WWE NXT video highlights: Grayson Waller outsmarts Bron Breakker

Grayson Waller took a page out of Bret Hart’s playbook as he outsmarted Bron Breakker last night.

Though it was said Breakker was on a media tour, Waller goaded him into showing up to last night’s NXT. Waller declared that he didn’t want to wait for New Year’s Evil and was going to challenge Breakker for the NXT Championship last night instead.

As Waller was taunting him in the ring, Breakker showed up at the end of last night’s NXT. He headed straight to the ring and went after Waller. Breakker gave Waller a spear, but the move knocked Breakker out. Waller then got up and revealed that he was wearing a metal vest. Waller said he outsmarted Breakker and would outsmart him once again by winning the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil.

Waller won the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge match at NXT Deadline to earn a title match against Breakker at New Year’s Evil, which is taking place on Tuesday, January 10.

Waller posted a tweet after last night’s NXT comparing what he did to Breakker to what Bret Hart once did to Goldberg in WCW. “That was for all the flops backstage at NXT that kiss Shawn Michaels ass every single day,” Waller wrote.

Grayson Waller, Roxanne Perez win Iron Survivor matches at NXT Deadline

Grayson Waller and Roxanne Perez made WWE NXT history Saturday, winning the first-ever men’s and women’s Iron Survivor matches at Deadline.

Waller picked up his win by getting his third and game-winning point with less than a minute to go followed by him running away from everyone else to secure the win.

Axiom and JD McDonagh were the first two entrants with neither able to score a fall before Carmelo Hayes entered the fray as the third entrant. With three minutes to go before the fourth entrant, Hayes got a pin on Axiom after hitting a suplex-style cutter.

Waller was the fourth entrant, immediately scoring a pin first on on Axiom and then McDonagh after a combo DDT/cutter on both of them to get two quick points.

Even after the 90-second penalty box time expired on Axiom and McDonagh, Axiom closed the box and the two men fought inside with Axiom walking out. Several minutes later, Axiom scored a pin on Waller off a Frankensteiner roll-through followed by a pin on McDonagh on a reverse Frankensteiner and Golden Ratio to then tie Waller with two points.

Gacy entered the match last and got a submission on Axiom within a minute to pick up his first point. As Axiom went to the box, Waller attacked him and McDonagh followed suit to leave him in the box. Gacy got his second point after hitting an Upside Down World on Hayes.

Hayes got his second point after submitting Waller with a crossface as the match approached the 20-minute mark.

With less than a minute to go, Hayes hit his signature diving leg drop on Axiom but was thrown out of the ring by Waller who then pinned Axiom for the third and deciding point. He ran away from all the other wrestlers as the match wound down, securing his win.

With the victory, he earned a future shot at the NXT Championship.

In the main show opener, Perez won the first-ever women’s Iron Survivor match to earn a shot at NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose.

“The Prodigy” opened the match with Zoey Stark, followed by Kiana James entering the fray five minutes later. Stark went up 1-0 right as Cora Jade entered the match, pinning Perez after hitting Zo-Topia. Jade then got a pin shortly after, hitting Pop Rocks on James.

Hartwell was the final entrant, getting a quick pin on Perez after hitting a big boot which sent Perez to the penalty box for a second time as part of the match rules.

Perez managed to get her first point after reversing a Stark Zo-Topia attempt with a pinning combination. With two minutes left, Perez got revenge on her former partner, pinning Jade after hitting a Code Red for her second point which would prove to be the match winner.

James was the only competitor in the women’s match to not score a point while in the men’s match, McDonagh was also unable to pick up a point.

Grayson Waller Effect segment announced for WWE NXT

A Grayson Waller Effect segment will be part of the lineup for this Tuesday’s NXT.

While attending last weekend’s UFC event, Grayson Waller posted a video revealing that he’ll be hosting a new edition of his Grayson Waller Effect talk show on NXT this Tuesday night. The episode is the go-home show for NXT Deadline.

