Madcap Moss wins WWE Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Madcap Moss is the winner of the 2022 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

The battle royal was the opening match of tonight’s WrestleMania 38 go-home edition of SmackDown. The final four participants left in the match were Moss, United States Champion Finn Balor, NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode.

As Ziggler and Roode were working together to eliminate Balor, Moss came up and eliminated both Ziggler and Roode. Balor hit a slingblade and charged at Moss, but Moss moved out of the way and sent Balor out of the ring.

Moss got on the microphone after the match and claimed that he won the battle royal all by himself. Happy Corbin had gotten involved in the match at one point and tried to help Moss. It almost backfired at first, but Corbin then stopped Moss from getting eliminated. Corbin left during the match after arguing with Moss.

Moss called Andre the Giant his hero and said that Andre was beloved by everyone — just like him. Moss then told a joke insulting the state of Texas: “What do you call a battle royal named after the smartest Texans around? A cattle royal.”

This is the second straight year that the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal has taken place on the SmackDown before WrestleMania. Jey Uso won the battle royal last year.

Cesaro, Big Show, Corbin, Mojo Rawley, Matt Hardy, and Braun Strowman are also previous Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winners.

Corbin is facing Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 38 night one this Saturday.

Two matches announced for WWE SmackDown

Two matches previewing title bouts for WrestleMania have been announced for tonight’s SmackDown.

A fatal four-way match between Sasha Banks, Rhea Ripley, Zelina Vega, and Shayna Baszler will take place on SmackDown tonight. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Jimmy Uso is also set for the episode.

Vega & Carmella defending their Women’s Tag Team titles against Banks & Naomi, Ripley & Liv Morgan, and Baszler & Natalya in a four-way match will be part of the card for WrestleMania 38 night two on Sunday, April 3.

Nakamura & Rick Boogs are challenging The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team titles at WrestleMania 38 night one on Saturday, April 2. That was confirmed when Boogs defeated Jey Uso in a singles match on SmackDown two weeks ago.

The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York is hosting tonight’s SmackDown. With WrestleMania 38 now just over a week away, the build to Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar’s winner-take-all title unification match will also continue tonight.

WWE.com wrote:

Last week, WWE Champion Brock Lesnar laid waste to the blue brand on his quest for payback for the attack he suffered at the hands of Universal Champion Roman Reigns and The Usos at a live event at Madison Square Garden. After crashing a forklift into the retreating Bloodline’s ride, The Beast ripped a door from their SUV as they sped away.

What will happen after the chaotic assault en route to The Biggest WrestleMania Match of All Time? Find out this Friday at 8/7 C on FOX.

Contract signing, Zayn segment, McIntyre vs. Moss set for WWE SmackDown

Two segments and an Elimination Chamber rematch have been announced for this week’s edition of SmackDown.

– With their winner-take-all title vs. title match set for WrestleMania 38, WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Universal Champion Roman Reigns will meet for a contract signing on Friday’s SmackDown. Lesnar won the WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber match at last Saturday’s pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia.

Lesnar made an appearance on Raw this Monday but was interrupted by Paul Heyman. Heyman said he didn’t know if Lesnar would even still be WWE Champion by the time WrestleMania takes place — because Lesnar has a title defense at WWE’s house show at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, March 5. That title match is supposed to be Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley, but Heyman said he’d make sure Lesnar still has a title defense if Lashley isn’t cleared to compete.

Reigns retained his Universal Championship against Goldberg at Elimination Chamber.

– New Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn will celebrate his title win on SmackDown this week. Last Friday, Zayn defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to win the title.

WWE.com questioned who will step up to Zayn on the road to WrestleMania:

After taking advantage of Shinsuke Nakamura’s knee injury to overcome The King of Strong Style in a hard-fought match last week, Sami Zayn is ready to celebrate his third Intercontinental Title! Who will step up to The Master Strategist on The Road to WrestleMania?

– Plus, Drew McIntyre vs. Madcap Moss will take place on SmackDown this Friday. McIntyre defeated Moss when the two squared off in a falls count anywhere match at Elimination Chamber.

There was a scary moment during their match at Elimination Chamber where Moss landed on his head while taking an Alabama Slam. Moss was able to finish the match, and Moss passed all of his medical tests following the PPV.

