UFC on ESPN+ 115 live results: Johnny Walker vs. Zhang Mingyang

For the first time since November 2017, the Octagon returns to mainland China for an exciting night of fights as UFC on ESPN+ 115 takes place inside the Shanghai Indoor Stadium in Shanghai.

The main event is an exciting five-round battle at light heavyweight as Johnny Walker takes on rising Chinese contender Zhang Mingyang. Walker is looking to get back into the win column as he hasn’t scored a victory over his previous three outings, while Zhang looks to extend a 12-fight win streak after scoring a first-round TKO over Anthony Smith in April.

The co-main event is also a five-round bout as former featherweight title challenger Brian Ortega takes on former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling. This fight was originally slated to take place at featherweight, but a last-minute change sees these two fighting at a 153-pound catchweight with Ortega looking like he went through a rough weight cut.

Also on the main card is a heavyweight battle between top-ranked contenders Sergei Pavlovich and Waldo Cortes-Acosta; a flyweight bout pitting Sumudaerji against Kevin Borjas; and a welterweight opener between the debuting Taiyilake Nueraji and Kiefer Crosbie.

There were a pair of official UFC bouts that took place on yesterday’s Road to UFC Season 4 event, with the results as follows:

Yizha starts landing and Wilson gets up. Yizha keeps landing shots and Wilson goes down again and it is all over! What a blitzing finish from Yizha!

Pereira with a pair of body kicks. Daukaus drops Pereira with a right hand and gets on top and starts landing and lands an elbow and it is stopped! Pereira immediately got up in protest but he looked out from the elbow. Big win from Daukaus in his UFC return!

UFC on ESPN+ 92 live results: Magomed Ankalaev vs. Johnny Walker 2

The UFC kicks off their 2024 schedule back at their home base with UFC on ESPN+ 92: Ankalaev vs. Walker 2 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main event is a heated rematch at 205 pounds as Magomed Ankalaev and Johnny Walker run it back over five rounds. The two squared off at UFC 294 in October but fought to a no contest after Ankalaev landed an illegal knee and Walker was deemed unable to continue. That wasn’t the end of it as both men tried to go after each other afterward and security, as well as Dana White, had to keep them separated.

In the co-main event, Jim Miller, the all-time leader in UFC fights and UFC wins, takes on Gabriel Benitez in a lightweight fight. Also on the main card is a bantamweight bout between Ricky Simon and Mario Bautista, a middleweight fight pitting Phil Hawes against Brunno Ferreira, and a heavyweight bout between former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and Waldo Cortes-Acosta.

Big upset victory from Motta.

The Octagon is back inside the UFC APEX this weekend with a late-notice light heavyweight main event between two guys who like to slug it out on the feet.

Tenth-ranked light heavyweight Johnny Walker and twelfth-ranked Jamahal Hill square off in the night’s five-round main event. They’re a late replacement for the headline spot as the original main event, a lightweight bout between Rafael Dos Anjos and Rafael Fiziev, was pushed back a few weeks due to visa issues. Walker is looking to get back into the win column while Hill is looking for his second straight win.

Also on the main card is a middleweight bout between Kyle Daukaus and Jamie Pickett, a heavyweight bout pitting Parker Porter against Alan Baudot, a lightweight bout that sees Jim Miller extend his record for most all-time UFC fights against Nikolas Motta, and a middleweight slugfest between Joaquin Buckley and Abdul Razak Alhassan.

It is in deep and Pearce is fighting hard to get out. Pearce somehow escapes. Pearce takes the back and they scramble with both reversing. Pearce has the back and looks to roll for an arm-triangle choke. Pearce lands right hands from the back and is trying to set up a choke. Pearce has the back as the round ends. 10-9 Pearce.

