Report —

NXT UK Heritage Cup number one contender tournament semifinals: Wolfgang (w/ Gallus) defeated Teoman (w/ Rohan Raja) 2-1 in Round 4

Round 1

Wolfgang beat him down Teoman. He briefly got distracted and almost got locked in the crossface. Wolfgang then scored the first pin after a spinning suplex in 2:03. Wolfgang 1-0

Round 2

Teoman was aggressive as the round started, but Wolfgang tackled him down. They ended up at ringside twice, but the second time Teoman pulled the apron over Wolfgang’s head and beat on him. Teoman hit a top rope dropkick in the final quarter minute for a near-fall, then locked in the crossface but Wolfgang countered it into a pin just as the round concluded.

Round 3

Wolfgang was in control until Raja distracted Wolfgang and Teoman dropkicked his leg. He worked over Wolfgang’s arm and leg, then scored a pin after a diving uppercut at 1:12 of the round. Teoman 1-1

Round 4

Teoman scored a near-fall with a rollup in the first minute. Wolfgang came back with a running splash into the corner and an axe handle off the top. Mark Coffey finally punched out Raja at ringside. Wolfgang evaded a handspring back elbow and heat a spear to score the somewhat upset victory at 2:15 of the round. Wolfgang wins 2-1

Blair Davenport cut another promo on Sid Scala, saying bad things were going to continue to happen unless she is reinstated

Subculture were preparing to finish a graffiti of their logo backstage. Sam Gradwell walked by and greeted them. They found he had defaced their logo, so this will lead to a match down the line.

A cameraman walked up to Jordan Devlin’s private dressing room. Gallus were in there, celebrating and drinking coffee. Devlin walked up and was furious, so Gallus kicked him out. He said he was going to tell on them to Johnny Saint.

*****

Jinny (w/ Joseph Conners) defeated Isla Dawn

Dawn smiled at Jinny and got forearmed for that. She quickly took over and dominated the Fashionista for a bit. Jinny took back over and slammed Dawn’s knee into the mat. Dawn came back with knees in the corner, then went for a backdrop driver on the apron but Jinny countered. She still got her legs pulled out and beaten up at ringside, then Dawn even punched Joseph Conners at ringside. She scored a near-fall off some double knees to the face.

Isla got on the top rope, but Conners berated her and she was distracted, allowing Jinny to knock her off the top and hit an X-Factor off the turnbuckle for the pinfall victory.

Subculture’s Dani Luna was working out at the Performance Center and Mark Andrews said she was the strongest woman on the roster. Xia Brookside walked up and mentioned how Meiko Satomura told the women to step up and they should face each other. Luna agreed and Xia said she had the strength, but did she also have the speed?

A video aired of Charlie Dempsey (William Regal’s son), looking through a Japanese wrestling instruction book. He again reiterated he would bring holds and damage joints and even though he was using stuff from older wrestlers, it would be new to a lot of people. He debuts next week.

Trent Seven, Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter were in a heated discussion. They talked about whether the Bookend or the Rock Bottom was superior. Seven said the Rock Bottom was, and said it was like comparing them to Moustache Mountain. They took offense to that and Seven suggested a match. Smith asked if he didn’t want to check with Tyler first, but Trent blew him off and said Tyler would be fine with it, but he’d call him up. The match will take place next week.

NXT UK Championship number one contender triple threat match: A-Kid beat Rampage Brown and Nathan Frazer

A-Kid and Frazer ganged up on Brown, but he quickly beat both of them down. They tried again with more success as A-Kid locked on an arm bar and Frazer dropkicked Brown. A-Kid and Frazer then got into it and did some quick spots, with Frazer finally hitting a dropkick that sent A-Kid to ringside.

Brown got back in and sent Frazer flying with a huge back body drop. A-Kid was in with Brown next and wore the bigger man down with kicks and strikes. Brown came out on top, but was wobbly on the leg that had been worked over by both opponents. Brown threw A-Kid into Frazer, then planted Frazer with a uranage for a close near fall.

A-Kid came back in and hit kicks on both Frazer and Brown, then locked in a triangle on Brown. Brown picked him up and powerbombed him onto Frazer. Frazer then countered a Doctor Bomb by Brown into a reverse DDT. Frazer went up top, but got stopped by A-Kid who hit a top rope German. Frazer flipped through and landed on his legs.