Friday’s SmackDown is being held at GIANT Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

WWE’s Madcap Moss passes all medical tests following Elimination Chamber bump

WWE wrestler Madcap Moss has been cleared for action after passing a series of medical tests following a scary looking bump on his neck at last Saturday’s Elimination Chamber.

Fightful first reported that his test results showed no damage while PWInsider reported that Moss was cleared.

From the latter’s report, Moss had to undergo various tests that included X-rays and passed them all.

Moss fell directly on top of his head on an Alabama Slam in his falls count anywhere match against Drew McIntyre at Saturday’s Chamber event in Saudi Arabia.

The 32-year-old Moss was able to finish the match and reportedly insisted he was ok after going backstage, apologizing to Vince McMahon, McIntyre and producers afterward.

All three men should be on Friday’s SmackDown and it’s expected that McIntyre will face Moss’ running mate Happy Corbin at WrestleMania 38.

Stipulation added to Drew McIntyre vs. Madcap Moss at WWE Elimination Chamber

A falls count anywhere stipulation has been added to the Drew McIntyre/Madcap Moss match ahead of next Saturday’s Elimination Chamber event.

The story on tonight’s SmackDown had Madcap Moss attempting to get out of the match by going to WWE medical staff and complaining about a black eye that McIntyre gave him on last week’s show. As Moss was being evaluated, McIntyre emerged with his sword and demanded Moss to tell the trainer that he was fine. After Moss obliged, McIntyre said they would not just be having any kind of match, it would be a falls count anywhere match.

At Day One back on January 1, McIntyre had defeated Moss in a singles match. Later backstage, he was attacked by Moss and Happy Corbin, with the duo attacking McIntyre’s neck with a backstage prop. McIntyre would later return at the Royal Rumble, where he immediately eliminated Moss and Corbin. A match was then made for Elimination Chamber between Moss and McIntyre.

Elimination Chamber will take place on February 19 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Drew McIntyre vs. Madcap Moss set for WWE Elimination Chamber

A singles match between Drew McIntyre and Madcap Moss has been made for Elimination Chamber.

The match was added following an in-ring segment that took place tonight on SmackDown. McIntyre cut a promo about making his return at the Royal Rumble after being taken out by Moss and Happy Corbin at Day 1. Corbin came out and pointed out that while McIntyre somehow eliminated both him and Moss from the Rumble, he still ultimately lost to Brock Lensar. Moss tried to sneak attack McIntyre from behind during Corbin’s promo, but McIntyre used his sword to hold back Moss.

McIntyre demanded Moss to tell him a joke. After Moss told the joke, McIntyre laid Moss out and told Corbin that he was next, and would make his life a living hell. Later during the show, a match between the two was confirmed for Elimination Chamber on February 19 at the Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia.

Moss and McIntyre previously had a match at Day 1, where McIntyre won. However, McIntyre was jumped backstage by Moss and Corbin, with the duo attacking McIntyre with a stage prop. It was reported at the time that McIntyre was written off so he could undergo medical tests for ongoing neck issues.

Two matches official for next week’s WWE SmackDown

Two matches have been made official for SmackDown’s Royal Rumble go-home show.

WWE is advertising that Sonya Deville will finally make her true return to the ring against Naomi on next Friday’s SmackDown. Plus, The New Day’s Big E & Kofi Kingston will face Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss on the episode.

Deville has been feuding with Naomi for months but has refused to face her one-on-one, saying that Naomi isn’t allowed to touch her when she’s working in her role as an on-screen authority figure. Deville again abused her power on tonight’s SmackDown by making herself the referee for Naomi’s non-title match against SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. Naomi had Flair beat, but Deville refused to count the pin. When Charlotte put Naomi in the Figure Eight, Deville called for the bell before Naomi tapped out. Deville then taunted Naomi after the match.

Adam Pearce told Deville that what she did was over the line, and her issues with Naomi need to stop. Pearce said he was going to suggest to upper management that Naomi and Deville have a match next week.

Big E is a member of the Raw roster but appeared on SmackDow tonight and was in Kingston’s corner for his match against Moss. Big E sent Corbin into the steel steps at one point. After the match, Big E challenged Corbin to come into the ring. When Corbin wouldn’t, Big E gave Moss the Big Ending and said it was for Corbin.

Moss had defeated Kingston when they faced off on SmackDown last Friday.

New Day’s Xavier Woods is currently out of action due to a torn plantaris.

Next week’s SmackDown is being held at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The Royal Rumble will take place in St. Louis the next night.

