Kenny Omega wins AAA Mega title at Heroes Inmortales

Kenny Omega is the new AAA Mega Champion.

At AAA Heroes Inmortales tonight, Omega defeated Fenix to win the title. Fenix’s nose was busted open at one point in the match. He was pinned after Omega hit the One Winged Angel.

Fenix offered Omega a handshake after, but Omega instead posed and held up his title belt.

Omega vs. Fenix was set up by a challenge that Omega issued at Triplemania XXVII in August. Fenix, Pentagon Jr. & Laredo Kid defeated Omega & The Young Bucks at that show.

AEW and AAA announced a working relationship between the promotions this February.

This is Omega’s first title win since losing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 13 this January. Omega signed with AEW and lost to Chris Jericho at Double or Nothing, with Jericho going on to defeat Hangman Page to become the inaugural AEW World Champion.

Omega is currently involved in a storyline with Jon Moxley. They’ll face off at AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view on Saturday, November 9.

Kenny Omega vs. Fenix set for AAA Heroes Inmortales

After the match was set up at Triplemania XXVII, Lucha Libre AAA has set a date for Fenix vs. Kenny Omega.

Fenix will defend his AAA Mega Championship against Omega at AAA Heroes Inmortales on Saturday, October 19. The show is taking place at Coliseo La Concordia in Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico and will air live on Twitch. English and Spanish commentary will both be available.

Pentagon Jr., Fenix & Laredo Kid defeated Omega & The Young Bucks at Triplemania last month. After the match, Omega issued a challenge to Fenix and said he wanted Fenix’s Mega title. After Fenix accepted, Omega said he’ll prove why AEW is better than AAA.

A partnership between AEW and AAA was announced this February.

Omega and Fenix have had one singles match against each other before, with Omega defeating Fenix at a show for Northeast Wrestling in 2018.

Jeff Jarrett loses hair at AAA Heroes Inmortales

Jeff Jarrett no longer has any hair after last night’s AAA Heroes Inmortales event.

In the main event, Dr. Wagner Jr. defeated Jarrett to win their hair vs. hair match. The match had tons of interference, with both Karen Jarrett and Rey Escorpion getting involved. Wagner Jr. ended up getting the win after whacking Jarrett over the head with a guitar.

Blue Demon Jr., who seconded Dr. Wagner during the match, ended up turning on him as the match went on, likely signaling Wagner’s next feud.

Other matches on Heroes Inmortales had Faby Apache defeating Scarlett Bordeaux, Starfire and Keyra to to retain the AAA Reinas de Reinas title, Rey Escorpion Jr. & Texano Jr. retained the AAA tag team titles, defeating Bandido & Flamita and DJZ & Laredo Kid, Murder Clown & Psycho Clown defeating Killer Kross & Monster Clown inside a cage and Pagano winning the Copa Antonio Pena, last eliminating Hijo del Fantasma.

This isn’t the first time Jarrett has lost a hair match — he also lost his hair to X-Pac back at SummerSlam 1998.

Alberto Del Rio no-shows AAA Heroes Inmortales on Sunday night

Alberto El Patron no-showed last night’s AAA Heroes Inmortales show at Arena Monterrey, where he was scheduled to team with Psycho Clown and face Dr. Wagner Jr. & Pagano.

Alberto was considered the big draw at one of AAA’s biggest shows of the year, and the claim was that as late as the morning of the show he was in contact with the promotion and said he would be there. When the word got out that he was not going to be there, there were expectations that he’d make a surprise appearance on the TNA Bound for Glory PPV, since it’s well known TNA has been recruiting him hard. But that didn’t happen either.

The main event was changed to a three-way with Psycho vs. Wagner vs. Pagano.

AAA’s press release, translated into English and with paragraph breaks added, read:

“Lucha Libre AAA WorldWide announced that for reasons outside the company’s control, Alberto “El Patron” was not present for Heroes Inmortales X, which took place today.  This, despite having confirmed his presence in advance and even this morning.”

“We regret the lack of commitment of Alberto, as he disrespected the Mexican public that has supported him throughout his career, to turn him into one of the leading figures of Lucha Libre in Mexico, and internationally. For Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, it is important to offer the bet shows of international quality, in addition to strengthening Lucha Libre, which is an important part of our culture.”