The segment is set to feature Waller and the four other wrestlers who will be competing in the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge match at this Saturday’s Deadline special. Waller, Carmelo Hayes, Joe Gacy, JD McDonagh, and either Von Wagner, Axiom, or Andre Chase will be the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge participants. A match between Wagner, Axiom, and Chase on Tuesday’s NXT will determine the final entrant.

The Iron Survivor Challenge is a 25-minute match where the wrestler who has earned the most falls at the end will be declared the winner. There will be a men’s Iron Survivor Challenge and a women’s Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline, with the winners becoming the number one contenders to the NXT Championship and NXT Women’s Championship.

Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Zoey Stark, Kiana James, and either Wendy Choo, Fallon Henley, or Indi Hartwell will be the women’s Iron Survivor Challenge participants.

The updated card for this Tuesday’s NXT is listed below:

  • The Grayson Waller Effect with Grayson Waller, Carmelo Hayes, Joe Gacy, JD McDonagh, and either Von Wagner, Axiom, or Andre Chase
  • Iron Survivor Challenge wild card match: Von Wagner vs. Axiom vs. Andre Chase
  • Iron Survivor Challenge wild card match: Wendy Choo vs. Fallon Henley vs. Indi Hartwell
  • Tony D’Angelo returns to the ring
  • Pretty Deadly present “A Real Christmas Story”

Apollo Crews vs. Grayson Waller announced for next WWE NXT

Apollo Crews will face Grayson Waller on the August 30 WWE NXT show.

The match stems from a segment on this week’s NXT episode, where Crews was a guest on the debut edition of “The Grayson Waller Effect” talk show.

Crews referred to Waller as a “low-budget Miz,” and the match for next week was made official.

A pair of trios bouts are also official for next week.

In a six-person mixed tag team bout, Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen, and Fallon Henley will face Lash Legend, and Pretty Deadly’s Elton Prince and Kit Wilson.

Also set for next week, Diamond Mine’s Brutus Creed, Julius Creed, and Damon Kemp will take on Gallus’s Mark Coffey, Joe Coffey, and Wolfgang.

The announced lineup for the August 30 NXT 2.0 episode:

  • Apollo Crews vs. Grayson Waller
  • Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen & Fallon Henley vs. Elton Prince, Kit Wilson & Lash Legend
  • Diamond Mine (Brutus Creed, Julius Creed & Damon Kemp) vs. Gallus (Mark Coffey, Joe Coffey & Wolfgang)

Three title matches added to NXT Great American Bash

Three title matches have been added to next week’s Great American Bash edition of NXT.

Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez will challenge Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacey Jayne) for the NXT Women’s Tag Team titles, while Carmelo Hayes will defend the North American title against Grayson Waller. Meanwhile, The Creed Brothers will defend the NXT Tag Team titles against fellow Diamond Mine members Roderick Strong and Damon Kemp.

Additionally, Wendy Choo will take on Tiffany Stratton, while Trick Williams will face Wes Lee.

Jade and Perez won tonight’s number one contendership match, defeating Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. The two teams confronted one another last week, leading to a brawl over who should face Toxic Attraction next.

On this week’s NXT, Grayson Waller asked Hayes if he could sign some memorabilia. Hayes agreed, but later found out that he had unwittingly signed a contract for a title defense.

Roderick Strong and The Creed Brothers confronted one another in a backstage segment on tonight’s show after dissension during a tag team match against The Dyad and Joe Gacy led to a defeat. Strong was upset and challenged The Creeds to a title match for next week.

Here is the lineup so far for next week’s Great American Bash:

WWE NXT Great American Bash, Tuesday, July 5, 8 p.m. Eastern time —

  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Cameron Grimes
  • NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship: Toxic Attraction (c) vs. Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade
  • NXT North American Championship: Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Grayson Waller
  • NXT Tag Team Championship: Creed Brothers (c) vs. Roderick Strong and Damon Kemp
  • Wendy Choo vs. Tiffany Stratton
  • Trick Williams vs. Wes Lee

Grayson Waller to face Sanga on WWE NXT

A match between former tag team partners is set for tonight’s episode of NXT.