Reigns celebration, Kingston vs. Moss rematch set for WWE SmackDown

A pair of announcements have been made for tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

On tonight’s show, The Bloodline (Roman Reigns & The Usos) will “acknowledge and celebrate Reigns for his record-breaking 508 days as the Universal Champion.” Reigns’ current title reign recently surpassed Brock Lesnar’s 2017-2018 reign for the longest in the history of the Universal Championship.

Reigns won the Universal Championship by defeating “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match at Payback in August 2020. He’s set to defend the title against Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble later this month.

A face-to-face confrontation with Reigns and Rollins headlined last week’s SmackDown. Rollins was able to avoid an ambush by The Usos then, but they showed up on Raw this Monday and laid him out with a superkick.

A rematch between Kofi Kingston and Madcap Moss has also been added to tonight’s SmackDown. Moss defeated Kingston when they faced off last week.

Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The episode will also feature SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Naomi in a non-title match.

Four new participants announced for WWE Royal Rumble

Four new participants have been confirmed for this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match.

Happy Corbin, Madcap Moss, Sami Zayn, and Kofi Kingston have been added to the lineup for the men’s Rumble, bringing the number of announced participants up to 14. Angelo Dawkins, Montez Ford, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, Austin Theory, “Jackass” star Johnny Knoxville, Sheamus, Damian Priest, AJ Styles, and Big E have also been confirmed for the match.

There are still 16 open spots for the men’s Rumble.

On tonight’s SmackDown, Kingston read a proclamation from Xavier Woods announcing that Woods wouldn’t be able to be in the Royal Rumble this year due to his torn plantaris injury. Woods said the Rumble still needed royal representation, so Kingston would be in the match.

Moss defeated Kingston in a singles match on SmackDown tonight.

Zayn has been feuding with Knoxville leading into the Royal Rumble. Zayn is also the number one contender to Shinsuke Nakamura’s Intercontinental title.

The Royal Rumble is taking place at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis on Saturday, January 29. Here’s the updated list of entrants for the men’s and women’s Rumble matches:

Drew McIntyre vs. Madcap Moss added to WWE Day 1

A new singles match has been added to WWE’s Day 1 pay-per-view event.

On tonight’s SmackDown, it was announced that Madcap Moss would take on Drew McIntyre in a singles match. This follows the events of tonight’s SmackDown, where Happy Corbin made the match, much to Moss’ chagrin.

Moss and Corbin have been feuding with McIntyre in recent weeks. On last week’s SmackDown, McIntyre grabbed his sword, named Angela, and stabbed it through WWE official Adam Pearce’s desk after an argument. It was later revealed that Corbin and Moss had stolen Pearce’s desk, with the sword still stuck in it.

On this week’s SmackDown, McIntyre confronted Corbin and Moss after Corbin officially gave Moss the sword. McIntyre came out and went after Corbin, but Moss pulled Corbin out of the ring. Later on in the show, they were shown hiding in a dark room in the arena. That was where Corbin made the match for Moss against McIntyre. Moss didn’t seem to like the idea of the match.

WWE Day 1 will take place on Saturday, January 1 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Here’s the updated card for the PPV:

  • Universal Champion Roman Reigns defends against Brock Lesnar
  • WWE Champion Big E defends against Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Bobby Lashley in a fatal four-way match
  • Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defends against Liv Morgan
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) defend against The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston)
  • Edge vs. The Miz
  • Drew McIntyre vs. Madcap Moss
  • Hip-hop group Migos will make a special appearance

Tag team Trick or Street Fight set for WWE SmackDown

A Halloween-themed tag team match is set for tonight’s SmackDown on FS1.

WWE has announced that Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura & Rick Boogs will face Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss in a Trick or Street Fight on tonight’s SmackDown. On last week’s show, Corbin defeated Nakamura in a non-title singles match.

Nakamura lost last week’s match after being distracted by an argument between Boogs and Moss. Corbin capitalized on that by throwing Nakamura into the steel steps and then hitting End of Days inside of the ring to get the win.

Nakamura defeating Corbin for his crown earlier this year was the reason that Corbin’s storyline of being down on his luck began. Things turned around for Corbin and he became Happy Corbin after winning money in Las Vegas while there for SummerSlam.

Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The show is airing on FS1 due to game three of the World Series being on Fox. After tonight’s SmackDown ends, the show will replay on FS1 at both 10 p.m. Eastern time and midnight.