A-Kid and Frazer did some more crazy spots. Frazer eventually hit a double DDT/Reverse DDT on both opponents.  Brown then stopped Frazer and hit a double back suplex on both men. A-Kid then went crazy, including hitting a German on Frazer as Frazer was springboarding off the ropes and A-Kid dove through them. He then transitioned from a submission attempt on Frazer to one on Brown, but got a powerbomb for his troubles.

A few crazy moments later, Frazer hit a moonsault powerslam on A-Kid. Brown got involved and A-Kid locked in a sleeper. Brown turned it into a vertical suplex, but he ate a superkick by Frazer before he could execute the move. Brown hit the Doctor Bomb on Frazer, but A-Kid locked in a sleeper as he went for the pin. Brown went to throw A-Kid over the top, but A-Kid evaded another attack and sent Brown to the outside with a flying superkick.

A-Kid then hit a suplex and another flying superkick on Frazer for the pinfall victory. A-Kid is the new number one contender to Ilja Dragunov’s championship. This was incredible!

Final Thoughts —

Wolfgang beating Teoman so easily was a surprise, especially as Teoman was still unbeaten in NXT UK.

The Jinna/Isla Dawn match was fine, but nothing special.

The three-way main event was fantastic, both A-Kid and Nathan Frazer are tremendous and it’s a shame they are not being seen by a wider audience. Brown is great powerhouse worker. One of the better main event matches in the brand’s history. A-Kid vs. Dragunov should be an incredible match and I cannot wait to see it.

Next week —

  • Moustache Mountain vs. Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith
  • Charlie Dempsey debuts
  • Jordan Devlin vs. Joe Coffey

NXT UK title number one contender’s match set for next week

WWE has revealed how the first challenger for Ilja Dragunov’s NXT United Kingdom Championship will be decided.

Rampage Brown, A-Kid, and Nathan Frazer will face off in a triple threat match on next Thursday’s episode of NXT UK. The winner will become the number one contender to Dragunov’s title.

In an instant classic match, Dragunov defeated WALTER to win the United Kingdom Championship at NXT TakeOver 36 last month. WALTER’s reign with the title lasted for 870 days before being ended by Dragunov.

Dragunov appeared via video on today’s NXT UK episode. Dragunov said he was looking forward to coming back to the United Kingdom, and the most interesting question he had on his mind was who would be trying to take his title from him. Frazer, Brown, and A-Kid then made their way out to the ring, with each of them wanting a shot at Dragunov’s title.

After the triple threat number one contender’s match was proposed, Dragunov said it sounded like a great idea to him. WWE hasn’t announced when the winner will be getting their title shot.

Brown stood tall over A-Kid and Frazer after their segment on today’s NXT UK broke down into a brawl. The brawl started when Brown went to leave the ring and shoved Frazer on his way out.

Next Thursday’s NXT UK will also feature Wolfgang and Teoman facing off in the semifinals of the Heritage Cup number one contender’s tournament. The winner will advance to face Noam Dar in the finals.

Tyler Bate is the current Heritage Cup Champion.

NXT UK results: Jordan Devlin vs. A-Kid Iron Man match

Report —

Taped at BT Sports Studios in London, England

The show opened with a great video narrated by Triple H and Shawn Michaels talking about the challenges of an Iron Man match. They had clips from all the great Iron Man matches in WWE history, along with voiceovers by A-Kid and Jordan Devlin, with clips of their previous match.

**********

Blair Davenport defeated Xia Brookside (4:21)

Brookside aggressively worked over Davenport’s arm early. She followed with a hurricanrana and a rollup for a two-count.

Davenport then countered a monkey flip attempt, lifted Xia over the top and sent her to ringside with a dropkick.

They went back and forth a bit, before Davenport hit a head kick, missile dropkick off the top and a V-Trigger for the win.

After the match, Davenport hit a falcon arrow on Brookside and posed over her.

**********

Scenes from after the tag team main event last week aired. Moustache Mountain had beaten Symbiosis when Pretty Deadly came out and applauded them. Moustache Mountain were elated about their win backstage and were confronted once more by the tag team champions, who said they wanted to embarrass the fans’ favorite tag teams. Bate was reluctant, since he is the Heritage Cup champion, but Seven asked him to give it a go and he agreed. He also called Pretty Deadly the Godwinns 2K21, because they wore overalls.

Sid Scala then announced while the match will take place, Bate is also the Heritage Cup champion and as he is a fighting champion, an eight-man tournament will take place to determine the number one contender. The first round matches are:

  • Mark Andrews vs. Noam Dar
  • Kenny Williams vs. Oliver Carter
  • Nathan Frazer vs. Teoman
  • Sam Gradwell vs. Wolfgang

**********

Video aired of Isla Dawn in the ruins of some castle or building in the woods. She uncovered a wooden box with some witch markings, put a watch into it and left it there. While this was going on, images of Emilia McKenzie flashed on the screen. All creepier than Alexa Bliss and her doll.