WWE has announced that Grayson Waller will face Sanga on NXT tonight. Sanga (Saurav Gurjar) was introduced as Waller’s bodyguard on NXT this January, but their partnership ended when they lost last week’s gauntlet match for the vacant NXT Tag Team titles.

Sanga was pinned by Julius Creed in the gauntlet match. Pretty Deadly then defeated The Creed Brothers at the end of the gauntlet to become the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

In a post-show video last week, Waller blamed Sanga for their loss and said their business relationship is over. Waller said he doesn’t need anyone and has never needed anyone. Waller declared that he’s going to the top of NXT on his own.

WWE has also announced that, following their Tag Team title win last week, Pretty Deadly will be appearing on NXT tonight. Pretty Deadly made their NXT 2.0 debut two weeks ago when they were revealed as The Creed Brothers’ mystery attackers.

Before coming to NXT 2.0, Pretty Deadly were part of the NXT UK roster. They held the NXT UK Tag Team titles once.

Here’s the updated card for tonight’s NXT:

  • Carmelo Hayes vs. Santos Escobar
  • Natalya vs. Tatum Paxley
  • Sarray vs. Tiffany Stratton
  • Grayson Waller vs. Sanga
  • New NXT Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly appear

Three title matches announced for WWE NXT

Three title matches have been announced for next week’s WWE NXT.

Mandy Rose will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Dakota Kai, Cameron Grimes will defend the NXT North American Championship against Solo Sikoa, and MSK will defend the NXT Tag Team titles against Grayson Waller and Sanga. Kushida will also face Von Wagner in a singles match.

Rose was involved in the finish of tonight’s NXT Women’s Tag Team title match, allowing Jacey Jayne and Gigi Dolin to regain the titles from Kai and partner Raquel Gonzalez. Later, in a backstage promo, Kai promised revenge.

MSK will defend against Waller and Sanga following an interview that took place on tonight’s show. MSK were doing a promo when Waller and Sanga walked up, with Waller boasting about how he was trending after Saturday. Lee told Waller they won the tag team titles, but Sanga told MSK that they wouldn’t be champions for long. MSK challenged them to a match for tonight’s show, but Waller and Sanga rejected the offer, with Waller pointing to his injured elbow. Waller told them they would take the titles when they were ready.

As Cameron Grimes came out to celebrate his North American title win, Solo Sikoa came out and was respectful, saying that now comes the hard part of becoming champion – defending it. Grimes said he had to fight every day to be here and told Solo that the match was on.

Solo Sikoa, Grayson Waller advance to Stand & Deliver ladder match on WWE NXT

Solo Sikoa and Grayson Waller advanced to the North American Championship ladder match at TakeOver on tonight’s NXT.

The show opened with Sikoa pinning Roderick Strong following a splash off the top rope. Later in the program, Waller advanced after pinning A-Kid with a rolling cutter.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams then announced after the Waller/A-Kid match that a three-way match featuring people who lost their qualifying matches (A-Kid, Roderick Strong, and Cameron Grimes) will take place next week, determining the final participant in the match. After some insults, A-Kid laid out Williams and Hayes to close out the segment.

Already qualifying for the North American title match is Santos Escobar, who defeated Grimes on last week’s show.

Here is the current card for NXT Stand & Deliver, which will take place April 2 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas:

  • Dolph Ziggler vs. Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship
  • Imperium vs. The Creed Brothers vs. MSK for the NXT Tag Team Championship
  • Mandy Rose vs. Cora Jade for the NXT Women’s Championship
  • Tommaso Ciampa vs. Tony D’Angelo
  • LA Knight vs. Gunther
  • Carmelo Hayes vs. Santos Escobar vs. Grayson Waller vs. Solo Sikoa vs. TBA in a ladder match for the NXT North American Championship

Two Stand & Deliver North American title qualifying matches set for WWE NXT

Two North American title qualifying matches, along with two other matches, are set for next week’s WWE NXT.