They trade punches to start the second. Pearce fakes a takedown attempt. Rodriguez lands a right hand. Pearce landing leg kicks as Rodriguez is landing punches and Pearce gets a takedown. Pearce gets the back and Rodriguez goes for an armbar but Pearce escapes and still has the back as they remain on the mat. Pearce goes for a rear-naked choke but lets go. Anheliger lands a right hand and Strader goes to the mat and Anheliger gets on top. Anheliger lands from the top and they scramble to the feet. Egger gets the takedown but they get up and Clark gets a takedown but they get right back up. Egger gets another takedown and then is able to find an armbar and gets Clark to tap. Nice finish by Egger as she gets the upset.

They’re tied up and Daukaus lands some punches as they break and Pickett circles away. Daukaus rushes in and scores another takedown. Daukaus has a D’Arce choke locked in and Pickett looks to have tapped right before the horn sounded to end the round. What a crazy finish.

The UFC kicks off a busy month of October with the first of five events being held during the month, with an exciting light heavyweight main event kicking everything off.

Former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Thiago Santos looks to end a three-fight losing skid when he takes on exciting opponent Johnny Walker in the five-round main event. Santos is looking to rebound from losses to Jon Jones, Glover Teixeira and Aleksandar Rakic and score his first win since February 2019. Walker fights for the first time in over a year as he looks to score his second straight win after finishing Ryan Spann in September 2020.

Also on the main card is a battle of middleweights as Kevin Holland and Kyle Daukaus square off, welterweights Alex Oliveira and Niko Price meet in a battle between the two men on the UFC roster with the most kids, as well as a middleweight bout as Misha Cirkunov takes on Krzysztof Jotko.

Eduardo lands a right hand to the body. He lands a leg kick. Eduardo lands a combo to the body. They trade in close range with both landing. Eduardo with a leg kick. Perez lands a leg kick. Eduardo lands a leg kick. Perez with a right hand. Perez the one pressing forward. 10-9 Eduardo.

Perez lands first to start the round then Eduardo starts landing leg kicks and one to the body. Perez throws a punch and they tie up and Eduardo gets the takedown and works on the top near the fence. They scramble up and Perez gets a takedown and works from the top. Perez looks for the neck a couple of times but Eduardo is able to escape and Perez gets to full side control. Perez hooking the arm and gets a form of a choke and Eduardo taps. Nice finish by Perez.

Egger gets a takedown and almost got into full mount. Young attacking the leg looking for a leg lock. Egger landing some big shots as she stands. Egger is able to move side control. She lands punches from the position. Egger lands some elbows. 10-9 Egger.

Young throwing and lands a body kick to start the second. Egger lands a nice right hand. Egger with a leg kick and Young lands a right hand. Egger gets a takedown and is in side control. Egger landing some left hands and Young is trying to use the fence to escape. Egger with a big elbow and Young is covering up and the fight is stopped. Nice finish by Egger.

They trade kicks. Pirrello went for a kick and Andrade lands a left hook that sends Pirrello right to the mat and it is over after Andrade lands a hammerfist as Chris Tognoni was rushing in to stop it. What a knockout by Andrade.

Smith with a right hand and then a combo wobbles Mullarkey. Smith threw a knee and lost his balance and Mullarkey recovered. Smith rocks Mullarkey with a combo and a knee but Mullarkey recovers. Smith with a leg kick. Both throwing as Mullarkey rushes in. Mullarkey has the back as the round ends. 10-9 Smith.

Mullarkey lands the jab. Mullarkey with a nice heavy leg kick. Smith circles away and they trade jabs. Mullarkey with another leg kick as he’s attacking the lead leg. Mullarkey with a right hand as Smith lands a leg kick. They’re trading punches. They tie up and Mullarkey with some knees. Mullarkey with an elbow and more knees and then more elbows and then some punches. Mullarkey with some big shots and Smith falls to the ground and Mullarkey with some big punches and it is stopped. Wow, what a comeback and upset as Mullarkey gets the win.