**********

Subculture were asked what was next for them as they encountered Wolfgang backstage. Webster told him he was a genius for getting a match with Tyler Bate by slapping him. Wolfgang said that’s all you had to do, when Webster slapped him and ran away. Wolfgang smiled, then went after them.

**********

Dave Mastiff & Jack Starz defeated Josh Morrell & Danny Jones (5:27)

Starz and Jones started out and Starz showed off his great fundamentals. Morrell and Mastiff were in next and Mastiff quickly pounced him to ringside. Starz briefly was in trouble after an enzuigiri by Jones and got worked over by both opponents. Morrell missed a flashy split-legged corkscrew senton, allowing Starz to make the hot tag.

Mastiff hit a rolling German, Starz added running, diving headbutt in the corner and Mastiff pinned Morrell after hitting Into the Void.

**********

Amale was in a chair getting makeup done. Nina Samuels stormed in and screamed at her for hogging the camera crew. They got into it, got separated and I guess we will get a heel vs. heel women’s match soon.

**********

Aoife Valkyrie talked about her match with Jinny last week, which she lost because of Joseph Conners. She had a big cage with her and said Conners would not be able to help her next time and that at some point, everyone feeds the birds. Looks like they will have a rematch with Conners suspended in a cage above the ring.

**********

Stevie Turner interrupted Meiko Satomura training at the UK Performance Center. She said she was wired differently. Meiko was not impressed and caught her arm, then threatened going after her.

**********

30-minute Iron Man match: A-Kid defeated Jordan Devlin two falls to one (30:00)

They traded holds and counters early on. A-Kid went for a crossface but Devlin quickly got to the ropes. Devlin got on a Stretch Plum, then transitioned it into a backslide. A-Kid impressively escaped, then got on an armbar but Devlin made the ropes once more. They traded more submission attempts with A-Kid locking in a neck crank. Devlin backed him into the ropes and slapped him, but A-Kid stayed calm.

Devlin trapped A-Kid’s legs in the ropes, then aggressively attacked A-Kid’s previously injured knee and locked in a Boston Crab, forcing A-Kid to tap close to the 10 minute mark. Devlin 1-0

Devlin further targeted A-Kid’s knee, A-Kid locked in a rear-naked choke but Devlin got to the ropes. He rolled to ringside and slammed A-Kid’s knee into the apron and the post, then locked in the Figure Four around the post. Devlin locked in another Boston Crab but A-Kid reached the ropes this time. They traded German suplexes, then Devlin suplexed A-Kid over the top and both men tumbled to the floor at the 15-minute mark. Devlin narrowly made it back into the ring at 9 as A-Kid immediately locked in a omoplata, but once more, Devlin made the ropes.

Devlin vaulted into the ring over the top but A-Kid caught him in a rear-naked choke but released the hold to hit a running soccer kick but Devlin kicked out at 2.9. Devlin hit some strikes but A-Kid countered, then locked in the armbar and Devlin quickly tapped at around 18 minutes. A-Kid 1-1

Devlin got some rest at ringside, but A-Kid quickly sent him to the outside again, then hit a running enzuigiri as Devlin was on the apron. A-Kid sent him to the outside once more and Devlin grabbed a chair. A-Kid kicked the chair into his face. Back in the ring, A-Kid hit a cross body off the top for another near-fall. Devlin recovered and went for the Clover Leaf, then went for a power bomb but A-Kid hit a hurricanrana, then scored a number of near-falls.

They traded strikes, including Devlin hitting a falling headbutt after bouncing off the ropes from a superman bunch by A-Kid. They fought on the apron and Devlin wet for Devlin Inside, but got dropkicked. He then hit the move on the outside after which both men were down. A-Kid made it back at 9.99, probably the closest I ever saw anyone make it in this spot.

A-Kid countered Devlin Inside into a Destroyer, then hit a running dropkick for a very close near-fall. A-Kid got the arm bar of the kickout, then ground and fought his way into an omoplata. Devlin eventually submitted with only about 90 seconds left. A-Kid 2-1

Devlin fought like crazy during the final minute. Devlin hit A-Kid square in the jaw with three seconds left but the time ran out at the two count, without A-Kid kicking out. So A-Kid won but the story was that Devlin would have take the match to overtime if he had been one second quicker.