Wendy Choo and Dakota Kai will face Io Shirai and Kay Lee Ray in the finals of the women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Other matches for next week include The Creed Brothers facing The Grizzled Young Veterans, and two qualifying matches for the NXT North American Championship ladder match at Stand and Deliver: Solo Sikoa vs. Roderick Strong and A-Kid vs. Grayson Waller.

In a video package that aired tonight on NXT, Shirai and Ray brought up the finals would be next week. After the video aired, Wendy Choo told Dakota Kai backstage that while Shirai and Ray will be a tough team to beat, they will be just fine.

The Creed Brothers confronted Grizzled Young Veterans backstage, accusing them of a parking lot attack that took place last week. GYV denied the allegations but agreed to a rematch of their Dusty Rhodes Classic Tournament final.

A-Kid made his NXT debut on tonight’s show, defeating Kushida to advance to the North American title qualifier next week. On tonight’s show, Santos Escobar defeated Cameron Grimes to be the first to qualify for the ladder match.

WWE NXT video highlights: AJ Styles defeats Grayson Waller

The feud between AJ Styles and Grayson Waller came to a head on last night’s NXT.

In what was his first-ever singles match in NXT, Styles defeated Waller in last night’s main event. Styles pinned Waller after hitting the Phenomenal Forearm.

After the match, Styles told Waller that he may be good — but he’s not phenomenal. Styles then said he wanted to introduce Waller to one of his friends.

LA Knight made his way out and attacked Waller. It was the first time Knight has appeared on NXT since being laid out in the parking lot by Waller last month.

Last night’s NXT also featured the fallout from New Year’s Evil. Bron Breakker cut his first promo as NXT Champion, thanking Tommaso Ciampa for their match and vowing to prove why he deserves to be NXT Champion every week.

**********

We kicked things off this week with ring announcer Samantha Irvin introducing the new NXT Champion, Bron Breakker.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker in-ring promo

“You deserve it!” chants rang out through the WWE Performance Center before Breakker began his promo. He thanked Tommaso Ciampa, calling him a great performer and an outstanding human being. Breakker also said that after the match Ciampa paid respect to his father (Rick Steiner, not mentioned by name) who was sitting ringside last week.

Breakker continued to say he’s going to prove why he’s earned the NXT Championship every week before dropping the microphone and exiting the ring.

Santos Escobar’s music hit and he entered with Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza for his match with Xyon Quinn. Escobar and Breakker exchanged a look as they crossed paths on the entrance ramp.

Santos Escobar defeated Xyon Quinn

Quinn attacked Escobar before the bell and took the early advantage. Elektra Lopez was shown watching the match from somewhere in the Performance Center, as she will leave with the winner. Quinn remained on offense as we went to commercial break.

We come back from break and Escobar has an ankle lock on Quinn. We cut to a replay of Escobar hitting a tope suicida during the break on Quinn, who had been distracted with Joaquin Wilde at ringside.

Quinn looked to be making a comeback but Mendoza got up on the ring apron and provided a distraction that allowed Escobar to hit him from behind. As Escobar was about to ram Quinn into the steel post, however, Elektra Lopez blocked his path.

Lopez and Quinn then stared at each other for a bit as Lopez seemed to imply she would like to leave with him. As Quinn turned around, however, she kicked him in the groin. Escobar then hit the Phantom Driver for the win.

Escobar, Mendoza, Wilde, and Lopez all celebrated at ringside.

We cut to Tony D’Angelo delivering a backstage promo about his upcoming match with Pete Dunne. He said he tried to be a nice guy and only let Dunne off with a broken hand. D’Angelo said Dunne is just like his dogs and needs to learn that he is in charge.

Mandy Rose Segment

NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose is shown poolside with a team of photographers taking her picture as she held the NXT title. Rose said every week people tune in to see her because NXT 2.0 is all about Mandy. She told everyone to keep watching and keep staring.

Cameron Grimes defeated Damon Kemp

Cameron Grimes returned this week on NXT 2.0. Shortly after the match began, Malcolm Bivens was shown watching it from the stage area as Bennett mentioned he might be scouting for the Diamond Mine. Bivens began clapping when he saw Kemp hit a suplex on Grimes.

