Hair vs. hair match announced for WWE NXT WarGames

Cameron Grimes and Duke Hudson will each put their hair on the line when they face off at NXT WarGames.

It was announced during tonight’s NXT that Grimes will take on Hudson in a hair vs. hair match at NXT WarGames on Sunday, December 5. The match comes after Hudson attacked Grimes last week and cut some of his hair and beard off.

Grimes and Hudson took part in a poker showdown on last Tuesday’s NXT. After getting tricked into folding by Grimes, Hudson attacked Grimes and powerbombed him through the poker table. Hudson then got scissors out from under the ring and started cutting Grimes’ hair and beard.

An emotional Grimes spoke on NXT tonight and addressed what Hudson did to him last week. Grimes said people would push him around when he was a kid and tell him he wasn’t good enough, but he scratched and clawed and was able to make it in this industry. Grimes said he even struck it rich, but he kept his hair and beard to remind him of the times when he had nothing.

Grimes challenged Hudson to come out to the ring. Hudson instead appeared on the video screen and said Grimes should be thanking him for cutting his hair. When Grimes challenged him to a hair vs. hair match at NXT WarGames, Hudson accepted. Hudson said he would take the rest of Grimes’ hair.

WarGames is NXT’s first streaming special since its NXT 2.0 rebrand. The show will air live on Peacock/WWE Network.

Poker showdown, two matches set for next week’s WWE NXT

A poker showdown, as well as two matches, were announced for next week’s WWE NXT.

Duke Hudson challenged Cameron Grimes to a poker showdown after Grimes defeated Ru Feng on tonight’s program. Hudson was mad that Grimes had beat him in poker the previous week, running down his appearance and calling Grimes a hick. Grimes accepted the challenge for next week.

A six-man tag team will also take place. Diamond Mine (Roderick Strong and the Creed Brothers) will team together to take on Jacket Time (Ikemen Jiro and Kushida) and Odyssey Jones. The Creed Brothers defeated Jacket Time on this week’s NXT due to interference from Strong. Jones came out and evened the odds as retaliation for Diamond Mine’s assault on Jones the previous week.

Tony D’Angelo is also set to face Dexter Lumis on next week’s show. D’Angelo met with Indi Hartwell tonight during a promo and gave her a fish as a gift, saying it was for Lumis.

NXT Breakout Tournament semifinals set

The NXT Breakout Tournament is down to its final four wrestlers.

Trey Baxter defeated Joe Gacy on tonight’s NXT to advance to the semifinals of the Breakout Tournament. Odyssey Jones will be Baxter’s opponent in the next round.

Duke Hudson vs. Carmelo Hayes is the Breakout Tournament’s other semifinal match. The winner of that match will advance to face the winner of Jones vs. Baxter in the finals. WWE hasn’t announced when the finals will be taking place.

Jones advanced to the semifinals by defeating Andre Chase in the first round. Hudson defeated Ikemen Jiro in the first round, while Hayes defeated Josh Briggs.

The winner of the Breakout Tournament will receive a shot at the NXT title of their choosing. The tournament will continue on NXT next Tuesday.

This is the second-ever NXT Breakout Tournament. Jordan Myles (ACH) won the inaugural tournament in 2019.

Baxter (formerly known as Blake Christian) and Hayes (formerly known as Christian Casanova) both signed with WWE earlier this year. Hudson (Brendan Vink) and Jones (former Syracuse football player Omari Palmer) signed with WWE in 2019.

Hudson formerly teamed with Shane Thorne on both NXT and Raw.