**********

Devin glared at A-Kid as he celebrated and the show went off the air.

**********

Final Thoughts:

The main event was a fantastic match with a lot of drama and both men looked really good.

Blair Davenport continues to win, probably leading to a match with Meiko Satomura down the line.

Jack Starz and Dave Mastiff was an okay tag match and it will be interesting where they will go with them.

The rest was mostly evolving angles and storylines for the coming weeks.

Next week:

  • Heritage Cup number one contender’s tournament first-round match: Mark Andrews vs. Noam Dar
  • Flash Morgan Webster vs. Wolfgang
  • Amale vs. Nina Samuels

NXT UK’s first-ever Iron Man match set for next week

NXT UK’s first-ever Iron Man match is set for next week.

WWE has announced that A-Kid and Jordan Devlin will face off in a 30-minute Iron Man match on next Thursday’s episode of NXT UK. WWE has been building to the match since Devlin defeated A-Kid on NXT UK four weeks ago.

The finish of that A-Kid vs. Devlin match was A-Kid tapping out as Devlin bent his knee back. Devlin didn’t let go of the hold until being forced to by the referee. A-Kid’s knee had been injured in storyline earlier in the match. Officials and medical personnel came out to the ring to check on A-Kid after the match.

There was a backstage segment two weeks ago where A-Kid told NXT UK management that he wanted an Iron Man match against Devlin. The following week, it was announced that the match had been made official. Devlin called A-Kid the dumbest man on the planet for requesting an Iron Man match with “a torn ACL.” Devlin said there’s no way A-Kid’s knee is 100 percent.

Devlin defeated Tristan Archer on today’s NXT UK episode. A-Kid then hobbled out to the ring on crutches and confronted Devlin. Devlin kicked the crutches away, but A-Kid then revealed that he’s fully recovered. A-Kid attacked Devlin and sent him out of the ring.

Blair Davenport (Bea Priestley) will also be in action on NXT UK next Thursday. Her opponent hasn’t been announced. Davenport made her NXT UK in-ring debut three weeks ago, defeating Laura Di Matteo.

WWE sets date for A-Kid vs. Bate NXT UK Heritage Cup title match

A date has been set for A-Kid and Tyler Bate’s Heritage Cup Championship match.

WWE has announced that A-Kid will defend his Heritage Cup Championship against Bate on the Thursday, May 20 episode of NXT UK. Bate became the number one contender to the Heritage Cup Championship by defeating Noam Dar in a Heritage Cup rules match at NXT UK: Prelude earlier this month.

This will be the second time Bate has challenged A-Kid for the Heritage Cup Championship. Last December, A-Kid defeated Bate to retain the title. A-Kid pinned Bate in the sixth and final round to win by two falls to one.

Bate has been friends with A-Kid and his on-screen mentor. In a promo that aired on NXT UK this week, A-Kid said Bate is someone he’s always looked up to — but it’s also very special to know that he doesn’t have to look up to Bate anymore. He just has to look Bate in the eyes and wrestle him.

A-Kid and Bate each have a win against each other in NXT UK. Bate defeated A-Kid on an NXT UK episode that aired in February 2020

A-Kid became the inaugural Heritage Cup Champion by defeating Bate’s Moustache Mountain tag team partner Trent Seven in the finals of a tournament last November. A-Kid has had two title defenses since becoming champion, retaining against Bate and Sha Samuels.

WWE announces NXT UK Heritage Cup and Tag Team title matches

WWE has revealed when NXT UK’s next Heritage Cup and Tag Team title matches will be airing.

Heritage Cup Champion A-Kid will defend the trophy against Sha Samuels on NXT UK next Thursday (February 18). Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) will then defend their NXT UK Tag Team titles against Pretty Deadly (Sam Stoker & Lewis Howley) on the NXT UK episode that airs in two weeks (Thursday, February 25).

Samuels challenging for the Heritage Cup was set up during Samuels’ appearance on Noam Dar’s Supernova Sessions talk show on this week’s NXT UK episode. Dar said Samuels personifies the heritage of British wrestling and said Samuels is owed something by NXT UK authority figures Johnny Saint and Sid Scala after he was initially given the name Ed Harvey when he made his NXT UK debut.

A-Kid won the Heritage Cup by defeating Trent Seven in the finals of a tournament in November. He’s defended the Heritage Cup once since then, defeating Tyler Bate in December.

WALTER retained his NXT UK Championship against A-Kid on the January 14 edition of NXT UK. Samuels also made his NXT UK debut in a loss to Joe Coffey on that episode after signing with WWE.

