The Great Muta no longer confirmed for Joey Janela’s Spring Break IV

The Great Muta is out of Joey Janela’s Spring Break IV due to a collapse in negotiations.

In a statement posted on Game Changer Wrestling’s Twitter this evening, the promotion stated that “it does not appear” that Muta will be at the event.

GCW wrote that they went through their normal intermediary and reached two seperate deals for Muta, one to wrestle at Spring Break and another for both the Spring Break event and also for Muta to appear at WrestleCon as a guest of GCW.

They wrote that in December, they were contacted by Sonny Onoo. He claimed that he would be taking over the booking matters going forward and wanted more work for Muta. Onoo claimed that a vendor had made a good offer to bring in Muta for WrestleCon and would only take the Spring Break booking.

Negotiations fell apart when GCW told Onoo that they expected any vendor who was interested in bringing in Muta to share travel and lodging expenses. Onoo allegedly accused GCW of preventing Muta from getting work.

GCW wrote that they later found out that the vendor was in fact Onoo, who later admitted to it. They have since tried to arrange a deal with Onoo, but he has not responded to their messages.

Onoo later wrote on Twitter that “No air reservation was ever booked or deposit was sent by this promotion.” GCW replied in a follow-up tweet saying that this was “a complete lie,” and that Onoo had never given any information for Muta.

Joey Janela’s Spring Break IV will take place on April 3 at The Cuban Club in Ybor City, Florida. A match between Orange Cassidy and Minoru Suzuki has been announced, and other talents set to appear include Will Ospreay and Alex Shelley.

Minoru Suzuki vs. Orange Cassidy announced for Spring Break IV

A new match has been announced for Joey Janela’s Spring Break IV.

Janela released a trailer during the Super Bowl halftime show revealing that Minoru Suzuki will face off against Orange Cassidy. The video announcement was an animation featuring both men preparing for a duel, and also highlighted their contrasting styles.

It would technically be a battle between a NJPW regular and someone who is under contract to AEW.

It had already been announced previously that Minoru Suzuki would be a part of WrestleMania weekend festivities. He is signed to face Chris Dickinson at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport III on April 2. Both Bloodsport and Spring Break are being held under Game Changer Wrestling’s The Collective banner of events.

The Great Muta, Alex Shelley and Will Ospreay have also been announced for the event.
