Fight Game: A busy Saturday in San Jose with Dave & Bryan

John LaRocca and I are back on the Fight Game Podcast to talk about our crazy wrestling weekend with Bryan Alvarez in town and watching AEW Full Gear at Dave Meltzer’s house.

Then, we go into our AEW Dynamite and NXT breakdowns.

There was some strong wrestling and promo work on Dynamite, but we differ in our thoughts on the opening segment. NXT was better than it has been recently, but there’s still a lot more that we dislike than we like with WWE’s developmental brand.

Fight Game: Our top ten wrestlers, AEW Dynamite & NXT thoughts

John LaRocca and I are back on the Fight Game Podcast, looking at ten wrestlers we would choose to start our own promotion with.

There isn’t as much crossover with our lists as you might think.

We then get into the go-home AEW Dynamite before Full Gear Saturday. We talk about the really strong wrestling we liked on the show, including Lio Rush who looked like a superstar. We also talk about some of the segments we didn’t like as much, including the constant beatdowns before and after matches.

We try and find some good in NXT before going hard into all the things that aren’t working for us when it comes to WWE’s developmental brand.

We brought on JD Oliva and Mike Gilbert from the Brace for Impact podcast to recap Impact Wrestling’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view that took place Saturday in Las Vegas.

John and I then talked about the situation between Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, WWE Crown Jewel, AEW Rampage, and NXT’s upcoming Halloween Havoc show.

And then, like we normally do, we gave our likes and dislikes about AEW Dynamite which was Saturday in Orlando.

Fight Game: New AEW TNT Champion, frustrating NXT, G1 updates

On this week’s Fight Game Podcast, John LaRocca and I begin by looking forward to what could be an amazing stretch run in New Japan’s G1 B block for both Jeff Cobb and Kazuchika Okada.

We then quickly talk about last Sunday’s WWE Extreme Rules before breaking down what was a disappointing and frustrating NXT show, which is in its third week of the 2.0 relaunch.

Finally, we go over AEW Dynamite which opened hot and closed in spectacular fashion with Sammy Guevara winning the TNT title from Miro.

On this week’s Fight Game Podcast, John LaRocca and I begin by talking about the main events of the first two nights of this year’s NJPW G1 tournament.

We then look at WWE bringing their biggest star over from SmackDown to Raw in Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

We then dig into week two of NXT 2.0 which we felt wasn’t nearly as good as week one.

Finally, we discuss an excellent AEW Dynamite Grand Slam show by going over the finish to Bryan Danielson vs Kenny Omega, CM Punk’s promo, and whether or not Sting’s match should have been the main event of the show.

Fight Game: The Dave Meltzer historical wrestling show guessing game

On a special episode necessitated due to me being in Hawaii on vacation, Dave Meltzer joins me this week for a fun guessing game.

Here’s how it works: I give him a date of a historical show and he tries to guess what show it is. We then talk about it based on his memories.

I won’t spoil the events we discuss, but we go all the way back to 1971.

John LaRocca and I are back at it next week, but until then, enjoy this unique talk with Dave.

Fight Game: Babyface fire, Swerve’s title win, AEW Dynamite & NXT

John LaRocca and I are back with the Fight Game Podcast as we go over NXT from Tuesday and AEW Dynamite from Wednesday.

On this week’s show:

  • We talk about Kenny Omega vs. Jungle Boy from last Saturday’s Dynamite and what the match lacked in John’s opinion. We also discuss babyface fire.
  • We celebrate Swerve Scott’s great NXT North American title victory over Bronson Reed and a really strong NXT show. I opine whether enforcer Samoa Joe is making their stars look too weak, though.
  • Per usual, I liked AEW Dynamite more than John did, but we both loved Miro vs. Brian Pillman Jr. and discuss whether the second generation star has been slept on a bit.

If you are interested in getting together with members of the F4W Empire for events including next year’s convention, join our new Facebook group as there are already discussions in the group about going to live shows.