Next week’s NXT UK will also feature Rampage Brown vs. Joe Coffey and Ben Carter in action.

Pretty Deadly became the number one contenders to Gallus’ titles by defeating Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster, Oliver Carter & Ashton Smith, and The Hunt (Wild Boar & Primate) in a fatal four-way elimination match on NXT UK two weeks ago. Gallus have been NXT UK Tag Team Champions since October 2019.

WALTER vs. A-Kid NXT UK title match set for January 14

WWE has revealed when WALTER and A-Kid’s NXT UK Championship match will be taking place.

WALTER will defend his NXT UK Championship against A-Kid on the Thursday, January 14 episode of NXT UK. That announcement was made on today’s special New Year’s Eve edition of NXT UK.

The title match was set up by a challenge that A-Kid issued to WALTER earlier this month. NXT UK’s Sid Scala announced at the time that — if all parties were in agreement — WALTER would defend his title against A-Kid in the new year.

This will be WALTER’s first title defense since retaining against Ilja Dragunov in a Match-of-the-Year candidate on NXT UK in October. WALTER has been NXT UK Champion since winning the title from Pete Dunne in April 2019.

A-Kid is the holder of NXT UK’s Heritage Cup Championship. He defeated Trent Seven in the Heritage Cup tournament finals in November and made his first defense of the trophy by defeating Tyler Bate earlier this month.

Over the past week, the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve episodes of NXT UK have looked back at matches from 2020. NXT UK will kick off 2021 with a new episode next Thursday. It will feature Piper Niven and Jinny facing off in a number one contender’s match, along with Ben Carter making his first WWE appearance as the guest on Noam Dar’s Supernova Sessions talk show.

Report —

Non-title match: NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray pinned Isla Dawn (04:18)

Isla comes off a victory over Xia Brookside, who was distracted by Nina Samuels last week. This also was KLR’s first match since her brutal title defense in a falls count anywhere match against Piper Niven a few weeks back.

KLR dominated the early portion of the match, but Dawn took over with a knee strike into the ropes and a running meteora. Dawn scored a close near fall off the Saito suplex she beat Brookside with last week.

KLR came back with a Tornado DDT, then locked in a Koji clutch, which Dawn only narrowly escaped. KLR then hit a super kick and the Gory Bomb for the victory.

After the match, KLR cut a quick promo and said she’d be champion for a long, long time.

**********

A video highlighted NXT UK’s newest signee, Ben Carter.

William Regal, Nigel McGuinness, Ashton Smith, Gallus and Sid Scala all sang his praises. Clips aired of Carter, courtesy of SCWPro in Iowa.

Carter, 22 from Jersey in the UK, started out two years ago and went to the U.S. to train under Seth Rollins at his Black & Brave wrestling school.

He has had matches on AEW Dark, Impact, GCW and Beyond, and will make his debut on NXT UK soon.

**********

A tremendous video of Ilja Dragunov aired.

It was shot in black and white and saw Dragunov sit on a chair in an empty ring, talking about his match with WALTER. He called it probably the match of the year 2020 in WWE and that it was a lion fighting a tiger. He said he promised to redefine violence with this match and he did. But he lost.

He said now, he had to start all over again. The only thing shot in color in this video were his red contact lenses, which he then removed in a close up shot. This was just amazing from an emotional and cinematographic point of view.

**********

Handicap match: Levi Muir & Jack Starz beat Saxon Huxley (05:21)

Huxley attacked both men at the NXT UK Performance Center last week and left them laying.

Starz started out with Huxley, but got manhandled and looked worried. Muir was in next, who seemed to have the strength advantage, but got pounced out of mid-air off a leapfrog attempt. Starz hit a dropkick-assisted body press for a two count.

Huxley hit an impressive gorilla press slam on Starz, then smashed into both opponents on a run around ringside. Starz kicked out of a pin after a gutwrench powerbomb.

Muir briefly was on offense and the team even took Huxley off his feet with a double dropkick.

Starz hit a sunset flip on Huxley who held on to the top rope, but Muir slapped his hands away from the apron, allowing Starz to score the deciding pin for his team.

Huxley attacked both men after the match, but Dave Mastiff ran out to make the save and clotheslined Huxley over the top.

**********

Piper Niven stormed into Sid Scala’s office and demanded that he watch a video on her phone.

It looked like from a CCTV camera at the Performance Center. Niven was seen lifting some weights, then took a quick break, while someone wheeled a chest into the room. Niven looked into it and it contained a steel chair with a piece of paper attached to it.

