Cena and Bella announced their split in April, Cena appeared on the Today Show last week and said he still wants to marry Bella and have children with her. Bella then responded while at NBC Universal’s upfronts, saying she also has hope for their relationship. People.com most recently reported that they’re “basically back together.”

VIDEO: John Cena addresses his split from Nikki Bella

While co-hosting the Today Show this morning, John Cena opened up about the end of his relationship with Nikki Bella.

And though he said he got his heart broken out of nowhere, Cena left the door open for them to get back together. “I still love Nicole, I still would love to marry Nicole, I still would love to have a family with Nicole,” Cena said.

“I don’t want anybody else. I love Nicole, and I’m really trying to support her in her trying to find whatever it is that she wants that made this fall apart in the first place. And, in doing so, I’m also just trying to live. I don’t have any other hopes, other than maybe one day that we can work it out,” Cena added when responding to speculation of him being seen out in public after their breakup.

Cena said that, while he’s not a good communicator, Bella became his “number one” and he realized during their relationship that he’s willing to change things he’s been stubborn about in the past like wanting to have children.

Cena and Bella announced last month that they had broken up. Their wedding was scheduled to take place on May 5th following his in-ring proposal at WrestleMania 33 in 2017.

Video of Cena’s appearance on the Today Show is available to watch below:

Bella then responded to his comments while appearing at NBC Universal’s upfronts in New York City to promote the third season of Total Bellas, which will premiere on May 20th and, in part, focus on their issues. She said she was speechless about what he said, still had hope for their relationship as well, and wants to find herself and for her and Cena to be happy whether it’s together or apart.

WWE’s John Cena and Nikki Bella split up

After six years together, WWE mainstay and budding Hollywood star John Cena and fiancee Nikki Bella have parted ways, announced exclusively to US Weekly on Sunday.

In a joint statement to the magazine, they said, “While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives.”

The two made headlines at 2017’s WrestleMania 33 when, following a mixed tag match, Cena proposed to Bella (real name Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace) in the ring. The two have also been a staple of the E! reality TV show Total Bellas with sister, Brie, wife of Daniel Bryan.

The 34-year-old Bella is no longer a full-time member of the WWE roster while the 40-year-old Cena is essentially part-time as he balances a growing commitment to several Hollywood projects like his movie Blockers that was released last week.

John Cena proposes to Nikki Bella at WrestleMania

Sorry, ladies: John Cena is officially a taken man, proposing to longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella at WrestleMania Sunday.

To no one’s surprise, she said yes.

Following Cena and Bella’s mixed tag win over The Miz and Maryse on the Mania undercard, an emotional Cena did a promo talking about how he told Bella as she was going into neck surgery that he would one day marry her.

He got down on one knee, pulled out a big engagement ring, and Bella (real name Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace) said yes. Both were in tears, and hugged family members at ringside afterward.

This will be the second marriage for both the 39-year-old Cena and the 33-year-old Bella. This was Bella’s last match before she takes time off to heal her injured neck, while Cena is taking an extended absence to focus on Hollywood projects.

This storyline of sorts has been playing out on Total Divas and Total Bellas with Cena showing hesitancy to propose. Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez predicted the proposal on Wrestling Observer Radio some time ago, and considering Cena’s relatives were prominent at ringside, as well as Today personality Al Roker doing ring introductions, this was a virtual lock.

John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse set for WWE WrestleMania 33

Another one of WrestleMania’s key matches is officially in place.

It was announced on tonight’s SmackDown that John Cena & Nikki Bella would face The Miz & Maryse in a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania. That match had been expected for weeks and Dave Meltzer reported it was the plan in the February 6th edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Miz and Maryse continued to verbally attack Cena and Bella on SmackDown before the announcement, which brought the faces out to the ring. Daniel Bryan then made the match after Miz and Maryse tried to back away from confrontation.

There are now nine matches set for WrestleMania 33. The updated card for the show, which will take place on April 2nd in Orlando, Florida, is:

  • Universal Champion Goldberg defending against Brock Lesnar
  • WWE Champion Bray Wyatt defending against Randy Orton
  • The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns
  • John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse
  • Raw Women’s Champion Bayley defending against Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair in a triple threat match
  • SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defending against every available woman on the SmackDown roster
  • United States Champion Chris Jericho defending against Kevin Owens
  • Raw Tag Team Champions Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson defending against Enzo Amore & Big Cass and Cesaro & Sheamus in a triple threat match
  • The 2017 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

SmackDown six-woman tag team match booked for the Royal Rumble

The SmackDown Women’s Championship won’t be defended at the Royal Rumble, but the show’s women’s division will still be represented on Sunday.

Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella & Naomi will face Mickie James, Natalya & Alexa Bliss in a six-woman tag team match at the Alamodome. The match was announced on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

It will be James’ first time wrestling on the main roster since returning to the company and being revealed as La Luchadora last week.

With the addition of the six-woman tag, the Royal Rumble will be a rare pay-per-view with three women’s matches. Charlotte Flair defending her Raw Women’s Championship against Bayley, along with Sasha Banks taking on Nia Jax are also scheduled for the show.

The updated card for the Royal Rumble is:

  • The Royal Rumble match
  • AJ Styles defending the WWE Championship against John Cena
  • Kevin Owens defending the WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns in a no DQ match with Chris Jericho suspended above the ring in a shark cage
  • Charlotte Flair defending the Raw Women’s Championship against Bayley
  • Becky Lynch, Nikki Bella & Naomi vs. Mickie James, Natalya & SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss
  • Rich Swann defending the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Neville
  • Cesaro & Sheamus defending the Raw Tag Team Championship against Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson (kickoff show match)
  • Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax (kickoff show match)

Nikki Bella returns to the ring at WWE SummerSlam

Filling in for the suspended Eva Marie, Nikki Bella made her return to the ring on Sunday night at SummerSlam.

Marie was pulled from the scheduled six-woman tag team match featuring SmackDown’s women’s division after her 30-day suspension for a wellness policy violation was announced last Thursday. The match was then briefly advertised as a handicap match, but WWE.com teased that it was possible a replacement partner could be found in time for SummerSlam.

Continuing the ongoing storyline of Marie finding excuses not to wrestle, the reason given for her not being on the show was that she was on vacation in the British Isles after suffering from exhaustion and anxiety caused by hostile WWE fans.

Bella teamed with Natalya and Alexa Bliss to defeat Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Carmella. She picked up the win for her team after pinning Carmella.

Bella received a strong reaction from the crowd upon her return. She had been out of action since October 2015 after suffering a neck injury.

After a lengthy absence, Bella had been teasing that she was preparing for a comeback recently. Dave Meltzer noted in Sunday’s daily update that she had been cleared to return and was slated to be added to the SmackDown roster.

Nikki Bella teases return to the ring

With more depth needed to fill spots on both Raw and SmackDown, WWE’s women’s division may soon be seeing a new member added to one of its rosters.

Nikki Bella tweeted on Thursday morning that she received good news from her latest visit to the doctor, indicating that she has possibly been cleared to return to competition. She also teased that her next stop was the WWE Performance Center, with a picture of its rings included in the tweet.

Bella has been out of action since late 2015 with a significant neck injury, and there were concerns that it could possibly be career-threatening. She became the longest-reigning WWE diva’s champion in 2015 before dropping the title to current women’s champion Charlotte.

With the recent brand-extension, it’s still not entirely clear what will determine which roster Bella gets added to upon her return or if an additional title will eventually be added to the division.

Total Divastation: a review of WWE Total Divas, episode 6

By Kevin LaRose for WrestlingObserver.com

Brie and Nikki are in a historic hotel in Buffalo. Nikki says she is going to stay in Phoenix but Brie says she can’t stay with her because Nikki is too needy. John Cena, in a flashback, calls her a “needy monster.” Nikki has to stay alone in her mom’s giant house.

Backstage, everyone is touching Rosa. She is distressed that Bobby, the father of her unborn child, is an atheist. She hasn’t told her Christian mom yet. They’ve been dating for six months. Paige burps and apologizes to Rosa. Rosa says its ok, it smells good. Paige is worried because something bad happened on social media. Fox is upset, too.

Carrano is going to be pissed. Everyone is watching John Cena’s match. Nikki is freaking out because Cena broke his nose. Cena is still wrestling. Fox is talking to Rosa about Carrano who has been doing damage control for the social media problem. After all the fuss, Fox thinks it’s time for a lifestyle change.

Nattie is worried about Cena so she comes over to his house to drink wine with Nikki. Nikki tells Nattie that even though she’s fearless in the ring she has a lot of fear outside the ring.

*****

In Tulsa, OK, Fox tells everyone they are going to start a lifestyle change this weekend. She forces Paige to swear that they are not going to get into trouble.