Grimes quickly turned things around and landed a flying crossbody before hitting the Cave In for the win. He then yelled that he was coming for gold into the camera before leaving the ring area.

Joe Gacy cut a backstage promo along with Harland about the Dusty Rhodes Classic. He said they plan to use the platform to demonstrate that no matter someone’s size, skill, or experience, everyone has an equal opportunity to win the Dusty Cup. He then assured his opponents tonight that they will be in a safe space.

On commentary they mentioned that Von Wagner has been fined and suspended for his actions last week where he attacked several members of the NXT Universe.

Malik Blade and Edris Enofe defeated Joe Gacy & Harland via DQ in a Dusty Rhodes Classic play-in match

Gacy started things off with Enofe and got the early advantage and a two count off a uranage. Blade tagged in and landed a dropkick before him and Enofe hit some double-team moves. Gacy then tagged out to Harland who took out both of his opponents. His aggression would end up costing his team the match, however.

Harland kept striking Malik in the corner after the ref had counted to 5. The ref then called for the bell to disqualify Harland & Gacy. With that, Blade & Enofe qualify for the Dusty Classic and Gacy & Harland do not.

An Imperium vignette aired. They ran down lazy, gluttonous Americans and spoke of how they achieve success through hard work and punishment. In a nutshell, they look down on lazy, uneducated, and unkempt people. Also, the mat is sacred.

Tony D’Angelo defeated Pete Dunne in a “Crowbar on a Pole” match.

Both Dunne and D’Angelo would take turns going for the crowbar before D’Angelo hit a suplex and we went to commercial break.

When we got back from break, D’Angelo was still in control. Dunne quickly fought back and hit a neckbreaker and eventually made a run at the crowbar. D’Angelo stopped him from doing so and then grabbed the crowbar himself after giving Dunne a suplex.

D’Angelo attempted to use the crowbar to hit Dunne in the hand again, just as he had done earlier in their feud. This time Dunne was able to escape, however.

Dunne wrapped D’Angelo in a crowbar-assisted chickenwing until D’Angelo backed him into the corner. D’Angelo then got a two count after a crowbar-assisted neckbreaker. He then started to work on Dunne’s injured hand.

The finish came shortly after Dunne had his opponent wrapped in a triangle but D’Angelo was able to get his feet to the ropes. Then D’Angelo got up and gave Dunne a double-leg takedown on a chair, tossed him into the pole, hit him with the crowbar and got the pin.

Grayson Waller was interviewed in the back. He talked about how he’s in the main event tonight and he’ll be in main events permanently after beating AJ Styles later.

Indi Hartwell, Persia Pirotta & Wendy Choo are shown in the back. Pirotta and Hartwell were warming up for their match as Choo looked like she was just waking up.

Indi Hartwell, Persia Pirotta & Wendy Choo defeated Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter and Amari Miller

Wendy Choo curled up in the corner and rested on a pillow once the match began. She did look quite comfy.

Briggs and Jensen were shown in the back watching the match on a monitor as Bennett spoke about them wanting dates with Catanzaro and Carter.

Choo was tagged in and despite her sleepiness managed to land some suplexes and got a two count on Miller. All 6 then exchanged moves on one another in the ring before Choo curled up on the mat and appeared to be taking a nap again. As Miller went to attack her, however, Choo kicked her off and tagged into Pirotta. She then landed a face buster on Miller before Hartwell (who had tagged in) came off the top with her diving elbow for the win.

Hartwell and Pirotta then seemed pleased with their pajama-wearing partner as they celebrated in the ring.

MSK were shown in the back in front of the Dusty Cup talking about making history repeat in this year’s tournament. Dakota Kai, who won the Cup last year with Raquel Gonzalez, wandered into the scene and said, “Nothing divides friendship more than success” as she stared dreamily at the trophy. Perhaps she was alluding to teaming up with Gonzalez again, maybe? And is that really what divides friendship?