She gave it to Scala and it looked like a signed contract. Niven demanded a match with Jinny (the chair seemingly was the one Jinny attacked Niven with to cost her the match against Kay Lee Ray a few weeks ago).

It was confirmed Niven and Jinny will meet in a #1 contender’s match in three weeks.

**********

Dave Mastiff was shown walking backstage when he met Rampage Brown. Brown asked him about his interaction with Huxley and Mastiff told him he doesn’t like bullies. This looked like a friendly encounter between friends.

**********

A-Kid in-ring segment —

A-Kid was in the ring with the NXT UK Heritage Cup trophy and talked about how he was the first-ever Heritage Cup champion, won the tournament and eventually even beat his mentor, Tyler Bate.

He said his next step was very clear, and he challenged WALTER for the NXT UK championship.

WALTER walked out and told A-Kid that the next time he stepped into his ring, he must wipe his dirty feet on the ring apron.

He said it was great watching A-Kid in the tournament and he can clearly see he is very proud to be a professional wrestler. But how dare he claim to represent the heritage of this great sport. He said A-Kid was nothing special and like everyone else, his fairy tale will end once he steps into the ring with WALTER.

He said one thing will never change, and that is that WALTER is the NXT UK champion.

**********

Kenny Williams was in the NXT UK Performance Center. He said his health update wasn’t too good.

Amir Jordan walked in all happy and asked him if he was good to go so they could go for the tag team titles eventually. Williams told him he’d support him in his singles career instead.

**********

Trent Seven did a sit-down interview, talking about the Heritage Cup. He said he thought he did enough, but he didn’t.

He was caught up in what the Heritage Cup meant and was looking backwards at all the great men that came before him, when he should have been looking forward.

He said he needed to become better and it sounded like he will be taking a break from active competition, as he stated that he will be gone for a while, but not forever.

Rampage Brown pinned Josh Morrell (03:12)

Brown hit a huge back body drop on Brown, then kicked him out of the ring. Brown kept dismantling Morrell, but the youngster briefly came back with a dropkick and a corkscrew plancha.

Seconds later, Brown hit a devastating clothesline, followed by a dead lift powerbomb and the Doctor Bomb for the victory.

**********

Sid Scala had a breaking news announcement and said if all parties agree, WALTER would defend his NXT UK championship against A-Kid in the new year.

**********

NXT UK Tag Team Championship: Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) defeated The Hunt (Wild Boar & Primate) w/Eddie Dennis to retain the titles (07:59)

The Hunt attacked Wolfgang right away and took turns beating him down. He eventually managed to pick up Boar and drive him into his corner, allowing Coffey to tag in.

Dennis briefly distracted Coffey, allowing his guys to take back over. The Hunt were firmly in control as Eddie Dennis played his part at ringside to ensure his team stayed on top of their opponents.

Coffey finally made the hot tag to Wolfgang, who ran wild on both opponents. Dennis freely interfered behind the referee’s back, until Joe Coffey ran out and drove him into the ring steps.

As Joe Coffey argued with the ref, The Hunt went to the top in order to deliver their double flying headbutts. Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster then ran out and pushed The Hunt off the turnbuckles, allowing Gallus to hit their powerslam/head kick finisher on Wild Boar for the successful title defense.

As Gallus celebrated, Pretty Deadly walked out, looking to challenge the champions.

As the teams had words back and forth, Asthon Smith & Oliver Carter came out, attacked Pretty Deadly and threw them into the ring, where Gallus promptly beat them up and threw them to the outside again.

The tag team division in NXT UK certainly looks stacked going into 2021.

Next week —

A special Christmas Edition of NXT UK.

WALTER to defend NXT UK Championship against A-Kid

NXT UK Champion WALTER’s next challenger looks to officially be set.

Following a challenge that was issued on this week’s episode of NXT UK, it was announced that — if all parties are in agreement — WALTER will defend his NXT UK Championship against A-Kid in the new year. A date for the title match wasn’t announced.

A-Kid won NXT UK’s Heritage Cup tournament last month and retained the Heritage Cup Championship against Tyler Bate last week. A-Kid cut an in-ring promo on this week’s NXT UK, saying recent months have been amazing for him. He said Bate is his mentor and the last thing Bate taught A-Kid is that he belongs with the best. A-Kid then issued a challenge to WALTER for an NXT UK Championship match.

