MLW raises stakes of Battle Riot match

MLW has raised the stakes of Battle Riot VIII by announcing that the World Heavyweight Championship will now be on the line.

It was confirmed today that Mads Krule Krugger will enter the January 29 Battle Riot match and put his MLW World title up for grabs. The annual 40-man battle royal usually determines a future challenger for the belt, but this will be the second straight year the title itself has been defended. Matt Riddle retained in Battle Riot VII in 2025 before later dropping the championship to Krugger.

The Battle Riot is also set to include Alex Hammerstone, Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, Killer Kross, KUSHIDA, Templario, Bishop Dyer, Donovan Dijak, Adam Brooks, Ikuro Kwon, Okumura, Matthew Justice, Paul London, Mr. Thomas, Diego Hill, Jesus Rodriguez, Anthony Greene, Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, and Austin Aries.

Since the Battle Riot was introduced in 2018, it’s been won by Tom Lawlor, LA Park, Hammerstone, Jacob Fatu, Alex Kane, and Riddle (twice).

This year’s event is taking place in Kissimmee, Florida and will air live on MLW’s YouTube channel.

Former WWE NXT faction members to make MLW debut in Battle Riot

Two members of former WWE NXT faction Gallus are set to debut for MLW this month.

Scottish brothers Joe & Mark Coffey are the latest entrants confirmed for MLW Battle Riot VIII, a 40-man battle royal that’s being held in Kissimmee, Florida on January 29. It’s an anything goes Royal Rumble-style match where eliminations occur by pinfall, submission, or being thrown over the top rope. The winner earns a future shot at the MLW World Heavyweight Championship that is currently held by Mads Krule Krugger.

Both Coffey brothers (and their Gallus faction mate Wolfgang) were released by WWE in May 2025. They spent time in both NXT UK and NXT while with WWE, with Mark Coffey being a former NXT UK Tag Team Champion and Heritage Cup Champion. Joe & Mark are both free agents and are taking bookings internationally.

Among the other Battle Riot participants will be Alex Hammerstone, Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, Killer Kross, KUSHIDA, Templario, Bishop Dyer, Donovan Dijak, Adam Brooks, Ikuro Kwon, Okumura, Matthew Justice, Paul London, Mr. Thomas, Diego Hill, Jesus Rodriguez, and Austin Aries.

MLW’s YouTube channel is broadcasting the Battle Riot event live. So far, only two matches have been announced for the card:

Kushida to challenge for MLW Middleweight title

Kushida has the chance to win his first-ever MLW gold later this month at Battle Riot VIII.

The promotion has announced an MLW Middleweight Championship match between Templario and Kushida for the January 29 Battle Riot event. The show is being held in Kissimmee, Florida and will be broadcast live on MLW’s YouTube channel.

A decorated junior heavyweight, Kushida has held titles in NJPW and WWE but has yet to win an MLW championship. The company has become his wrestling home in the United States. He is still under contract with NJPW and is a coach at their dojo in Los Angeles. He will be holding a seminar at the dojo on February 1.

Templario — a star for CMLL — has been MLW Middleweight Champion since September with three successful defenses.

The Battle Riot card will be headlined by a 40-man battle royal where the winner earns a future shot at MLW World Heavyweight Champion Mads Krule Krugger. In addition to their title bout, Kushida and Templario will both be competing in that match. Alex Hammerstone, Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, Killer Kross, and Bishop Dyer (the former Baron Corbin) are among the other entrants.

WWE Hall of Famer pushing for son’s ‘mainstream’ success: ‘That’s my goal’

WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson recently opened up about working with his son, Brock Anderson, following his departure from AEW and his road to success.

Speaking to Denise Salcedo, Anderson noted that while his son hasn’t “made the mainstream”, he wants to continue supporting his development and help him earn the respect he deserves.

“My son, Brock [Anderson], which I’m sure you don’t know, he hasn’t made the mainstream exactly like I think he’s going to. He’s breaking into the business,” Anderson claimed. “I make as many shows around the Carolinas, Virginia, Georgia, that he’s wrestling. I go with him so that I can be there to coach him up a little bit.”