Kay Lee Ray was shown in the back where a photoshoot had just taken place. A voice off-camera told Ray that the photoshoot had been for Mandy Rose. Ray didn’t like that Rose would show up for photoshoots but not to defend the title. She then smashed a bunch of the photography equipment with a baseball bat.

Solo Sikoa vs Boa went to a double count-out.

Boa got some early strikes in but Sikoa took control pretty early on. As things spilled to the outside, however, Boa took control after ramming his opponent’s head into the steel post. Bennett kept speaking about Boa’s darker persona and there being a darker side to him.

Boa got a two count of a double undertook suplex. Sikoa then fought back with a series of strikes and a senton. The match spilled to the floor again and they began fighting on the outside. The referee counted to 10 and called for the bell, counting both men out.

Sikoa and Boa kept brawling throughout the Performance Center as the camera cut away from the ring area.

AJ Styles was interviewed backstage and said the passion shown by Boa and Sikoa is what he loves about NXT. He said the only one on the roster without that passion is Grayson Waller. Styles also said he’s going to win the Royal Rumble (which I think was him declaring for it) and main event WrestleMania but first he’s going to beat Grayson Waller.

When we got back from break, Sikoa and Boa were still fighting in the backstage area. Sikoa tossed Boa on the other side of some cases. As Sikoa leaned over to pick him up, however, a fireball burst into his face. Boa then stood up and revealed he was now wearing facepaint and looking very much like Boa’s darker persona.

Vic Joseph then revealed that Von Wagner’s suspension has been lifted and his fine has been paid but we don’t know by who.

Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams in-ring promo

Carmelo was announced as the NXT North American Champion (with no mention of the cruiserweight title) and he came out with just the one belt.

Hayes said last week was one of the toughest challenges of his career. He then had a moment of silence for Roderick Strong’s cruiserweight title reign. Hayes said he’s got more accomplishments than months spent in the company. He said whatever you want to call his title, it’s the “A-Championship”.

AJ Styles music hit as he came out for his main event match with Grayson Waller. He exchanged some glances with Williams and Hayes before heading to the ring.

When we came back from break, Hayes and Williams were leaving but found Cameron Grimes hanging out by their car. He let them know that he’s coming for Hayes’ championship. There was also some talk of him going to the moon.

AJ Styles defeated Grayson Waller

Styles got the early advantage in the match and worked a bit on Waller’s leg. He hit him with a backbreaker, bodyslam, and knee drop before getting a two count.

Styles hit a dropkick that caused Waller to spill to the outside but Waller turned things around shortly after. He gave Styles a draping neckbreaker on the ropes and then hit a big clothesline on the floor before we went to commercial break.

When we came back from break, Waller had Styles in a neck crank. Styles made a comeback not long after. AJ looked to get Waller up in the Styles Clash but Waller got to the ropes and escaped to the outside.

Styles tossed Waller back in the ring and motioned like he was going for the Phenomenal Forearm but Waller rolled to the ring apron. When Styles went to get him, Waller pulled his head down on the top rope. Waller then hit a springboard elbow drop for a two count.

Styles locked in the calf crusher but Waller got to the ropes. Waller hit a slam for a two count on AJ shortly after. Waller then motioned like he was going to go for the Styles Clash but AJ gave him a backdrop. Styles then went for the Phenomenal Forearm but Waller escaped to the outside before running back in to give Styles that stunner he does for a two count.

Styles then gave Waller a Pele kick and a brainbuster. He then went for the Phenomenal Forearm for a third time, hit it, and picked up the three count.

Styles cut a promo after the match. He told Waller that he was good but he’s not phenomenal. Styles said he wants to introduce Waller to one of his friends and LA Knight’s music hit. Knight then came out and attacked Waller. Knight finally clotheslined Waller out of the ring and his music hit again. We close the show with Knight and AJ shaking hands and then celebrating in the ring.

AJ Styles vs. Grayson Waller set for WWE NXT next week

Four matches have been announced for next week’s NXT.

AJ Styles will face Grayson Waller, while Pete Dunne will face Tony D’Angelo in a Crowbar on a Pole match. Xyon Quinn will face Santos Escobar, with Elektra Lopez saying in an interview that she will leave with the winner. Boa will also face Solo Sikoa.