O’Neill with pressure right away and is landing. Shevchenko lands a combo but eats some punches and a body kick from O’Neill. They trade and we have a warning for Shevchenko. They get back to action and trade and Shevchenko tries for a takedown but they scramble for position on the mat. Shevchenko clears the leg and gets side control. Shevchenko with some short punches. Shevchenko traps the arm and lands but O’Neill escapes. They break. They trade in close range and Shevchenko with some knees from the Thai clinch. They trade and O’Neill looks for a taedown and gets it and is on top. O’Neill landing from the top. O’Neill stands and lands and Shevchenko is getting warned about toes in the cage. They get to their feet. Shevchenko throws a kick and O’Neill catches it and takes her down and lands some big shots to end the round. Close round. 10-9 O’Neill.

O’Neill then gets a takedown and is in the guard of Shevchenko. Shevchenko trying to escape and gives her back to O’Neill, who lands some punches. O’Neill has the back and gets the hooks in. O’Neill swings arond to the top and has the full mount. O’Neill with some punches and elbows. O’Neill with some big shots from the top. She’s landing lots of punches and Shevchenko is covering up. O’Neill looks for a choke but goes back to punching. O’Neill staying busy and is landing lots of shots. O’Neill with some heavy elbows. More big shots from the mount and more elbows from O’Neill. This should be stopped. More big shots from O’Neill and it’s finally stopped. That was way late but what a stoppage by O’Neill.

Gordon lands an uppercut but Solecki gets the body and scores a takedown, but they scramble up. Solecki with the pressure against the fence. Solecki with a big knee. Gordon with some side elbows to the side of the head. Gordon lands a couple of knees as Solecki is trying hard for the takedown. They continue to be tied up as they switch sides on the cage and Solecki gets the takedown. Gordon now on top and in the guard of Solecki and he’s landing some. Hernandez landing and Breeden is hurt. Hernandez landing some big shots and then drops Breeden with a massive right hand and it is over. What a finish by Hernandez!

They’re clinched against the fence but separate. Cirkunov with a leg kick. Jotko lands one. They trade punches. They trade kicks and punches. Cirkunov with a leg kick. They trade punches and Cirkunov lands a leg kick. Cirkunov with a short right hook. Jotko with a leg kick. They clinch and Jotko with some knees. Cirkunov tries a takedown but Jotko defends and they separate. Jotko tries a trip takedown but it doesn’t work and they’re clinched. Not much is happening and they break. They clashed heads and Holland went down and Daukaus jumps on top and starts landing. Daukaus now looking for a choke. He has a guillotine lokced in but Holland escapes. Daukaus landing punches and has the back as they stand. Daukaus has the rear-naked choke locked in and Holland taps! The clash of heads changed everything. After a long discussion, the fight has been ruled a no contest. That feels like the right call, and they should run it back.

Mr. Wrestling II passes away at 85 years old

Johnny Walker, better known as 70s and 80s star Mr. Wrestling II, has passed away at the age of 85.

Born John Francis Walker in Charleston, NC, he made his debut in 1955 and worked for nearly 10 years under his birth name before retiring. He returned a few years later under a mask as The Grappler before going back into semi-retirement in 1972.

However, it was his decade-plus run as Mr. Wrestling II that many fans are the most familiar with. Originally teaming with Mr. Wrestling (Tim Woods), he worked in Florida and Georgia and held the Georgia heavyweight title ten times. He also worked in Mid-South Wrestling and was part of a memorable angle with a young Magnum T.A.

He retired in 1990 after working sparingly for WWF, Continental Championship Wrestling, and other groups.

He was also the favorite wrestler of past U.S. president Jimmy Carter and his mother and was even invited to Carter’s inauguration. He had to decline due to insisting on wearing his mask which was an issue with the Secret Service.

Walker, who was living in Hawaii, leaves three sons behind. His wife Olivia, who designed robes for Ric Flair at one point, passed away in 2000.