Speaking further, he noted, “And, whatever I have left within the wrestling business, all I want to do is make sure I get my son started on the right foot so that he’s respected, he respects the business, and he’s going to make it. That’s my goal. That’s my desire now. It’s not about me anymore. 42 years is enough.”

The 28-year-old Anderson was a part of AEW from 2021 to 2023 before he chose not to renew his contract. Since his return to the independent circuit, Anderson has also been actively wrestling for MLW and TNA.

Arn Anderson wants his son Brock to continue their family wrestling legacy

In the same interview, Anderson opened up about wanting his son to continue the family’s wrestling legacy.

“It’s something that he truly wants to do, and I want to support him. It would be very easy to say ‘well, he’s Arn’s son, it’s a tough act to follow, but he’s Brock, he’s not me, he’s not mini-me or any of those things,” Anderson stated. “I just want to give him an opportunity to be a wrestler, if that’s what he chooses at the end of the rainbow, but at least give it all he’s got, 100%, and let’s see if the cards fall where they will.”

Anderson was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2012 with The Four Horsemen. He is also widely remembered for his tag-team run with Tully Blanchard alongside his recent tenure with Cody Rhodes in AEW.

MLW announces schedule changes for 2026

MLW is changing up its planned schedule for 2026 with the league now based in the Southeast.

Last week, MLW revealed that the promotion is relocating its headquarters to a new home: Charleston, South Carolina. The move means that the Southeastern United States will now be hosting a greater number of MLW events. One of those shows will now take place in Atlanta on Saturday, March 14 at Center Stage.

“After nearly a year away, MLW’s return to Atlanta marks the beginning of a major new chapter for the league,” MLW wrote. With Major League Wrestling recently establishing its new headquarters in Charleston, South Carolina, the Southeast is quickly becoming the home base for some of the most exciting events on the MLW calendar. Expect more dates across the region to be announced in the months ahead.”

Along with the new Atlanta show being added, MLW is postponing the January 10 date it had scheduled in North Richland Hills, Texas for Kings of Colosseum VI. The event will be rescheduled for later in the year, but MLW has already refunded those who purchased tickets for the original date.

Tickets for the Atlanta show are going on sale on Friday, December 5 at 10 a.m. Eastern time. The event is sponsored by Danny McBride’s Don Gato tequila brand, which MLW has a newly formed relationship with. MLW’s most recent event was a live special in collaboration with Don Gato in Charleston on November 20.

MLW relocating to Charleston, South Carolina: ‘A city with heritage and momentum’

Ahead of its event in the city this week, MLW has announced it is moving its offices to Charleston, South Carolina.

MLW will present its Don Gato Tequila Live Special at the Charleston Music Hall on Thursday night and Court Bauer spoke with Mike Mooneyham of the Post & Courier about the promotion moving to the city full time.

“Charleston isn’t just hosting Major League Wrestling anymore — it’s home. I’m thrilled to officially announce that MLW is moving its league headquarters to Charleston, South Carolina,” Bauer said Monday night.

“Charleston has real wrestling lineage, and it also has one of the strongest, healthiest business sectors in the country right now. The city is booming — tech, hospitality, entertainment — everything is on the rise. That kind of ecosystem is exactly what MLW wants to be part of. Combine that with Charleston’s connection to Crockett, WCW and decades of Southern wrestling, and the decision became obvious. This is a city with heritage and momentum — and that’s a rare combination.”

MLW is in the process of closing down its previous office in Westchester, New York. Bauer also says the move will bring jobs to Charleston.

“We’re bringing production, creative and live-event jobs to Charleston. We’re proud to join Charleston’s growing entertainment and sports community,” Bauer continued.

“Fans are already coming in from out of state for our MLW x Don Gato Live Wrestling Special on Thursday — staying in local hotels, eating at local restaurants, supporting local businesses. That’s good for Charleston now, and it’s only going to grow from here.”

Thursday’s show will feature the finals of the 2025 Opera Cup with Mistico vs. Volador Jr. The MLW World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line as well when Mads Krule Krugger defends against Brock Anderson. The match steps from Krugger electrocuting CW Anderson in the Chamber of Horrors match last month. Matt Riddle vs. Killer Kross is also booked for the show. The full lineup is below:

MLW reveals location for next Battle Riot event

MLW’s next Battle Riot event will be held in the Orlando area in January 2026.