Styles appeared on tonight’s NXT New Year’s Evil show and confronted Waller, saying he wanted to face him right there and now. Waller acted like he was going to fight, but then refused, saying he’d do it on his own time and would face him next week. Waller then tried to attack Styles, but Styles cut him off with a pele kick, sending him retreating.

The feud between Dunne and D’Angelo stems from a match that took place two weeks ago, where Dunne defeated D’Angelo. After the match, D’Angelo attacked Dunne and, with a crowbar, attacked Dunne’s fingers.

In a vignette that aired tonight, Boa told himself in the mirror that he wanted to face Solo Sikoa by himself. But as he continued to wash his face, himself in face paint appeared from behind.

AJ Styles to appear at NXT New Year’s Evil

AJ Styles is headed to NXT for another confrontation with Grayson Waller.

The feud between Styles and Waller will continue when Styles confronts Waller at NXT New Year’s Evil next Tuesday. It will be the second confrontation that Styles and Waller have had on NXT.

After their feud began with Waller mocking him on social media, Styles showed up on NXT last week for a segment with Waller. Waller then returned the favor by appearing on Raw last night. They’ve teased having a match against each other, but WWE hasn’t confirmed when or if that match will be happening.

Waller kicked off tonight’s NXT following his appearance on Raw. It led to a match where Waller defeated Odyssey Jones. Waller was originally supposed to face Dexter Lumis, but Lumis didn’t appear on tonight’s show.

Styles appeared on the video screen after Waller defeated Jones. Styles said Waller may have gotten the attention he wanted by showing up at Raw, but it’s the wrong kind of attention. Styles announced that he’ll be at New Year’s Evil next week. Styles said it’s time for Waller to put up or shut up.

The updated lineup for New Year’s Evil is listed below:

  • NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa defends against Bron Breakker
  • NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose defends against Raquel Gonzalez and Cora Jade in a triple threat match
  • Title unification match: NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes vs. NXT Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong
  • Riddle & MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) vs. Imperium (WALTER, Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner)
  • AJ Styles will confront Grayson Waller

The winner of Hayes vs. Strong will be the NXT North American Champion going forward.

NXT’s Grayson Waller appears on WWE Raw

The final Raw of 2021 included an appearance by a member of the NXT 2.0 roster.

NXT’s Grayson Waller was on Raw tonight to continue his feud with AJ Styles. After the feud began with Waller mocking Styles on social media, Styles appeared on NXT last week and confronted Waller.

Styles was supposed to face his former tag team partner Omos on Raw tonight, but Omos didn’t appear on the show. While Styles was cutting a promo in the ring, Waller was in the front row with a “The Grayson Waller Effect is Phenomenal” sign. Styles said Waller is someone who doesn’t want to pay his dues to get to the top. He then told Waller to get into the ring.

Waller said that, since Styles showed up on NXT last week, he thought he should come to Styles’ house to show everyone what they can see on NXT. Waller said that all he had to do was get under Styles’ skin and now Styles is begging for Waller to be in the ring with him. Waller said he liked it on Raw and Mondays felt right to him — and he’ll like them even more when Omos is done with Styles and Waller takes Styles’ spot.

Styles threatened to give Waller a Phenomenal Forearm so Waller could count the lights on his way out of Raw. But before things could go any further, Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez interrupted Styles. It set up a match where Styles defeated Crews.

A match between Styles and Waller was also teased during their confrontation on NXT last week. Waller backed away from Styles after acting like he was going to step to him. Waller said he was going to let Omos get Styles first — and then Waller has next.

Waller (real name Matt Farrelly) is from Australia and used the in-ring name Matty Wahlberg before signing with WWE. He was a contestant on “Australian Survivor: Champions vs. Contenders” in 2019.

Waller has laid out Johnny Gargano and LA Knight on NXT in recent weeks, with the attack on Gargano coming when Gargano was addressing his future before his WWE contract expired.
