Impact Wrestling viewership down against NFL Draft

Going against the first round of the NFL Draft, Impact Wrestling viewership was down for its Rebellion fallout episode.

Last night’s Impact averaged 120,000 viewers on AXS TV, down from the 145,000 that last Thursday’s Rebellion go-home episode of the show averaged. The rating in the 18-49 demo was steady at a 0.05.

The opening night of the NFL Draft averaged 6.478 million viewers on ESPN, 4.192 million viewers on ABC, and 1.850 million viewers on the NFL Network last night. The ESPN broadcast topped all of television with a 2.41 rating in 18-49.

In the 18-49 demo, Impact ranked 112th on cable last night. Last week’s episode ranked 113th.

AEW World Champion Kenny Omega won the Impact World Championship by defeating Rich Swann in a title vs. title match at Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion pay-per-view this past Sunday. On last night’s Impact, there was a show-long storyline where it was said that Omega would be stripped of the Impact World Championship and indefinitely suspended from both Impact and AEW if he didn’t appear in person. Omega & The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) appeared near the end of the show, attacking Eddie Edwards and Sami Callihan during the main event.

Impact Tag Team Champions Juice Robinson & David Finlay tried to make the save after Omega & The Good Brothers’ attack but were beat down.

A six-man tag match with Omega & The Good Brothers facing Edwards, Robinson & Finlay has been announced for Impact Wrestling’s Under Siege Impact Plus special that’s taking place on Saturday, May 15.

Impact Wrestling ratings down from Thursday debut

Coming off last week’s Thursday debut, Impact Wrestling viewership was down 21 percent last night.

Last night’s Impact averaged 132,000 viewers on AXS TV, down from the 168,000 viewers that the show’s Thursday debut averaged the previous week. Last week’s Impact featured Kenny Omega wrestling on the show, with him teaming with The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) against Rich Swann, Willie Mack & Eddie Edwards in a six-man tag team main event. Last week’s Impact went against NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver night two, which aired live on Peacock.

This Thursday’s Impact was headlined by a press conference with AEW World Champion Omega and Impact World Champion Swann ahead of their title vs. title match at Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion pay-per-view on Sunday, April 25.

In the 18-49 demo, Impact drew a 0.04 rating. That’s down from the 0.06 rating the show drew last week.

Impact ranked 138th for the night on cable in 18-49. Last week’s episode ranked 115th.

Vice TV’s Dark Side of the Ring: Confidential, which moved to Thursdays starting this week, ranked 134th on cable in 18-49 last night. It averaged 130,000 viewers overall and drew a 0.04 rating in 18-49.

Impact Wrestling ratings up for Thursday debut

Impact Wrestling got a ratings increase for its first episode since moving to Thursday nights.

Thursday’s Impact averaged 168,000 viewers on AXS TV, up from the 149,000 viewers that the final Tuesday episode of the show averaged last week. This was Impact’s best viewership number since February 23.

The rating in the 18-49 demo was a 0.06. That tied the February 16 episode for the best rating Impact has done in the demo in 2021.

Impact ranked 115th for the night on cable in 18-49. Last week’s episode wasn’t in the cable top 150.

This week’s Impact featured AEW World Champion Kenny Omega’s first non-PPV match for the promotion. The episode went against night two of NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, which aired exclusively on Peacock in the United States. Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport 6, which aired as an iPPV on Fite TV, also took place at the same time as Impact.

Rich Swann, Eddie Edwards & Willie Mack defeated Omega & The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) in the main event of this week’s Impact. Omega and Impact World Champion Swann are facing off in a title vs. title match at Impact’s Rebellion pay-per-view on Sunday, April 25.

  • PWInsider is reporting another segment has been removed from Peacock, this time from a July 6, 1998 episode of Raw where members of D-Generation X dressed as The Nation of Domination. The episode is not yet on Peacock, but was removed from a video package that aired during the SummerSlam 1998 broadcast.
  • Charly Arnholt, formerly Charly Caruso, spoke to TVInsider about her departure from WWE, saying nothing bad happened. “There is always going to be chatter,” she said. “The contract was coming up. Instead of renewing, I’m moving on. Everyone is going to have their own opinions regardless. I never had any issues while I was at WWE. Nothing bad happened. As far as I’m concerned, I’m leaving on a positive note and beginning what I believe to be the next step in my career.”
  • Guests on this week’s episode of The Bump include The New Day, Trish Stratus, Mick Foley, Jerry Lawler, Sami Zayn, and Carmella.
  • During today’s episode of The Bump, it was announced that the show will be airing three times next week during WrestleMania week: the normal Wednesday show, Saturday at 1 pm ET for WrestleMania day one, and Sunday at 1 pm ET for WrestleMania day 2.

