Seth Rollins ‘ready to go’ with Vince McMahon after WWE HIAC match

On the newest episode of Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions, Seth Rollins said he was “ready to go” with Vince McMahon following his 2019 Hell in a Cell match with “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt.

Speaking in-depth about the match that earned 2019’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter worst match of the year award, Rollins said “my vision for the match was a lot different than what we had to go out there and do” and that he and Wyatt “did what they were told to do to the best of their ability.” He said he’s convinced that had the match gone the way he wanted, it wouldn’t have been as bad.

He said as it was going on, he could hear the boos intensifying and that it was a tough pill to swallow when fans ultimately didn’t get the result they wanted.

“It’s a sucky feeling,” he said, explaining that he was furious when he went backstage.

“….At the time, I came through that curtain and I was ready to strangle Vince McMahon. I’m not kidding you. TJ Wilson was there to hold me back. I stared right into Vince’s eyes…I looked at him, he looked at me, we didn’t say a single word to each other and he walked out,” he said.

He said he sat down with Paul Heyman, who was creative director of Raw at that time, and had a conversation. He then talked to McMahon the next day.

“I was much calmer and I said, ‘Let’s talk about this. We need to figure out what we’re doing here because that can’t happen again.’ It was civil, but it took me a night. I was ready to go if somebody wasn’t there making sure I was okay, my temper and the adrenaline, you know….” he said.

Rollins said he was able to take the negative and turn it into a positive and that his current Drip God character evolved from that letdown.

‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt released by WWE

A year full of surprising WWE cuts continued Saturday as former WWE Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt was released.

WWE initially announced the release on Twitter, but then deleted the tweet. A short time later, they tweeted the news again.

Dave Meltzer reported that Wyatt was told by John Laurinaitis that his release was due to budget cuts. He was preparing to return in August and was booked on some shows.

Wyatt made his final appearance as part of a Firefly Fun House segment on the post-WrestleMania Raw in April. At WrestleMania, Randy Orton defeated him in his first match back after Orton lit him on fire at last December’s TLC. Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) was distracted by Alexa Bliss who, after being aligned with Wyatt in a storyline, said she no longer needed him.

The 34-year-old had been in the WWE system since 2009. The son of Mike Rotunda, he first came to prominence as Husky Harris in NXT and was part of The Nexus angle in WWE. He was sent back to then-FCW and eventually rebranded himself as Wyatt, a charismatic cult-like leader of the Wyatt Family. He, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper were eventually called up to the main roster in 2013. In 2019, Wyatt debuted The Fiend character.

In his run, Wyatt held the WWE title once, the Universal title twice, and both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team titles once.

He is married to WWE ring announcer JoJo Offerman and the couple have two children together. His brother, Bo Dallas, was also released earlier this year.

Bray Wyatt vs. Daniel Bryan confirmed for WWE Royal Rumble

Daniel Bryan will have his shot against The Fiend next month.

Bryan won a triple threat match tonight on SmackDown over both King Corbin and The Miz that determined the next challenger for The Fiend’s Universal title.

The match was originally supposed to kick off tonight’s show. However, Roman Reigns interrupted Corbin as he was being carried to the ring and the two ended up in a brawl. Corbin then refused to take part in the match, saying that he was injured.

It was then restarted a second time, this time being a singles match between Miz and Bryan. This ended in a double disqualification when Corbin’s security came to the ring and attacked both men.

By the end of the show, the match had become a triple threat again when Corbin learned that Roman Reigns had been asked to leave the building. However, Reigns came out during the match and took out both Corbin and Dolph Ziggler, who was at ringside. Miz and Bryan continued to wrestle, with Bryan getting the win following a LeBelle lock submission.

Royal Rumble will take place on January 26, 2020 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.