WALTER then came down to the ring and confronted A-Kid. He said watching A-Kid in the Heritage Cup tournament was great and he can see A-Kid is proud to be a professional wrestler, but how dare A-Kid act like he represents the heritage of this sport. WALTER said that, just like everyone else who climbed the ladder of success, A-Kid’s fairytale will come to an end when he steps into the ring with WALTER. WALTER said him being NXT UK Champion is the one thing that will never change.

WALTER has been NXT UK Champion since winning the title from Pete Dunne at NXT TakeOver: New York in April 2019. Today’s NXT UK was the first time WALTER has appeared on the show since retaining his title against Ilja Dragunov on the October 29 episode of NXT UK.

Quick results —

  • Jordan Devlin successfully defended his NXT Cruiserweight championship against Oliver Carter in week 1 of his open challenge series
  • Noam Dar debuted his Supernova 11 Series talk show; his guests were NXT UK Heritage Cup winner A-Kid and, unexpectedly, a returning Tyler Bate. Dar stirred things up and they ended up agreeing to a Heritage Cup match later tonight
  • Eddie Dennis and The Hunt pressured Sid Scala into a tag team title match for next week
  • Isla Dawn beat Xia Brookside after Nina Samuels distracted Xia from the big screen
  • Saxon Huxley attacked Jack Starz and Levi Muir af the UK Performance Center
  • A-Kid successfully defended his Heritage Cup championship against Tyler Bate, winning 2-1; Bate scored the first fall with a rollup, A-Kid scored the second fall from a moonsault implant DDT and then turned over a jackknife cover in round 6 for the final pin

Report —

The show opened with Jordan Devlin in the ring as he welcomed us to NXT UK, the show with the real NXT Cruiserweight champion. He kicked off week 1 of the Jordan Devlin’s Cruiserweight Championship Open Challenge. He said every time you saw Jordan Devlin in the ring, the championship was on the line.

Backstage, Ashton Smith was pumping up Oliver Carter and told him to go out there and win for Switzerland (his native country) and Ghana (the country he has his roots in). They came out together but Smith went to the back before the match.

NXT Cruiserweight Championship: Jordan Devlin pinned Oliver Carter to retain the title (06:30)

Devlin beat Carter down, but the challenger came back, showing his athletic prowess with a back flip kick into the corner and arm drags.

Devlin caught Carter’s foot and he went to back flip, but Carter bounced into the ropes and landed right on his neck, which either was a brutal accident or an intricately planned spot. He sold the neck the rest of the match and Devlin worked it over.

Carter came back and even hit a hurricanrana on Devlin, who was on the top rope. Carter hit a uranage, but once more sold his neck and couldn’t follow up on it. He hit an enzuigiri into the corner, but Devlin hit a poison rana, which once more spiked Carter on the neck.

Devlin followed up with Devlinside for the pinfall victory.

**********

Jinny was interviewed at the UK Performance Center. She was asked about Piper Niven and said that she would deal with Niven on her own time and Niven would not see her coming. But for now, she does not concern herself with Niven and said she tamed wild animals in the past and would do so again.

Supernova 11 Sessions

Noam Dar hosted the first episode of his new talk segment. The setup was a lounge, complete with a couch and snacks. Dar put himself over, then introduced his guest, the first-ever NXT UK Heritage Cup champion, A-Kid. Dar laid on the couch while A-Kid had to sit on a folding chair.

Dar greeted A-Kid in French, then asked if he spoke English in Spanish. A-Kid said that Dar knew full well he spoke English and in fact, he may speak it better than Dar himself.

A-Kid said after beating Dar in the tournament, he was happy to be here. Dar said he was looking to clear up the misconception that they were rivals and that when A-Kid came to NXT UK, Dar took him under his wing, nurtured him and became his mentor and sensei. A-Kid looked like this was news to him.

Dar even gave him a new name and said after winning the Heritage Cup, he was no longer A-Kid but A-Man. A-Kid told him to stop, that he was in fact not his mentor, sensei or friend. He said a lot of people helped him out, but Dar was not one of them. A-Kid said that no one helped him more than Tyler Bate. Dar ran down Bate and called him a has-been, asking who he ever beat.

At that point, Bate’s music played and he made his return to NXT UK after more than 9 months. Dar played all nice and clapped, but Bate blew him off and congratulated A-Kid on winning the Heritage Cup. He said he wished he could have been in the tournament and Dar immediately picked up on it, asking if what Bate meant to say was that he would have beaten A-Kid. Bate said that’s not what he said and not to put words in his mouth.

Dar said they should have the match tonight and he even would go to Johnny Saint to request it, so that they could find out who was the student and who was the master. Bate and A-Kid agreed to have the match and shook hands on it.