The promotion announced today that Battle Riot VIII will take place at the Osceola Heritage Park Events Center in Kissimmee, Florida on Thursday, January 29. The show is in partnership with Don Gato Tequila, an alcohol brand that’s owned by Hollywood star Danny McBride.

Considered MLW’s biggest event of the year, Battle Riot is headlined by MLW’s version of a Royal Rumble. The Battle Riot is a 40-person battle royal where eliminations can occur via pinfall, submission, or being thrown over the top rope. The MLW World Heavyweight Championship — currently held by Mads Krule Krugger — will be defended in the match.

Past Battle Riots have been won by Tom Lawlor, LA Park, Alex Hammerstone, Jacob Fatu, Alex Kane, and Matt Riddle (twice).

Tickets for Battle Riot VIII are going on sale on Wednesday, November 19 at 10 a.m. Eastern time. The show will be a homecoming for MLW, which held its initial events in Orlando after the promotion relaunched in 2017.

“Whenever we announce the location of a big event, we get so much feedback telling us to come back to Orlando,” MLW’s Court Bauer told the Orlando Sentinel. “We’ve been to Miami/Fort Lauderdale, we’ve been to Tampa, but still we hear ‘come back home’ to Orlando from fans who are loud and proud about it.”

MLW and Don Gato Tequila are also partnering together for a live special that will be held in Charleston, South Carolina next Thursday (November 20).

MLW reveals opponent for Isla Dawn debut

Isla Dawn will be facing a fellow former WWE talent in her MLW debut.

It’s been announced that Dawn vs. Scarlett Bordeaux will take place at MLW x Don Gato Tequila: Live Special on Thursday, November 20. The show is being held in Charleston, South Carolina and will stream live on MLW’s YouTube channel as well as airing on beIN Sports on cable.

Last week, MLW released a promo revealing that Dawn would be debuting at the event. She promised to make MLW a lot more dangerous with her arrival.

Dawn — a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion — was released from her WWE contract in February. After that, she had one match for AEW over the summer and has made some appearances on ROH.

Bordeaux departed WWE in August upon the expiration of her contract. She’s returning to MLW after previously competing for the promotion in 2022.

Also at the November 20 show, Bordeaux’s husband Killer Kross will return to MLW against Matt Riddle. The show is taking place at Charleston Music Hall in partnership with Hollywood star Danny McBride and his Don Gato tequila company.

Here is the updated card:

Former WWE wrestler Isla Dawn to make MLW debut

A former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion will be making her MLW debut this month.

Last night, MLW posted a video hyping that Isla Dawn will arrive in the promotion at its upcoming event in Charleston, South Carolina. The show is taking place at Charleston Music Hall on Thursday, November 20 in collaboration with Hollywood star Danny McBride and the Don Gato tequila brand that he owns.

Dawn — in a return to her “unholy” persona — cut a promo promising to make MLW a lot more dangerous with her arrival.

“Everyone’s talking about MLW meets Don Gato,” Dawn said. “Charleston, the ‘Holy City’ — but all that holiness without a little sin? Well, that just sounds no fun. I think it’s time for the arrival of Isla Dawn to make Charleston a little less holy, and MLW a lot more dangerous.”

MLW hasn’t announced any other details about Dawn’s role for the show.

Dawn was released from her WWE contract back in February. She’s been making appearances on ROH recently after competing on AEW Collision once this summer.

In WWE, Dawn had Women’s Tag Team title reigns with Alba Fyre on the main roster and in NXT. Fyre is still with WWE and now aligned with Chelsea Green.

The MLW x Don Gato event is set to air live on MLW’s YouTube channel and beIN Sports at 8 p.m. Eastern on November 20. Here is everything that’s been announced:

New match added to MLW x Don Gato Tequila Live Special

The card for MLW’s November 20 live special has a new addition.

It was announced today that Diego Hill vs. Okumura vs. Stigma will take place at MLW x Don Gato Tequila: Live Special in Charleston, South Carolina. It’s a lightning match — which means there is a 10-minute time limit to encourage fast-paced competition.