  • William Regal told Daily Star that he pushed WWE to sign Sasha Banks, to the point that he was ready to leave the company over it. “I wasn’t doing this job then but in the afternoon at the shows, I’d always be training outside the ring and she’d be one of the ones who would always come and talk,” he said. “When it came to me getting this job… I went to them [about Sasha] and said ‘look, if this doesn’t work out, you can fire me. To see the way she has come through this, and to see what she’s done [is] incredible.”
  • G. Gordon Liddy, a former FBI agent that was later linked to the Watergate scandal that ended the presidency of Richard Nixon, passed away yesterday at the age of 90. In professional wrestling, he appeared at WrestleMania 2 as a celebrity judge for the Mr. T vs. Roddy Piper boxing match.

Impact Wrestling draws lowest viewership of 2021

Despite AEW World Champion Kenny Omega returning on the episode, this week’s Impact Wrestling drew the show’s lowest viewership of 2021 thus far.

Tuesday’s Impact averaged 116,000 viewers on AXS TV, down from the 146,000 viewers that last week’s episode averaged. The rating in the 18-49 demo stayed steady at a 0.04. Impact has drawn a 0.04 rating in 18-49 for three straight weeks.

In the 18-49 demo, Impact ranked 146th for the night on cable. Last week’s Impact, which featured the fallout from Impact’s Sacrifice Impact Plus special, ranked 135th. 

Omega returned to Impact on last night’s show ahead of facing Impact World Champion Rich Swann in a title vs. title match at next month’s Rebellion pay-per-view. It was announced today that Rebellion will now take place on Sunday, April 25. The PPV was originally set for Saturday, April 24.

This was Omega’s first appearance on Impact since the fallout of January’s Hard to Kill PPV. Omega & The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) defeated Swann, Moose & Chris Sabin in the main event of Hard to Kill, with Omega pinning Swann after hitting the One Winged Angel.

Ratings for Tuesday’s edition of Impact Wrestling were essentially unchanged from last week’s Sacrifice go-home show.

Tuesday’s Impact averaged 146,000 viewers on AXS TV, up slightly from the 144,000 viewers that last week’s episode averaged. The rating in the 18-49 demo was steady at a 0.04.

In the 18-49 demo, Impact ranked 135th for the night on cable. Last week’s episode ranked 117th.

This week’s Impact featured the fallout from Sacrifice. Sacrifice aired on Impact Plus on Saturday night and was headlined by Impact World Champion Rich Swann defeating self-proclaimed TNA World Heavyweight Champion Moose in a title unification match. The X-Division Championship and Impact Tag Team titles also changed hands at Sacrifice. Ace Austin defeated TJP to win the X-Division Championship, while FinJuice (David Finlay & Juice Robinson) defeated The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) to win the Impact Tag Team titles.

Swann will face AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in a title vs. title match in the main event of Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion pay-per-view on Saturday, April 24. FinJuice are facing The Good Brothers in a Tag Team title rematch at Rebellion.

After drawing its lowest numbers of 2021 last week, Impact Wrestling ratings were up slightly on Tuesday night.

Tuesday’s Impact averaged 144,000 viewers on AXS TV, up from the 134,000 viewers that last week’s Impact averaged. The rating in the 18-49 demo ticked up to a 0.04. Last week’s Impact drew a 0.03 rating in the demo.

In the 18-49 demo, Impact ranked 117th on cable last night. Last week’s episode ranked 130th.

This was Impact’s second-lowest viewership number of 2021 thus far.

Impact averaged 197,000 viewers on AXS TV on Tuesday night, up from the 153,000 viewers that last week’s episode averaged. The rating in the 18-49 demo was a 0.06. Last week’s Impact drew a 0.04 rating in the demo.

The overall viewership and rating in the key demo were both the best numbers for Impact since December 8, which was the episode where Kenny Omega made his first appearance for Impact Wrestling.

Tuesday’s episode of Impact averaged 153,000 viewers on AXS TV, down from the 173,000 viewers that last week’s Impact averaged. The rating in the 18-49 demo was a 0.04. Impact had drawn a 0.05 rating in 18-49 the two previous weeks.

This week’s Impact was headlined by a contract signing for Rich Swann and Tommy Dreamer’s Impact World Championship match at No Surrender. It also featured The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) defending their Impact Tag Team titles against Chris Sabin & James Storm, which ended in a disqualification when AEW’s Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) ran in and cost Sabin & Storm the match. Sabin & Storm have been added to the Tag Team title match at No Surrender. The Good Brothers will now defend their titles against Private Party and Sabin & Storm in a three-way match.

Tuesday night’s Impact averaged 186,000 viewers on AXS TV, up from the 147,000 viewers that last week’s Hard to Kill fallout episode of Impact averaged. The show drew a 0.05 rating in the 18-49 demo, up from last week’s 0.03 rating. The 0.05 rating matched what Impact drew for its Hard to Kill go-home show two weeks ago.

Impact ranked 118th for the night on cable in the 18-49 demo. Last week’s episode, which aired on the eve of Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration, ranked 145th.

Last week’s Impact featured unadvertised appearances by AEW’s Private Party, Matt Hardy, Tony Khan, and Jerry Lynn.