At a red carpet event for WWE 2k16, a British journalist asks Nikki about John Cena’s nose.

In a car, Rosa is with Bobby the atheist. She tells him she is going to make pasta primavera, and he says that’s too much. She reminds him that he asked for a crazy girl. He’s excited to be a father. They’ve named the baby Jordan. Bobby says not to buy kale. His father doesn’t like kale. Rosa asks Bobby to pretend not to be an atheist. He won’t pretend. Bobby doesn’t want Jordan to get baptized and Rosa does.

I’m starting to worry that the Divas aren’t going to any nice restaurants this episode.

In a car, Fox and Paige are going to a furniture store. Paige asks to get food. Finally, they make it to a nice restaurant. Paige orders some drinks and Fox is upset because she wants to have a lifestyle change this weekend. Paige orders more drinks and tells the waiter she likes to go to karaoke and she wants to play bingo. The waiter tells her about dirty bingo. Fox is pissed but doesn’t say anything because she enjoys being self-righteously angry.

Meanwhile in Rosa’s life, she asks Bobby to baby proof the house. He reminds her that the baby isn’t coming for another 5 months. She wants to baby proof the house to impress Bobby the atheist’s dad. She hired a caterer to make dinner so she can pretend she did it.

Paige arrives at dirty bingo, but it’s just regular bingo. All the old guys are hitting on Paige and Fox. Paige is having fun flirting with all the old guys. Fox is not. At all. She’s frustrated because the furniture store is closing.

Brie and Nikki are checking into a nice hotel. Nikki wants to stay in the same room, but Brie needs some personal space. Nikki does not react well to the boundaries that Brie is attempting to set.

Bobby and his dad arrive at Rosa’s house and everything is going great with the parents. They make small talk, but then Rosa’s mom asks Bobby to pray. He tells her that he doesn’t pray. Everyone looks around the room nervously.

*****

Rosa says a prayer, while everyone but Bobby touches hands.

In a Florida bar, Fox complains that they didn’t go to the furniture store. She’s fed up and leaves the bar.

Back in Rosa’s apartment, Rosa asks Bobby’s dad if he likes fajitas. He doesn’t. Please also remember that Bobby’s dad also doesn’t like kale. Hopefully you will be able to use this information at some point in your life. Rosa’s mom wants the baby to be baptized. Bobby tries to explain that he doesn’t. He leaves the room. Rosa calms Bobby down and they come back in the house Rosa’s mom leaves. Bobby’s dad tells Rosa everything is going to be ok.

Nikki barges into Brie’s hotel room. Brie is pissed. She kicks the cameras out. She kicks Nikki out. Nikki doesn’t understand boundaries and tells Brie she hates her.

Back in Orlando, Paige returns home. Fox is mad. She tells Paige she’s mad because she is taking this lifestyle change seriously, and she needs support. Paige is sorry, she’s not ready to settle down, but she should have gone to the furniture store and not bingo.

In the hotel, Nikki asks Nattie if she can sleep with her. Nattie is lying in bed in full make-up. Nikki talks about how she is so frightened at night and has nightmares. Nikki admits she is terrified of death. Nattie thinks it’s because she didn’t have a father figure after her grandfather died. All this Cena injury stuff is triggering her old fears.

*****

To make up for yesterday, Paige decides to take Fox to a taxidermy stuff. Fox loves taxidermy stuff. They buy a horned animal skull and Fox is so stoked.

Backstage, Nattie tells Brie she got a psychic reading. Mr. Belding from “Saved By The Bell” comes up and gives Nattie a hug. Nattie tells Brie about all the dark stuff Nikki was saying last night She’s worried. Brie tells her it’s nothing. Nattie doesn’t think it’s nothing. Now Brie is worried.

In Phoenix, Brie invites Nikki over. She ask, “Why are you so anxious?” Nikki tells her she’s worried about death because of her grandfather dying. Brie had no idea Nikki was hurting so much. Brie feels bad, Nikki says she should feel bad. Brie realizes she’s been unfair to her sister. They talk about the Disney Channel.

And that’s all! I’ll leave it to greater philosophers than I to break down the very rich symbolic depictions of life and death as represented in this episode by Nikki’s fear of death, the taxidermy skull bought by Paige and Fox, and the coming birth of Rosa’s child, the baby Jordan. The brightest minds of this generation received an intellectual gift tonight, one whose magnificence will not be fully understood for several lifetimes.

Spoiler alert…