MLW is billing the bout as an opportunity for the “high-flying rookie” Hill to prove himself against two representatives from CMLL.

“A product of Cesar Duran’s watchful eye, Hill has captured attention with his explosive aerial style and fearless energy. Now, he steps into the biggest test of his young career,” MLW wrote.

“Representing CMLL, Okumura brings decades of ring experience and cunning. A Japanese master who made Mexico his home, Okumura is revered in Arena Mexico for his methodical precision and his reputation for breaking down faster, flashier opponents.

“Meanwhile, Stigma, the masked standout from Puebla, arrives with a mix of speed, power, and heart that’s made him a fixture among CMLL’s most dynamic luchadores. Known for his spectacular top-rope offense and fiery temperament, Stigma thrives under pressure — exactly the kind of atmosphere Don Gato’s vision has created for Charleston.”

The special will air live on MLW’s YouTube channel and beIN Sports. It’s taking place at Charleston Music Hall as part of a collaboration between MLW and Don Gato Tequila — an alcohol brand from Hollywood star Danny McBride.

Former WWE wrestlers to face off at MLW x Don Gato Tequila: Live Special

A women’s division match between former WWE wrestlers has been announced for MLW’s next event.

Shotzi Blackheart vs. Priscilla Kelly will take place at MLW x Don Gato Tequila: Live Special on Thursday, November 20. It’s a matchup featuring former NXT allies who have now become rivals in MLW.

“Priscilla Kelly has returned. After years away, the provocateur who terrorized MLW in 2018 and 2019 resurfaced in Los Angeles last month, crashing Shotzi’s new talk segment The Graveyard Shift,” MLW wrote. “Under the flicker of lights and laughter, Priscilla interrupted the debut episode to declare she’s back — and had venom-laced words for the host herself.

“Weeks later, at Symphony of Horrors, chaos followed Shotzi again. Moments after her match, a mysterious woman cloaked in black attacked Shotzi in the back moments after her match ended. Was it Priscilla? She isn’t denying it… and that’s all Shotzi needs to know.”

Both Blackheart and Kelly (the former Gigi Dolin in NXT) were let go from WWE in a round of roster cuts that were made this May. Blackheart was informed that her contract was not being renewed, while Kelly was released by the company.

Before they were let go, Blackheart and Kelly were aligned as a trio in NXT with Tatum Paxley.

Blackheart recently told TV Insider that MLW has been her favorite place to work since her WWE departure.

The November 20 MLW event is being put on in collaboration with Hollywood star Danny McBride and his Don Gato tequila brand. It will air live on YouTube as well as beIN Sports. Here is the updated card:

Arn Anderson to manage son for MLW World title match

Brock Anderson will have his father in his corner when he challenges for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship next month.

It was announced today that Mads Krule Krugger will defend the MLW World title against Anderson in a Bunkhouse match on November 20. For the bout, Anderson will be managed by his father — the legendary Four Horsemen member Arn Anderson.

“For this special bout, Brock’s father, the legendary Arn Anderson, will return to ringside to corner his son as part of a triple main event spectacular, bringing with him the same grit, fire, and strategy that made him one of the sport’s most respected figures,” MLW wrote.

“With ‘The Enforcer’ crafting the game plan and standing behind his son, Brock enters Charleston prepared for the fight of his life — and the chance to bring the World Heavyweight Title home to the Andersons for the first time ever.”

Krugger won the MLW World Championship from Matt Riddle this September and is on the second defense of his reign. The first was a multi-man Chamber of Horrors match that included both Brock Anderson and his tag team partner CW Anderson. The story is that Brock is looking to get revenge for how Krugger took out CW Anderson in that match.

The November 20 event is taking place as part of a collaboration between MLW and Hollywood star Danny McBride’s Don Gato tequila brand. The show is being held in Charleston, South Carolina and will air live on YouTube and beIN Sports at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

MLW wrote in a press release:

“This marks a first-time-ever collision between two of the sport’s top teams, and it carries special meaning. The Good Brothers’ arrival in MLW has been years in the making, dating back to when the duo first launched their smash-hit podcast, Talk’n Shop, on the MLW Radio Network. Now, their long-awaited MLW debut comes full circle — and they’re looking to make it count with championship gold.