Eddie Dennis and The Hunt walked into Sid Scala’s office. The Hunt positioned themselves on either side of Scala and growled at him menacingly, then began to throw things off his desk.

Dennis asked about who were the previous tag team champions (Mark Andrews & Fash Morgan Webster) and who beat them last week (The Hunt). He demanded that the Hunt get a title match against Gallus.

Scala, clearly scared, stammered that he had to talk to Johnny Saint about that. Dennis told him to go and do that, then snapped his fingers and left with The Hunt.

Isla Dawn pinned Xia Brookside (05:24)

Both women were more aggressive than in the past and had a back and forth match.

They brawled on the outside after a dive by Brookside when a stagehand set down a number of bags and suitcases by the ringside area. Nina Samuels appeared on the screen and told Xia (who beat her a few weeks ago) that “Brooksides are only good for carrying my bags.”

This distracted Xia, who walked right into a head kick by Isla. Dawn followed with a Saito suplex for the win.

Sid Scala was being interviewed about how things were going at the NXT UK Performance Center when Saxon Huxley came crashing out of a room, screaming “Better luck next time!” and smashing some trash cans.

Scala and the camera ran into the room, where Levi Muir and Jack Starz where on the floor after having been attacked by Huxley. They had told Huxley after his last match week that he may have “better luck next time.”

NXT UK Heritage Cup finals: A-Kid defeated Trent Seven at 5:17 of the sudden-death overtime period (23:22)

This was an excellent match, telling a great story with Seven being the desperate veteran looking for one final big win to cement his legacy and A-Kid being the young up-and-comer looking for his first big win to make a name for himself. Seven, as the guy who helped put Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate on the map, both who have surpassed him at this point, was perfect for this role. A-Kid is an excellent worker and will go far in this business.

They went the full six rounds and were tied 1-1 at the end. A-Kid pinned Seven after a flying kick in round three, and Seven managed to turn a submission into a roll-up in round six. Therefore, the match went into a sudden-death overtime period for the deciding fall, which A-Kid scored by submission.

Round One:

Seven hit a gutwrench powerbomb as the first real offensive move of the match, but A-Kid kicked out of a pin right away. They traded submissions around the two-minute mark and kept it up until the round ended.

Round Two:

A-Kid firmly controlled Seven with holds and submission attempts throughout the round. Seven punched him in the face right at the end of the round.

Round Three:

A-Kid hit a running enzuigiri into the corner, smashing right into Seven’s water bottle. They traded chops and kicks, including A-Kid hitting a Pele kick, followed by a flying kick that put Seven down for the pin at 1:35 of the round. A-Kid took a 1-0 lead.

Round Four:

A-Kid continued to lock in submission after submission and went for an armbar. Seven eventually slammed his way out of it, but A-Kid locked it in again and neither would let go, even after the round ended.

Round Five:

A-Kid went for more submissions, but Seven hit a DDT for a near fall. A lariat by Seven launched A-Kid onto the ropes and Seven tried to go for the Burning Hammer. A-Kid escaped and they battled on the top turnbuckle as time ticked away. A-Kid eventually landed on top of Seven and went for the pin with two seconds left, but the round ended in mid-pin at 2.5.

Round Six:

Seven went for a roll-up, hit a snap dragon suplex, and then hit an Emerald Frosion, but he couldn’t get the pin. A-Kid went for a small package for another near fall. Seven hit the Burning Hammer and struggled to make the pin. A-Kid got his leg under the ropes.

Seven was exhausted around the 1:40 mark but hit a lariat for another near fall. Seven eventually rolled out of a submission and managed to pin A-Kid at 2:30 of the round to tie A-Kid at 1-1.

The match then went into sudden-death overtime.

Overtime:

A-kid went wild with kicks, but Seven turned him inside out with a lariat as he came off the ropes. They fought on the apron until Seven slammed A-Kid to the mats on the outside and both men struggled to make it back into the ring. A-Kid just barely made it back in to avoid being counted out.

Seven hit the Seven Star Lariat and then went for the Burning Hammer, but A-Kid flipped out, hit a super kick, and followed with a flying kick into the ropes. Seven went for an omoplata, but A-Kid countered into a submission of his own. A-Kid forced Seven’s arms behind his back and locked them with his legs. Seven struggled but eventually had to submit, crowning A-Kid the first-ever NXT UK Heritage Cup Champion.

Scala was going to give the Heritage Cup trophy to A-Kid after the match, but Seven took the trophy from Scala and presented it to A-Kid himself. A-Kid celebrated as the show went off the air.
